Today was the day of the Moon Goddess ceremony, everyone was busy with preparations throughout the week and even more busy when the day finally arrived. All of the tribe's people had their own roles to fulfill. Imari, having one of the most honored roles, is to accomplish a dance performance for the Moon Goddess Astreya to celebrate her and give thanks to the protection against the sun's harmful rays.
As people scurried around, Imari practiced for his ceremonial dance once more before the sky began to turn dark. Torches were lit and lead an even path to the ceremonial site where all of the tribe's people gathered, including the head chief and his family. The head chief and his family always wore the traditional head gear to cover their faces in public. The fox mask was passed down through centuries dating back to when the Moon Goddess fell in love with the first head chief. It is said to be a special gift given to the head chief all those years ago, the tribe's people believe it is spiritual but no one has ever seen the mask perform anything magical. Today however, the head chief is wearing a normal carved fox mask for the holy fox mask given to the first head chief is to be used in the ceremony.
When Imari walked up before the head chief and his family, he lowered himself onto one knee. His head lowered until the head chief announced to the tribe that the ceremony was about to begin. Asking Imari to lift his head and stand, he did just that. As he looked at the head chief, the holy fox mask was placed upon his face. It was an absolute honor to wear this mask for it was created by the Moon Goddess. The head chief explained the ceremony and Imari went to the center of the clearing. Dressed up in a ceremonial outfit, it was finally complete when topped with the holy fox mask. Once the moon was at it's highest peak, Imari began the ceremonial dance. The mask seemed to tighten on him, but it did was not suffocating or hot. Instead it was cool to the touch. Whil
