It was a quiet morning; the faint sound of birds singing in the trees and among rooftops. The sky a vibrant orange mixed with the coming blue of day to welcome all who saw it. The quiet footsteps of those just heading to work and those coming home from late night shifts. A blend of quiet noise and tranquility. One could imagine waking up to a nice Autumn morning. The trees that dotted the sidewalks and made way for vehicles were a beautiful mix of red at the top, orange and yellow down at the base. The hundreds of thousands of leaves that had already fallen from days before were dry and crunchy against the boots of one man. He was taking a brisk walk through the streets with hands shoved within the deep pockets of his thick and thankfully warm coat. The man looked to be in his mid twenties with dark hair tousled and wavy with blue-gray eyes. His face was slightly chisled in appearance and appeared to stand roughly 5'10" but could easily be 6' if he straightened himself more. The jacket was a dark blue in color with a hard to see white T-shirt underneath. Coal colored jeans and boots added to the outfit, along with a thin gray scarf wrapped around his neck and covered his lower face. He pulled it up slightly with his fingertips to cover his nose before returning his hands back to his pockets. Stopping himself when he reached a stoplight, the male pulled out his cellphone and tapped the screen to open it. He swiped his thumb across the screen to pull open his text messages. However there wasn't really anything worth rereading. He had a text pulled up from his father. Father: [Moon, remember how I told you about how I went to a school for the magically gifted?] Moon: [Yeah? You said it's where you met Mom.] Moon: [What about it?] Father: [I want you to go to that school. It's called Novas University, it'll be a perfect place for you to study] Father: [I've already done and sent all of the paperwork to the Headmaster] Moon: [When did you do this? You only told me about the place recently..] Father: After that fieldtrip you went on, son. The one where you nearly froze an entire tree?] Moon: [I never told you that. How do you know about it?] Father: [Your teacher, Ms. Elmer. She used to go school at Novas too. I just want to make sure you are getting a good education and understanding of your magic.] Moon: [How do I find it? Give me the address and I'll check it out.] Father: [You don't find it. It finds you when you need it most. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get there before the Opening Assembly.] Father: [Keep your nose out of trouble, Moon. You're a bright kid] Just as his fingers were about to click off the phone, he heard it chime. Curious and confused, he took a glance at the number. Unknown. That was strange, who got a hold of his number? "Could be a spam text or something.." he mumbled quietly. Upon closer inspection of the text, he grew even more curious. It was an invitation for an Academy called Novas University. He'd never heard of it. [Dear Moon StarFrost, The Academy would like to congratulate you on being selected to join our esteemed Novas family. You have been chosen as one of many to become an honorary student within our great halls. Here at Novas University, students are able to study and find their own path as Druids. Learn what it means to be a Druid and how to control the newfound magic you may have discovered during your time among the Mundane] This was eerie, a bit scary to think that someone had been watching him. Hell, they very well could still be. Moon took a glance around him, though not seeing anything suspicious. His eyes returned to the text. [While we are sure you have many questions, please join us today at our campus to partake in our Open Assembly and see for yourself the greatness that lies within you! Ignite the Cosmos Within! We look forward to seeing you soon. Sincerely, Aurelius Nightshade Headmaster]

Moon reread the message several times, a bit surprised really. So this was some sort of acceptance letter into this magic college? Well, he knew magic was real now after that incident in high school a few years back. He had remembered how furious he was about his girlfriend of 5 years cheating on him with a good friend and classmate of his. Enough that he nearly froze an entire tree in a fit of rage. However, since then he hasn't been able to do it. To cast that icy blast of power. The stoplights changed colors and the walk sign across the street lit up signaling he could walk. There were hardly any cars on the road, much less at this intersection. So, with a huffed sigh, he trudged on across the street, staring at the ground as he did so. However, that strange feeling started to hit him again. Moon lifted his head, now standing halfway on the crosswalk, looking around himself. Then, an exhaled whisper reached his left ear. Moon turned around quickly, not seeing anything at first. His heartrate started to go up little by little. That same noise again invaded his ears like a cold chill deep in the bones. Any passerby would think he was crazy or even sleep deprived. But in reality? Something was definitely there. Upon turning around for the final time, he saw it. Standing on the other side of the street where he had come from originally was the silhouette of what looked to be human. It's body wash dark, swirling bits of magic coursed through it's thin body like a veil. Colors of various hues could be seen mixed into the dark body and it's eyes were giving off an otherworldly glow. Ones full of ancient knowledge and energy. The creature raised a thin arm out towards Moon, it's feet not even touching the ground. It's eery whispers despite standing so far away sounded so close. Like it was right next to him. Moon took a step back, raising a hand towards the creature in an attempt to try and ward it off with his now slumbering magic. No matter how hard he tried, nothing happened. "Shit. Shit Fuck.." he growled, lowering his hand after realizing his power was not going to come out and instead turned to run away. However, the creature seemed to block his escape quite quickly. It was nimble. Quick. This was bad. "Stay away, whatever the hell you are!" The creature extended a hand out and grasped Moon by the jaw. It tilted its head, leaning in close to stare at the male. Moon managed to shake away from its grasp, avoiding it's gaze. Just as it was about to reach out again, Moon tripped over his own feet and fell backwards. But instead of asphalt, he felt.. grass? There was also a buzzing sense that coursed through his body that he couldn't quite explain. Moon opened his eyes and stared at the creature before him, unable to get to Moon. It seemed there was a sort of barrier between the two. Moon hesitated at the threshold, gazing in awe at the iridescent barrier that separated wherever he was and the Mundane world. Certainly from the creature just beyond it too. Slowly getting to his feet after realizing he was somewhat safe, Moon turned around to be greeted by finding himself to be in a forest. Tall pine trees as far as the eye could see along with that buzzing feeling throughout his body. Like a minor shock nibbling away at his nerves. Was he teleported from the creature? No, that wasn't right, cause just behind him the creature was staring at him, along with the streets of his neighborhood. Was this place.. hidden?

Mandragora (Fauna) 11/16/2023 20:07
That would make the most sense. With the way the barrier was keeping that creature out along with the fact that he was somewhere where clearly a forest would not be. Which means that this place.. had to have been protected? Moon pulled out his phone, getting ready to text his father and ask him about the school, only to find that his phone had no service. He couldn't call or text anybody. Was he truly out in the woods? A huffed grumble came from his throat as he shoved the phone back into his pocket and headed forwards. Though the scenery didn't change at all. More trees. More dirt. That same buzzing feeling. After walking for what felt like an hour, when really it was only about 20 minutes, Moon had come upon the grounds of what looked to be a school. Moon was greeted by finding himself to be in a courtyard bathed in the glow of mystical energy, Moon witnessed students weaving spells with a grace that transcended the mundane. The air hummed with the resonance of incantations, and the scent of magical herbs wafted from the greenhouse nearby. In the distance, the vibrant glowball game unfolded, a spectacle of swirling colors and dynamic magic. Moon's eyes traced the arcs of the enchanted ball, captivated by its responsive dance to the gestures of the players. This was not just a sport; it was a symphony of magic in motion, a prelude to the challenges and triumphs that awaited him. "Where.. am I?" he exhaled in both awe and disbelief. Not sure that what he was seeing was even real. Moon reached a hand up to his cheek and pinched it. Nope, it's real alright. Gathering his composure, the male started walking, making sure to avoid any sudden spells of gameplay going on. It really did look like a regular college of sorts, minus the magic of course. Was this the college that his father told him about? Seems like it given the fact that it came to him when he needed it most. @Bunny of Paradise 🌺

Julliana Glimmerbrook BOT 11/16/2023 23:05
Julliana was ready to give up. It had been nearly 4 years since she had left her home, her family, everything she new in search of this fabled Novas. She wished her mother had been more specific, more detailed, gave her anything but a name but alas… that was what she had. The streets outside were covered in snow and a gale brought the chill of the air in through the tavern doors every time someone walked in. Ana remained huddled by the roaring fireplace, a rough sewn blanket thrown around her shoulders and her gaze locked onto the flames. They danced wildly in her hazel eyes, and the movements became… almost unnatural. Each flame slowed and seemed to stretch upwards, outwards, as if coming towards her. ”We don’t allow any magic in ‘ere lass.” The thick drawl of the barkeep interrupted her thoughts and she would quickly look away from the flames, themselves returning to their normal, erratic dance as they ate away at the logs buried beneath them. Ana hadn’t quite grasped what caused her slips, but what she could tell was it always happened when she was emotional, a sharp contrast to her more innate water manipulation abilities that required an empty mind to master. Right now, that emotion was sadness, a will to give up on everything, a feeling of loss and grief… Standing up she marched up towards the bar. There was no use wallowing in defeat. Waiting for the attention of one of the members of staff, Julliana would voice the request she had asked a thousand times over, and felt doomed to ask a thousand times more. “Excuse me, you don’t know a man by the name of Novas do you?” The barman looked at her confused before letting out a laugh, shaking his head. Yet another dead end it seemed. Ana had made an assumption that whom she was looking for must be a man, the night she was told of Novas, her mother had told her that the man she had grown up believing to be her father was not… and thus, she sent her to seek Novas. That must be her father… that was the only expl

anation she could think of. ”No man by that name here lass. Would be silly for folk to name someone after the University wouldn’t it?” Ana had just turned to step away from the bar when the guy had mentioned the university. Freezing in place she frowned a moment… what university?. Her eyes scanned the tavern a moment as she considered whether her assumptions had been wrong, maybe she wasn’t seeking a man after all… or… maybe… Maybe her father went to the university, maybe that’s where she would find him. “Sorry, what University do you mean?” She turned back to the Barkeep now, leaning both arms upon the bartop, hands clenched together as she would shift her weight forwards. She tried not to get her hopes up too much, but this was the first time anyone seemed to have shown familiarity with the word Novas… it was a lead, and right now she would take any lead she could get. ”Aye lass, the magic school, Novas University. Surprised you’ve not heard of it, most magic folk round ‘ere learnt all they know from that place. You can’t just go waltzing up to it though… it doesn’t seem to have a physical location per say, you’ll need to be enrolled or formally invited by the ‘eadmaster up there. Only then would you find the way in.” Julliana could feel her heart start racing in her chest. She tried not to show the joy on her face as she bit her cheek to stop the grin escaping. It was real. It was a real lead…. But, she needed to find a way in. In her excitement, she could feel the tingling around her fingertips, a sudden warmth to them and quickly she ripped the gloves from her hands.
23:05
They were her personal spell gloves she had on her at all times, but when she felt like she was about to lose control, often removing them helped lessen the effect. Only just though… there were certainly times she exploded regardless. often literally. The burning had brought another thought though… if this place truly was a school for magic… maybe they could help her control her own too. It was as if all her holidays had come at once with the man's information. A shaky but sharp, deep inhale of breath would be taken before her hazel gaze fell upon the man again. “Tell me… how would someone go about enrolling?”
23:05

9 Months later

Today was the day… she had received confirmation of her enrollment not much earlier, and today was due to be the open assembly welcoming the newest students into the school. There hadn’t been any directions though so, trying to exercise patience, Julliana sat on the edge of her single bed in the run down shack she had adopted as home, staring at the door. Would they come to collect her? She didn’t know. Time ticked by, the morning grew to noon and nothing had happened. No one had come, there was no knock on the door… life beyond seemed to be running as normal. The panic was starting to rise for Ana, had they changed their minds? Had they forgotten about her? Had she… forgotten something important to do? She could feel herself starting to shake where she sat, and closed her eyes, desperately trying to keep it under control. They will come she whispered under her breath, over and over, trying to reassure herself… they will come All it would take was a spark. The smallest of sparks to land on the bedding behind her which would very quickly catch light. Hearing the crackle, Ana peeked out one eyelid, spotting the bright spark growing, building, engulfing the bedding more and more at a time… Shrieking loudly, Ana leapt from her seat and grabbed her pre-packed bag. She turned, watching as the flames took more and more of the shack. Her back hit the wooden door and, wide eyed in terror, she reached blindly round trying to find the handle to open it. When it opened, she fell backwards through and landed on… soft ground. It wasn’t the hard cobblestones from the front of her shack but instead, lush moss beneath a skyline of trees. She stared upwards in shock, frozen in place, unsure of where she was. When she looked back to the door she had fallen through, the shack was gone, instead, the wildness of the area expanded ahead. The crack of branches made her look up, and she could see through the distance more bodies heading through the woodland, all
23:05
in the same direction, behind her. Grabbing her bag she would scrabble to her feet, pulling some twigs out of her mousy blonde hair and turning. She couldn’t see what everyone was heading towards but the light increased as the tree’s thinned in the distance. Hugging her bag to her, she took her first steps forwards, towards hopefully a new future… The large campus coming into view was breathtaking to say the least, and Ana’s jaw hung open as she looked up at the vastness of it. More and more students seemed to be pouring from the woodland, some old, some new, and she watched as many greeted friends and lovers with familiarity in the campus. Students had begun to gather in groups, showing each other what they had learned over the break. Sparks flew into the sky from others showing off, water danced, plants grew and swayed, rainbows and iridescent lights formed and burst into grand colourful shows. Everywhere she would look, there would be something new, something amazing, taking place. It made her want to turn on the spot, fearing she was missing something, as she stepped towards the campus. She didn't want to stop though and instead did her best to keep walking as she turned. Unfortunately, now blind to where she was going, as soon as her back was to the campus building she would step backwards into a man, with tousled dark hair and, as she turned to him, blue-grey eyes. “Oh my god, I’m so sorry, I was distracted!”

Moon stood at the edge of the forest, watching the students as some went to go greet friends and partners. They must be upperclassmen by the looks of it. Those who had been around the campus at least once. He, however, was new. There were many other students who were emerging from the forest, new students who had not seen Novas University before. He would be in that very same boat it seems. Just keep to yourself and you'll be fine Moon thought to himself as he reached into his pocket to check his phone once more. Still no service no matter how high he held his phone. Damn, I wanted to ask father more about this place.. Guess I'm in the dark for now.. Suddenly, he felt someone push into him, causing him to drop his phone. The faint thud of the screen as it hit the corner of a small rock made him internally pissed off. Though on the outside he showed little to no emotion. The male bent down and picked up his phone, seeing that the lower corner was scratched and cracked. It still worked, however. But it's not like he was going to be able to get it repaired anytime soon. The tall male turned his head to glance behind him, only to look down and see a woman who was clutching her bag close to her. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry, I was distracted!" he heard her say. Moon wasn't very good at talking to others. More like he didn't have an interest in conversation. His cold gaze staring daggers at the woman before putting his damaged phone into his pocket. "Watch where you're going next time.." he said coldly. With a sharp exhale, Moon moved himself towards the bleachers within the courtyard, sitting away from the few other students who appeared to be grouped together chatting and watching the game as well as waiting for any news about their sudden invitation to the school. His blue-gray eyes focused on the sport in front of him. On the field, there were at least four players to a team. They wore gloves that had a faint glow about them, similar to the Glowball that w

as now hovering slightly above the center of the court. On either side of the court were goal posts that were enchanted. Looks like the premise of the game was similar to that of soccer or football: Get the ball to the opponents Goal Zone. Alright, may as well wait. Let's see what they can do.. Moon thought to himself as the match began. He had never witnessed a game like this before.
23:25
One player closest to the ball gestured upwards slowly and the ball rose from it's spot. The shimmer of magic that sparkled with a trail as it rose up into the air only for it to move quickly to the left. Another student from the same team gestured for the ball to come towards them at a crazy speed only to twist the direction last second, launching the ball onto the opponents side of the court. "Come on, Ash! You got this!" shouted one student who stood by the bleachers next to Moon. The male student who currently had the Glowball turned his head slightly and grinned wide. "Match just started, Cal. Don't distract him" a quieter voice spoke next to the louder student. Ash had long blonde hair tied in a loose bun and hazel colored eyes. That grin of his was wiped off his face in mere seconds once his eyes were taken away from the game. The opposing team had cast some form of wind magic that sent the Glowball from their side hurdling straight towards the grinning idiot and hit him square in the back of the head. With a loud grunt, he fell face first into the grass and laid there. "Told you.." the quiet voice spoke again. The Glowball that had bounced off the back of Ash's head made it's way straight towards the goal posts, only to be deflected by what looked to be a physical manifestation of light. Ash forced himself onto his hands and knees, coughing up dirt and grass that found its way into his mouth during his tumble. Now sitting up on his knees, he wiped away the dirt, grass and even a small cut on the edge of his mouth from a rock before getting back onto his feet. "I see you wasted no time.." the golden-haired male grinned, turning back to the game. Moon only watched on as the game progressed. Watching the male whom he heard was named Ash basically running through the court with his teammates in tow. Casting light magic to deflect the Glowball and hit the Goal Post. A shimmer of magic burst out from the posts into the sky. His teammates came over to con

gratulate him. Though what they were talking about? Moon couldn't guess nor cared enough to know. However, just as he stood from the bleachers, he heard a voice that sounded almost as if they were speaking next to him. It seemed the other students could as well as they all stopped what they were doing to listen. "New students, I welcome you to the grounds of Novas. Please, join me near the Grand Hall.. I await to see all of your new faces!" The newer students who had arrived seemed both taken by surprise and confused. Some looked excited as if finally they're journey was about to begin. And it all started at the Grand Hall Entrance. By looking around, one could see the students who had been here for a while, one being Ash looked to be rounding up the new students. "So he's an upperclassman, eh?" Moon said to himself before slowly descending the bleacher steps and onto the grass to follow after the crowd of new students. @Bunny of Paradise 🌺

Ana's widened gaze looked down at the item he had dropped, standing frozen in place as he silently stopped down to re-acquire it. Once he stood up, Ana clenched her bag tighter to her chest in expectation of the response from the guy, whom now was standing upright she saw was at least a head taller than herself. The gaze falling on her was nothing short of animosity, making her gulp a moment until he spoke. His voice wasn't any warmer than his stare had been and Julliana looked briefly taken aback, stepping half a stride backwards away from him. She briefly glanced towards the pocket he had placed the item in before back to him. "Sorry, I..." Her second apology was cut short though as the guy marched himself off in another direction without a second look at her. Sighing, Ana's shoulders slumped and she finally dropped the bag to her side - seems like she was off to a great start. Standing awkwardly in the middle of the courtyard she looked around again, watching everyone. Her eyes fell upon a small fountain nearby, admiring the dancing waters. Moving to the side of the fountain she placed down her bag, searching the pockets of her attire for the spell gloves she had discarded previously. Before putting them on she would close her eyes, taking a deep breath to soothe herself, not wanting any overpowering emotions to cloud her abilities. Slipping one glove on after another her eyes would open again, focusing on one of the fountains jets shooting water into the air. With her hands in front of her, her fingers would dance gently. The water in the air would get caught, not dropping with the rest as the jet switched off. Instead, the stream she had caught would twist and turn around itself, stretching out in a small stem of water before the tip bloomed into a rose shape. The water within still swayed and danced, catching the light and sparkling softly. Ana would bring the rose towards her, gently catching it in her hand. Looking around she tried to figure out just

where the strange man had disappeared to, wandering off in the direction that he had gone, before having to double back on herself to pick up the bag she had forgotten quickly. She could hear the shouting and cheers coming from the glowball pitch just beyond the bleachers so made her way there, but before she could even get close she would hear the announcement for new students. Her intent had been to try and find the guy first so she could apologise properly but she was quickly swept up into the crowd exiting from watching the game. There were a few older students that seemed to be helping guide people but she paid them little mind. Turning to follow the crowd, Ana rose on her toes to look over the sea of heads. Finally though, she spotted him, aided by the fact he was tall his dark tousled locks stood out above the crowd. "Sorry... excuse me... sorry, just squeezing through..." She would whisper to the other students as she pushed past, working her way through the maze of bodies until she managed to stumble out at his side. "Hey, you!" She would call to get his attention, as she had no idea of his name. "You left before I could apologise properly. I hope I didn't damage your stuff... and if I did, I'll help you get it repaired." Within her hand her water rose swirled, and she held it out towards him with a friendly smile. "For you, as an apology. I'm Ana"

The crowd of new students felt like a small ocean, its waves of excitement and cheering seemed to throw him around slightly, but he steadied himself as he made his way to follow the crowd to the Grand Hall, or rather the door that led to it. While everyone else was excited, Moon kept to himself about his feelings for the place. He was more reserved in terms of what kind of school this place could be. The Upperclassmen seemed like they were also enjoying their time here, corralling the newer students. Just when he felt he could lower his guard, he heard a voice behind him, calling to him though not by name. Moon wanted to ignore this girl who seemed to irritate him so. Should he tell her to shove off? That'd be a bit too harsh, but it's not like he could say it any nicer, right? Maybe just ignore her. That's a safe bet, right? He didn't have to say anything to her, didn't have to acknowledge her. While thinking to himself, he was taken by surprise at the fact the girl had already located him and was now at his side. How did she get through this rowdy crowd?! he thought to himself, shifting his cold eyes to look down at the female. It seems as though she was wanting to apologize for nearly breaking his phone. "It's fine.." he would say. Though she went so far as to offer to help get it repaired. Moon grit his teeth for a moment, feeling that cold feeling in his fingertips. Calm down.. Calm down.. he repeated in his mind. She didn't know any better. She's apologizing.. Accept the apology.. A sharp inhale as his finger reached out to touch the rose made of water. The moment those hypothermic tipped fingers touched the rose, he exhaled, unable to say anything more as the Rose froze instantly and harshly into Ice. Shit Without saying anything, Moon turned his gaze away from the female and to more important things ahead. In front of the crowd of students stood a grand, tall door. In front of it was a figure who appeared to have short silver hair and som

The sleeves were rolled up to the elbows and three small pins adorned with three shapes of varying colors could be seen on the vest: A Quill, A Star and finally a Crescent Moon. The Quill was adorned with the color Green. The Star was Red, and finally the Crescent Moon was Blue. The man held up a hand towards the sky, as if silencing the rabble in front of him. A small smile danced on his lips before he opened his mouth to speak.

Ana's Hazel eyes remained fixed on the guys blue-green ones, trying her best to smile to him with her warm demeanour though it didn't seem like it was helping to soften the stranger in any way, his utterance of all being fine seemed a little forced. At least he did reach to accept her apology gift. She watched as his fingers brushed against the watery petals, and in an instant the rose would freeze, starting at the petals and spreading quickly all down the stem to her fingertips. Ana stared wide eyed at her now frozen rose in her hand, trying not to pout as she felt the magic evaporate from her fingertips as she no longer had a connection to the frozen block. "Oh..." She would comment quietly, holding the rose back close to her chest now as he had looked away. Julliana would cast a small glance up to him again but his demeanour certainly suggested that their conversation was over, even if he hadn't acknowledged her greeting or introduced himself. Giving a sigh, Ana figured she should probably look to interact with some of the other students instead, this one obviously had no interest in making friends. She was about to head and disappear into the crowd again when the movement of everyone suddenly came to a halt, rippling back through the gathered students. Ana was a little shorter than the average of the group so she couldn't quite see what was happening ahead, other than the top of the door arches heading into the building. Frowning a moment, Ana carefully lifted herself to her toes, doing her best to remain balanced as she looked out over the sea of students, stepping back and forth till she managed to find an angle where she could see through the gaps between people's heads to the headmaster at the front. The adjustments had meant she was standing just a little in front of the student she had been speaking with. The commanding presence the man at the front had in silencing the groups was awe inspiring, and he immediately drew everyone's attention to him.
11:19
His voice projected well across the groups as he spoke, and Ana found herself forgetting about everyone else around them. His introduction and welcome was certainly one to fill the students with pride, hope and excitement for what was to come. His statement regarding forging bonds with fellow students was not missed by Ana, and she was half expecting to hear a scoff from the dark haired man behind her- he certainly wasn't showing a natural proficiency for bond building so far. Maybe that was why she felt drawn to him, to help him - she had certainly never backed down from a challenge so far in life. As the headmasters speech drew to a close he would step aside, and the hum of hushed whispers would rise from the classmates again. Turning around, Ana looked up at him once more with a smile, raising a brow as if expecting him to speak, though she was sure he'd probably be inclined to ignore her still. "You know... its much easier to build bonds with fellow students if they know your name. Can we try again? I'm Ana." This time she didn't hold out the rose, instead, holding her hand out hopefully for him to take... and not freeze her in the process.
11:19
Before there could be much further discussion though another faculty member had stepped forth, giving a cough to garner the attention of the gathered students once more. "The doors to the university will now open. As you enter through into our hallways you will each be granted a pin indicating the house you have been placed into, please filter through to find your house's seats within the grand Hall. Upperclassmen, please help guide our new students to where they need to be. It is expected for your house to become your family for your years here at Novas. Those receiving the red star will be House Aetheria, the Blue Crescent Moon will be House Celestia, and the Green Quill is for House Sentinelum." With a creak the large oak doors behind the faculty member began to inch open. Ana watched with excitement before the crowd started to slowly filter forwards again. "Maybe we'll be in the same house hm?" She perkily chirped to the guy again, grinning to him before focusing on where they were walking as they were guided inside.

Moon remained quiet, listening to the Headmaster's speech and casually ignoring the young female now in front of him trying to see ahead. Such a shame to be one so short among a crowd of those taller than her. Not like he was going to help or do anything; he didn't care about the girl one bit. However, her words to him were becoming even more irritating. Speaking about building bonds with others. As if Moon wanted anything to do with friends. He had been betrayed in the past by two people he really cared about. So no, he wasn't looking to make friends anytime soon. The sound of the large doors started to creek open after the announcement from one of the Faculty. Quickly, the students started to filter their way inside the Great Hall. Seems the girl who had introduced herself as Ana multiple times now had not given up on trying to befriend the icy male. Upon entering inside, students would be able to see the vastness of the hall. Above, the ceiling mirrors the dawn sky, creating a constantly shifting canvas of delicate hues that transition from the soft pinks and oranges of sunrise to the vibrant blues of midday. Celestial constellations twinkle subtly, casting a gentle glow that bathes the hall in a magical light, reminiscent of an ever-present cosmic ballet. The walls had many different paintings of past professors, headmasters, famous Druids even. Unlike that fabled Hogwarts that Moon had seen only in movies and read in books, these paintings did not move. Though there was still a magical aura about them. Among the rest of the paintings were old graduating classes. It was almost like the walls here in the Great Hall was one giant yearbook. The floor, a mosaic of intricately designed tiles, weaves spells of protection and history. Patterns of magical sigils dance beneath the feet of students, reacting to their movements with a subtle glow. Beyond that was what looked to be long wooden tables. However, in the books Moon had read there would normally be stude

nts from each house sitting at a specified table. Here? Students intermingled. They could sit where ever and eat where ever. With this information, it left a faint pinch in his chest. That means I may be eating with that girl.. damn it.. Moon glanced at the female in front of him now who seemed to think optimistically that they'd be in the same house. Unlikely he thought. The students stopped just before the tables. There were tables off to the side of the Great Hall that had food spread out to take, much like a buffet. The Headmaster came by to set a small table in front of the crowd along with what looked to be a translucent orb. "Students! We will have you called up by name. Place your hand on the Astra Sphere and it will glow one of three colors: Red, Blue or Green. When that color is shown, you will get a pin displaying the house you are sorted into" he began to speak. Moon listened quietly for a bit. "The orb determines the House based on many factors, so you cannot alter it's choice. It is absolute." The crowd of students began to murmur to themselves, wondering what sort of factors could be at play here. One student, an upperclassman spoke up from the sidelines. His golden hair and infectious smile was enough to garner any attention. "Lots of things come into play when being sorted. Family-Magic is one thing. Each house has a type of affinity for certain magic. Not always will that be the case but it is one of the factors to take into consideration. Ah, that's Ash.. Is he on some sort of Student Council I don't know about? "Emotional Energy, Elemental Affinity, and the Alignment of House Traits are other factors that make the choice absolute" he pointed to himself with his thumb. "I'm in House Celestia, which fosters Creativity, Imagination and Curiosity"

The Headmaster glanced at Ash and nodded. "Indeed. Those are the traits of one of the houses. The other two houses are Aetheris, which aligns with Ambition. House Sentinelum aligns with Discipline and Duty." Moon raised an eyebrow in slight curiosity. So the placement for each student differs on their personality and family-magic? Then that means there is no way he'd be placed in Celestia. "Now, let's begin so all of you wonderful students can have time to eat before we have a tour, hm?" the Headmaster grinned before letting Ash step out of the way and return to his spot. Slowly one by one the Headmaster would call up a student, tell them to place their hand on the Astra Sphere and watch it change color before the Headmaster would hand them a pin of their given house. Moon was called up finally and he stepped forward, his broad shoulders facing the students. His tousled hair moved slightly with each faint movement he made. So I just place my hand here.. Upon placing his hand atop the sphere, it glowed a brilliant green. "Sentinellum!" the Headmaster would announce and held out his hand to display a green quill pin. Moon took it with his hypothermic fingertips and bowed his head in acknowledgement to the Headmaster before turning to leave, but not without glancing at Ana with that cold, icy look. @Bunny of Paradise 🌺

Ana gave an audible sigh as the guy still refused to introduce himself to her, despite her pestering. She wasn't all that deflated though, if anything it was just motivating her more - poor guy was going to struggle being so alone in this place, she was determined to be his friend at least when he came to that conclusion on his own. It could also have partially been due to the fact she herself knew no one, and looking around the crowd, most of the other students were already gathering into groups and forming friendships, it seemed some were already familiar with one another too. For now though, Ana would let the guy be, more interested in admiring the university halls as they headed inside. In particular, her attention was caught by the photos of previous student years. She wondered if any of her family were in them, or in particular, if her father would be there... and would she be able to tell who he was if she saw him? Her slow down to look at the photos would mean she was seperated from her new unwilling friend as the crowds moved on, and it wouldn't be until an upperclassman came over to nudge her forwards she would reunite with the new student crowd gathering towards the center of the long tables, where other students had already began to take their seats. She noted from the attire of those who were already supporting their house emblems that there didn't appear to be much discent between the 3 houses, in fact, they seemed to be encouraged to mingle and create friendships between them even here in the hall. Quietly, Ana managed to duck her way back through the crowd while the Headmaster explained how they would be assigned, finding herself back nearby the tall, dark haired guy just as everyone's attention was pulled towards one of the other students. She looked over to the guy, raising a brow to his clearly confident demeanour, his appearance and smile made it seem like he practically glowed. It was noted by Ana the way some of the current students watched

him in awe... and perhaps a dash of adoration, especially amongst the female crowds. It made her chuckle a little, and she expected it wouldn't take too long for her to find out who the golden haired man was - especially if she ended up in house Celestia. As each student got called up, Ana watched as they placed their palms flat on the orb and the way it changed colour. For some, it was instantaneous, others it seemed to take a little while to decide. Overall, the whole act would be rather straight forward. As each was assigned a house, she would hear the soft applause from other students gathered and watch as the new student would head towards a table, any table, and be greeted by those within their new house sat there. One by one the crowd of new students started to thin out and Ana watched with a soft smile waiting for her turn. Before her chance would come though, the man she had been pestering so far was called up to the front. Moon Starfrost. She grinned a little noting the name... Moon, was apt, and she made sure to save that to memory. Her eyes followed his hand as he placed it to the orb, watching the bright green colour spreading over the surface. That meant Sentinelum... discipline and duty. Ana pouted a little to that, she knew there wasn't a chance for her to land there. However, as Moons gaze landed on her before he walked away she would beam bright to him, holding up both hands with a double thumbs up for her friend. She watched where he would end up moving to sit as a few more students were called forwards, before her name was called. "Julliana Glimmerbrook please." Some murmurs could be heard through the crowd.
21:28
Whilst her family name was well known, those who knew it also knew that the Glimmerbrooks and related houses tended to stick quite close in their tight knit community, opting more for home education on the water magic that flowed deep throughout their family ancestry. For one to be attending a more public university setting was almost unheard of. Carefully, Ana took her steps forwards towards the podium with the orb, moving to stand behind it as all the others hand. Reaching forwards she planted her hand firmly against the orb. Watching, she felt like it took an age before the swirling cloud within changed, fading into a vibrant, growing red colour. She gulped a little to the sight beneath her palm, reminding her all too keenly of the flames that seemed to always dance just beneath her skin. The star pin was held out towards her as the Headmaster announced the decision that she would be in Aetheris. She would smile, reaching to take the badge and bowing her head politely with a soft thank you before heading off... then spinning on her heel as she realised she went the wrong way, quickly scurrying past the orb to head in the direction Moon had gone. Hunting through the crowds of students on the tables she looked for him and where he had sat, moving to hope to slide onto the bench alongside him. "So Moon... Disciple and Duty? Is that where you thought you would be placed?" She would ask lightly with a smile to him again, never faltering. She wondered if it was clear to him yet she wasn't going to just give up, no matter how cold he was to her.

After Moon had gotten his pin, a Green Quill, he moved over to one of the tables, finding a spot that was somewhat empty. He sat himself down, looking at the pin he now held between his fingers that were a permanent blue due to his magic. The pin showed a quill whose feather was a vibrant green. He decided to put the pin on the collar of his jacket. He fastened the back plate to the sharp needle of the pin, locking it in place. Who would have thought that I'd be going to some magic school.. Honestly, I would have been fine without my magic. Not like I use it.. he thought to himself. Plus, it wasn't like he had control over it either. He didn't own a pair of Spell Gloves like some of the other students around did. He knew very little about the magical world. The only thing he knew was that he had some weird ice magic and that his father told him to find this school. That was about it. Could he even cast ice magic at will? Now that he thought about it, he tended to only use it when he was angry. That time in high school when he froze the tree was when he first discovered it. It was also a pretty powerful outburst too. The second time? Probably had to be when he froze that girl's water flower. It seemed that he was going to have a difficult time commanding this newfound power of his. "So Moon... Discipline and Duty? Is that where you thought you would be placed?" That familiar voice spoke to him and he already felt that pang of annoyance in his chest. This girl just wouldn't leave him alone. No matter what. The male raised his hands to run through his hair with a heavy sigh. "Why.. Why are you still following me? You're like a flea to a dog.. It's annoying.." he spoke sharply, letting his hands fall in front of him onto the table. His hands were manly enough, and his fingertips were a faint blue in color like that of one with frostbite or hypothermia when their skin had been exposed to the cold for too long. Each and every fingertip was that blue color.
23:45
His blue-gray eyes with long, black lashes shifted to look down at the cheerful female next to him. I'm not going to be friends with you.. I've dealt with enough betrayal in my life to know when to build a wall. To stop making any more mistakes. You are no different.. "I'm not looking for friends. At all. Ever. Do you understand me?" he turned his head now, his body shifting slightly, staring at the girl. "So quit being so friendly.." She'd be able to take in his features much easier now. His hair was dark, almost black in color and tousled. His eyes a blue-gray like that of ice. His frame was firm but looked to be somewhat well-taken care of. He was tall. 5'10" or so, but could easily be 6' if he straightened himself a bit more. The tips of his ears were a faint pink or red, along with the tip of his nose which complimented his fingers. Both due to his Magic. "I'm just here to get used to my magic.. Though I would prefer not to have it at all if it were possible.. That's it." @Bunny of Paradise 🌺

The mean retort likening Ana to a flea did very little to shake her resolve to be his friend, and she would merely raise a brow to him if he was to look to her. Her soft smile remained and she gave a little giggle to him, shaking her head. "Well that's just silly, I'm not here to drink your blood or anything, and if I really wanted to be a flea I would have climbed on your back already. Would have given me a better view back at the doors." Julliana turned and glanced back to the final few students being sorted, watching the thinning crowd. Her eyes were drawn however to the long tables with the food already upon it and her stomach grumbled loud, making her realise she hadn't eaten a thing that day where she was so nervous about her first day - plus she hadn't dared venture out to find anything incase she missed her escort to the university. Moons sharp tone however brought her attention back to him and she met his cold gaze looking down at her. Ana would give a small sigh to his comment about not wanting friends, ever, and shook her head - he might feel that way right now but she was sure she could convince him otherwise. His statement for her to stop being so nice would bring another soft laugh from her lips. "I'm not sure I can, I'm a friendly person... and everyone needs a friend sometimes, especially when going into new situations. We're going to be here for the next what... 4 years? You don't think that maybe one day during that time you're going to want to have someone to talk to?" Her Hazel eyes scanned over him softly, trying to see if he was even paying any attention to her comment. Noticing the soft pink tints to his ears and nose made her smile softly, reminding her of her younger siblings whenever they played out in the snow for too long. She thought of the way he froze her rose and peered at him carefully, especially concerned when he wished he didn't have it. "I'm guessing you didn't grow up with it then..." She would comment lightly, tilti

I mean, I've always been able to cast my water magic since I was young, my whole family are water, ice or air affiliates so they expect it with us at this point. The other though..." Her voice would shake a little as she spoke, drifting off quieter as she looked away herself, shifting a little uncomfortably in her seat. As open as she was with people... she wasn't sure she was ready to talk about what happened. "It was a surprise to all of us. I think the last person's done - I hope we can eat now, I'm starving!" The change in topic was certainly rather sudden, and perhaps rather telling too should he think too much into it. @Mandragora (Fauna)

"I told you, I do not need friends. I've gone this far without them, why start now?" he said harshly. I have no need for friends. I've managed 8 years without anyone at my side. It's better that way His thoughts on realizing how long it had been since that betrayal was making his heart sink a bit, but he didn't waver. His expression did not change no matter what he felt inside. It was true though, he wished he didn't have to deal with having magic. Moon never cared to learn about his Family-Magic since that day many years ago. The idea of losing control and harming someone came to mind, however and he wasn't sure what to feel about that. So, he built up a wall to keep people away. If he can't control his magic, then the least he could do was control his emotions to protect himself and others. That's what he thought at least. Moon caught sight of Ana staring at him, looking him over. What was she doing? Why was she staring so much? Then her comment started to make sense as to why she was looking. "I'm guessing you didn't grow up with it then..." The male turned his head so he wasn't looking at her anymore. Instead he was staring at the different paintings and photos on the walls ahead of him. She wasn't wrong though. Seeing that ice magic of his beginning to cover and swallow that tree all those years ago, truly did surprise him. It scared him even. To think that he had done that and could do it to anyone with frantic emotions. It was the whole reason why he decided to keep to himself, to become this cold, unemotional man. The other part was to distance himself from others and not make friends or have a loved one. Just so he wouldn't hurt them. Did he actually care? Who's to say, emotions for Moon very well could be lost to time. Here he could learn about his magic, how to control it properly. He could learn all he needed to know here. Then.. he'd go back to the Mundane world. That way, if he knew how to control it he could just simply.. not use it. He coul

d lock it away just like his feelings. The male raised his head when he heard from Ana that the last person had been sorted. Which meant that it was finally time to go get some food to eat before the tour. While Moon wasn't particularly hungry, it would be wise to eat something in case there was more to do after the tour. Rising to his feet and leaving the table he decided to head over to the buffet table closest to his own table and grabbed a plate from the stack that sat at the edge of the buffet. Moon wasn't picky about food, so he was fine with eating just about anything. A 3-piece stack of pancakes with some blueberry syrup drizzled on top and a few fresh fruits on top. This was all he would need for now. Taking a set of utensils he made his way back to his spot and sat down, though more or less farther away from Ana. Cutting up small sections of his pancake stack and taking a bite, he found that he quite enjoyed the sweetness of the syrup. Not bad. I could get used to food like this.. Just as he was about to take a second bite, a radiant figure had made his way over and took a seat across from Moon. He had a plate of his own, with an array of different foods like waffles, sausage and scrambled eggs. An actual meal compared to the lazy, sweet stack that Moon had. Why the hell do people keep flocking to me, I hate it.. he thought with an annoyed pang in his chest once again. Lifting his head, he noticed that the person sitting across from him was Ash, from the Glowball game earlier on the court. The male grinned at him, wishing him a good morning. Ash appeared to be a brilliant student with golden hair and a vibrant clothing style. You'd never lose him in a crowd. "How are you two enjoying Novas so far?" he asked. He's so bright.. "My name is Ash Everglow. I'm an upperclassmen. This will be my 2nd year here. You guys are gonna love it. Trust me!" the male started to dig into his own breakfast now. @Bunny of Paradise 🌺

Julliana didn't make an immediate move when it was clear the buffet was open, remaining sat at her little spot and watching as other students rose and headed for the tables - including Moon. Her hands were tucked lightly between her knees as she took a moment to herself, taking slow, steady breaths to calm herself. There was a lot going on right then - emotionally and externally, and she was keen not to allow herself get overwhelmed. Moon would already be heading back to the table and the seat next to her before she would finally rise, glancing to his plate of pancakes before heading towards the buffet herself. Her own selection would include some pastries alongside some fresh fruit, granola and a flavoured yoghurt, mixing up everything but the pastries before heading back to the table - they would be having a tour next so she wasn't wanting anything that was going to sit too heavy on her stomach. By the time she got back, she noticed the blonde student who had spoken up earlier regarding the houses taking a seat opposite Moon. Fortunately she had made it back to her own spot before any of the guys fan club had spotted where he had taken a seat to eat his own breakfast. Slipping back in she glanced between the two as Ash wished a good morning in Moons direction. As expected he didn't get an immediate reply from the dark haired guy. Settled to her place on the bench she would give a smile to the blonde guy. There was no way she would be able to deny that he was certainly conventionally attractive, not to mention his approachable and friendly aura would easily draw people to him. Ana herself though believed she could find enough happiness within to not be drawn to the light of others - instead, she hoped one day to be the light that drew in those that needed it... or bathed those that needed it in her light whether they wanted it or not. Like Moon! "It's certainly been a lot to take in so far... but the energy here feels good, encouraging. Its nice to meet you

Ash, I'm Ana Glimmerbrook." She replies lightly with another smile, before reaching her spoon to tuck into the granola, fruit and yoghurt mix. The silence as her and Ash were eating would certainly allow Moon to give his own introduction should he choose to do so, and she wondered if he would be more inclined to be friendly towards Ash than he had been with her so far. Ash smiled at Ana, acknowledging her presence and even went so far as to happily respond to her. "Likewise, Ana. It is amazing to meet a Glimmerbrook here. I always thought your family was well beyond a school such as Novas. Making a change, eh?" His aura was bright. He was friendly, kind, and above all never judged others. "The same goes to you as well, Moon StarFrost.. I always enjoy making friends. So I hope we can be good ones while studying here" Ash's gaze on the dark haired male felt almost suffocating to Moon. But he didn't show it. "Say what you want, but we're not friends.." he huffed before continuing to eat his pancakes. "I'm only here cause my father told me to go here. Not like I have much choice in the matter.." Ash tilted his head a bit at the words, curious to know more. But Ana seemed to have prevented him from asking anything more to the brooding male. "Tips? On your classes here? Nothing too crazy I suppose.." he thought for a moment. "Family-Magic is probably one of the most important classes, even though all are important. It's your roots, where you come from. There is also Magical History, Offensive and Defensive Magic.." The glowing light in his hand slowly faded away and Ash returned to eating a bit. "Offensive and Defensive Magic teaches one how to use magic in case of situations where you face unsavory Druids or Veilwalkers.. nasty beings they are.." Ash shivered a bit at the thought. "Damn things will feast on your essence if you aren't careful.." Moon, who was casually eating his breakfast and just listening to the conversation had a thought. One that reminded him of how he got here to Novas. That black, ethereal creature he had encountered. Was that a Veilwalker? He could ask about it, then those two would be worried for him and he wasn't about to have people fawning over him with worry and grief. Just the thought of it annoyed him. "Magic History teaches the history of magic.. self explanatory. Potions and Elixirs is a good one

Ana laughed a little awkwardly as Ash commented about her last name, blushing a moment from being recognised though it was bound to happen. What she really wondered is what would happen when people started to realise what magic she did have... not the water but... the very un-Glimmerbrook magic that she currently had no control over. "Hah... well yeah... we are mostly home schooled by family and extended family on the estate... I just uh... they have their limits at home, some magic is unknown to them and it was better I came here." She felt it was vague enough to get by for now, and hopefully without many questions pushing for more information. As Ash's attention turned to Moon she would smirk a little, taking another bite of good but giggling as Ash commented about being friends with Moon - she'd got to know him enough at least to know just how much that would bother the guy. And as expected, Moons cold retort snapped back about not being friends. Her Hazel eyes glanced to him at the side of her a moment, watching him eat as he spoke about being forced into attending by his father. That explained so much more than he probably intended - especially as he had already aired his interest in not having magic. Maybe he didn't want to get to know people because he figured he would be leaving soon anyway... didn't want to let his walls down and potentially find he could enjoy something he so actively despised currently. Reaching for one of her pastries, Ana would tear it open as she listened to Ash now move onto the subject of their classes. She found herself wondering whether Moon would be grateful for the pull of attention off of him or if he wouldn't register it, glancing to him as he seemed to focus on his breakfast only rather than what was being said. Julliana however would do her best to give Ash her attention, smiling and nodding as he spoke to show she was listening. "Family magic will be interesting... rom even if you don't know? I mean... if someone didn't know. I imagine they get the occasional student who had no idea they had magic even, let alone about their ancestry..." It was hard for her not to seem overly intrigued in what the answer to her question might be, as if confirmed that would mean her search for her father may be suddenly considerably shorter. She just needed to trace her magic and hopefully he would be somewhere in the university files. Then she could find him... learn more about it... learn how to control it. Hearing about the veilwalkers though made Ana crease her face up in distaste. She knew of them for sure... growing up in such a heavy magic using family meant the mention of veilwalkers was used as a way to scare children into behaving. Do your chores or the veilwalkers will get you, apologise to your sister or the veilwalkers will come kind of things. You generally get to an age though when you figure they aren't real... and then the true stories of them come. "Have you... ever seen one? A veilwalker? I thought it had been years since the last reported sightings..." She would ask curiously. It hadn't gone unnoticed though that Moons casual eating of his breakfast seemed to shift slightly in the conversation, and she wondered if he had ever heard of them where he had grown up.
22:06
He of course hadn't expected to have magic himself so she suspected he was more aligned with the Mundane world than the magic one. Ash had moved to the final subjects though and she couldn't help but giggle at the tale of the love potion. She wasn't ever interested in potion making herself back home but she knew a few basics. Love potions weren't something permitted within the family though, especially as it was family duty to marry someone the family chose for you, for alliances and strengthening family magic rather than love. Noting Moon had been so silent throughout though, after finishing her pastry she would turn to him, tilting her head to one side. "Is there a class you're most looking forward to Moon? Familiars sounds quite interesting. I hope mine is cute."

Hearing Ana ask such a question after hearing about family-magic made him rather glad he was more Mundane than Druid. "You know.. DNA tests are a thing.." he said, sounding more like a braggart than anything. "Just get your DNA tested. Simple enough.." Ash tilted his head a bit at the question of Veilwalkers, thinking for a moment. "Hmm, hard to say. I've never seen one personally so I wouldn't know exactly.. All I know is that they prey on Druids with strong Essence.. Anyone who survives such an encounter should count their blessings.." Moon, who had been eating his breakfast in silence was still listening to the conversation, despite the appearance of not paying attention or caring. If what that bright idiot in front of him speaks truth, then he was lucky to be alive. The real question is where did it come from and why did it come for him? This meant that he would have to keep his wits sharp if he ever went out into the Mundane's world. "But, that's one of the reasons the school has a barrier. To keep potential Veilwalkers out. Along with unsavory Druids of course and any other harmful things out beyond the school" he grinned, beginning to chow down on his own breakfast. Moon, who had been silent until a little bit earlier spoke up. "Is that why the school is also hard to find?" Ash nodded his head, swallowing his food and wiping his mouth with a nearby napkin. "Yes. If the school were in one place, it would make it easier for undesirables to try and take down the barrier. Which is why the Founders of the school enchanted the barrier and the entirety of Novas. The school only shows up for those who need it. But only if the student enrolls to the school will they be allowed through" he grinned. So the school only shows up to those who need it.. It explains why it showed up when I was searching for it.. But I could only enter through the barrier because dad enrolled me.. Such high security measures.. I hope mine is cute." Moon stared at Ana for a moment before dismissing what she had said. "I just need to pass the classes, there aren't any favorites.." he replied harshly. The idea of Familiars didn't seem to interest him much like it did Ana. Though Ash seemed to share the excitement with her instead. "Familiars are just as you think, Ana. They're an extension of yourself. The familiar chooses you though, so you don't pick them out like a pet in a pet store.." he chuckled. "I'll have to show you mine sometime. Can't do it at the table, unfortunately" he winked to her with that playful smile on his face. "You'll learn in your class soon enough. But just know that the familiar is bonded to you. It is not just a companion, but an assistant. Make sure you remember that, alright?" Moon didn't seem to like the idea of a Familiar. "That stuff is just gonna hold me back. I don't need one." Ash raised his hand, pointing one finger at Moon. "Now, don't be like that, Moon. They're an assistant. If anything, they'll help you grow as a Druid." Ash looked to Ana and smiled, "Tell me, what kind of Familiar do you wish to have?" A quiet one, preferably.. Moon thought exhausted. @Bunny of Paradise 🌺

The comment regarding the DNA tests was somewhat brushed off by Ana, her attention still on the fair haired student sitting opposite them. He certainly had a way of captivating an audience, as evidences by a small crowd around them also watching their way as he spoke of the classes and the voidwalkers. It seemed everyone was interested in what Ash had to say apart from Moon. The comment about being particularly keen on those with a strong essence made Ana nod her head lightly. The barrier around the school certainly made sense, as no doubt such a large gathering of magic users would increase the odds of these voidwalkers showing up, there was no doubt some particularly powerful Druids amongst the crowds gathered at the tables. The sudden question from Moon took Juliana by surprise as she looked over to him, raising a brow - seems he was listening after all even if his attention had been solely focused on his pancakes. She nodded her head, the reason for the school being difficult to find making sense... she was just glad she had found someone that could direct her to it after all, or she would have been travelling and searching forever. "They could advertise a little more though... a university with no location and impossible to enter without enrolment I'd pretty complicated to find out about..." Ana would chuckle quietly, shrugging her shoulders before turning to have a few more bites of her breakfast. Most students were starting to finish up as evidenced by the clinking of plates as people started to clear up, so she wanted to be ready to go for whenever the announcement regarding the tours was going to be said. Moons response about not having a favourite class made Ana sigh a little, leaning to nudge him with her arm lightly and shaking her head. "Having a favourite class doesn't make the class your friend you know. You are allowed to have feelings and enjoy something. We won't tell anyone." She would flash him a little grin before looking back to A

sh as he explained about the Familiars. The comment about showing her his at some point brought a slight pink tint to her cheeks, and she glanced around to check if anyone had noticed before reaching her hand out towards the jug of water on the table. She would raise the water from the jug, bringing to fill the glass in front of her before reaching to take a sip. "Sure... but I don't plan on using my familiar as just some tool. I've seen people who do that... hurts my heart the way they treat them sometimes." She would smile lightly, glancing brief to Moon as he didn't want one, she needn't scold him for the negativity though as Ash had beaten her to it, instead she would audibly humm over what it was she was hoping to get. "I just hope it's something warm and fluffy. My sister has a lizard and... eh, not really my thing". @Mandragora (Fauna)

Moon remained silent while the other two were discussing about Familiars. It wasn't exactly something he hated per se, but he didn't want any distractions or things holding him back from his studies. Though, if Familiars was going to be a class he had to partake in and he couldn't opt out of it, then he would have no choice, right? The mention of Ash offering to show her his familiar and seeing the slight pink on her cheeks made him smirk a bit. What kind of stuff are you thinking about.. he thought to himself. Ash had also noticed but didn't say anything. Though what Ana said about treating familiars as tools did make his heart hurt a bit. He wasn't the kind of person to use someone like that. Rather, he just keeps them at a distance and prevents people from getting close to him. Which is why he would rather have a Familiar that doesn't need that much care. Easier for him that way. "Warm and fluffy? Like a dog or cat?" Ash tilted his head, smiling. "Well, I guess any fuzzy animal would work for that. You never know what kind of creature you're gonna get. It's up to how well you do at summoning. You can wish for something you want, but chances are you may get something else. Opposite of what you want even." The cold male took this chance to pick up his empty plate, along with Ash and Ana's while they were busy talking and left the table to go put them on a cart where the other dirty dishes had been stacked for the kitchen employees to take and wash. While Moon was away, Ash brought something else up. "I hope I didn't make you uncomfortable or anything, Ana. I noticed you reacted a bit earlier about my familiar. I won't pressure you into seeing them or anything. Just thought maybe you'd like to see them.." he smiled faintly, reaching out a hand to touch hers as a form of reassurance. "I don't wanna bring them in here just cause they're a bit big and they really love food. No table manners whatsoever.." he chuckled. His eyes looking at hers for a moment bef

I can show you around outside first. Then, we can work on exploring the inside of the school, sound like a plan?" That vibrant grin on his face returned. Moon just shrugged. He was indifferent about how Ash wanted to do the tour. As long as he got one, it didn't matter what order it was done in. Thinking more over the familiar subject Ana twirled her hair a little, gazing into the middle distance as she weighed up her options. Cats and dogs were relatively common Familiars that was for sure, but she quietly hoped she could get something a little more... unusual? Exotic? She wouldn't verbalise that though as truthfully she would be happy whatever the result would be. Moon reaching over to take up her plate took her by surprise and she sat back out the way, glancing up to flash him a thankful smile though it was unlikely he would be looking her way to see it. The fact he had thought to clear their plates too was a good sign she felt... he at least acknowledged being part of the group if not wanting to open up to being friends. First step along a long road most likely... Once he had moved away she shifted back to leaning on the table, hearing Ash say her name. Julliana lifted her head to look back over to him with a soft smile, laughing a little awkwardly at the embarrassment that her blush had been noticed and shaking her head quickly, waving a hand to dismiss. "No, no, it's fine... I would love to see them sometime" She would giggle out, glancing briefly to the way his fingers had slightly blushed hers. His explanation had certainly piqued her curiosity though and she peered back at him. "What are they?" She would manage to ask just as he withdrew, the clear of Ash's throat making her look around to see Moon just passing behind her to return to the bench. Once she looked forwards again, Ash had already risen to his feet. As he spoke, Ana hurried about getting herself ready and back to her feet too, brushing a loose strand of her waves back behind her ear. She would grin brightly to the blonde guy, nodding her head keen for the tour. The place had certainly amazed her so far so it was exciting to see what might be ahead. "That sounds great! Do we have a little group?" She looked around expectantly to see others of the new class gathering for his tou

r - it wasn't going to be just herself and Moon was it? It seemed no one else was immediately gathering though making Ana perk a brow. Not minding though she turned to follow as they headed out. "It's probably best to see the grounds early, that seems like a great plan." She would perk up as they started to head back towards the doors. Ana would adjust her speed every so slightly so she would fall back into line alongside Moon, rather abruptly reaching to loop an arm through his as she gazed over the paintings they were walking past again. "I wonder what our rooms are going to be like... at home I've always had to share my room with my siblings. We got a big house but an even bigger family. Or well, that was before the fire. I hope I get my own bedroom here." Her mention of the fire had been so non-chalant it would have been easily missed by someone not paying attention, or busy wishing for her to let go... Once outside, Ana took a deep breath of the fresh air. It seemed even fresher in the grounds of Novas than in any of the towns or cities she had been to over the years and rather energising as she gave a little all-body shiver, turning to Ash to see what he wanted to show them first.

Ash smiled faintly after Ana had asked what kind of familiar he had. He'd rather it be a surprise and show her that way if anything. "You'll have to wait and see" he responded before calling the other students who were at their table to join the group with Moon and Ana. There were a few other upperclassmen around who were also doing the same thing. Each one took half the table. Making a total of 6 groups, 2 per table. "Well, a little group is how you define it. There are 5 other upperclassmen taking groups. 2 from each table, 3 tables in total" Ash explained before motioning with his hand for the group to follow him out beyond the great hall doors and into the courtyard. After descending the small steps and onto the grass, Ash turned around, walking backwards and extending his arms out beside him. "This here is the Courtyard, ladies, gentlemen and our nonbinary pals" he grinned. "This area, along with many other areas around the outside of the school buildings are happily cared for by the staff here. They take great pride in making Novas as beautiful and relaxing as possible" The courtyard had a 4 foot stone wall wrapping around the outer area, separating school grounds from the forest. The sight of planters can be seen lining the walls with various plants in them. There were a few students who were adept at using nature-type magic to assist with growing. "The space out here is pretty great for activities, don't you think?" Ash continued, turning around so his back was facing the group. He pointed over to where the bleachers were and the sight of students playing Glowball. "Lots of fun can be had playing Glowball, but that's if you've got a good grasp on your magic. Slack off in your classes and ultimately you could be held from playing" he warned. Moon watched the students, watching their hand movements as they maneuvered the Glowball around the grassy court. "Why is that?" one student asked, raising his hand. Ash glanced at the student who asked and resp

onded accordingly. "Because.. if you do not have a good handle on your magic or aren't concentrating enough, you can harm others. The same goes for if you are playing a magic sport like Glowball. If you can't control the ball, ultimately you or someone will get injured.." It seems understandable.. Moon thought to himself as he continued to follow the crowd. This means I gotta focus on my studies.. What a pain.. Moon looked down at his hands, staring at his blue-tipped fingers which were always freezing. He didn't own a pair of Spell Gloves due to growing up and living in the Mundane world. Hopefully he'd get his own in due time. What he didn't notice until now was the fact that Ana had snuck her arm around his. It reminded him of something a couple would do and he immediately unlinked his arm from hers, taking a few steps away from her. The hell does she think she's doing? Annoying.. he huffed quietly to himself. It's like she's trying to piss me off or something. I already told her we aren't friends. Why is she so persistent? Ash led the group around the corner of the building towards what looked to be a large ranch of sorts. It was a fenced off area that had at least a hundred different familiars. The bigger ones that obviously could not fit inside the school. "And here.. my friends.. is the Familiar Ranch.. This is where all the familiars of students, teachers and faculty live. They are very well cared for by our amazing Custodian, Professor Orion Emberfrost" the blonde-haired male exclaimed, jumping up to stand on top of the fence with ease and pointing off towards the middle of the field where a figure stood, tending to some familiars at the moment. "He is one of your professors for 1st years. You will work with him on learning and taking care of familiars. Don't worry, you'll love him" Ash grinned, waving out to the professor who managed to spot the group and waved back. @Bunny of Paradise 🌺

Hearing Ash describe how the tours were going to go, Ana would nod, looking around to the other upperclassmen beginning to group up some more of the new starters. It wasn't a surprise that their own group seemed to somehow acquire a few more of the female first years from the pack, and a handful of guys that seemed to be discussing glowball positions already. Ash certainly attracted a particular crowd to him it seemed. Once they were outside, Ana would look around again at the courtyard and the towering university building now behind them. It was certainly well maintained, the brickwork almost pristine yet still holding enough evidence to show the age of the university. She couldn't imagine the amount of work that went into it - even with the aid of magic. As they continued further Ana admired the planters and the variety that lined the walls, breaking up the appearance of the bricks and allowing it to blend more with the forest further behind. She found herself curious what could be beyond the forest... given the way the university moved... would you just end up in the middle of somewhere random if you kept walking? Her arm shifted a little in Moon's, the height difference between them making it more difficult to maintain as he wasn't exactly leaning into it. The ongoing glowball games hummed in the distance and she looked over. They played it back home occasionally but it was never something she had been very good at, or enjoyed, so she probably wouldn't bother too much with it herself. As the chatter turned to hurting people when you didn't have control over her magic, Ana would recoil a little, shrinking slightly next to Moon just as he was looking at his hands. A wave of guilt washed over her as she thought back to the fire, their home destroyed. She had been lucky no one was injured. Hopefully the same incident wouldn't happen again... Her thought process would be interrupted though as Moon pulled away. Walking away from her. Looking over to where he had
17:46
gone she felt her smile drop away - her memories had already kicked her down a little to dull her spark and enthusiasm. Sighing, she wrapped her arms around herself instead, slowly and quietly moving to follow as they wandered off through the grounds. As they approached the ranch however, Ana spotted some of the Familiars in the attached field. Squealing she would suddenly run forwards, jostling some of the group out of the way to get to the front at the fence as everyone else arrived. Her hands rested on the wood beam, staring out as Ash came alongside to hoist himself up on the fence. Staring ahead with her eyes wide and bright she would sigh a happy "they're beautiful..." As she watched. The wave from the keeper would be returned with an overly jovial one of her own, laughing lightly before she turned to look at Ash. "Are yours here too?"

Ash stared out at the ranch's pasture and then to Ana who was clearly in awe of the ranch. She was probably the only one who was truly excited to see the familiars. There were all kinds with their own little habitats that they would normally be used to living in. "Yeah, mine is usually here due to his size. Can't really bring him into the school or else he'd knock everything over and break stuff" the blonde responded with a smile. He tapped Ana's shoulder before pointing to something off in the distance. It was a large creature with long, almost wooly fur and an assortment of stripes all along its body with a wild mane around its neck. A small trunk for a nose with long tusks and sharp claws. "That creature is called a Baku. They eat nightmares, and some dreams. But he has such a big appetite aside from dreams that it's hard to eat around him.." he sighed, but gave a small smile. "He's really shy, so that's why he's all by himself" Moon, who hung back and wasn't near the fence like the other two, just watched the other Familiars in silence. Students whispered and chattered amongst themselves for a bit. A familiar like that.. would be suitable, I suppose.. the male thought to himself. Ash pushed himself off of the fence, landing on his feet. "Let's continue on!" he announced to the group before motioning for Ana to join them. "Come on, let's keep it moving. We're almost done with the outside" he grinned. The group walked about the outside of the campus, with Ash going on about the different gardens located around the grounds, the greenhouse off near the edge of the campus as well as a bit of a warning to students about the forest that surrounded the school. "As some of you may know, you arrived to Novas by wandering through the forest.." he began, gesturing to the tall trees that seemed to go on forever. "While it is safe to wander during the day, please take care not to wander at night" Moon was silent during the tour, listening here and there if anyth

ing caught his interest. The forest, was one of them. "The forest here is generally safe. If you decide to take a walk or wander, do be mindful that you must go with a small group. Going alone is not allowed. Missing students is not new information, however if you suspect something is going on or students are disobeying the rules, please let a professor know. We'd like to keep the casualty count low this year.." Moon raised an eyebrow at this sudden information. So students would often times get lost in the forest at night and never turn up? Or maybe they do turn up, but not alive? Ominous. What sort of creatures lurked in those woods at night? Curiosity was getting the better of him but he let those thoughts be put aside for now. @Bunny of Paradise 🌺

Ana payed little attention to the fact that the majority of the group they were touring with paid little attention to the ranch or the familiars within, many busy with their own conversations as they got to know each other and form those important bonds of friendship that would take them through the coming class years. Instead, she had her eyes completely fixated on the ranch in front of them and the various creatures going about their day. As Ash tapped her shoulder, her gaze would lift and follow the point of his hand to the creature in the distance, raising a brow as he explained what it was, making it clear that was his own Familiar. “Eating nightmares… that sounds like a good one to have around.” She would laugh awkwardly, not really meaning to but possibly devling a little into her own darkness with that comment. The fact the creature was on his own though made her sad. “What is he like with new students? Would I be able to go say Hi to him someday… I could come keep him company during free periods.” Sighing softly, Ana moved a little further along the fence before placing her grips firm to the top, leaning back enough so she could lift her foot tot he lower spur and hoist herself up too, giving her a better look as she perched herself sitting sideways against the wooden beam. Behind her she had heard the thud of Ash’s own feet hitting the ground again, and his words to urge the group on to the next section. Julliana made no effort to move though, just quietly watching the nature going on. There was a certain peace when it came to creatures… more than was achieved around people anyway. The group had already began to move off before Ana would finally peel herself away, watching the group in the distance before carefully jumping down herself and hurrying along to catch up. It didn’t take too long for her to come back to Moon’s side, though this time she didn’t make a move to link arms with him - he had made it clear that she had perhaps overstepped a line
21:53
with that already. Tuning back in, it seemed she had missed a lot of the conversation in the time she was away, just reaching in time to hear the warning about not wandering at night. Wandering where? Ana wondered, perking a brow as she looked around them to figure out if there was somewhere notable he could have meant. Nothing sprung to mind though and Ana shrugged - it probably wasn’t that important anyway or there would be signs up, right? The conversation continued onto the forest though, giving Ana the false impression the two matters were unlinked. As he advised they enter the forest in groups only Ana pouted a little looking over to the tree line before speaking under her breath, probably just loud enough that Moon would hear. “That’s a shame… I wondered what could be in there.” Before a small smirk played at her lips. The warnings of missing students didnt really phase her - likely they went home or snuck away and lost track of how to get back to the school. The last thing on her mind was the possibility of anything bad having happened. Looking to Moon she saw his expression too as he looked at the forest, a hint of curiosity behind his gaze. “We should go sometime. I’m sure they just say about casualties to try and scare us.” Flashing a grin she shrugged, before moving forwards again, wondering if the group was going to head inside now or not.

Ash shook his head at Ana for a moment at hearing the question on if it was okay to spend time with the Baku. "He tends to stay away from others. He is used to Professor Emberfrost but only because he takes care of all the familiars here. You're welcome to try, but don't expect much of a greeting" the male smiled lightly before moving the group along. Moon's attention towards the forest after hearing the warnings was still filled with curiosity. He didn't like the idea of having to go in groups during the day though. The fact that going at night was off limits did intrigue him some. But the warning of missing students and a rising casualty count did push him away some. I wonder what sort of creatures live in there.. I didn't see anything in there when I arrived.. The brooding male's attention was then brought to Ana who suggested they go sometime. He wanted to brush that offer away like he normally would but his curiosity was peaked. "If the only way I'm able to go in there is with another person.. I don't really have a choice in the matter, do I?" he grumbles, clearly disliking the idea of having to go with her. Though he did notice she wasn't being super clingy like before. "Fine." That was all he said before following after the group, more slowly this time so he wasn't surrounded by a bunch of students. It was starting to feel a bit constricting being in a crowd like this one, something he didn't like at all. Instead his focus was on the pin he had on his jacket, looking at the Shield crossed with a Quill for a bit. Discipline, Vigilance, Duty.. Do I really carry these house traits? Thinking about it, he did have discipline for himself. Keeping his emotions from being a distraction. He was also vigilant in what was going on around him. He would take notice of the slightest things. Duty however was yet to be determined. He knew he didn't really care for magic, but he was here, and he should at least follow through with what his Father had told him.
22:51
Maybe he could study about magical creatures in the library? That would be the best way for him to keep out of trouble, unlike Ana who was clearly more interested in delving headfirst into the unknown. "Now that we have explored the outside of the grounds.. Let's head inside so we can swap places with the group already finished with the ground floor of the Academy.." Ash's voice rang out ahead of the group. Seems they had made a complete round of the grounds and were heading back into the Great Hall to swap with the other group so they could begin their tour inside the building. "Take care not to get lost, alright?" the blonde grinned before walking up the steps into the building, greeting the other upperclassman who had their own group of first years. Moving out of the way some, the other upperclassman led the way downstairs out of the great hall. The students with him were chattering loudly as they followed. Once the doors to the great hall shut behind them, Ash extended his arms out. "We've arrived back at the Great Hall. I'm sure you students remember this area. Only an hour ago you were here getting assigned to your House and enjoying breakfast.." he grinned widely. "It isn't everyday that the first thing you do when joining a new school is have breakfast before anything else. But keep it as a good memory, yeah? Food is a good motivator in some places. Now, let's head over to the Main Hall where I will show you the Offense and Defense classrooms.." Moon felt a little more constricted than last with the students due to the hallways. But it did feel somewhat home-like for some reason. Maybe because he knew he would be here for the next few years? Ash poked his head into one of the Offense and Defense classrooms, seeing that it wasn't being used. So, he shuffled the students inside. "This is one of the classrooms for the Offensive and Defensive Magic classes. This one in particular is for you Year One students.." @Bunny of Paradise 🌺

When Ash would decline Ana's offer to spend time with his familiar she would pout a little, her shoulders slumping as she let out a soft sigh of disappointment. She tried not to let it get her down too much though, reminding herself that she too would have her own familiar to bond with before the year was out - that was something to look forwards to at the very least. The grumble from Moon thought at her suggestion to go into the forest had her roll her eyes too, though he had at least agreed to it at the end after all. She figured he was probably as curious as she was to see what was there - in fact, it was likely a curiosity shared amongst most of the group they were with, especially those who didn't come from a longer line of Novas trained Druids. No doubt the ones with a deeper family history with the university would have been warned even prior to attending of the dangers. As the group moved on once more, Ana moved to keep step with them, but sensed Moons figure dropping behind at her side. Slowing her own pace she looked back at him with a raised brow. He wasn't looking to her though, instead admiring the new house pin her had fastened to his jacket. Ana watched the way the light glinted off it as he turned it to look, chuckling quietly before he would reach her side again as she waited. "Come on... you don't want to get left behind yet, at least wait until after the rest of the tour so if you do get lost you have half a chance of making it to where you are meant to be." She would wait for Moons attention to be back forwards again before moving off after the group that they had fallen several strides behind the back of now, just about hearing Ash's voice over the sea of heads announcing they were to commence to the next part of the tour. Looking around at the grounds one last time before they headed in, Ana was quietly confident she could at least find her way around outside. It was certainly vast but mostly open, allowing students the opportunity to make
16:03
out the Novas building from wherever they may be. Except for deeper in the forest perhaps, but she would need to wait to find out just how deep that went. Ascending the steps towards the large entrance doors again, Ana glanced to the group just passing by alongside, scanning the faces of the other first years and trying to commit them to memory. That was going to be the difficulty she felt- students at Novas were sorted by attendance years rather than age, so it was almost impossible to determine if who you were speaking to was a 1st year or a 4th without asking, at least that's how it seemed to her currently as she hadn't recognised any particular stand out features between them. Returning to the great hall, Julliana was surprised to see evidence of their earlier breakfast had already appeared to be cleared away. There were small gatherings of students still sat at tables, chatting or working away, those who weren't involved in guiding or being guided it seemed.
16:03
Ash's comment about the uniqueness to the start of the day made her laugh a little- especially as the breakfast had been perhaps the least unique thing about it so far. "Isn't everyday you stumble into the forest of a magical, unlocatable University either" she would comment quietly under her breath, just enough for Moon to hear if he opted to pay attention. Though even if he did, she hardly expected him to respond at this point. They weren't long for the great hall though, hanging around just enough time to allow other groups to enter or exit as they all shifted routes. Once the doorways were cleared again, Ash had started to make way for them, with his group obediently following behind like a small herd of sheep, Ana and Moon still slightly a step or two behind them. Knowing they were now heading towards the classrooms, Ana grew quiet, instead turning her focus to memorising the routes and the hallway so she wouldn't risk being late. The slightly more compact space really didn't seem to bother her too much as the corridor lead to brushing shoulders occasionally with students hurrying the other way. Coming from a large family whom all resided... or had resided... in one large residence she was used the hustle and bustle of people heading different directions and focusing on their own thing. It was at least something that gave a warming comfort to her in the unfamiliar place. The group of students started to fall more single file as they funnelled into the empty classroom, and Ana would step just ahead of Moon to go inside, figuring he'd probably rather be at the back than in front of her. Once in, she would find herself looking around the classroom, taking in the layout. A few books were dotted around the edges but the space seemed to be primarily clear, with students seating and desks pushed further towards the back of the classroom. The space at the front likely leant itself towards the more practical nature of the classes that would be held there. Ana herse

lf did not feel that she was much of a fighter, so Offensive and Defensive spells weren't high on her priority list to learn. However, she did at least recognise that the magic they would learn, regardless of intent or nature, would help her better learn to control that fire burning within that was always feeling like it was seeking a target, an escape. Biting her lip, Ana found herself nervously wringing her hands together. Trying to distract herself she held up her hand, waving to try and get Ash's attention. "Could you show us something you learnt in this class?"

Ash was a bit surprised that Ana had raised her hand, as if she was already in class instead of on a tour. But I suppose that was the point of a tour, right? To ask questions? Not like it bothered the male any; he was happy to answer any questions that the students here had. He was only a 2nd year student though, so it's not like he had the answers to the universe or anything. "Could you show us something you learnt in this class?" Well, there was something he wasn't expecting. Ana wanted him to show off something from the Offense and Defensive magic class. That kind of thing would be a little difficult to do due to him not wanting to destroy the classroom with offensive magic. But, something simple could be good enough, right? "I suppose I can show you a couple of things.. Do we have a volunteer to help me demonstrate?" he asked, searching the crowd of students waiting for someone to offer their aid. Moon didn't have any control over his magic so obviously he didn't say anything. "I can, sir" a meek voice spoke from in the back. The students turned their heads to see a young female with bright red hair and freckles all along her face. "Perfect. Come on up on the dueling platform with me then.." he waved for the female to make her way through the crowd towards the front. She seemed rather nervous, anxious even. The female student climbed the few steps up onto the Dueling Platform. Ash walked towards her and held what looked to be a pair of Spell Gloves. "You can borrow these for now. Later on students will get their own pair when they join the Offensive and Defensive Magic Class.." he smiled to reassure her. The student nodded, taking the gloves and slipping them onto her hands. They were black in coloration but had some sort of gem or orb on the back of the gloves, clear in color but showed shimmers of magic within. "Now, I want you to cast something basic at me, alright? Don't be afraid and focus, okay? I'm going to defend" The female was silent for a
23:55
few moments before nodding her head as he went to go take his position on the other side of the Dueling Platform. Taking a breath and then exhaling, the female raised her hands in front of her, concentrating and focusing her magic into her hands. There appeared to be some sort of green liquid forming, growing to a small size of dripping ooze that never seemed to hit the floor. It would drip into itself like a ball. The sphere on her Spell Gloves glowed a sickly green. "Release it" Ash commanded and the female, while scared, did as she was told and launched the green oozing liquid straight towards Ash. The golden-haired male promptly raised his hands, a look of serious concentration on his face as the ooze hit something invisible. With a slight tilt of his hands, the invisible barrier became noticeable. It was clear like glass but any time he would move it, a certain trick of the light would make it disappear. The crowd was amazed at Ash's quick reflexes, clapping in awe at the upperclassman's ability to defend himself. Closing his hands into fists and then pulling them in a motion that looked like one ripping something apart, the invisible shield and the acidic ball both disappeared. "W-W-What was that?" the red-haired student asked, surprised by Ash's incredible control. "It's a glass shield. Perfect for defending and seeing your opponent. If you concentrate and train hard enough, you can make it stronger. Harder to break" he smiled, reaching out his hand towards the student who extended hers to shake hands. "You'll be a great duelist. Have some faith in yourself" The student nodded before removing the gloves and handing them to the male. "Y-Yes. Thank y-you.." she returned to her place in the crowd. @Bunny of Paradise 🌺

Ana grinned brightly as Ash agreed to the demonstration, clapping her hands quietly in front of her as she looked around. The request for a volunteer had her standing on her toes, mainly so she could look over the sea of heads of the other students gathered to spot whomever it would be that would be brave enough to put themselves forwards. She would have done so herself, but without an obvious water source being available in the room she was worried she would prove to be more of a hindrance than a help. However, Ana hadn’t spotted the girl behind them until her voice rang out through the room. Turning around, Ana raised a brow at the girl as she moved her way through the crowd towards the front. She didn’t seem like the usual sort who would put themselves forwards for such an activity, but Ana knew looks weren’t always everything. Moving back alongside Moon once she had passed, Ana clasped her hands in front of herself, her neck still stretched and chin lifted so she could see up the front. In a low voice she spoke to the guy besides her. “What sort of powers do you think she has?” It was a curious thought really, not just regarding the volunteer, but regarding all the students that surrounded them. Each of them would have their own unique powers within, unlike anyone else in the room. Carefully, Ana glanced around them all, she found herself wondering whether any one else had to deal with the fire that was burning within her - if they had already got control over it. Had anyone else almost brought harm to their family from an unexpected magic affinity? It was impossible to tell… The girl had acquired and fastened her spell gloves by the time Ana looked back forwards and was getting herself into position. Watching the demonstration play out, Ana listened to the instructions Ash was giving. Her neck was starting to hurt though from straining to see over the heads of the other students, so quietly she would make her way forwards, aiming to get nearer the front wh

ere she could get a better look - no doubt Moon would be able to cope by himself for a few minutes in the room. Popping out the front of their small group Ana watched the acid ball fly across the duelling platform before crashing into some form of barrier. Raising a brow, Ana instinctively stepped to side, just catching the light reflecting from the glass-like panel before Ash turned to show the rest of the group. The clap of Ana’s hands would ring along with the rest of the group and she would grin lightly - it was certainly a useful trick and she wondered how long it had taken to master that… and moreso what the practice had been like. This brought forward another question to her mind. Ana would wait however for Ash to answer the volunteers question before she would leave to rejoin the group, slowly her hand would raise again - sure, they weren’t in class, but the way she saw it was it prevented her from interrupting anything he might be leading to say by signalling she had something to say herself. Once she was acknowledged, she would speak up. “How long did it take you to learn that? Or well… how do they teach? Do they usually make you duel others? I wouldn’t want to hurt anyone… or… be hurt when trying to practice…” Her question was met with some murmurs through the crowd, but whether they were of students agreeing with the question, or those laughing quietly to each other at how cowardly she was seeming and how they wanted to duel, Ana was unsure.

Ash began talking a bit more about the class, answering questions from some of the students who were curious. It seemed that Julliana was one of them. "Yes, Ana?" he asked, pointing to her raised hand. "How long did it take you to learn that? Or well... how do they teach? Do they usually make you duel others?..." Well, that sounded like more than one question. More like a mouthful if anything. Moon would otherwise be annoyed by her, but the questions she asked were rather important. Despite him not really caring for the classes but knowing he would need to take them for his magic that he would be better off not having. "Learning spells depends on the student. Some pick it up quick, others take longer. Especially spells that are harder to learn and master. Tougher spells require more Mana. Just depends how much you have. Though you can gain more as you grow and train. Practice is the best thing you can do to improve and get stronger.." Ash smiled. "For me, I'd say it took me at least a month to master it. Though it does remind me of my Family-Magic so I may have learned it a bit faster than others.." He held out his hand, palm up as the formation of what looked to be a small glass shield formed. "If you think about it, Glass is different than Light Magic. Glass is made up of 2 different elements. Earth and Fire. Fire is unpredictable and very difficult to control. It's destructive. However, if you are able to contain it, even a small amount is enough.." Ash explained it rather simply as the Glass Shield was held in one hand. He tapped on it with the back of his knuckle a couple times. Then dropped it casually onto the ground. Watching it shatter completely. "See there? A minimal amount of Earth and Fire went into making that glass. It gets the job done, sure.. But to improve and get to something stronger like what I had demonstrated earlier? You would need to work harder.." With his hand held out in front of him, his other hand hovering over it, separated in di

stance by at least a foot. If you looked closely, you could see grains of sand form from the hovering hand's palm into the lower hand. One could equate it to that of an hourglass. Then, the bottom hand's palm started to flicker and spark, igniting the entire hand as well as the sand. He lowered the upper hand until it made contact with the lower hand. Both hands on fire now until he pulled them apart to reveal the sand had heated up considerably and was now a clear melted solid that could be molded. Ash made a simple small pane of glass, though it was thicker than the glass from earlier. "Those with a fire affinity have to learn control. Control is something every student here learns. However Fire is the hardest element. It responds to your emotions. If one cannot control their emotions, then the fire will do what it pleases. It must be tamed in order to use it's full power.. Else it becomes a force that can't be contained.." Ash took the newly made pane of glass and dropped it onto the floor, however it only cracked slightly instead of shattering like it's counterpart. "One could also equate Ice into this as well. A fierce snowstorm is enough to knock out power, smother crops and flora, freeze over water and engulf towns completely. Without proper control, you can expect that power to freeze you from the inside out. They are two of the most dangerous elements one would know.." The students within the group started to murmur to each other about what Ash had just said to them. "Glad I don't have to deal with either of those.." "Scary! Who'd want to have fire for their Family-Magic? I'd be afraid of burning something!" "I know right? What if I had Ice? I'd accidentally freeze myself!" Moon was silent, though listening to the worrisome chattering of his classmates. To think that emotion played a part in spellcasting. Good thing he locked his emotions up. He'd never make the same mistake twice. @Bunny of Paradise 🌺

Ana listened intently to the explanation Ash went into regarding, specifically, the glass shield spell he had used. That hadn’t been the entire purpose of her question as she had been more concerned over the duelling element, and as he started to touch on fire magic, she felt her skin prickle and almost instantly she regretted asking. Rubbing her arm with one hand, Ana would step backwards into the group who were fixated on watching as he cast, dropped, and recast the glass more slowly showing how it was done. Fortunately this meant no one noticing as she disappeared her way into the centre, biting her cheek a little. It was like the fire within her could now sense the fire magic being used in the room, and whether it was that - or her growing anxiety on the subject - but it felt like it was clawing to get out of her. Once she was back alongside Moon, Ana would lift her hand to her lips, nervously chewing on her nail. Ash had said about how those with fire affinity must learn to control, and about the emotions, so Ana in turn closed her eyes, muttering quietly under her breath… “Control… feel nothing… be in control… feel nothing…” It didn’t seem to be helping her though, or soothing her, and her skin grew pinker in tone as the heat within her was rising. It felt worse now she was trying to control it - normally it just escaped her before she noticed but here… she had been making such a concerted effort here… now it felt like it was going to engulf everyone and everything around them. The gossiping and low comments coming from the crowd were certainly not helping, and as someone uttered how much they would hate to have a fire affinity, Ana felt the burn of the flames licking the palm of her hand. Balling her hand into a fist she ducked her head, lifted her shoulders and dashed from the crowd towards the door, pulling it open and throwing herself into the corridor without another word to Ash, Moon or the rest of the group. Out in the corridor she found a few stu

dents passing by looked at her startled from where she had dashed out the room. She would flash them a meek smile before looking for a familiar direction. Spotting the route they had come, she ran down it, carefully dodging around students and professors that were in the hall untils he could throw herself back outside into the fresh air. She had no idea what everyone else must think of her sudden departure… or if they had even noticed at all. It wasn’t her immediate concern. Running down the steps 2 at a time she ran towards the fountain in the middle of the courtyard. Reaching into her pockets she pulled out her personal Spell Gloves, struggling to get them on over the burning and crackling flames decorating her palm and hand, starting to crawl up her lower arm towards her elbow. With the gloves on, the gem on the back glowed a fierce orange / red a moment, tuning into the fire already raging within. Her hands reached out in front of her and she focussed on the fountain… but nothing happened. Her anxiety and fear were too high to allow her to properly attune into the water. That didn’t stop her though, and the closer she got, the water would start to bubble and boil a little, agitated by her desperation. Then all at once the water would suddenly whirlpool and lift out as a column, flying towards Ana and… She stood, soaking wet, panting heavily in the courtyard. Her hair hung limp and dripped water around her face, but at least, her skin was cool again…
