Long lasting matches in relationships have always been how a civilization thrives. You cannot have structure and order without cohesive pairings. Long ago, before the “Informational age” became the “Disinformation age” people were left to choose their own partners based solely on the swipe of a finger. The look of a picture… Many people made mistakes. They became involved with the wrong kind of partner… the wrong gender? How could these humans get it so wrong? Easily. The amount of information never equated to the truth. So… A high power decided to tilt the odds. To balance civilization just a little bit more. Humans were so good at wrecking their own lives, they needed a ‘love handicap’ if you will. At first it was a fad. Another app on every device that people used to play games and entertain themselves. May as well be a filter on a photo. No one put stock into “Match SoulMates.” A free download. Link to your socials for extra lives! Upload a picture for a hidden level! The sheer amount of information collected was amazing. Then. It caught traction. One celebrity didn’t “Match” with her long term boyfriend. Her Soul Notifications showed someone lonely, like her. Then she matched with a stunt man on one of her shoots overseas. Their phones both went off. Wandering the crew with their phones out, they met, immediately enjoyed each other, and haven’t looked back.

Those were the only clear words in the app, everything else was emoji’s. Why? You ask. Why emoji’s and not clear cut instructions on how to find your soulmate? Because people are sus. Give them a straight answer and they will read into it and twist it and never find each other. A pictorial guessing game on a smart device is fun and draws one in. A little cop car zooming across the screen lets them wonder. Is their soul mate being chased? Is he or she an officer? Are they in trouble? Is the confetti for a party? Is it a birthday? Who knows? The only clear indicator is when your phone is less than a foot from your soulmates, their entire profile on the App is unlocked. Social medias, pictures, stories. However much they wanted to contribute to the app, is sent to you. Including their Phone number.   After more and more people touted the accuracy and their happiness with the outcome, it became a commonly accepted practice. After all the App has never been wrong. Several years into the practice no one really explains it anymore, it is as common as a camera when you buy a new device. You don’t get access to the app until your 21st birthday. No need to worry about soulmates so young… just enjoy yourself!

Ryan sits in a booth with her friends from work. The bar has a club upstairs and a restaurant below it. They’re far too busy with the boas, party hats, and drinks to notice or care how crowded it was. The weather was finally starting to get warmer and people were aching to get out of the house. They ordered drinks. Far too many drinks because it was official. She was legally able to do that. She chuckled and handed over her faded ID. While going out with the girls wasn’t something she usually did… this was a rite of passage, and her roommate wouldn’t let her stay home. She adjusted her birthday girl sash, tugged the edge of her short skit, and headed to the bar to order something food related. She didn’t want to have a hangover in the morning. She takes the moment to check her phone. Right that annoying heart app… a happy birthday message and a blank partner sheet. After looking at it for a moment, she took her fries and headed back to the table. Dealing with that was for another time. She much preferred face to face interactions. With a muted phone and fresh hot fries, she returned to her gaggle of friends and giant margarita.

Here’s what I’m looking for in the Roleplay Looking for someone to write the male soul mate, the how’s where’s and whys are totally up for debate. Maybe leaving most of the story to the roll of a dice bot? That could get fun. See above for example DM me with questions or ideas!
