Vampires: The vampire community consists of two classes, the Aristocracy and the Fledglings. Status is indicated by bloodline. The eldest vampires are the most respected, especially if one is an Original Family vampire. The Originals are the first vampires to inhabit Midnight Creek and include the following families: Straud, Tolman, and Beaumont. Contrary to popular belief, vampires are not barren, but children with one parent that is Vampire will always be born undead. The Fledglings are those who were Turned by other families that immigrated later. Those Turned by Originals, however, are more respected by association. All three Original families have a representative on the Council. Vampires has many abilities. They are immortal so long as they do not enter daylight without a Daylight Ring. They are blessed with superhuman speed and scent, especially in regards to smelling blood. Their fangs are retractable and they have the power of compulsion on non-vampires. A vampire can also use compulsion on their fledglings. Vampires, however cannot use compulsion on their birthed children. Talented vampires can also morph into bats and enjoy the benefits of flight. Vampires have a long history of bad blood between them and wolves, as they both fought for power over the land before humans became a common “annoyance”. In recent years, however, the situation has gotten worse as vampires have secured their place in the Council more and more. __ (edited)

Werewolves: Werewolves are a very traditional people, their customs stretching back centuries. Werewolves practice a religion known as Lunarism, the worship of the Moon. Werewolves are also very big on pack mentality. There are two packs in Midnight Creek: The Bloodmoon Clan and the Whitefang Clan. The clans, though different, are very familial with each other, especially with enemies such as the humans and vampires taking most of their livelihood. The ruling Alpha’s of each clan do not hold a position on the Council. The position is held by a representative that is specifically half werewolf an grew up human, much to the Wolf community’s outrage as they feel the candidate is too far removed from Werewolf culture. This was a strategic move by the humans and vampires in order to have the upper hand. Werewolves have many abilities. Their transformations vary in power upon the phases of the moon, with a Full Moon being the strongest transformation. They are excellent hunters with superhuman speed, smell, hearing, and sight. __ (edited)

Faes: Faes are a very complex society consisting of 3 distinct races: Fairy, Elven, and Sprite. The Faes of Midnight Creek are ruled solely by the King and Queen of the Fae, a royal family of fairies. Faes hold 1 place on the Council but mostly want nothing to do with any other species but their own. The royal heir of each generation of the Faes is determined on physical beauty. Faes are a very vain culture as they associate physical beauty as an indicator of power and magical ability. Fae beauty, however, doesn’t follow human beauty standards as Fae appearance varies from human-passing to fully naturized. Faes have many magical abilities. Fairies and sprites often have the ability of flight whereas elven are especially stealth. While not immortal, the average lifespan of a Fae is double the one of a human, averaging 200 years. They can cast spells and hexes, create glamours, heal and channel the forces of nature. Sprites are a special form of Fae and are considered more spirits of nature. They are immortal beings that have a language of their own and a more religious purpose, helping guide other faes. __ (edited)

Warlocks/Witches: Warlocks and witches have assimilated the most out of all supernaturals as they were the easiest for humans to target. Warlocks are thought to be humans who learned from Faes to harness the powers of nature. This talent was soon bred into their dna, creating a new race. Warlock history actually predates the founding of Midnight Creek, but such records have been lost to time. Warlocks have suffered the most in Midnight Creek’s history to discrimination, cultural genocide, and more. There is currently no representation for warlocks on the Council due to the fact that warlocks are too fragmented to be considered an “Important member of the community.” One pinnacle of warlock culture are covens. Covens often host multiple families of warlocks and specifically act as schools to train young witches and warlocks their magical abilities. The only coven still standing today is the Valeria Coven, which is a school and safe house for all witches and warlocks. Warlocks are gifted with the ability to perform magic, casting spells and curses through the help of runes, and have a history of creating potions to assist.
