It's not every day a fifth year transfers in to Hogwarts for their first year, but this year was that day. A new girl, sorted into the Hufflepuff house, enrolled in and began her year out with her first class. Defense Against the Dark Arts. Perfect. For such a rough start to the year, perhaps she could set the records straight with a good performance. "Professor Hecat." Muriel announced the moment she walked through the door right o time, setting down her textbook at an empty chair next to a Slytherin boy. She did honestly want to make a good impression on her teachers, and although it was a small greeting, she hoped it did enough. Class was about to start, spending her time all at the beginning getting a handle on one professor would be a waste... It was smart to wait until after class. Which, the old lady picked up on rather fast, giving the new girl a smile and a nod of acknowledgement. For her age, Hecat was a sharp woman. "Class, as you all know, Hogwarts welcomed a new fifth year into our school. When appropriate, please do not forget to give her a warm welcome." She started, now clasping her hands together as she dived deep into thought. "Miss Silva, why don't you and the boy next to you come down for a duel? Perhaps you two can get well acquainted that way." "But-" As fast as the young woman began to protest, she was swiftly silenced. "No buts, Miss Silva. I understand you're knew, but nothing is a better teacher than hands on learning. You cannot expect quality defensive skills with your nose in a book, can you?" That cornered the student. Muriel huffed, taking out her temporary wand and walking down to the sunken platform.

The day was as usual for Noah, couple of stares at the slytherin dorm hall, while he moved passed them without making no eye contacts. He was a direct descendant of the great Salazar Slytherin. The name of the dorm he was in. Though he didn't cared more about his lineage, others sure did. He was always the talking points among slytherin girls, and the others respected him as well. Noah was well spoken and never misspoke or demeaned anyone from the other groups. There was a misconception about him, that he hated mud - bloods, though he didn't. He couldn't care less about it, only few more years and he will be out if Hogwarts and will work for the Ministry of Magic. Things would be better then. He checked the time and went straight to the first class that was Defense against the Dark Arts. He took his book and went straight in, sat at a corner bench on the right and relaxed. Professor Hecat was a good professor and he loved the subject, but his expressions always looked like the opposite. A girl came and sat next to him, hupplepuff girl. New he thought. She called out professor Hecat when she was about to start her lecture, making duel demonstration a possibility between him and the new girl named Muriel. ..... Are you stupid.....?.... He thought while looking to this over enthusiastic girl. He had no choice. He stood up and when to the podium. He had no interest to be this active and grab attention of others at first thing in the morning. He took out his wand, which was very popular among others, a lineage based wand, used by few in centuries. Once honed by the legend salazar slytherin.. Others were excited to see his wand, it was a rare sight. Though, Noah knew he wouldn't drag it out. He would let her win with her first spell he will just fall to the ground. With a smirk in his eyes he announced - "You are a new student, i will give you a advantage. You will start with the spells. I will counter!". @Giyuuchan

With a long sigh, the girl walked onto the platform right before the professor lifted it up for the pair. Although she was happy to have first hand experience in a duel, it felt a little strange fighting against a classmate... Not to mention using a borrowed wand. She had a disadvantage, it'd take a miracle for her to win, especially without this mystery magic she weilded. But, this was how she learned. Muriel pulled out her wand, followed by a little flick. "Thank you kindly." She replied, with a sarcastic curtsey to follow... This boy seemed like he knew what he was doing. She needed a spell that didn't rely on getting past Protego... Perhaps blinding him? She knew the perfect spell, and it's only took a little bit of thinking. Just with a moment to spare, she made her first attack. "Lumous Solem!" She cast, and a massive beam of a bright white light directly at him, targeting his eyes primarily. This way, she could temporarily blind him without a worry of it being repelled or even deflected back at her. No spell could counter light, unless it was a reflection. Even still, it made it especially helpful in a duel. After that, she cast a few basic casts, and Protego to block most of her opponent's spells. Now she really felt like playing dirty... Although she didn't attend any magic schools until now, she lived in a town full of witches and wizards, she knew a few spells, especially the simple, dirty spells. "Rictusempra!" She cast, and if it landed, it would tickle Noah for a short amount of time, but hopefully, long enough to win.

Noah was conscious about the opponents continuous attacks on him. He was blinded first but after that he repelled most of her spells. He was waiting for something, a opening. He didn't wanted to show off but he suddenly wanted to win this duel, maybe due to her opponent's will. She didn't wanted to loose, and that moved Noah. So he waited for the right moment. He knew she will attack with a spell to subdue him and his chance came. With her opening for the big move on him after continuous barraging of small spells, Noah quickly counter attacked - "Expalliarmus". The whole class was silent. Something happened and they couldn't see it due to the smoke created repelling one of Muriel 's small attacks. @Giyuuchan

That was, sudden. In all honesty, she didn't expect him to be able to handle these spells... They're not difficult, just obscure, which can be more dangerous. So when their spells clashed in the middle of the platform, to say it shocked her, the professor and everyone around was an understatement. Muriel had to try something else... She didn't know that many more spells, so mixing up the new with the old was the only way to preserve the element of surprise. When the smoke cleared, she immediately went for a small one. "Nox." Suddenly, all the candles in the classroom instantly went out, leaving the room pitch black... What the hell? She didn't have that many spells left, she'd use them now. "Ventus!" She whispered, which shot a strong gust of wind in his direction, with the intent to knock him off the stage. Of course she didn't want to hurt him... That'd make for a shitty first impression.

The candles all went out , Noah was standing in the dark , suspecting a range or surprise attack. His face creating a vague smile making him understand , he was enjoying this all along. Suddenly a gust of wind came rushing towards him, it was really quick, making him go a few steps back to counter it, "Protego" , he exclaimed while taking little impact of the wind to repel it towards her. The plan was to repel the spell and launch a counter spell. With seconds of repeling the spell, he launched a counter, "Stupefy".He was thinking that now this time it will make her subdue while he waited in the dark classroom , for any counter of Muriel. ps-"Sorry for the late update, my exams were going on!" @Giyuuchan

The glowing spell firing in her direction so quickly after her own caused her to react a little late. When she countered with "Protego", only a fraction of the spell made it through, hitting her in the shoulder and causing her to stammer backwards somewhat. Shake it off, she had to shake it off. She had one last new spell to use, and she might as well start using it. "Incarcerous!" She encanted, a spell used to bind people. Muriel was still a little hazy from the stupify spell, but hopefully this made some progress in her favor.

Noah thought he had won and the smirk on his face was the living example. Atlast the duel was over, he can rest and let the class go by without any hiccups. Suddenly he heard Muriel's voice across him, spelling a binding spell at him. The spell came fast and he was out of his defence , his wand in his coat , he thought he had won. The spell attracted his body and quickly binded his whole body with moss roots and ropes, making him immobile and pinned to the ground. He groaned from the sudden fall, reminiscing why he had chosen this duel at the first place. It was a bad choice from his end, to stand defenceless and getting attacked, when he didn't knew the result. He thought people have got another topic to discuss behind his back. @Giyuuchan sorry for the late reply, and sorry its short.
