The creature stopped a few feet from Viessa, standing amid the dark forest, their face shadowed and blurred within the night. They made eye contact with Theo, who didn’t move a muscle. That would be against their rules. Cautiously, the creature approached Theo, rounding the side of Brandy, and stood directly in front of him.
Now close enough to see, the features of this being were easy to make out. Pale skin dusted with a shimmer of moonlight, red eyes, sunken cheekbones, thin lips with a trace of ruby on the outline, slender hands that rose slowly into the air as if touching the energy around Theo, waving one of their hands in front of his face.
They wore a long, green, velvet robe that stopped just above their knees. Their feet were fitted into a pair of brown boots with tan pants. And when they pulled their oversized hood off their head, several locks of white hair fell around their boney shoulders, revealing a pair of elvish ears.
“You’re not supposed to be here, Sent One,” hissed the creature. Their name was Drakona, and they were assigned to keep watch of the forest for trespassers.
“Then it can easily be assumed I am here for a good reason,” Theo replied dryly. His hazel eyes bore down into the petite figure challenging him. He was careful not to insult her further. Though small, Theo knew at any moment, Drakona could draw their bow, take aim, and end Viessa’s life.
“Tell me why you’re here and why I should let her live,” Drakona shifted their stance and looked at Viessa with cold, rust-colored eyes. But, the moment they spotted Viessa’s pointed ears, their gaze instantly changed. She spun around to face Theo with disturbing confusion.
“She is elvish,” Drakona gathered.
“Yes…” Theo replied quietly, his attention also on Viessa.
“Get off the horse and stand on your feet before me, girl,” and Drakona waved her hand in front of Brandy, forcing the horse to become startled and kick up on its back legs - Drakona’s intention was to throw Viessa to the gr
