It was October 27th, 2250, it had been three weeks since news stations worldwide began reporting on the mass disappearance of humans. Many all over the world seemingly vanished from their daily lives, leaving their family and friends to wonder what truly happened. After about a week or so, the deaths began, and seemed to be an extinction event of sorts. However, there were many sightings of various entities throughout the world, with many saying it was the end of times and “The Rapture” had occurred. Many humans attempted to hide and survive the best they could, but it wasn’t enough. By the second week a good potion of humanity had seemingly been wiped from existence, with more and more of the entities appearing as the weeks went on. By the third week it was confirmed by many that these entities were in fact, Angels and Demons. However, it’s been reported that it had been the Angels who were responsible for all of the death and destruction that caused the end of times. This caused mass confusion, as everyone had thought it was quite the opposite, but they were wrong. One of these humans who thought the opposite was Midas, he had been terminally ill, and by the time “The Rapture” had occurred, most of his family, friends, and city had vanished. He had been one of the last survivors of his town, becoming the lone survivor just a few days afterwards as most left or were killed. This caused a lot of emotional trauma for Midas. Not being use to the loneliness, and to top, his illness was getting worse, and it had only been a matter of time since he expired. He had almost been caught a multitude of times by Angels and Demons alike, but managed to escape by the skin of his teeth. But October 27th had other plans for him. Midas walked down the seemingly empty roads of his town. His face riddled with grief and sadness as he had just experienced another death at the hands of the Angels.
08:13
It was just, so surprising to see how Angels were the opposite of what they were described to be. It truly blew Midas away that now, Demons appeared to be the good guys, whilst Angels seemed to be the bad guys. However, after hearing that God had grown tired of humanities sins, he simply couldn’t understand why or how, as it was always said God forgives all sins—so what changed? Midas quickly made his way towards an abandoned library, the roof being destroyed by a battle between an Angel and Demon not too long ago. He made his way inside, making sure to run into one of the far back rooms, where he resided. He quickly checked his surroundings for any holy or unholy entity, before sighing in relief upon seeing the coast was clear for now. He quickly set down a large backpack he had on, full of supplies and a few weapons in case he had to fight. Midas didn’t particularly like violence, but only used it when he truly had too, and it bothered him even when he did. Also in his bag, was some medication that he needed in case he grew sick from a common cold or in worst case scenarios. There was also medical things needed for his illness such as oxygen, incase he couldn’t breathe, and an epi-pen in case of allergic reactions to anything. Midas then sat down on what appeared to be a mattress, sighing again as he wondered what he should do next. Should he leave this town? Should he give up and allow himself to be killed? Or in the worse case, save himself the trouble? It was all overwhelming to him, and without the guidance or support of his friends and family, he felt he couldn’t do anything. He then heard a somewhat loud thud, his head snapping towards the door way as his fear spiked. Midas slowly, and as silently ad possible, stood up and began packing up, grabbing his backpack and carefully putting it on. His hazel eyes still locked onto the door way in case he had to run, and his wavy, long brown hair flowed in front of his face, terrified.

Ephemera BOT 25-Sep-21 11:35 AM
Ephemera remembered clearly the day she was sent down to Earth. Standing at Heavens Gates, amongst the millions of other Angels, ready to follow through with Gods orders. Her eyes were fixated on the back of the head of the Angel standing in front of her. A quick glance around, Ephemera was not used to seeing the Angels in this form. A human form. Lacking eyes and wings. Her head turned down for a moment as she stared at her own hands, curling her fingers as she grew used to the sensation. The Archangels, the strongest of the Angels, stood at the front of the lines, waiting for confirmation from their once forgiving God to unleash his fury upon the Humans he once so loved. Ephemera was just a normal Angel, easily hidden amongst the other Angels. As she stood there, Ephemera began to wonder what had changed. God once loved Humans, forgiving their sins and wiping the slate clean. Why was it that now, he hated them? That day changed a lot for everyone. Ephemera carried out Gods orders, though a part of her always wondered if she was actually doing the right thing. It wasn't long before Lucifer sent Demons to Earth as well, hoping to protect the Humans from the wrath of God. Lucifer, a fallen angel, had grown to love the Humans for the same reason that God hated them. They were imperfect, capable of sins and tragedy and pain. You cannot have good without the bad, and Lucifer fought to protect that. Ephemera agreed, though she would never say anything aloud to the other Angels, who all blindly followed Gods orders without complaint. October 27th, 2250, according to the Humans calendar, Ephemera found herself wandering a vast empty city alone. "Survey the city. Kill any survivors. The rest of us are moving on before the enemy shows up."
11:36
Ephemera, clad in uncomfortable human clothes, walked the street with purpose. She flipped her blade in her hand, one of the many tricks she learned during her days on Earth. It didn't take long to find a small group of survivors, huddled in the back room of what used to be a convenience store. They begged for mercy, tears streaming down their face. Her heart wrenched for a moment, yet she still struck them down where they stood. Her face was void of emotion, walking away from the bodies that were once breathing. Her clothes were stained with blood, and while Ephemera knew she could easily rid the blood with her powers, she didn't want to make that effort until she knew she got the remaining survivors. Her footfalls were the only sounds to be heard on the street, a haunting sound for any survivors holed up in any of the building. Her legs quickly carried her through the avenues, and eventually, Ephemera found herself standing in front of a library. The Angel walked inside, glancing at the dust-covered books that filled the shelves. Ephemera entered the Library mostly out of curiosity, but it was quickly shut down when she heard some rustling coming from a back room. Ephemera made her way towards the room, trying to be as silent as possible. Her foot accidentally hit a nearby table, and a heavy book dropped to the floor, the loud thud echoing throughout the library. Ephemera silently cursed to herself, knowing her cover was blown. Not taking anymore chances, Ephemera equipped her blade and walked to the back room. Her hand gripped the doorknob, and as she swung the door open, she was met with the sight of a scared young man. Her eyes darted across the room, seeing the oxygen and medication, the essentials for survival. Ephemera could sense he was ill, it wasn't hard to tell. She stared at him for a moment, unable to strike him with her blade. She sheathed it, standing up straight to look at him.
11:36
"How long have you been here?" Ephemera asked, her face contorting into a look of worry, the most emotion she's shown since arriving.  She couldn't strike him down, Ephemera spent eons protecting the Humans, she didn't want to continue her killing spree. She didn't want to kill him.

Upon hearing the approaching footsteps Midas began to fill with panic. He looked around for any alternative exits in case he had to use one, but none seemed to be available, and he had ran out of time anyway. Hearing the door rattle with contact made Midas sink to the floor in fear, and seeing the door swing open made his whole body weak. Making eye contact with the angelic being, Midas began to crawl the best he could backwards, but only moved a few inches at best. He soon struggled to breathe, wheezing and taking quick a shallow breaths, his seemingly fragile body preparing for its sealed fate. However, as Ephemera sheathed her blade and entered the room, he noticed that she was much taller than the average human. Hearing her speak Midas quickly began to stutter, whilst also attempting to breathe. He quickly and desperately crawled over to his oxygen, hastily grabbing the oxygen mask and placing it over his mouth before attempting deep breaths. After a few attempts, the apparent hyperventilating calmed down and Midas was able to breathe normally. He then glanced back over to the woman, immense dread and fear in his body as he then tried to form words. “T-Two…we-we-weeks…my family…the-they vanished…le-left me alone…my fri-friends…ho-how? Why?” Midas asked, his tone full of terror. It had been a while since he had been this up close with an Angel, and the only way he could tell was by the blood stained clothing. “It’s no-not fair…I’ve li-lived a good life…I never hurt anyone, st-stole…killed…why is God…wanting to kill me and other people?” Midas noticed the worry in Ephemera’s face, which made Midas curious. He had always noticed that when an Angel killed, they held no emotion, only showing it after they’ve killed their targets or when they had grown angry. Yet, this Angel was different, why?
15:04
It was very obvious that Midas was ill not just by the medication and oxygen, but his appearance. His cheeks had been sunken in, he looked skinny as compared to the average male, and he just looked awful. It also appeared that there was something wrong with him mentally, as he had been greatly affected by this outbreak of events. He quietly, carefully, and cautiously stood up, making sure to keep his eyes locked on the Angelic being. Midas was still rather skeptical that she had been there to ask him that question, and thought she had just been trying to lower his guard. “I-I don’t want to die…not ye-yet at least…there’s still so much to d-do. This earth will be here l-long after me, so I want to make it be-beautiful before I go.” Midas then walked over to a corner of the room, his body seemingly trembling with fear as he bent down and picked up a large pot. It took him a few moments as his strength had dwindled over the weeks, he then turned around and flash a small tree that was growing. “I want to pl-plant this tr-tree so if I co-come back, I can sit under it. I mean, I probably won’t reincarnate now that I know An-Angels and demons exist.” *He then placed the pot down, sighing in exhaustion as he practically fell to the floor, coughing like crazy and covering his mouth.

Ephemera BOT 26-Sep-21 12:07 PM
Ephemera watched as the human moved across the room, breathing in deeply from the oxygen mask. He was ill, terribly so. She stood back, removing her hand from the sheathed blade and standing up straight. The Angel quickly fixed her facial expression, erasing the worried look and putting on a stoic face once again. Two weeks. Two weeks holed up in a place like this, barely surviving, as the Angels, once thought to be the good guys, created chaos on an unknown scale. Ephemera stifled another look of worry, sighing lightly as he explained the meaning of the tree. Reincarnation was not to happen. God grew sick of humans destroying the haven he created for them, but this human seemed so... sweet. Without sin. A human of which God could love once again. Yet she knew her mission. Kill all survivors. Ephemera couldn't bring herself to grab her blade though. She just stared at him, his weak form, the medications and other survival needs surrounding him. "Stay hidden. I-" Ephemera tilted her head to the side for a moment. "I cannot cure you of your sickness. That is a power reserved for the Archangels, of which I am not. The angels have moved on. You'll be safe here." She spoke softly, stepping out of the room. Taking once last glance at Midas, Ephemera closed the door softly, ultimately deciding to spare the human. Disobeying direct orders. Ephemera knew there was no other survivors in the city, except for Midas. She stared at the door that separated the two for a moment, wondering if she did the right thing. In a haste, she left the library. She knew she would have to move on to the next city, aiding in obliterating the population, but Ephemera knew she couldn't leave Midas alone here. If any other Angels were to come back, they would kill him immediately and punish Ephemera.
12:07
As she wandered the streets, Ephemera came up with an excuse to explain why she stayed in the city. If any Humans arrive here in an attempt to make sanctuary in the destroyed city, I will take care of them easily. I will send warning should any of Lucifers demons arrive as well. I will stay back. You all move on. I'll be okay alone. An easy excuse. A believable one. Ephemera sent her message ahead to the others, through what the humans would call 'telepathy', she believed it was called. It was the only way of communication between Angels in their true form. Ephemera sat down outside of the Library, tapping her feet against the concrete ground. She wondered, should she go back inside?

Midas was shocked to hear that this being told him to stay hidden, ultimately deciding to spare his life. It was even more shocking to hear that she couldn’t cure him of his sickness, but most of the danger had seemingly passed. “I- why?” The man asked quietly, watching as Ephemera stepped out of the room. He was curious to know why she had seemingly spared his life and not end it like any mere Angel would do. However, he would have to wait for his answer, as she had soon closed the door. Midas then paused for a moment, moving the oxygen mask away from his mouth and throwing up. His adrenaline was going through the roof, and he had been so terrified of the outcome of the situation it had made his stomach turn. He quickly composed himself, wiping away and vomit from his mouth before waking back over to his backpack. “I can’t believe I survived that…I didn’t think that an Angel would’ve been here.” Midas then began to rummage through the backpack, pulling out what seemed to be prepared meal package and a bottle of water. He let out a small cough, making sure to be quiet incase another Angel has decided to come by the surrounding area. Midas had been unaware that Ephemera had telepathically communicated with other Angels in the area and lied, and so was incredibly paranoid. He quickly took a seat on his mattress, opening the prepackaged meal and beginning to eat. Midas had to eat with his hands unfortunately, as there hadn’t been any form of silverware available to him him days. He didn’t mind this however, as most of it was finger foods. The only complaint he had was it didn’t taste very well, however he had to eat to consume his medicine. After finishing his meal he took a long sip of water, before cutting himself off and reaching for the pill bottles. Midas then opened two pill bottles, taking two capsules from each before closing them and putting them on the floor. He then put them into his mouth, and used water to wash them down.
12:38
He then stood up, sighing quietly before looking over towards the door. Curiosity burned inside of Midas, he wanted to know the reasoning for Ephemera’s sudden humanity. Angels we’re never seen as good people or creatures anymore, and were only seen as ruthless killers. Yet, this one had been different, and he couldn’t let it go. Midas was extremely exhausted however, and decided to rest before going to find this Angel. He went back to his mattress, moving everything on it to the side and laying down. Almost immediately, he passed out, waking up a few hours after sunset. Midas then got out of bed, coughing a little bit before looking around in a daze. Everything seemed so blurry, and there was a constant ring in his ears for a moment before he regained his senses. Carefully, he made his way to the door and opened it, looking around the empty and dark library. Midas didn’t see the need to bring his backpack, as usually he never really saw any danger other than an occasional Demon patrol. But, there was some moonlight which made it easier for Midas to see, and so took the opportunity to go out whilst he could see. He quickly exited his room, making his way outside as he looked around. The atmosphere at night seemed much more eerie. Since there hadn’t been humans in the area, the silence was deafening, and off in the distance were either Angels or Demons. Midas quickly looked down towards the stairs, noticing that Ephemera had been sitting down on the steps. He froze, wondering if he should truly reveal his presence and risk an altercation, or simply retreat back into the library.

Ephemera BOT 29-Sep-21 10:24 PM
The day had dragged on. Afternoon turned to evening, thus bringing night. Blue, to fiery orange, to ink black dotted with billions of stars. Ephemera watched the sky change colours over the course of hours. It was truly a sight to behold. Millions of paint strokes marking the blank canvas. Truly, absolutely, amazingly wonderful to experience it firsthand. Ephemera had no need for rest. She essentially had infinite stamina, but that didn't mean she didn't take her fair share of rest. Most of her time during quiet periods between travelling was spent looking at the night sky. Watching the sky slowly roll across her vision as she laid her head down. That night though, as she sat in front of the library, Ephemeras thoughts were fixated on the human inside. Midas. Why didn't she just kill him? What stopped her? Ephemera has slaughtered hundreds, if not thousands of people around the world without so much as blinking. So why was it now, seeing Midas there, barely hanging on to life, why did she spare him? She could sense his kindness, his sin-free mind and heart, but he was still human. Ephemera followed the orders given to her to a tee, she was an obedient angel, even if she didn't agree with Gods new ruling. But she still disobeyed orders for some mere human being. "I know you're there." Ephemera spoke up, feeling the presence of Midas behind her. She stayed seated, her gaze fixated on the sky above her. By then, Ephemera had rid her clothes of the blood splatters. Being spared by an Angel during this time was probably terrifying enough, Ephemera didn't want to scare him more by continuing to be covered in blood. Her blade stayed sheathed, but Ephemeras hand stayed near it in case any Demons arrived. "You have questions. I can sense that. Sit. I will not hurt you." Her voice was soft. She spoke very properly, and rarely. Ephemera had no need to speak unless it was directed to a human, so she was still getting used to her voice.

Midas froze upon hearing the Angel speak. He thought for a moment how she could’ve sensed him, before instantly remembering she was an Angel. Upon hearing her request for him to sit, he quietly obliged, walking down a few steps until standing right besides her. His anxiety spiked, Ephemera and her presence was intimidating, and knowing that she could kill him at any moment, which caused his anxiety. He soon sat down, a small, nervous sigh coming from him as he glanced over to the Angel. “Why did god choose to do this?” Midas asked his first question, not even giving her a moment to respond. “This being took everyone I loved away from me…they did much worse then I did yet…he-here I am, suffering alone.” Midas seemed to want to ramble on and vent about the problems The Rapture caused, and it was just. “Everyday, I would search for them, wondering where they’d gone, un-until I had realized what was going on. Everywhere I went your kind decimated mine, whilst the beings we thought were going to do that protected us. Why?” Midas sounded upset, his voice becoming shaky, and his face becoming red. He was attempting to hide tears, but it was becoming harder. “I haven’t done any wrong, I’ve lived as a good person. I’ve been treated like absolute trash my whole fucking life. My friends and family were the only ones I cared about, and they’re gone. Fighting for some being who probably brainwashed them to think humans are evil.” Midas then let out a small sigh, looking up to the sky and seeing a shooting star. “Well, at least the nighttime is once again beautiful. Ever since the power grid went offline, it’s been a blessing.” Midas then rubbed his arm, shaking his head as he realized he vented to Ephemera. “I ap-apologize. I understand you don’t care about humans, yet I can’t help but express it. It sucks, not even God cared about me in the end.” That last sentence seemed to break Midas, as soon he began to cry uncontrollably.
04:27
Midas then let out a small chuckle, shaking his head and wiping his tears after a few moments, yet they continue to flow. “This is crazy, I’m dying, the end of the world happened, I’m alone, now I’m talking to an Angel. What’s next?” He asked aloud, mainly talking to himself as he stood up, walking down a few steps. He stopped however, beginning to have a small coughing fit, coughing up a little blood. Another sigh came from Midas, looking towards the sidewalk below, seeing a few dead bodies scattered around. It was awful, yet seemingly natural at this point, making Midas sit down. His breathing became a bit labored, calming down after a little and standing back up. “It just sucks, I don’t have much time left. It hurts my chest, my body…I’m so sick of it.” Midas then walked back up the stairs, practically almost collapsing on the set of stairs before Ephemera. A small cough coming from him before he fixed himself, sitting on the stairs.

Ephemera BOT 20-Oct-21 12:22 AM
Ephemera sat quietly, her body unmoving as she listened closely to Midas speak. Her face remained blank, but she still felt bad as he vented to her. She didn't blame him for his anger one bit, as she too felt anger towards their supposedly all-forgiving God. In just a few weeks, which felt like mere seconds to Ephemera, Midas watched the human race being obliterated by the beings meant to protect them. Ephemera remembered the first few days, when Humans truly believed they could fight back. They charged at the Angels in droves, weapons in hand, which did little to no damage to the all-powerful beings. The Angel turned around as she heard Midas stumble, a look of worry flashing across her face for a moment. With a deep exhale, Ephemera scooted closer to Midas, wanting to be close in case he fell over. "I cannot tell you exactly why God chose to do this. We were simply told to carry out his orders, that he was sick of humans." Ephemera spoke quietly, turning her attention back to the skies. The stars slowly drifted as the Earth rotated in space. "I am older than time itself, and yet, I have never seen Him hint at any sort of hatred towards the Humans. He only ever spoke highly of you beings, and yet, it changed." Ephemera glanced over at Midas, her face falling. As she was about to speak up once more, she stopped all movement. The Angel glanced to the road leading West, focusing for a moment. "Midas, go inside." She spoke firmly, unsheathing her blade and standing up. Her footfalls could be heard in the streets, just slightly louder than the blowing wind. "Now." 'Effie. I thought we settled this back in Europe.' The voice was loud in her head. 'Where's your Angel friends at? Why are you in this ghost town, still? Protecting someone? Maybe we should tell on you.' Ephemera knew who it was immediately. Demons.

M: Midas was a bit confused, she had been going on about how god just seemingly hated humans out of the blue and how she had been around since before time. Now, she had been seemingly paranoid and told him to go inside? He looked to the road leading west, noticing that in the distance there had been two flying objects heading towards them. Quickly, Midas stood up, thinking that it had been other angels, and took off into the library once more despite his chest feeling extremely tight. A wave of fear came over Midas once more, and as the demons approached it had been more obvious they were demons. It was one male, and one female, and as they approached closer to Ephemera, they came to a slow stop. “Well, if it isn’t little Effie. I would’ve assumed you knew not to come around us, had you not learned from Europe?” The male asked, unsheathing his own sword from his sheath before pointing it towards Ephemera. “You angels have caused us nothing but problems. Now, we have to be the protectors and the recruiters, but it seems to us that there ain’t anyone here, so why are you here?” He asked, seemingly becoming more aggressive and defensive. Midas remained behind the main doors of the library, listening the best he could to the conversation. He heard a males voice, and hearing how he spoke made Midas realize that these were demons. Peeking out from behind the doors, he looked down the road and noticed the three beings standing in the road, and as he glanced to the female demon, he had noticed she had locked eyes with him. Midas watched on as his heart dropped in terror, noticing that she had squinted to get a better view before he dipped his head back into the building and ran off towards the deeper parts. He quickly hid behind a bookshelf deep within the library, making sure that there wasn’t any openings behind him. Noticing the female look towards the library, the male looked and then chuckled. “It sends you are protecting someone…how would you feel if your friends knew you were protecting the thing you should be destroying?” He asked teasingly, taking a step closer, moving his blade closer to her body. “Anastasia, go check that library, I know you saw something.” He stated, glancing over to the demon who now had the name Anastasia. “I’ll deal with this…creature.” He added, voice deep as his yellow eyes pulsating.

Ephemera stood her ground, Angelic Blade in hand. The stance she took showed she was ready for a battle. "Aamon. Anastasia. Don't." Ephemera watched as the female demon continued to walk towards the library. Her scowl faltered for a moment, knowing they would kill, thus recruiting, Midas. "Why should we listen to you? Are you hiding something, Effie? Or someone? Aamon smirked, waving Anastasia away so she would continue walking. Ephemera glanced at Aamon, gripping the handle of blade which molded perfectly to the palm of Ephemeras hand. Anastasia got closer to the library, which prompted Ephemera to start running towards her. "Oh no you don't." Aamon spoke up, and with a wave of his hand, a car floated into the air and flew towards Ephemera, knocking her to the ground. Ephemera watched as Anastasia walked into the library, leaving her outside with the male demon, Aamon. "Poor little Effie. Still the weakest of the bunch, aren't you?" Aamon teased as he walked over to Ephemera. "Sincerely though, thank you. Now we're just gaining another team member." After a slight struggle, Ephemera stood from the ground, turning to face Aamon. "You will not win, Aamon. This is Gods orders. He always prevails." "That's some big talking coming from an disobedient Angel who's protecting a human. God would smite you in a moment if he found out. Are you sure you're on the right team? Because your actions say otherwise." Aamon teased, flipping his blade in his hand. "Come on, Effie. Come join us. You know you want too." "Screw you." Ephemera growled, getting ready to attack at a moments notice.

Midas hid deep within the library, hiding up above in the upper levels in areas he thought would mostly be unreachable. However, hearing the echoing footsteps of Anastasia made his head drop, and Midas had to do everything in his power. ’Don’t you dare cough Midas’ He thought to himself, hearing the demons footsteps come to a halt before then hearing a flap of wings. She had flown up into the air to reach the upper levels, leaving Midas to do nothing more then to stay quiet and do his best to survive. He didn’t know weather or not the demons would kill him for working with Ephemera, or just because they also share a hatred for humans. Either way he knew he had to escape. He then heard the echoing of footsteps once more. Great, she had landed, prefer opportunity to make his way towards an exit. Carefully, he peeked his head out, watching Anastasia walk by, before wrapping around a large bookshelf. Adrenaline rushed through Midas, and as he walked out into the open, he booked it. Not turning around, he knew that Anastasia was close behind him, and his adrenaline began to pump faster. He ran towards an apparent room, noticing a broken window, and knew that’d be his only chance for an escape. Midas quickly entered the room, slamming the door behind him before turning back around and climbing out the window. Anastasia was too late opening the door, because by the time she opened it, Midas was already outside and wrapping around the building. Midas locked eyes with Ephemera and Aamon, his eyes widening as he had never seen two creatures such as an Angel and demon fight, this close. It amazed Midas so much that he froze in place, watching the two stand defensively against each other. He was so surprised, and so frozen that he didn’t realize Anastasia was coming for him still, and before he knew it he felt the woman wrap an arm his neck and begin to restrain him.
