"Thank you Captain, Im hoping they'll make the right decision and choose to use the help they have. I've read about them before the meeting, they suffered enough well before the incident. We must avoid any further pain... whatever it takes."
Carol nodded as a goodbye and turned the call off. She was uncomfortable with her choice too, the only mutant she've ever seen was Wolverine and it was years ago!
When she arrived to the school, the smell was unbearable. Burnt corpse, flesh, insides and stones, chemicals. They all did a chain dance together to Carol's nose. The smell was hardly any indicator of the tragedy in here. Most of the fire was put, she was seeing smaller and bigger burnt, smashed corpses getting carried from the school. She took a deep agonizing breathe seeing that. Tragedies, genocides were usual to her life around the galaxy but man it was heartbreaking to see all the time.
As she was looking at them she heard a scream from a firefighter inside the school. She rushed in and grabbed the man out of there. The man repeated "Someone in there... Someone in there... Someone in there..."
She left the man to medic and rushed back inside flying. She shouted "Can you hear me!? Are you there!?"
But there was no answer. She looked around, the fire was still burning, wood cracking and the sound of ambulances coming and leaving. She had to focus.
She thought to herself "If someone's alive, they must be under something!"
She lifted tables and planks around while firefighters set the fire off. She lifted a wardrobe to see someone under it. She swiftly lifted them and flew out of the fire. After handing over the mutant to doctors, she started to cough intensively. Breathing so much smoke made her sick. The doctors took the mutant to hospital. Next day Carol went to visit the mutant, hoping to see them awake.
