The forest was quiet. The growing winds blew the leaves on the trees that surrounded the secluded cabin. A storm was beginning to blow in, and the rather young 25 year old woman was parking her boat at the dock. The grey clouds rolled in slowly, and the woman inhaled deeply. You know the smell right before it rains? The earthy smell, slightly sweet, just a hint of bitterness? She continued her walk down the dock. No fish were caught that day, but she knew she had food at her cabin from her last grocery trip into the small fishing community. It was a good set up, she would sell her fish to those who couldn’t make it to the lake, and she would use the money to buy her essentials. It was decent for her, she didn’t have to worry about hiding her identity either because most of the community was the older generation. They hadn’t heard of her or her past wrong-doings, and if they did, they just ignored them because she sold them fish. Jessica, formally known as DarkShade by the tabloids, citizens, and her nemesis, was a reformed villain. After faking her death, she went into hiding, deciding she no longer wanted to continue her path of evil. A quiet life in a forest was more her speed. Her nemesis, The Hero, thought she was dead too, at least, that’s what Jessica thought. Jessica continued up the path, running inside just as the rain began to fall. Distant sounds of thunder could be heard as Jessica took off her outer layer of clothing, leaving her in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. “Supper time.” She whispered to herself, humming a small tune as she walked towards the kitchen. Jessica stopped in her tracks, seeing a figure seated at the dining room table. “You…” She breathed shakily. “What are you doing here?” {OKAY. villain x hero plot. Ill play the ex-villain, Jessica. Known as DarkShade, a shapeshifter who was previously hellbent on societal domination. Other powers include strength and fighting skills, though those are no longer important as she’s a reformed villain. Who you will play: The ex-hero. After the ‘death’ of DarkShade, your nemesis, you slowly realize that you don’t have a life outside of hero work. So you fake your own death as well, knowing your nemesis is actually alive and in hiding, and go searching for her. Not for revenge, not for anger, but for companionship. Though, it will be a bumpy road. You both spent years at each other’s throat. Enemies-to-friends-to-lovers Slice of Life plot PLEASEEEEEEEEE.}

It was a raining night at the city, an automatic metal door opens, and an almost 6ft tall man wearing an armour suit limps his way inside the secret lair, he takes his más off breathing heavily and sits on his chair, taking deep breaths, attempting to recover from the exhaustion. It's been almost 17 years since Adam decided to take on the mantle of "The Revenant". Ever since his parents were murdered by organized crime he had one goal and one goal only, revenge, make them suffer first, before they get the chance to hurt anyone else like the way he did. But it's been so long since then, a lot has happened since those rage full and wreclkless nights back when he was 18. His body was tired and aching and his spirit was slowly start to lose it's flame. Especially since these more... "Capable" superheroes started to pop out of nowhere. Some of them where fast, others had super strength, hel!... Most of them could even fly! And what did Adam had? A bunch of billion dollars and a suit of armor? I know that doesn't sound like nothing, but when it comes to fight gods... Adam didn't had a shot in the dark against that. Maybe the revenant wasn't needed anymore, maybe it was time to finally hang the cape. But... Where would that leave him? He had no family, no friends, no love interest. He sacrificed everything for a cause that only brought him pain and suffering.
Adam sighed deeply and started to rubb his eyes as he considered his options. Then, a flashing red light started to shine from the main computer, the facial threat recognition software caught something... At some grocery shop in a little town in the middle of nowhere? That can't be right. Adam looked for several minutes, studying the face that appeared on-screen "It's not possible" Adam exclaimed under his breath hesitantly. --- Adam decided to check for himself and traveled all the way to the small town and started asking around for her, most of them recognized her and they pointed out where this "Jessica" lived. He sneaked inside and started looking around for clues, but there was nothing that indicated that this woman was in fact DarkShade. That's when the woman in question steps inside the cabin and looks at him. At first Adam wanted to explain himself, just in case he would have mistaken her for an evil supervillain, but she recognized him... Even without his suit, could it really be her? "So it is really you huh?" He asked standing firmly, looking around for objects to defend himself in case she intended to attack him.

Jessica froze, staring at him with her mouth hanging open. Her mind was full of thoughts swirling around, scenarios playing out as she tried to think about what exactly was happening. She exhaled shakily, her hands vibrating. “Yes, no.” She spoke. “Okay, yes. It’s me. What are you doing here?” Jessica took a step back, her back pressing up against the doorframe as she tried to back away from him. She tried to figure out what was going on. She was so careful, tedious about making sure she would stay hidden. She was supposed to be dead. “Why are you in my house? How did you find me?” Her voice started to rise, becoming angrier at the thought that he was here. Jessica stared at him, trying to keep herself as calm as possible. “Please.. don’t kill me.” Jessica took a quick look around the room, trying to find something to defend herself with if things went sideways. How could this have happened?

Adam could sense her nervous tone, but he kept silence, slowly moving around the table, keeping his entire focus on her. She knew who he was, and if she was who she said she was, then she should be afraid of him, but why would she?. She never showed any sign of intimidation against him before. Why does she sound scared all of the sudden. Adam stopped in place when he heard her beginning for her life. This wasn't the person that he fought against before, but what changed?, Maybe... She was... Tired... Like him?. Whatever the case, he couldn't just lower his guard down, not when facing DarkShade. "I just want to talk" He tried to calm her with a very soothing voice "This doesn't have to end in a fight" He raised his hands in the air just to show her that he was unarmed. "What are you doing here DarkShade?"

“Don’t call me that.” She snapped for a moment. Jessica exhaled momentarily, pushing aside her curly hair. “My name is Jessica.” She looked at him, her eyes glancing towards his hands. A small feeling of security overcame her, but she was still on high alert. “Jessica. That’s my name.” She stopped for a moment, not moving at all. “I’m here to get away from you. I’m tired. I didn’t want to fight anymore. I just.. I just want a normal life.” Jessica opened up slightly, but built her walls back up again. “Why are you here, Revenant? This is my house.”

She... She gave up because of him??... That was the mission right? To beat up bad guys till the point where they would be afraid of doing something wrong. So why did he felt guilty for doing that to her all of the sudden?. "I... I don't know" He said with a disappointed look on his face. Adam had hope that finding her would help him, that beating the deadly DarkShade would bring back some sense to what he made of his life. But he only found Jessica, someone just as tired and bruised as him. "I'm not gonna fight you D... Jessica" He turned his back on her, not caring of what she might do to him anymore "Truth is... I'm tired too"

Jessica watched as he turned away, her back still pressed against the wall behind her. Her body was tense, every muscle tight as she waited for some fight to break out, but there wasn’t one. There was just two people, two regular people, who were tired. She tried to find words to speak, something to say, anything. Her eyes stayed fixated on him, her body relaxing slowly. “What’s your name?” Jessica realized she never knew his name. The ex-villain was still on guard, a part of her thinking this was all some trap. A ruse to actually kill her. She swallowed her fear for a moment though, trying to push down the anxiety so she could level with him. “If you’re here for a fight, you’re not going to get one. I just… I want to live a normal life now.” She whispered, still staying in her spot across the kitchen.

He laughed under his breath, he didn't stopped and think that she didn't knew his name either "My name's Adam" He turned and looked at her, still as frigid as a rock. "Look, I'm sorry for showing up like if I was coming for your head, I just hoped that looking at your face once more would give me some answers" He walked across the room and stopped right in front of her, standing tall and a little menacingly "I was wrong... So I'll get out of your hair and leave you be" He said so that she would move away from the front door

Adam.. So that was his name. Jessica tilted her head to the side as he spoke, watching as he walked towards her. Answers? Answers to what? Jessica thought to herself, trying to keep a calm composure as she stared up at him. He had always towered over her, even in other forms she took on. “Answers?” She asked, curious. Her feet stayed planted in their spot. “You came all the way here for answers?” She sighed softly, pushed her hair back. She stepped aside to let him leave, but turned to face him once again. “You said you were tired… Tired of what?”

He sighed deeply, Adam didn't knew how to respond to what he meant about those answers, he didn't even knew what he was looking for in the first place, but he knew very well what he was tired of "Same thing as you, tired of fighting, of hurting... Myself... And others" Adam said as he looked at Jessica's eyes. Those weren't the same eyes he fought against before, he wanted to know what changed, and why??. But he thought that maybe she would never opened up to him to that level so he just grabbed on his coat and stepped out to the now cold and dark night in the woods

Jessica turned to watch him leave, sighing lightly as she watched the door close behind him. It seemed they were in the same spot, tired of the life they had, yearning for something more quaint. Another sigh escaped her lips, shaking her head slightly as she walked out the front door. “It’ll start raining soon, Adam. Come inside.” She said, forcing a small smile. She opened the door wider for him. “I’m going to make supper soon, you must be hungry.”

Adam looked back over his shoulder, he couldn't really believe that she'd worry that him of all people would getting a little wet. He stopped in place and looked at her standing at the porch, holding the door open. Adam could sense that her's wasn't a completly honest smile, he had seen her smile before, and it didn't looked like it. Damn! How is it that he knows that? After all this years of fighting her... Maybe he knows Jessica more than what he'd like to admit. "I wouldn't like to disturb you" He said honestly, but... Maybe this was his shoot of getting some answers, maybe he would find some meaning in her words. Adam finally agreed and walked back inside, stopping right at the door and looking deep in Jessica's eyes "Thank you... Jessica"

Jessica eyed him as he walked inside, the pit in her stomach growing slightly. The last time they saw each other was when she had faked her death. Seeing each other now in such… ordinary circumstances, it was odd. They were just two people, two normal civilians having supper, right? “I’ll get a fire started.” Jessica murmured out, closing the front door behind them and placing the latch. She walked over to the fireplace, quickly starting a fire to get warmth circulating throughout the cabin. Outside, the sounds of thunder came closer, and the first few drops of rain began to fall. The soft patter of rain against her windows could barely be heard over the crackling of the fire. “I hope you’re okay with beef stew, I’ve been working on it all day.” Jessica said awkwardly, chuckling in a feeble attempt to hide her nervousness.

Adam stood awkwardly in the center of the room, wondering why would she care about him, not really knowing if he should sit or attempting to help, he had to be cautious, she didn't really trusted him, so any misstep could lead to a discussion with her, maybe even a fight, if he wasn't careful enough. "Sounds great..." A loud thunder struck outside, lighting up the sky interrupting him. "I just got to ask... Why here? Of all places you could have gone to"

Jessica stirred the stew in the pot on her wood burning stove, pondering the question he asked for a moment. As she did so, she retrieved two ceramic bowls from a nearby cupboard, and two spoons. “It’s quiet. No one in town really knows who I am. Less stress compared to the city.” Jessica finally spoke, staring at the food she had been working on. Quickly dishing out the stew evenly between the two bowls, she set them down on the table, sitting down in the chair. “I like it here. It’s a lot easier than the city.”

He started taking another look around, as Jessica seemed to be focused on the stew "I don't mean the little town. I mean like, why here in the woods? All on your own." Adam finally sit on a chair nearby the fireplace, closer to Jessica "Don't you get lonely?" He leaned forward to try and take a look at her expression. But it looked like she pulled further away because of that gesture. Maybe he was looking for something that wasn't there. Was he that desperate? Looking for something deeper into someone that never did anything else but to despise him?

Jessica stared mindlessly as the stew in her bowl as she pondered the question Adam had asked. “Sometimes I get lonely. Not all the time though. The forest is… calming.” Jessica spoke, looking up at Adam. She noticed he was getting closer. She was noticing a lot of things in that moment, actually. Jessica had begun to see him in a different light. It wasn’t her nemesis sitting there at that moment, but just a normal man who was in the same position as her. Tired. They were beginning to connect on another level, one she never expected. “So, you’re not here for a fight. What are you doing here then?” Jessica asked before taking a spoonful of her stew.

Adam hesitated for a second, is he really just going to open his heart out to her? The villain who attempted to kill him countless times? Maybe this was part of her plan, maybe she was just waiting for him to lower his guard to make a move. She could jump and kill him any second now. But... Why was he okay with it? "I... I been having issues with my double life lately" He embarrassingly affirmed. "I'm not what I used to be, and with all the new superheroes... It seems like I'm even less needed every single day... Maybe I don't want to do that anymore"

Jessica nodded silently, looking up at Adam. “It got to be too much.” She agreed, shrugging her shoulders. “I came out here because there was just… so much happening. It was surprisingly easier when it was just you and me.” Jessica joked, her small laugh breaking through the deafening silence. She continued to eat her food, occasionally glancing up towards Adam. There was a part of her that was afraid he would jump at her, that a fight would break out. “Im not going to do anything.” She said quietly. “I just… don’t want too. I don’t wanna ruin this life I made here.” She tried to reassure him, almost certain that he felt like she would jump at him too.

Adam laughed faintly before grabbing a plate of stew "Exactly! I mean... I started being a superhero way before you. But still... You got there just in time for my best years" Adam took a spoonful of stew as he started reminiscing the good old days. Adam stared thoughtful at the floor for a long minute before looking back up at her *Sigh "I won't hurt you either Jessica, I can see how much this second chance means to you. I won't take that away from you"

It was easier when it was just them. Just Jessica and Adam. It was like a game of cat and mouse, but once new superpowered heroes began showing up, it just… didn’t feel the same. Jessica saw no point in what she was doing anymore. She moved past societal domination and wanted to just live. To have a normal life. Being a villain wasn’t something she wanted to do anymore. She sat in her chair, quietly eating the food she had made. “Thank you.” She muttered out before taking another spoonful of her stew. She looked up at Adam, a solemn look on her face. She felt bad for him. For them. “What are your plans? Go back to the city?” A crack of thunder could be heard from outside, the flash of the lightning shining through the window for a fleeting moment. “You can stay here for tonight, if you’d like.” She shrugged her shoulders.

This was surprisingly easy for Adam. It almost even felt... Good. Even though on essence was still the same person, Jessica felt like an entirely different human being. He sat in silence for a minute while the loud thunder passed, Adam wasn't sure what to respond to that question. He didn't wanted to go back, there was nothing left for him. With all his wealth he could go wherever he wanted to. And yet... He only could think of staying here with her. "I really wouldn't want to intrude any further" Adam said, but actually expecting for her to insist. It had only been a few hours and yet, he feels more comfortable with her than with most people he knows. Or at least used to know.
