The elevator ride was long and arduous, and felt like it went up for eons. There were only 9 level's that were indicated on the inside, but that couldn't be true. From the outside, this building seemed to stretch upwards forever, and as the number's within the elevators inside slowly ticked up it all started to make sense. Each level took what felt like minutes to travel up, and each second only added to the sudden nerves that were building in her chest.
As the elevator slowly came to a stop, the doors slid open with an audible ding. What met Daphne was an open office, a small room with black flooring, red chairs lining the wall and a matching carpet that led to a large mahogany door. Next to it was an empty desk with a small scribbled note on the front which read:
Nock and walk in whenever you're ready! Good luck sweetheart <3
The hand writing was unfamiliar to her, but from the stamp that was on the bottom corner, Daphne could assume that it was from the lady that let her in, back down on the first floor. Following the instructions on the note, Daphne would walk into an incredibly expansive meeting room, a long painted table stretched on for ages before stopping at the far end of the room, just in front of a large glass window that spanned from ceiling to floor. The room was dark, except for the light that entered from the window's at the end of the room, incidentally illuminating a figure that paced from wall to wall, phone receiver pressed to his ear. His voice was quiet but furious, a commanding tone shook the foundations of the room as he hissed into the receiver.
"Listen to me, we have too much work as it is! We are a legitimate business, not some goddamn day care whenever you freeloaders feel like bumming off your responsibilities-, wait no. No! You cannot just-"
A moment of silence before a loud crash, at the receiver crumbled to pieces in his hands.
"Goddamn it!"
