Tb:""I can assure you, king, not a single person I've drown has been innocent, but that's not the point! You! And your people! You have completely destroyed an entire species! Decimated them through your barbaric sea-hunt!"
I stand up and lift my staff, causing a small outburst from the people watching, but i only lift it and point it into the air overhead. The golden skull runs upward and screams, or appears to, but what emits from its mouth is a swirling, undulating mass of blackness that rapidly grows to fill the upper potions of the room. Within this mass an image begins to form.
A dark and thoroughly aquatic creature, like a man, but with a long, narrow tail and several fins. It's unnaturally thin arms bear fins along their length and small, bony hands at the end. A fin runs the length of the creature from the top of its head down its back. It's body is also emaciated, and it's almost human face has too late eyes and no lips, with to small of an opening for a mouth. It's skin is a muted greygreen, broken by darker, jagged stripes. Once it forms, it begins to mover within the black cloud, darting around and peering down at people, swimming through the blackness like water.
The sea hunt is a practice in which hunters take boats out to sea and lie in wait for the migration of dolphins that follows the same routs to get to their seasonal habitats. Using nets and sound, the hunters chase the migrating animals into a narrow inlet, trapping them with their nets against the Shore and slaughtering them.
"Avi was the last keeper. With avi gone the gates are opening. It was your hunters that killed her, and now, king, the ocean is home to monsters."
I turn the staff and direct a black bolt at the image of the creature, causing it to burst into more images, fierce creatures with fangs and bloodred eyes, in a multitude of forms. Some emit sparks, like lightening flashes, other burst onto motion, appearing to come straight toward the watcher, opening its mouth to reveal rows and rows of teeth. Other open their mouth and suck in and in and in, growing bigger and bigger. Some like sea dragons, which sprout wings and descend from the blackness, diving at people and coming almost near enough to touch before the entire cloud suddenly disipates as I knock the end of the staff against the ground.
"Avi was killed during your sea massacre, king, releasing these creatures back into the season. She was the only thing protecting you from these monsters. I tried, but you are to stupid to do as your told! I couldn't keep your boats from the waters, and now, king, coming up your river, is a formidable sea serpent. I expect, since your capital is build on the very place it had once nested, that it intends to claim this island for itself."
I turn my attention back to the king, placing my staff on the ground in front of me to lean on it with both hands. I can't tell what thoughts are in his mind, his face remains unreadable, though it could just be that I have spent so little time with humans I've forgotten how to decipher facial expressions."
