Benjamin Calabran BOT 11/16/2023 15:04
Ben had been sitting on the deck of his ship, watching his crew hustle around, all doing their daily assigned tasks. The crew was on their way to an area of uncharted waters, one not many pirates had come back from to tell the story. Benjamin's crew had been cutting their losses lately, with an enemy crew that seemed to just show up wherever they were, it was hard to get anything done but fighting. While Ben loved fighting, was practically raised into it- he also had things he needed to get done other than just fight. Fighting wouldn't make his father proud, no, bringing back something valuable would. Which is exactly what led him to where he was now, going into a dangerous part of the waters. He had got a tip about a week ago that something valuable lay just below the surface, something that couldn't be bought with any money in the world, and that alone caught Bens attention, he could get something no one else had… now that? That had to make his father proud, it was foolproof right? As he heard one of the lookouts yell he tipped his head upwards to better hear what they were making such a fuss about. As he heard the words “Captain! We've got a storm coming straight ahead!” He jumped to his feet, stumbling and letting out a little grunt as he did, his knee threatening to give out under the abrupt movement and sudden pressure it had been put under. Ben stood to his full height as he looked straight ahead, the waves were high, almost reaching to the top of the ships deck. Ben had to make a split decision, either risk everyone's lives and go through the eyes of the storm to get to their destination, or find somewhere to lay low for a while. In the end Ben’s determination to prove to his father that he was a worthy captain won that fight. Yelling out for them to keep going ahead, the rest of them being ordered to take cover for the harsh conditions that they were about to be going right through. Everyone soon made their way below deck, two of the lookouts staying on the

ir posts in the railed lookout spot. The storm was harsh against the boat, everyone holding on to what they could as the boat rocked, Ben had been standing at the edge of the room, making sure all of his crew members were accounted for. The storm went on through the night, everyone winding down to get some rest until they were through the worst of it. The sounds of waves barreling into the ship sending most men to sleep. It wasn’t the worst storm Ben had taken his crew through, so they all knew it was more than likely that they would be okay. Once morning came the storm had calmed down, they had made it through the worst of it, now alls that was left was for Ben to figure out exactly how far off route the storm had pushed them, grabbing his map and his compass as he quietly left the lower deck, walking to the front of the ship as he tried to compare his map to see if there were any similarities that could tell him where they had ended up. But there was nothing, not even a mountain that Ben had recognized. ‘Where the hell are we?’ He asked himself. Soon his crew began waking up, recruiting two of them to help him let the anchor down until he figured out how to get back on their original course. @MJ-3PO🤖

The sea was his home. Dark depths were looming with creatures behind a sailors wildest dreams and nightmares. His body was made for it. Black scales shimmered in a dark blue color as the sunlight hit them beneath the surface. He dove up besides the ship, swimming alongside it for a moment before he began to approach it slowly. Long raven black strands of hair was hanging from his shoulders, his dark blue eyes skimming over the deck, waiting if any of the men had noticed the danger that had been approaching them. Once he was certain nobody had noticed him yet, he swam closer to the ship and parted his lips to sing: "Upon once summer's morning, I carefully did a stray Down by the Walls of Wapping, where i met a sailor gay Conversing with a bouncing lass, who seemed to be in pain Saying William, when you go, I feel you will never return again" His voice rang mysterious, deep and undoubtedly beautiful through the air around the ship, clearly audible for every member of the crew to hear. The siren himself had heard this particular song many times, often sung by the sailors themselves. He did not completely understand the meaning of it, but it had to be a song of mourning, something that had to remind him of home, something familiar. Soon every human on the ship would be bound by the spell of his siren's song, unable to withdraw their senses from this deadly lullaby… "My heart is pierced by Cupid I disdain all glittering gold There is nothing can console me But my jolly sailor bold…" He continued his deadly serenade, luring the crew towards their sweet looming death... @Eli

Ben and his crew were none the wiser to what was waiting for them. All of them that had their assigned jobs done were relaxing on the deck, taking advantage of the rare free time they seemed to have. Between fighting the enemy crew and doing their assigned tasks, along with fishing for food and profit, it was rare they all had a moment to just sit back and be normal people. As soon as Ben heard the song start he was captivated for a moment. The melody was beautiful, and the voice singing it was almost captivating, his eyes glazing over a bit as he listened to it. But when he took a look around at his crew he noticed none of them were the ones singing, he shook himself out of his trance, his hands immediately going up to cover his ears. He had never encountered a siren, never thought he would, assuming they were just a work of fiction to try to keep pirates off the waters. But from all the stories he read, he knew enough to know that they lure you in with a song, not much time being granted before you would be out under a spell of sorts. He soon yelled for his crew to cover their ears, he didn't know how much time he had. To get them all safe. He watched as everyone stared at the water, seemingly in a trance. “Cover your damn ears!” He shouted. Praying that some of them would listen to him so they could help him in warning the others. @MJ-3PO🤖

Chaos burst out on the deck once his sweet vocals rang through the air. The siren couldn't hold back a small smirk behind that small smile on his face as he looked up on the few sailors who stormed to the rail, eyes glazed over in a trance as they watched that mythical creature with their mouth agape. It didn't take long for his gaze to focus on one boy in familar. He was younger than most, eyes filled with so much hunger and desire for him. He was practically begging for his cue to join the siren in the waters. A wicked smile formed on Axenus' lips as he raised his voice, focusing more on this human in particular with his entrancing melody. "His hair it hangs in ringlets, his eyes as black as coal My happiness attend him wherever he may go From Tower Hill to Blackwall, I'll wander, weep and moan All for my jolly sailor, until he sails home" My prey... He thought to himself as he sang, his deep ocean blue eyes locked onto that boy. Slowly he raised his clawed hands towards the boy, opening his arms for a warm, but certainly deadly embrace. @Eli

Ben watched with bated breath as some of his crew moved towards the edge of the ship. Most of them had covered their ears as directed, the other half too captivated by the beautiful melody to pay attention to anything Ben was trying to say. His mind was racing, of all the things his father had taught him about being captain one day, preparing to resist a siren had not been one of those things. Ben's eyes widened as he saw the younger, newer recruit leaning further over the edge, than the rest of them. Was he the target? Was he going to jump into the dangerous waters below? Ben tried to think of what to do, how he could potentially pull this man out of dangers way, but he came up with nothing, his irritation growing as he realized he was almost completely helpless in this situation. Everyone that had their ears covered watched the scene that was unfolding intently, everyone letting out sounds of protest as they watched the man drop into the water below. The only sound that could be heard was Ben shouting. ”NO” he yelled as he ran to the edge to look down at where the man had just jumped. @MJ-3PO🤖

The human sailor was completely smitten by the sirens voice. Wide eyes stared down at the beautiful creature who beamed him, and only him into the water. "An angel..." He muttered as he climbed over the railing, ignoring all the shouting and warnings to not jump, but it had no use. The boy had completely given in the moment he closed his eyes to plunge into the deep icy waters below... The moment when the boy plunged into the water was the moment the sirens song stopped. With only a flick of his tale he shot into the waters below towards the boy who was unable to see him approach, but only hear the soft melody. Axenus approached with a warm smile, coming closer to see those eyes glazed over staring up at him, completely captivated and unbothered by the fact that he was in need for air. The siren only wrapped his arms around the human, his hum continuing as his claws grazed that warm cheek. Only a few more seconds. A few mere seconds for the siren to get what he wanted... @Eli

Ben’s mind was racing as he watched the man sink further under the water, trying to think of a way he could save him. Was there even a way…? Was he too late? He quickly shook those thoughts from his head, waiting and getting lost in his thoughts would just give the siren more time to kill the boy, and he couldn't have that. Ben quickly reached over to grab his knife that he always kept on him, Ben might not know how to kill a siren, but he was pretty sure at least hurting them would give him enough time to get to the surface. He stood back for a second, taking a deep breath. “Keep your weapons on the water should I be followed up” he ordered his crew. Walking over to the railing before jumping in, probably a stupid move on ben’s part, but no man left behind was something he had always preached. He opened his eyes under the water, which would probably hurt like hell later but that wasn't his main focus, letting his eyes travel around before they landed on the two of them, Ben taking a moment to take in the sirens appearance, a shiver running through his body as he realized how in over his head he was. He gripped the knife tightly in his hand before swimming carefully to where the two were, making sure to not make too many movements or noises, as he came up behind the two, he let his knife swing out, feeling it collide with the siren, not stabbing him, no Ben wasn't quick enough for that, but enough to make a pretty large gash along his side. Waiting for the siren to let go of the boy for even just a moment so he could get them both to safety. @MJ-3PO🤖

By the time that had now passed, the boy was now struggling with air, but felt too captivated to fight any longer. The siren watched him start ringing for air in amusement, a mischevous grin curling along his lips as his claws grazed over the humans body, almost positioned perfectly on that boy's chest. He would've ripped that boy's heart out if it hadn't been for the impact on the water besides them. The siren whipped his head around only to see that human lunge towards him, that dagger gleaming within the small amount of light. Axenus let out an ear bleeding scream as the pain shot through his side. The wound was deep, making him let go of the boy who now went for the surface. With his tail whipping through the water around him, it took a quick moment until the siren focused on that new human, that human that managed to hurt him. His clawed hand shot forward, closing tight around the humans throat. A low guttural growl rumbled in the sirens throat as his fierce ocean blue stare met that of this foolish human whose fate had been sealed. Another woosh soared through the water, the harpune being too fast for the siren to react. With another painful impact, the metal tip buried itself in the sirens shoulder, forcing him to let go of this other human. With another blood curdling screach, Axenus gave the human a last hateful glare as his grip snapped the wood of the harpune in Two. With only a few powerful thrusts of his tail, the siren vanished wounded, back into the depths as most of them supposed, but it wouldn't take long for the Two to meet again... @Eli

Ben winced at the scream the siren let out, his ears ringing a bit from the sheer volume of it. His eyes followed the crew member as they finally made a break for the surface, now that was taken care of he had to just rely on the rest of his crew to make sure he didn't suffer the fate he had just saved the man from. He let out a small grunt as the sirens hand made its way around his throat, though, he kept his gaze locked on the sirens, not an ounce of fear in his eyes. He had fought enough with his crew that he knew they would pull through, it was just a matter of when. Soon his thoughts of when it would happen were answered, his heart filling with pride of how good of a shot his men were. Despite the scream being sure to give Ben a pounding headache, he gave the siren a triumphant smirk before he turned away. Once the siren was out of sight Ben made a break for the surface. He breached the surface of the water, taking in a much needed inhale of the air. Calling his men over to help him back up. Ben stood on the boat as they helped him up, taking in some sharp inhales of air his relief to be alive was cut short as his gaze landed on the sailor that went overboard, he couldn't tell if he was meant to be relieved one of his men was alive, or angry that they hadn't listened to his instructions and it almost got both of them killed. He figured the former was the best option, walking over to him to make sure he was okay. “Follow that siren” he directed to one of his men. “And you two go to the lookout point, don't take your eyes off the trail” Ben was in full captain mode now, something his crew never saw unless they were going into a fight, which they very well could be. He watched as his men brought the anchor up, a smirk coming over his face. “We have a siren to catch” he whispered to himself. @MJ-3PO🤖
