Silence.
Her gaze lingered on the door as the driver grabbed her leash and brought her into the mansion, quickly unhooking her before leaving her standing there silently. She glanced behind her nervously as the driver walked away wordlessly. Her heart began to pound as she was left standing there, once more in an unfamiliar place. She swallowed and glanced around the room, her breaths soft as she attempted to remain calm. There was something anxiety provoking about it, the way that no one explained anything to her, the way they had just left her there. She bit her lip, wondering if there was something darker going on here. Was this more dangerous than she had worried?
As the vampire stepped out, her gaze fell, her body stiffening as he walked around her, circling her like a predator. Yet he simply sneered and walked away from her, not saying a word until he had gotten to the top of the stairwell. She blinked, wondering if she was disgusting in his eyes. She bit at the inside of her cheek, her gaze hardening as he claimed that he didn't care what she did. A knot tightened in her throat once more, finding her expectations blown out of the water. With that, she found herself alone once more. Alone in that large place, entirely unsure of herself.
For several moments, Rue simply stood there, entirely unsure of what she was to do.
She had never been left like this, entirely disregarded.
She swallowed and walked deeper into the house, her gaze wandering as she found herself at a glass door that led outside. If she wanted, she could run. She wondered if he would have even cared. It wasn't worth it though. She'd be found by the praecepta and brought back to the auction house before she could get far. They would simply look up who had just purchased her and return her to him.
Pushing the door open, her gaze flicked over her shoulder.
Nothing.
She had half imagined that he would have come down in response.
Yet there was nothing at all.
She stepped out, her eyes so
