-------------------------------------------------- To say Alexandria was a bit disappointed when she woke up that morning was an understatement. She quickly rose to a sitting position and looked around the room, just like she had every day for the past month. She would always will her blurry eyes to focus, hoping to see the familiar sight of her bedroom back at home. But it never was. She was, once again, still in a small and cozy inn room. And that meant she was still in the game. The ensuing chaos of hundred of thousands of people realizing they were stuck in a vrmmorpg didn't last as long as one might've thought. The first few days were obviously the worst, with the server's inhabitants seemingly split between those who panicked, those who were in denial, and those who thought it was all some kind of bluff. The third group thinned out quickly as people tried killing themselves within the game with promises of respawning as soon as they could. They never did. Things had calmed into a new normal for most. A tense and somber normal, but a normal nonetheless. But not for Alexandria. She didn't even know what to do with herself. Not only had her online persona been ripped away from her, but her real life as well. At the very least, her crippling anxiety didn't turn too many heads, considering the situation. No one's mental health was exactly 5-star at the moment. She tried desperately to fill her time with little things to keep her mind off of the situation. Just until someone outside finally helped them. Thankfully, she was rather good at the game. Raids, sidequests and even the occasional dungeon was usually child's play for her. Usually. However, this day in particular was a bit different. Because there was a rare mob that had spawned in the forest where she usually grinded, and no one was around to help. She was already out of potions, and down to half her health. "This...is how I'm gonna go out, isn't it?" She thought. Dying just as she lived; alone.

The rare mob in question was a three headed wolf, with a purple and white furr. It was one of the fastest mobs to have yet entered the game, which was balanced out by it's incredibly low health. Undergorund resources speculated that the item it dropped was a legendary accessory, which increased your speed multiplicativly. The higher your speed was, the higher the bonus you'd get. Perfect for Abby's character, who was already extremely focused on speed. She believed her sources enough to enter the forest by herself, maybe foolish maybe prideful. Ever since she was trapped in this godforsaken world, Abby had poured every ounce of her being in surviving. Her life outside was too important to lose if over a game. She wasn't the best to begin with, but a fast learner. And she quickly created ties to data miners in the game, to get to loot faster in exchange for a price. Navigating among the branches of the trees, Abby scouted the perimeter for a good half hour, until she finally tracked the monster down. Without skipping a beat, she jumped high into the air, plunging down with her spear on the monsters back. Her weapon was her rarest piece of loot, a spear that increased the attack based on your speed and increased your speed based on your attack. The drawback was that it heavily reduced your defense, so most people never risked to take the chance. The monster cried out, shaking the spearman off its back. Abby landed on her arms, turning to her feet with a wheel. She summoned her spear, preparing her next attack. Too caught up to notice the other girl fighting the mob. (edited)

Alexandria had already closed her eyes, standing against the wall she'd been backed into. She didn't think there was any way out of her fate, when she suddenly heard the monster cry out in pain. The woman looked up to find the creature's attention had been taken by another player. The other woman moved with incredible speed, surpassing Alexandria's easily. She watched her rescuer get shaken off, only to throw herself back into the fray. Alex took a deep breath. She didn't want this stranger to fight alone, especially after saving her hide. So, with her word and shield ready, she ran towards the monster as well.
