He was awake and someone was going to pay for it. He had debated the current state of his consciousness and decided to fade long ago. Let his mind wander and join the collective within his kin, and now he was being bothered. He supposed the diggers were unaware he was there, but he was still pissed about the fact. He had followed history's course while he was asleep. The humans progression through technology and culture. His own countries decline. He had no drive to dig himself out of his grave and even the burn of hunger had faded in time. He had done his work and come to terms with his death. Perhaps sight of his coffin would be enough to frighten them off. Superstitious people had once dug him loose and immediately returned him to his grave with terrified words. God damn it why am I awake he thought sluggishly. His body was too deteriorated to move beyond slight muscle twitches. The easiest way to describe this state of sleep would be mummified.... an airtight coffin meant he could sleep through the worst of it all. His box had been designed by Hellsing, more so to keep him contained than safe. They tended to go hand in hand thankfully. Keep the monster contained kept the monster safe. He snorted mentally to himself. A coffin decorated with religious symbols, pinned with crucifix shaped nails, blessed. The man had once debated filling it with holy water too. Like he was a soup. Monster soup. he snorted again and listening the people digging above him.
