Abbie let out a long sigh of relief, raising her hands high into the air as she stood in front of her Jeep. She was facing a large mountain that she and her friend, Oliver, were supposed to climb and camp on for several days. She glanced back to see if Oliver was done getting his backpack out of the back of her Jeep. "You ready yet?! Jesus Christ, Oli, you take longer to get ready than some of my ex-girlfriends!" She laughed. Abbie did have quite a history of lovers in her past. Abbie walked over to Oliver, clapping him on the back. Her long coppery red hair was tied in a messy bun atop her head, her bright emerald green eyes shining brightly in the morning sunlight. Abbie was dressed in a pair of hiking leggings (athletic leggings, thanks to Wally World!) and a flannel shirt. Her boots came up to her ankles, and she even wore a puffer vest to keep warm. "It's supposed to get cold soon. Can we please hurry up, Princess?"

“Jesus Abbie sometimes you’re like a child. But, I’m almost down.” Oliver responded, sounding a bit whiny as he put on his North Face jacket with a playfully laugh. “You know for a place with wonderful mountains, the scenery sure sucks so far.” Oliver chuckled, placing his backpack on his back and walking towards the front of the car. “So, how longs the trail? I’d like to be back before dark so we don’t have to spend the night in the car, okay?” Oliver teased, stretching his legs out as he looked around the area. It was mostly forest area, and the areas that were visible were either campgrounds, or just open spots in the environment. However, there was a feeling of unease coming from a particular area. “Do you feel as if someone’s watching you?” Oliver asked, looking around before walking over to a ledge of sorts and looking down. “I can’t tell from where but it’s just…” He then glanced up an d to the left, noticing an apparent couple in masks, before seeing them disappear into the woods. “Right…that was a bit…odd? To say the least.” Oliver said aloud, looking back to Abbie and walking back over to her. “Ready to go? Slowpoke?” He teased once more, gently and playfully smacking her arm before beginning to start on the trail, a large smile on his face as he looked back.

"We're camping out here, remember?" Abbie laughed. "And stop your griping! The scenery is gorgeous! Stop being such a whiner." She giggled. However, as soon as Oliver asked if she felt if someone was watching them, her spine tingled... Abbie glanced around, not seeing anyone but... still. She did feel... kind of strange. Oliver called to her and whacked her arm, making her glare at him. "Alright, jackass, keep moving!" She laughed, pushing him forward. The two headed into the woods, the trail bringing them straight through the mountain's trees and along the river. Abbie smiled as she looked around at the trees. The sun glistening overhead. The sounds of birds chirping in the air was so soothing. Suddenly, a quick snap of a twig made her look to the left of the trail. Nothing. Everything was deathly still. "Oli? Did you hear that?"

“Ah fuck, we’re camping out here that’s right. I hope you don’t mind when I say I forgot one of the portable chargers.” Oliver commented quietly with a sigh as he continued to walk. He looked around, slowing his pace to walk right besides Abbie. The scenery as the two walked began to improve to Oliver, the mountains trees were abundant and full of life, and the river was clearer than most. A bit of sunshine grazed Oliver’s face, the warmth from the sun was a pleasant feeling, which made him grin happily. The birds chirping made him look up to trees or areas in the sky curiously, watching a few birds fly around until he heard a twig snap. Everything went silent, and as he looked down and towards Abbie, Oliver noticed she was looking to the left. He quickly examined the area, a look of paranoia creeping onto his face as he nodded. “I did hear that, what was it? It couldn’t have been a light animal.” Oliver whispered, taking Abbies hand gently and then gripping it tightly. He had been ready to run for it, had there been a bear of mountain lying lurking in area. “Let’s go, I’m feeling uncomfortable around her.” Oliver then pulled Abbie, but as he did so, he noticed a strange mark on a tree trunk nearby. He carefully dropped his hand and walked over, examining and wondering what it was.

Abbie frowned, holding Oliver’s hand. Normally she would tease him about such shows of affection, but… honestly… at this point she really didn’t care. Swallowing hard, Abbie turned to leave with Oliver. As they turned though, Oliver stopped again. “What?” She asked, raising a brow. Glancing to where Oliver was looking, she saw the tree. Carved into the tree was a human like design, but the head seemed to be missing. Abbie frowned, the design seeming to… beckon to her. Hesitantly, Abbie began to walk towards the tree.

“Who did this? What do you think it means?” Oliver asked Abbie with a confused, yet uncomfortable look. He glanced around behind their surroundings, wondering if they were trying alone in these woods or not. “Abs baby, something isn’t right. Why would there be something like this in the woods?” He then took a step back, looking at any other tree for a sign of the mark. “This is seriously some cliché horror movie type shit. What if it’s a serial killer? Or like a satanic cult?” Oliver asked worriedly, paranoia setting in as he took a deep breath, attempting to calm himself down. “What do you want to do, Abbie, did you want to turn around? Or continue? I vote turn around.” Oliver remarked, walking back towards the tree.

Abbie jumped as Oliver spoke to her. She stopped moving towards the tree and she looked around at the other trees. She didn't see any more markings. Quietly, she looked around at the trees. Everything was deathly silent, and while that would have normally made her feel better... this didn't. "Oli. Stop being such a baby. It's probably just some stupid teenagers making a horror movie or something. Come on. Let's go." She said, reaching for his wrist. She grabbed him and tugged him along, pulling him back onto the trail and along the trail further. The two continued to traverse the path, and every now and then, Abbie would hear a snap of a twig, but it would just turn out to be an animal. Or... so she thought. Finally, by the time the sun was slowly lowering into the horizon, Abbie found a large clearing. "Alright, Oli. Let's set up camp, okay?" She called.

Oliver glanced back, nodding as she grabbed and tugged him along. The dead silence made everything worse, as not being able to hear anything around them made him on edge, and is if they were being hunted in some way. Traversing the path, Oliver would snap his head in the direction of the twig snap, wondering what was truly out there and if it was human, or something more. “Abbie.” Oliver said with a hallow, yet serious tone. “We should just get out of here. I don’t believe that we’re alone, and I’m getting bad vibes.” He explained, walking over to the center of the clearing, and looking down. The area seemed burned, and appeared to be a perfect circle in the middle. Oliver bent down, looking around for any signs of humans. He then looked up, and in the wooded area a few feet infront of him, stood a man in what appeared to be a bloodied bunny mask. Oliver’s heart dropped, and an unsettling feeling overwhelmed him, seeing a woman, and then another man come out from behind the trees. “A-Abbie!?” Oliver called out in a panic, watching as the three shook their heads and turning, walking off to seemingly not be seen.

Abbie jumped as Oliver yelped. "Oli?!" She turned her head, seeing him standing by the trees, clearly terrified of something. Abbie rushed over to him, the leaves and twigs crunching under her hiking boots. "Oli, Oli, hon, what happened?" She touched his arm, her own eyes filled with concern. "Oli, I promise. No one is out here. Here?" She gestured out to the woods, which currently displayed nothing but the trees and scenery of the mountains. All was quiet. Not a single sound except for the rustling of small animals or the song of a bird. "See?" She said quietly. "Come on. Let's make camp. A fire will definitely take the creepiness out of this place." She laughed a little, but her laugh was not convincing. While she had not seen the same beings that Oliver did, Abbie felt the same uncomfortable feeling of being watched. The snapping of twigs and leaves sounded far too large and often to be a squirrel or even a rabbit. Swallowing hard, Abbie took Oliver's hand and pulled him closer to the fire. She had already started gathering a few branches. "We can share a tent, okay? I think that's going to be the saf- I mean, comfiest, you know?"

Oliver nodded in agreement. Abbie was right, he had been far too paranoid and began to see things. However, not really noticing the not so convincing laugh, Oliver looked at her a smiled a little bit, feeling a little more comfortable now that he had been reassured. “Fires make everything better, so I hope you’re right.” Oliver commented, looking back to the area he had saw the beings before being taken back to the fire. Hearing the occasional snap of a twig or leaves rustling made Oliver giddy. Why were the sounds so frequent? Had there truly been other humans in this area? Had there been a bear? Thoughts such as those filled Oliver as he looked towards the fire pit. “We need to grab a few more sticks. But, I think for now we can make do.” Oliver said in a whisper, not really wanting either of them to go out a grab stuff at this point. Once Annie mentioned sharing a tent, Oliver immediately nodded and found immense comfort in that. He also realized that Abbie had went to say something, hey stopped her self and changed the word to ‘comfiest’ which made Oliver more paranoid. However, he quickly shook his head, getting on one knee and beginning to align the sticks up in an erect position. After that, he grabbed some dead leaves from the floor, placing them in the fire pit before taking off his bag and placing it on the floor. Oliver then unzipped and opened his bag, rummaging through it for a moment before finding a lighter. Flicking it active, Oliver put the flame to the leaves, watching the smoke blow opposite before an ember colored flame appeared. Leaning back, Oliver watched as the fire grew, consuming the leaves and the branches with ease. Relieved, Oliver smiled, looking over to Abbie. “Nice job gathering wood.” He said warmly, holding his hand out for a high five while looking around the area.

Abbie smiled at Oli as he began to make the fire. The sticks that he stacked began to smoke as he lit them, and soon bright orange flames began to dance over the wood, snapping and cracking the twigs until the only sound was a quick pop or snap of the fire. Abbie went to sit by Oliver, looking out into the trees. She didn't see anyone, or anything, move, so that made her feel better. "Remember when we used to go camping as kids?" She asked quietly. Back when she and Oliver were kids, she and he used to go camping all the time! However, now it seemed they barely spent time together. It was nice to be out here with him again. Abbie leaned against Oliver as the fire warmed her up. The wind was chilly and especially after being spooked and creeped out, she was ready to get warm. "Did you bring the hot dogs?" She asked, looking at Oliver's bag. "It's getting late, so we should eat soon."

Oliver looked over to her at the mention of hotdogs. He rummaged through his bag, and as he did so, let out a small chuckle. “I do remember when we camped as kids. It was fun, and remember the time we had to leave because we saw a bear?” He asked, taking the package of hot dogs out of his backpack and zipping it closed before placing it in between the two. “I hope that this goes smoothly. I hope we don’t see a bear again and have to leave.” Oliver joked, chuckling lightly once more as he placed his backpack to the side, taking the pack of hotdogs and opening them. “Did you bring the skewer? Or the sticks? Or were we suppose to just…use nature around us?” He asked in a joking manner, looking around and simply admiring the area. “This area surely got more creep now that the sun is setting.” He commented, looking back towards the glowing flames quietly and sighed, rubbing his forehead. “I’ve been seeing these weird people, they have masks on…and it’s just—odd.” Oliver began, glancing back to Abbie. “If I see them again, can we leave? I have a bad feeling about them.” Oliver seemed to grow a bit more paranoid, rubbing his leg up and down in an attempt to relax.

Abbie giggled when Oliver brought up the Bear from their childhood. “God I hope we don’t see another Bear! I’d like to camp at least one night without panicking!” She reached into her backpack and pulled out hot dog skewers. “Already ahead of you.” Oliver mentioned the masked people and Abbie frowned. She had seen someone too, but she thought she was just imagining things… “…Yeah. If you see them again, let’s go. I’ve seen enough horror movies to know that that shit isn’t good to mess around with.” She laughed, shaking her head. Abbie skewered a hot dog and held it over the open flames. She sighed, feeling a bit overwhelmed with the thought of random people being out in the woods with them. Who were those masked psychos? “When we were at the tree with the markings… did you feel like… someone was watching you?” She asked.
