ROLEPLAY HQ - surprise

Sebastian had just gotten out of his apartment as he was waiting for his Uber to show up.. It was a weekend night even if it was Sunday and he was hoping to catch up with his friend who had come into the city for a night. He was confident as he got into the taxi and made it to the agreed upon pub where they would meet. And once he reached the venue he would feel his phone vibrate as he read the message that his friend wouldn't be able to make it.. It felt like a shame but he had gotten dressed up and it was still early as he'd check his smart watch, it was only 5:45 and he felt certain that he could enjoy a couple of beers or a whiskey if he really felt the urge to and call it an early night.. At his age, he didn't have trouble meeting women, nor did he lack the confidence to make an approach but tonight, he really wasn't expecting anything at all being the end of weekend.. And so he'd settle into the bar seat as he would start with a beer and watch the game that was running on the TV. He would take a picture of himself on that bar by himself and send it to his friend saying how he was stood up by him.. And he finished his beer, chatting to the bartender a little bit about some of the liquors they had learning a few new things about the bar stock before he finally saw her come up beside him to the bar..

Soyeon was nervous. She paced the cold tile floor of her kitchen, with her cell phone clutched in her hand. The tv with a monotonous show hummed in the background. Her best friend and roommate was bringing her to a local bar - with the intention of Soyeon meeting someone. ’You need to put yourself out there!’, her friend would say. ‘Have a little fun sometime.’ At that time, however, she had no interest. Clubbing and social bars were never at the top of her to-do list. She scanned the hallway for her shoes that she decided to wear with her outfit of choice and reached for her purse before leaving. The door clicked shut and locked. Upon her arrival at the bar, just after 6:00 pm, Soyeon saw her friend waving from a tabletop seat from a distance. She hesitantly smiled and shuffled across the room. She sat across the table and ordered her first drink of the evening. An espresso martini. There was a man seated right beside them who appeared to be alone. “I’m sorry I’m late,” she apologized to the friend. “I’m so tired today.”

He would watch the young Asian woman come towards the next table.. and instantly he would catch her big, attractive, almond shaped eyes and oversized top that hugged around her frame.. She looked comfy just as he saw her.. And that thought made him smile but he couldn't take his away off of her.. But as she got comfortable into the seat of the table beside him, he'd respectfully stop staring and turn his attention to the TV screen.. The game was not one of his interests and he found himself pulling out his mobile, just as he'd see a new message.. it was his friend, Derek. Hey Seb, I'm sorry I couldn't make it but maybe you would want to meet her tonight instead? She's in the pub with you and she's your blind date.. As he saw the picture, it was a picture of her, a picture that surely her friend had just taken because it was exactly what she was wearing.. He was a little taken aback but by this as he would hear the conversation taking place on the next table.. Her friend was clearly showing her his picture, the selfie he had taken earlier as he would gently rise up from the chair and interrupt the conversation and meet those beautiful eyes and say, "Hi beautiful, looks like our friends have decided to set us up on a date.. I think you're very pretty and I just wanted to say that I would love to show you a good time tonight, if you'd be interested.." He smiled with a sense of excitement since he had not been dating of late and since they had mutual friends, it was probably going to be a little safer for them both.. And for him personally, there was nothing to lose.. maybe he'd make a friend, he would hope..

A bartender from behind the counter walked around and placed two drinks on the table in front of the ladies. Soyeon smiled and thanked them politely, and raised her glass for a taste. It was ice cold and sweet. She glanced to the television to see what had been playing. As the stranger rose from his seat and started to speak she froze. What was happening? Her friend had a beaming smile and a knowing expression. This had been a set up. “Oh, I’m flattered..” Soyeon felt her cheeks heat up with embarrassment. It was difficult for her to appear confident in that moment. “You’re very handsome.” “Go on, take my seat!” Her friend exclaimed, stood up excitedly and offered the man a chair at their table. “You two have fun. I’ll leave you to it.” It had been quite a long time since she had been on any sort of date. Many months. Of course, they would set her up- if she knew of this before there was a chance she wouldn’t have wanted to show up. She would accept this anyway and see what would happen. She didn’t have anything to lose, right? She adjusted the collar of her top and sipped more of her martini. She looked expectantly to him for an introduction. @SebbyXBoo

It had taken a degree of confidence for him to get out of his seat and actually take the step forward.. maybe it came from the fact that he knew his friend very well and for whatever reason he had decided to hook him up with the girl, it must have taken his friend some level of belief that they would be a good match together.. But as he stood there with a smile, he would notice her cheeks start to turn red which made him smile even wider but when she would call him handsome, it really boosted his confidence even more.. It was probably the reason why he didn't feel shy to accept the seat that her friend would offer him.. He would watch her friend walk away after her words as he would return his dark brown orbs into her big doe like eyes.. They were finally alone and he saw her sipping on her martini as he would take the seat and get comfortable. One elbow on the table he would extend his hand towards, palm facing upward as he would say, "I'm Seb, and well because our friends set us up, I'm guessing you don't mind that I'm 31.." He would smile as he would try and make out her age, she honestly didn't look a day over 21.. Her skin seemed youthful without any sign of forehead lines or wrinkles around her eyes, since he had just noticed some forehead lines on his face earlier today.. But trying to take a daring guess he would say, "I mean surely you're legal right? Otherwise you wouldn't be here, so I'm guessing maybe you're younger.. can I guess, 21, perhaps?" He'd say with a slight compliment to his question as he would feel her touch come to his hand and he would take her smaller hand in his larger grip.. He didn't really care for a handshake and so once her hand rested in his he would bring it up to his lips, with a smile, that he generally used to get out of trouble when he was younger.. He hoped that she wouldn't mind it when he would peck the back of her hand while his eyes would remain with hers as she introduced herself in return..

Soyeon was at a loss for words. Where did her friend find this man, to set her up with? What she expected to be a polite handshake as she extended the offer, she watched as he cautiously pecked the back of her hand. “That’s very nice of you, but I can assure you I’m not 21. I’m 26,” She gently let go of his hand and stirred the small plastic straw in her drink as an anxious habit. It certainly didn’t bother her that he was 31. She had finished her drink and ordered another, this time a whiskey&coke. It arrived shortly after in a glass with ice. Soyeon decided then to tell the man a bit about herself- she may as well, because they had never met before. “So, I have two brothers. They’re both older. One lives alone and the other is married,” she explained, “My father is retired but my mother still works. She has a business- a café. He helps her sometimes, though.. and I work for her.” @SebbyXBoo

A soft smile would form on his features as he'd watch her pull away that hand after he had kissed it.. He knew that had been a very forward move but it was hardly something that he would want to waste as an opportunity.. But as she replied back with her age, he would smirk as the brown hues of his eyes met with the softer ones of hers.. as he would briefly remark to say, "Well, age is just a number and you look cute and yet stunning no matter what number is against it.." He would watch as she would place another drink order and he would finish up his own beer and decided to match her drink and ordered himself a whiskey, the only difference was that he would have it on the rocks.. The short gap before the drinks would arrive his eyes would search for hers and playfully connect with those big almond shaped eyes which made him smile almost instantly.. But then once the drinks were placed before them, he would gently clink her glass with his and he'd hear her speak about family.. And that partially won him over right away.. He hesitated just a little bit as he brought the glass to his lips but his eyes would always remain with hers as he would smile once again as the glass was brought down.. this smile was a much weaker one as she'd learn why.. "I love that.. I actually had a pretty rough childhood.. An abusive father, raised by a single mother and two elder step brothers who hated me for ever being born, I guess.. It wasn't easy.. And I'm only ever in touch with my mother.." The eyes that had dared to look at her so attentively all night would sink a bit as he wondered if that aspect.. of a lack of family would make him a little less attractive.. But he would try and change the subject to something else as he would say.. "But a cafe sounds really nice.. I have always loved cooking and I mean I'd love to drop by, if you'd want me to.." @peachbunny_

Soyeon was delighted to be there. She began to relax the more conversation there was, breaking up the awkward tension in the air. Maybe this wasn’t such a bad idea, after all. He was very handsome too. She listened as he explained his past, and her smile faded. “I’m very sorry,” Soyeon replied quietly. “That is horrible.. I hope you were able to get away from that.” In her mind, family did not need to mean relation by blood- Soyeon believed family could also be your closest friends who cherish each other. She was fortunate to have contact with each of them in her home, but her father and oldest brother were cold. They did not care to hear her interests or hobbies. Her mother was the one who introduced her to the art of baking when she was young and it stuck with her ever since. She was happy with it. “Of course you can come by,” she nodded, “Whenever you can. I bake for them.” Something about opening up felt natural. She was unbothered. @SebbyXBoo

He worries just a bit when she started to apologise.. He didn't want to dampen the mood as he lowered his eyes only for a moment as he traveled his glass to his lips.. He didn't know how to face these moments when people apologized.. He had obviously heard it before and most of the times it didn't really seem like a thing that he had to hide from because obviously he just happened to be there when something has happened.. But also when she said that she hoped that he managed to get out of it.. His eyes would come back and he found a smile return to his lips because that genuinely felt nice to hear.. And that moment only got better as he felt himself smiling even wider as he would hear that she would want him to come by.. whenever he could.. And he wondered if that meant like an indication that she would want him to ask her out for a other date.. But it was rather early into their current one, that being the only reason that stopped him from asking about that as he would rest his hand onto the table .. facing up again as he would say, "I did get away from that and I think things turned out rather well for me.. And by the way, if it's not to awkward to ask.. you know I really liked that touch of your hand.. and now that I know what it does all day, think you want to give me your hand, beautiful? So that I could maybe massage it a little? Or at the very least give you something nice and warm to touch?" He would make his request known to her with a smile on his rugged face as he waited for her to respond.. but before she could hear phone would ping and he wondered if she was going to see who was messaging her.. wondering who it could be..

The bartender stepped around the table and dropped off two glasses of water before disappearing again. As the evening carried on, more people began to fill up the bar area around them. The sounds of chatter were prominent. Soyeon had hoped she didn’t dampen the conversation by making it awkward- it wasn’t her intention. She began to think about the offer to visit her cafe. Her parents might be there. Surely she would have to introduce someone who began to talk to her. That would be too soon. She needed to be certain they were going to be home.. and she wanted to have freshly baked treats ready upon his arrival. It would look impressive. She nodded and carefully reached out her hand to offer. Her phone buzzed with a notification sound and Soyeon pretended to ignore it. It was more than likely the friend who let them be, wondering how the night was going. It would have been rude to answer it. “So.. tell me, do you live alone? With a friend, maybe?” She was hoping it wouldn’t be any pressure to answer questions. She wasn’t quite sure what was appropriate to ask. @SebbyXBoo

He would smile the second that her soft touch rested on his large grip, he would use his thumb to graze over her skin, since he had promised a massage.. And he smiled as their hands touched again, almost making the noise of the chatter around them fade away as he heard her question.. the smile widening instantly as he'd reply without hesitation.. "I actually bought me own apartment very recently.. I'm just waiting for the keys and the official thing.. But currently, I'm renting not too far from here, a single bedroom apartment, with a kitchen and a bathtub.. but definitely single.." His eyes had only glanced down onto her smooth her skin felt and the slight contrast of how his skin looked a little darker to hers.. But it didn't escape his attention how well she kept her nails. Her fingers a little shorter to his as he laced their fingers together, just to see how they'd fit.. But his eyes would return back to hers quickly after as he'd add, "I work for a medical company by the way, since I never told you.. I don't get weekends off.. which I'm guessing may be the case for you in the cafe as well? You know just asking in case we do decide to see each other again.. and what date that should be.. What are my chances right now.." He'd ask a little expectantly as his elbows rested on the table and he'd lean in a little taking his glass back into his grip to bring his whiskey into his mouth.. He could feel a little buzz starting and seeing that his glass.. and hers were coming to an end, he'd wait to see if she'd want another refill as he called the server over but bright his eyes back to her, in order to ask, "Another round, beautiful? Or should we take it easy?"
