There were words that he was starting to learn, including those for 'strength', 'flame/fire', and 'power', since some of them were on the bands clinging so tight to his arms and draining much of his natural heat from him, but there wasn’t enough to structure any kind of concrete spell. But he was making progress! It was better than nothing, that much was for sure, even if it was slow. Maybe someday soon he’d be able to create a mote of light like wizards so often did when it got dark out.
Right now though.. Shimmer was walking through the woods when the potent scent of blood and ash reached his nose, causing it to wrinkle as he stepped back. The scent of smoke tended to cling to a person, and he knew it all too well. It.. honestly brought back several bad memories, but maybe someone needed help! Yeah, that had to be it. Looking up at the sky, it didn’t seem like there was any kind of massive fire (thankfully, as if he didn’t have these bands, the trees would all be ash by now), so maybe it was someone by themselves? It didn’t take long for him to stumble across a woman’s body, clearly in bad shape with nothing but an unusually large wolf’s pelt nearby. “Dear god..” Shimmer mumbled, covering his eyes for a moment to preserve her decency.
Realizing that, if she was going to survive those wounds, he’d need to act fast, the phoenix shook himself out of his awkward hesitation and kneeled down beside the strange, injured woman and set to work, doing his best to treat her wounds to his admittedly lackluster ability. He wasn’t a doctor, nor did he have any real supplies on him, but he did his best to tend to her wounds and even set aside his only other change of clothes for her, simply.. Covering her with that pelt for now until she woke up, since he was sure the unconscious woman didn’t want some stranger dressing her or even touching her very much.. Not that he had a choice. Keep your mind out of the gutter, Shimmer, dammit..
