The hostess standing behind a small podium was stuck cheerfully greeting customers walking into the restaurant before turning their attention to Daisy, who approached hesitantly, stepping in front of a long line of people that seemed hungry and impatient. “Welcome to Bello Italiano! Do you have a reservation with us this afternoon?” “I do, it’s under the name Daisy Lynn.” The hostess tapped her pencil against a paper with at least fifty names, crossed one off, then smiled brightly. “Right this way, Ms. Lynn!” Daisy followed the girl into one of the backrooms where an open table for two waited by a large floor-to-ceiling window overlooking a sunny bay. She sat down on one of the chairs and nodded to the hostess gratefully. “Thank you,” she said softly, picking up one of the menus. “Your server will be right with you.” Now alone, Daisy set the menu down and pulled a compact mirror out from her velvety blue purse. She checked her makeup, which wasn’t much, just a light foundation used for sunscreen and a touch of mascara. Didn’t want to cover up those freckles dotting her nose, the ones that speckled her pale skin in random places on her body.

Her blue eyes glanced around taking note of the people sitting at other tables. Growing up, her parents taught her to read a room. Get to know the faces because you never knew who was watching. These disturbing habits were all thanks to their professions working within the government. She flattened her palms against her white top that sloped off one of her shoulders. The shirt was expensive but didn’t say ‘look at all the money I make!’, infact, that’s why she decided to wear her black yoga pants to tone down the aesthetic. Who didn’t like yoga pants? Five fingers stroked her scalp as she tossed a large number of pink strands of soft hair over one of her shoulders, now taking in the bay and the sunshine pouring onto the table. This was nerve-wracking! She hadn’t been on a date in….. years? Not sure why she decided now. Signing up on that date-me app and immediately being overwhelmed with responses (most of them were bots), but this one girl named Gwen caught her attention, and Daisy hoped she’d live up to her expectations.

"Uhh, damn I'm late" She yells at herself while she adjusts her short hairs perfectly on one side to complement it with her red frame glasses she wears all the time. The cabbie slightly distracted while driving was constantly checking Gwen out through the rear view mirror. Well it wasn't his fault. Gwen haven't had a date in long time and this one certainly some occasion for her. She decided to sport a halter neck black dress with thin side stripes going over her shoulder perfectly matching her petite body to be fair. She quickly adjusts her dress to just have thay perfect cleavage because hey she desperately wanted Daisy's attention and this garantees it. "M-ma'am we've reached the destination" the cabbie said in a disappointing tone which was very understandable seeing his interest in peeking. "Oh is it, thank you for the ride" She says as she puts the money right on the seat next to her pointing towards it indicating she paid. She quickly got out and dashed to the small podium. She did reach the podium but stumbled upon her heels a bit. "Uh-woah okay. I'm okay people" She said looking around but no one actually was helping her to stay on feet but who cares. "There might be a table reserved for two under the name Daisy Lynn" She says feeling the nervousness in her body. She starts fidgeting with her cell phone she was holding in her hands. "Umm, yea ma'am. This way Ms" she said as she lead the way into the restaurant followed by Gwen. They walked towards one of the backrooms with these very huge windows overlooking a fascinating view and she suddenly remembered her conversation with daisy on the app. "She loves such fascinating views. This makes sense" She whispers to herself smiling like an idiot not realising they almost reached the table where she noticed a girl sitting there. She walked right up to the chair in front of her and pulled it back making some room to sit. (edited)

"Um hey, Daisy. It's me Gwen" She says extending her hand towards her to shake and smiling like a dork still trying to notice her properly.

She was lost in thought and thinking of ways she was going to spend the weekend. Concert? Movie? New restaurant? There were so many activities to choose from with a list of friends she could call up to go with her, but what she really wanted was a connection with someone. Daisy was tired of showing up to events without anyone by her side. She wanted someone that would hold her hand. Make her laugh. Look into her eyes and see through the mask she put on every day. And just when she thought she was going to slip into a puddle of sorrow Gwen’s hand extended toward her. Daisy slipped her palm into Gwen’s, and felt Gwen spiritually pull her out of a hidden misery. She smiled up at the girl and her cheeks blushed. Good lord, really? This soon? Keep it together Daisy! She tried to calm her nerves by looking away, something she did whenever she was nervous, and let go of Gwen’s hand before her palm started to sweat. “Hey, Gwen! Sit, sit, sit! I haven’t ordered anything yet. Well, I looked over the menu. Everything looks great. Mouthwatering even, especially the desserts. Sometimes I skip the meals and go straight to the desserts!” Daisy cringed because she was off to a great start. Really. Keep talking like an idiot! That’ll impress Gwen. Daisy bit down on her bottom lip and tried so damn hard to keep it together. Dating sucked. Let’s face it. Dating was what you did to find that one person you could wake up next to. How was this going to go? Would Gwen be someone she’d see in the mornings or just another failed attempt at going for something deeper?

Daisy hummed quietly and handed a menu to Gwen, smiling, doing her best to seem ‘normal’. “I think I’m going to order something to drink, maybe a bloody mary. I don’t remember if you told me this or not, do you drink?” The waitress was headed for them now that Gwen had arrived. They only had so much time before they’d be pestered by the staff for their order. Daisy tried to shake her head at the waitress as if to say ‘we’re not ready’ or ‘go away’, but the girl was clueless and came right to the edge of their table, towering over them both with a pad of paper and pencil in hand. “Well hi there!” the girl said with a bubbly attitude. “What can I get you two to drink? Or do you want to start with an appetizer?”

Gwen sat down on the chair as Daisy shook her hand. "Wow, Daisy. Let me tell you this. You look so beautiful." Gwen compliments her looking right into her blue eyes. Before she could get lost into her own world of thoughts the waitress came up to their table asking for order. "Uhh, give us some space" Gwen whispers looking down for a bit and looks up with a smile. "I'll have a Margarita to go with" She said looking at the waitress who was busy noting down things on her notepad. "Okay, Got it. Your drinks will be here in no time" She said with a wide smile which pretty much looked fake which might also probably said "I'll not let you two be alone, bitches". "So, she is gone. This place is absolutely amazing, I remember you told me how you liked places with a view and damn look at this" She says looking right out of the window next to their table fiddling with her stray curl on to the left of her face with a finger. As Daisy was looking out towards the window gazing at the amaazing view Gwen took the risk of extending her hand a little upwards towards Daisy's hand just touching her fingers gently. Yes this is like two grown up ladies having high school like romance going on but they had not been on a serious date for a long time.

“Not sure when the last time was that someone called me beautiful, you’re gonna make me blush! And I mean, you’re looking stunning yourself....” don’t stare for too long! “You must work out or maybe you just naturally have great arms.” Arms!? Out of all the things to say. Arms! Daisy closed her eyes and tried to regain her composure. Just relax. She didn’t plan on opening her eyes so soon but Gwen had placed her hand near Daisy's and started to gently touch her fingers. The sensation of another human’s touch could turn a cloudy day into one with bright sunshine. “Margaritas used to be my go-to drink a few years ago. I’ll never forget the night I made a batch for a group of friends on Cinco De Mayo, we got wasted and I still can’t bring myself to remember that entire night. All I know is we had fun!” The table next to them began bickering with one another. A woman was scolding a man for staring at Gwen. It was rather embarrassing but mostly awkward. Daisy wasn’t the jealous type. She wanted to be with someone who enjoyed looking at other people without feeling bad about it. Trying to ignore them she went on, “I thought the view here would be nice so we can watch the boats on the water. I like sitting at parks, or even airports when I travel, just to people watch. You can tell a lot about a person when you’re studying them without them knowing…. aaaand that sounds really creepy when I say it out loud.” The waitress sat their drinks on the table and left without a word. Daisy sipped on her bloody mary, slipping one of the olives into her mouth. “What do you do for work again? Something with computers….”

Gwen looked at her arms momentarily when Daisy mentioned how strong they were. Interesting compliment she thought given that she was infact working on them. "Umm, yeah. So I'm a computer engineer. I make websites which would be very basic definition of what I do" Gwen answered instantly and then thinking would this make Daisy think that how rude I am to not explain my profession properly. She quickly shrugged those thoughts off and concentrated on her drink and took a small sip of it. "What about you? What's your thing?" Gwen trying to concentrate so hard just to look at her eyes but her eyes wander of to those pink stray strands of curly hair right next to her face perfectly complimenting her blue eyes perfectly. While they were having this conversation where they get to know more about each other she thought of playing a bit with Daisy under the table. Just about when Gwen decided to do so the waitress again walked up to the table along with that fake smile. "What would be your next order, ladies?" She asked politely. Gwen meanwhile continued on her plan and took her left heel off and was searching for Daisy's feet to rub on but instead she lost a bit in the way and got on to another leg standing just nearby. As soon as she felt something similar to a feet she started rubbing it real nice along with that look on her face saying I'm the one doing that under the table. (edited)

“A computer engineer, that’s so cool! I’m going to pretend I know what that is and say you basically code in the matrix.” She knew she wasn’t even close but there would be time to figure out the details later. She liked Gwen, and figured there’d be a second date somewhere down the line. Especially with the way she was touching her hand on the table. “So I do photography. Or I try. I basically take people out to random locations they’d never think to have their picture taken and find creative ways to make them smile and laugh, or make them do silly stuff to capture the moment. Maybe someday I can take your pict-” When the waitress showed up Daisy grabbed the menu and started running her eyes down the menu. She hadn’t given any thought to what she wanted to eat and the lady hovering over her wasn’t amused. Nachos, tacos, spaghetti, meatloaf, turkey, chicken. Crap! Nothing seemed appetizing. Gwen was definitely going to figure out she was indecisive. “Uhhhh, I’ll have the-” And then Daisy’s face went bright red, shooting Gwen a look of surprise as her feet rubbed against her own. A bashful smile showed up on Daisy’s face as she looked at the waitress. “The fish of the day? With fries on the side, thank you.” Daisy played with a lock of pink hair twirling it around her finger aimlessly before she realized she was flirting. Was that flirting? It was something! She tried to stop her smile from growing but it just stayed on her face like a derp. With enough courage, she met Gwen’s toes with her own and returned the fun under the table. This was going to be a great first date after all.

While Gwen went on with her plan, she quickly started skimming through her menu and selected something immediately so that she could get rid of the waitress. "Umm, I'll have Nachos with the dip to go with" She said looking at her and then focusing back to dazzeled Daisy. "So you were saying something about taking pictures of me?" Gwen tried to resume the conversation right where they got interrupted while she felt a toe brushing against hers. Gwen smiled a bit looking right at Daisy and let out a small giggle. "Y-your face is all red, Daisy" Gwen said as she couldn't control but laugh as if no one's watching. Everybody nearby were all watching a woman looking like someone having a mid life crisis is laughing like evil. "You girl were so clueless and cute at the same time" She said catching her breath and holding her hand in hers which was lying on the table just like that. "I'm so sorry to do that to you, but I wanted to do something fun. Something stupid yet something that you'd remember" Gwen suddenly turned all mature in a second after doing something so childish.

“I thought it was funny, although I don’t think our server likes us very much.” Daisy was quietly laughing after the waitress turned to leave. She couldn’t believe Gwen had the nerve to startle her like that! Daisy thought Gwen was sort of mysterious. Not anything like she expected after checking her out on that dating app. She sipped on her bloody mary and popped another olive into her mouth, chewing on the salty flesh of the vegetable, one of her favorite treats that no one really knew about. Her hand moved to Gwen’s and looked at her palm, studying the lines curving around her thumb stretching to the edge of her hand. “Looks like you’re going to live a long life and marry someone incredibly beautiful, I think their name is Daisy?” She was teasing and gently let go of Gwen’s hand. “I don’t know what I’m talking about, a friend showed me how to read palms once a very long time ago but the information didn’t stick.” She crossed her leg under the table to stop the game they were playing with their feet, even if she secretly enjoyed fooling around. “If you want me to take your picture sometime I would love to. I’m sure you’d like my technique, I have a specific way of getting exactly what I want…. in photos, I mean.”
Avatar
"Wow sure, I like to be photographed" Gwen said with a smile as she sipped on her drink. "By the way just act really casual, but I think there is a cute girl right across the hall right in the line of our table checking you out. I don't mind that you know, you're a snac yourself" Gwen giggled looking at the girl stalking Daisy and just flashing a smile at her as she leans over the table and gives a peck onto Daisy's lips. Daisy was caught off-guard clearly, she looked startled clearly so did the girl at the distant table. "Umm, now she knows we are together I think" Gwen giggled bitting her lower lip and sipping her margarita. "How many dates have you been before this?" (edited)

Maybe it was the bloody mary or the fact Gwen surprised the crap outta her with that small but hot kiss, but she was blushing. Daisy glanced in the direction of the girl checking her out and flashed a quick but meaningful smile. She wasn’t the only one who was surprised. Teasing was usually Daisy’s job, and that was something Gwen would get to know over time. She brought her hand to Gwen’s chin and pulled her forward to get a second taste of the margarita on the girl’s lips. Daisy’s mouth melded with Gwen’s, pushing her soft flesh against her date to satisfy the need to get to know them on an intimate level. Hey, when the chemistry was right, anything was possible. As Daisy broke away she immediately grabbed her drink and took two swallows of that sweet tomato juice. Vodka had a great way of curing anxiety, and her smile was bigger than ever because of it. She propped an elbow on the table and leaned forward, tossing her hair with her hand, her breasts plunging forward in that new shirt. “Honestly, I haven’t been on many dates lately, I guess because I didn’t find anyone interesting enough. And by lately I mean six months? Maybe longer? You’re the first person I found myself wanting to break out of my shell for. Who knows….. maybe we go on date number two and I take your picture sometime?” The suggestion was relatively forward, but between Gwen’s toe-dance up her leg and the quick kiss, she was pretty sure Gwen wanted to see her again, too.

Gwen surprised by Daisy's reply with another sweet kiss took some moments to actually anticipate and react to it. As Daisy broke away from the kiss Gwen bit her lower lip and blushed a bit sipping up some margarita. "Ohh, next date should be at your place or mine, I think if we had some privacy you would be able to take much better pictures I believe" Gwen said grinning and just looking at Daisy as If she found a long lost love in an instant.
Avatar
Daisy blinked with surprise and then smiled from cheek to cheek. Gwen was so cute, and forward! Twirling a lock of her own hair around her index finger to tug on the strand as she sipped on her bloody mary. "Well I mean, yeah! We could work something out. I guess that means there's going to be a second date?"
Avatar
"Yes, ofcourse" Gwen said in an obvious tone thinking Daisy might've understood it by now that they were clicking instantly. "Oh by the way we should order something more to eat else that waitress would throw us out, she is kinda looking annoyed" Gwen says giggling a bit looking at the waitress who kind of guessed that both of them were talking about her so she herself started coming towards the table slightly adjusting some creases on her apron. “I’ll take the loaded fries, please!” Daisy peered up to the waitress with a sweet smile. She respected anyone in the service industry because she knew how hard it was to be a server. Long shifts carting food back and forth just to barely be tipped really wore the spirit down after a while. The waitress nodded, jot something down on a notepad, and glanced to Gwen now ready to take her order.
Avatar
"Umm, we'll share the fries and please get me on more glass of margarita please" Gwen said with a wide smile on her face as she gulped down what was left of her drink in a second right then and there. "Oh and Daisy, won't you love another round of that drink of yours? On me?" Gwen said cheerfully extending her hand to hold the tips of Daisy's fingers caressing them.
Avatar
“Yes, please! I would love another blood mary, actually.” She didn’t shy away from drinking the last bit of tomato juice from her first drink so the waitress could take her empty glass away. Once the server left she crossed her legs under the table and leaned towards Gwen with a smile, “So are you an only child or do you have a big family? Holidays are wild for me. I fly back to New York to see my mom and dad. I have six siblings. Two brothers and four sisters. Needless to say, things get kind of wild around the festivities.”
Avatar
"Wow, that sounds like a huge family and lots of fun" Gwen says surprised as she herself is a single child. "I'm a single child and festivals have always been like an occasion when I get to meet my folks. They live alone by themselves but I do try to take some time out and always visit them whenever I can." Gwen says looking out of the window at the setting sun as she recalls some good memories with her parents. "Uh, let's not go sulking in past. So 6 siblings huh? You're the youngest or the eldest of them all?" She says trying to cheer up things around again.
Avatar
Daisy noticed there was sadness in Gwen’s eyes so she did her best to move on from the topic, “I’m the youngest, though everyone says I act like the oldest. I think that’s because I left the house at such an early age to go travel and be on my own. I love exploring the world, which is why I dedicated my life to photography. I think in a few months I’m going to travel to either Europe or Asia….” The waitress brought over a basket of yummy fries, a fresh margarita, and a new bloody mary. There was steam spiraling off the french fries just how Daisy liked them. She picked up one of the potato wedges and brought it to her nose, smelling the fragrance of the fry. Oh boy! Her mouth started to water. She ate that one and while chewing Daisy banged her palm on the end of a ketchup bottle until the top burst off unexpectedly and ketchup splattered onto the table, staining both Daisy and Gwen’s outfit with droplets of tomato sauce.
Avatar
"Ohh Europe and Asia, both of them are perfect destinations for travelling for sure" Gwen just completed her sentence and suddenly few drops of ketchup came flying towards her dress and some on to her mouth. "Woaah, was I supposed to 'ketch' em up?" Gwen said bursting into a laughter hoping Daisy would understand her horrible try on making a pun. Gwen quickly grabbed some tissues and leaned towards Daisy to help her wipe off some ketchup which kind of already stained her perfect white top. "I think we should head to washroom and clean your shirt properly or else this lovely top will have those red stains forever and it looks costly to me" Gwen said as she stood up and quickly emptied her margarita into her belly. This was the quickest she would've ever finished it by far. "Woah, that was the fastest I ever drank a drink" Gwen squealed as she puts the glass down with a thud.
Avatar
The napkin in her lap was suddenly rolled up and tossed onto the table, crumpled and discarded never to be looked at again. “Damn that bottle of ketchup!” she laughed at Gwen’s truly awful yet glorious pun, taking a moment to scoot back from their basket of fries to take a stand. The couple dining next to them looked Daisy up and down, and it wasn’t because of the black yoga pants she was wearing - no. No, no. It was because of the red splatter all over her shirt and face. There were droplets of ketchup everywhere, even in her pink hair. Daisy unapologetically adjusted her white top making an attempt to hide the stain on her shirt. She headed down the long hallway of the restaurant, finding a bathroom thankfully unused, and pushed her one clean hand against the door to open it. It was a typical rustic bathroom. The walls were yellow with live plants scattered about. There were vines climbing up the walls of the ceiling in search of daylight pouring in through an open skylight. “Oh, this is definitely ruined,” she said to Gwen as she turned the sink on and started the cold water, grabbing a paper towel, soaking it, and began dabbing at the blots of red permanently embedded onto the fabric of her shirt.
Avatar
Gwen tried to keep up the pace with Daisy and they entered old rusty looking bathroom. Gwen grabbed some paper towel and started pressing them gently against the stains. "It'll be all okay, umm maybe if we could reach my place till it dries out we can apply some baking soda and soak it in water for sometime and it will be as good as new" Gwen suggested while she still tries and dab on the stain. Honestly, Daisy looked so much more cute when she is tensed Gwen thought smiling a bit thinking about it and she suddenly snapped back to reality. "So, what do you say? Shall we? My place is not far from here" Gwen asked looking at Daisy with both her hands on her waist waiting for an answer while wishing she says yes in her mind.
Avatar
Maybe it was the bloody mary encouraging her to say yes, either way, Daisy agreed, “Yeah, let’s get out of here. There’s a long line of people waiting for a table, we can give our waitress new customers to torment.” One of the stalls flushed and low n’ behold - out walked their waitress, who gave them each a dirty look before washing their hands, and left the restroom without a word. “I have brilliant timing, if you couldn’t tell,” she laughed and walked out of the bathroom with a shirt that was now stained, and soaking wet in certain places. “Want to meet me in the front? I’ll pay, and you can get the next one. Try to wave down a taxi if you see any outside.” Daisy left Gwen for the time being, making her way to the podium in the back where she could check-out. It was an easy process, and not before long, Daisy was wandering to the front of the building looking for Gwen.
Avatar
"Sure, next one is on me" Gwen says with a smile and walks towards the front of the hotel. She looks around the road and sees one cab coming towards the restaurant. She waves her hand in air gesturing towards the other side of the road, noticing this the driver slows down a little near to the entrance where Gwen stood. She leaned down a bit and conveyed the address to the driver and told him to wait till Daisy is back. Gwen looks around from near the cab at the gate searching for Daisy as she walked out right at the same time. She calls her out excited like a small kid. "Heya, Daisy. Here. I got us a cab" She sort of shouted jumping up and down.
Avatar
Daisy came rushing out of the busy restaurant, bursting into view, suddenly doused by hot sunlight. Her pink hair swam over her shoulders. Feet skipping. At this point, everyone could see the ketchup splatter on her shirt and this unfortunate yet hilarious scene made several heads turn in her direction. “Nice!” she said to Gwen, taking her by the hand and quickly ushered her into the cab. “Sorry I ruined our meal, I promise I’m usually not this, uhm…” Daisy looked down at her shirt and wrinkled her nose, “...prone to accidents?” Once they were safely tucked inside the cab, the engine started, and off they went. She rolled the window down, because it was an old school taxi, and let the air wash over her. The sensation felt great mixed with the small high of being only slightly drunk. “What part of town do you live in?” she asked her date, clutching onto the wet and stained fabric wrapped about her chest.
Avatar
"I live near the suburbs, it's fun not a lot of chaos and I get to see these amazing sunsets from my huge balcony, you'll love it" Gwen says excitingly as they almost reached her place as the taxi slowed down near the left of the road. Gwen jumps out like an inpatient child and quickly pays off the cabbie. "Let's get you some new clothes or maybe none?" She smiled slyly trying to catch Daisy's reaction off gaurd. They both walked into the lobby and Gwen pressed the button with a down arrow.
