He didn't stop her from leaving, knowing that he couldn't. Not in his current state, that is. It was better for the both of them if he just had some time, and the space, to himself, so that he could think. He spent the rest of the day lost in his own mind, his body going through the simple motions. Cook. Clean. Exercise. Train. It wasn't like there was much for him to really do, after all.. His life was simple, and that's how he preferred it.
As Lanis sat with a plate of food in front of him, venison, bread, and some greens.. He couldn't help but wonder if he wanted more. If, deep down, he wanted to leave this life behind. He had spent his entire life here, rarely ever leaving the forest.. He grew up here, experienced everything here.. Saw his mother die, had someone like Vyxia arrive.. But had also experienced great pain and loneliness, thanks to his refusal to leave. It was both his greatest blessing, and his greatest curse. There was so much he didn't know about the world, and it was all because he never left..
But would it really be safe for him to leave? Bandits would trash his home the moment he left, as they had tried throughout his entire life.. Should he ever try to return, there'd be nothing left but an empty husk that only barely felt like home. It'd be the building in which he grew up, but it wouldn't be home..
But maybe he needed to leave it behind. Let go of the past, and the pain with it..
Silently, Lanis stood up and grabbed a bag from the wall and disappeared into his room.
Vyxia had not returned yet.. Which was strange, since she said she wasn't leaving.. But maybe she had lied. Just like his father had to his mother, all those years ago. Maybe she never truly cared, and it was all just a facade. An act to lure him in, so that she could kill him later. A quiet sigh escaped his lips as his shoulders slumped slightly. It had been too good to be true, it seemed.. Or perhaps he drove her away. That was certainly a possibility as well..
