ht."
"By awesome sex, I know!" Grant laughed and took a pull on the beer. "Alright, I'm going to meet Manny from the shop for a bite and then we're going to hit Roxy's and see what's up. I promise I won't come home drunk, since Fi-Fi is gonna be here."
"Yeah, will do. Say hi to Manny for me, and let me know if Jade is back behind the bar. I guess if my date last night doesn't pan out, I've still got her number."
"She's more my type than yours, bro, but yeah! Good thinking," Grant said, then polished off the beer. "Say hi to Ramona for me."
"Absolutely will not," Wade said, and they both laughed.
Grant pulled on a flannel shirt over the tank top, buttoned it halfway, then headed out through the door into the garage. His lovingly restored Mustang sat there next to Wade's econobox, and Grant shook his head. Their friendship in a nutshell, he supposed. But he was grateful to Wade for keeping him sane back in the service, and then helping him out when he was in a fix. They were weird, but they worked, as friends and roommates.
After some wings and beers with his buddy Manny from the garage, they hung out and partied a bit at Roxy's, though it was mostly regulars, with a few newbs here and there. Sometimes that was great, and comfortable, and the regular girls never minded dancing with him and Manny and Wade, but yeah... nothing was ever going anywhere with them. So by about ten, he was looking for some excitement. Manny wanted to stay, so Grant headed out, checking himself in the mirror on the way out. Still looking pretty put together.
He strolled the short way down to The 46 Club, paid his cover, and walked into a wall of light and sound. Grinning with the possibilities, he headed to the bar to grab a drink, inadvertently jostling someone along the way. "Oh, hey, sorry," he said, holding his hands out to the smaller, younger woman he'd bumped into.
