Luthais, in contrast to the imprisoned creature, was perfectly content with where he was. Of course, it was easier to be content when you weren’t locked in a cell. All of this was routine for him, anyway. As routine as work, or training. It was what Valurians did. They invaded planets, killed off their people, then maybe kept one or two lucky aliens imprisoned. In all honesty, it was so easy that it was beginning to bore the Valurian. How many thriving planets could one species rid of before it got tiresome?
As Luthais entered the corridor to the cell, he heard the rattling of chains long before he saw it. It was quite predictable. Every creature they’ve imprisoned initially attempted to escape, an action that was consistently fruitless. It was improbable for anyone to escape, but even if they could, they would simply end up in a locked corridor with guards posted at the door on a foreign planet. It was a foolish action, but one that was still attempted by essentially everyone.
Luthais continued to traverse down the corridor, the heel of his boots making a soft noise. After a few more moments, he was finally able to lay eyes on the prisoner. Well, for the second time. If he were the type to have a sense of humor, he would laugh at the sight. It was always so enthralling to see spirited creatures stuck behind a glass wall.
“If you are attempting to escape, it is hopeless,” Luthais began, the English language foreignly slipping off his tongue. It was his first time speaking it to another person, after all. “You are able to speak this language, correct?” Although the Valurian asked a question, he didn’t wait for a response. Instead, he continued to talk.
