TW: TBD, possible NSFW Olivia was so excited for this date. It had been a long time since she had been out, and she felt like going on a date would be fun, even if things didn't last long. She spent her early evening getting ready to meet up with the guy for dinner, making sure she looked nice enough to go to a restaurant. Nothing fancy, but she wore a cute top with some jeans, and dressed it up with some heels. When she got there though...this guy wouldn't stop talking about himself, and how all of his other exes were just crazy...that kinda told her that maybe he was the crazy one. Olivia waited for a break in the conversation for her to excuse herself to the bathroom, and then she hurriedly texted her best friend. Tom...get me the fuck out of here. I'm dropping you my location, please for the love of fuck pick me up. This dude is a walking red flag and I gotta go. After she sent the text, she walked out of the bathroom and up to their table, looking to her date. "Hey, um...I apparently got a text like fifteen minutes ago, something happened with my mom and I really need to get out of here. Don't worry, I have a ride coming already, it's kind of an emergency so I gotta go like now. But thank you, maybe we can rain check?" She said this knowing damn well she was going to ghost his ass. A bad move, probably, but fuck this. Afterward, she sped walked to outside and into the parking lot, away from the doors to the side of the building. Waiting for her friend to show up soon, hoping this date wouldn't follow her outside. Of course she made the mistake to not drive herself here... @DaveDM

Tom walked out of the studio, running his fingers through his messy brown locks, as he shook off the day he had on set, running errands through a grueling five setup day. Five whole commercials shot in a single day. Must be a studio record. He shook his head. But then his phone chimed with Olivia's signature beeps. Phone in one hand and helmet in the other, he shuffled over toward his motorcycle in the parking lot. "Huh," he said to himself, then poked the map when her location ping came through. Okay. Five minutes away. He pulled his helmet on, checked to make sure he had his spare, then got on the bike and started it up. His old green Kawasaki Ninja roared to life and he wheeled out of the lot and onto a side street. His phone sat in a wobbly, aftermarket phone mount, guiding him to the restaurant Olivia had pinged him from. As he approached, he grinned to himself, thinking of all the shit he'd give her for ending up on another loser date. Not that he had much better luck. He'd been on a bad streak of blondes looking for guys with real jobs, thinking "production assistant" meant some kind of sidekick to a factory manager, not a gopher for a local commercial studio. He'd have to fix his Tinder bio, for sure. And probably help Olivia fix hers if she'd swiped right on a guy with so many red flags. He spotted her in the lot from block away. They'd known each other so long he'd recognize her silhouette on a moonless night in the woods. She was dressed pretty tight, which made him feel like he was a little shabby in his jeans, t-shirt and Vans sneakers. But hell, he wasn't dating her, right? Just rescuing her from a bad one. He pulled up and just set his left leg down, not even bothering with the kickstand. "Get your helmet on and let's go," he said, grinning at her. "Can't wait around and see if he comes chasing after you, right?" @lonidalegend

Olivia exhaled in relief when he said he would be on his way. Thank god. She would make sure she was out of sight from any windows in the restaurant, leaning against a pillar until her friend came. She would see him on his bike approaching, it was pretty easy to spot him in a crowd. Maybe she just knew him that well at this point. But regardless, when he pulled up, she hurried over and pulled her helmet on. She hiked up her dress just enough so that she could get on the bike comfortably, before climbing on. Olivia wrapped her arms around him tightly, preparing for him to speed off. "I don't care what happens, just get me outta here! It's bad." And like as if on cue, her date started to walk out, he had spotted her. He spoke out. "Hey! Olivia!? Who is that dude? What are ya doin?!" @DaveDM

Tom chuckled behind his visor, looking at the dude without turning his head. As soon as he felt Olivia's arms around him, he twisted the throttle and sped off, thankful that the parking lot was clear enough for a speedy getaway without dodging any cars backing out or drunken pedestrians. He considered flipping the guy off as he went by, but gave it a pass. He was already winning, even if he wasn't going to get what bro had hoped to get at the end of the night. As he got up to speed out on the street, talking was almost impossible, so it was a few minutes before they got to the first stoplight. He turned his head, flipping up his visor to smile at her. "My place? I got some stuff to drink and we can make fun of people on dating shows. That always cheers me up after a bum date." The light turned before he got his answer, so he flipped his visor down again and sped off, the motorcycle's engine whining in that crotch rocket sort of way. She would have to shout her answer over the noise and the wind. But since they didn't live far apart, he just headed for his place. Easier to park his bike there and he could walk her to her own door if that's what she wanted. And probably tease her about her taste in men along the way. @lonidalegend

Olivia loved the feeling of them zipping off on the bike, she always enjoyed bike rides with him. But this somehow felt even better knowing that she was escaping a bad date, she would just have to block him when she could. She listened to Tom as he suggested his place, but before she could answer properly, the light flickered back to green. Tom sped off and she sighed beneath her helmet, she assumed he was going to either bring her to his place, or to hers. Either way, she was going to end up at his, to spend some time with him and recover from the shit date. When they arrived at his place, she waited for him to park safely and turn everything off before climbing off carefully. She would fix her dress, pulling it back down a little before pulling off her helmet, fixing her hair with a brief jostle. "Thanks again. And yeah, we can hang here it's fine. Oh." She pulled out her phone and unlocked it, of course she had various mean texts and missed calls from the date. Olivia sighed and just ghosted him, blocking him and deleting the conversation. Was that mean? Yeah. But...well. Don't be a shitty person? "Aaaaaand blocked. Hopefully he's not some kind of stalker freak...eh, he does know where I live. I kinda made that mistake of letting him pick me up..." @DaveDM

"Ooof, yeah, that was not the smoothest move, mastermind," he said, grinning. He loved to tease he with how smart she was, and how... not smart she could be about things sometimes, at least in his eyes. "Mastermind" had become his pet name for her, that way. "But hey, what are friends for, but to bail you out of smooth moves?" He locked the spare helmet into the little compartment under the seat that he just called the "junk." Putting his arm around her shoulder, he guided her to the front door of his building and unlocked it, then checked the street before closing it behind him. No sign of stalkers here, at least. "You should probably text your roommate to be on the lookout for Mister Red Flags. Don't want you strolling home if he's camped out on your doorstep, know what I mean?" He stomped up the stairs as he spoke, taking in the aroma of Mrs. Patel's curry simmering down the hall. Thank goodness his building smelled of that, not like the mildewy weirdness of his last place. He unlocked the door to his place and ushered Olivia inside, before closing it behind them and putting the chain on. He headed to his bedroom with his stuff. "Put on whatever you want, and we'll figure out some grub, okay?" @lonidalegend

Olivia rolled her eyes and laughed at his nickname for her. It was never old, and he knew it was on good nature. "I know it was a bad idea...I should've just listened to myself." She sighed and then walked in with him, her heart did jump a little as he put his arm around her shoulder. Unsure why...but...huh. Okay. At the mentions of her texting her roommate, she nodded. "Ah! Good call." She then pulled out her phone and started to text her roommate, as they walked up the stairs. "Yeah I uh...I don't wanna have to call the police if he stalks my home. And I don't want her to be involved like that either, it's not her fault I was stupid." She then sent the text, looking up as she was ushered into his apartment. Olivia exhaled in relief once inside with the door shut behind them. "Alright, thank you again. I'll just be a sec." She made her way to his bedroom relatively quickly, she knew where it was and where like...everything was in his apartment, really. Olivia opened his bedroom door and started sifting through clothes until she found one of her favorite pairs of sweats, even though they were his they somehow fit her very well. After tightening the drawstrings, that is. And then she found one of his shirts, a little baggy on her but it worked. She changed into that and set the clothes aside in a pile so that she could just grab them or change back tomorrow. Olivia headed back out once she was done. Perched on the edge of the couch, Tom scrolled through Grubhub on his phone, the remote for the TV in his other hand, idly flipping between the icons for Netflix and Hulu on the screen. There were a few other apps there as well, though those were his two mainstays right now. He looked up as she came out of his bedroom, wearing his clothes. He grinned at her. Why did she look so much cuter dressed like that than in the "date night" clothes she had been wearing? "I don't know," he said, his eyes lingering on her for a bit longer than they should have, maybe. Slowly he looks back to his phone, flicking through the list of restaurants. "Uh, let's see. Thai, burgers, the Greek diner, Chinese, or that new Tapas place that just opened up. I'm leaning more toward Thai, but I could eat anything right now." He patted the open spot on the sofa next to him, then leaned back and put his feet up on the coffee table, tucking his chin down into his chest. "Did your roommate respond? She's not already being held hostage by Mister Red Flags, is she?" @lonidalegend

Olivia almost felt like her heart jumped up into her throat for a moment. Why was it that when he looked at her just now, it gave her butterflies? What was happening to her? She folded her arms as she contemplated food options, they all sounded pretty good, but she was a little pickier then he was, sadly. "Hrm...what do you think I'd like? I don't think I'm in the mood for anything new, I want something comforting, you know?" Olivia sighed, and then plopped down on the couch after he patted the spot beside him. When Tom asked about her roommates response, she gasped and then opened her phone again. She did have a text back, and she sighed in relief. "Phew, okay. Sounds like there's been no sign of him, but she did say she's gonna lock the door up and close all blinds just in case. Shit, hopefully her boyfriend is there right now too. I don't want her to be alone." She hummed for a moment before she opened her messages with the mentioned man, and texted him just that suggestion. @Dave Fury, Agent of SHIELD

"Yeah, yeah that makes sense," he said and smiled over at her. He found her looking at him in an odd sort of way and it practically melted his heart. An impulse welled up within him to wrap her in his arms just then, but he set that feeling aside, at least for the moment. But he could feel it lurking there in his chest. "So... uh, maybe just pizza, then? I think I have your ordere favorited." He flipped over to the pizza place's dedicated app and scrolled through his saved orders. Right there on top was 'Me & Mastermind.' Without even thinking about it, he added it to the cart, paid for it, and set his phone down. "There we go. 30-45 minutes." He smiled at her then straightened up a little and half-turned to her. She looked so cute, so vulnerable there in his clothes, perched on his sofa. Must have just been the act of rescuing her, he thought. It riled up some weird hormones in him or something. It would pass and they would be back to snarking at each other in no time. So he just smiled again. "So, uh, what else have you been up to? Haven't talked to you since the other night." @lonidalegend

She smiled as he ordered pizza, relaxing on the couch as he did this. It was nice, being able to say and feel comfortable here in his apartment with him. She knew that she could always come by, and has, whenever she needed to. She was there for him, and vice versa. "Awesome. Thank you, I'll pay you back for that, I promise." Olivia always insisted on this, even if he literally didn't let her. Deep down, she never got to have that princess treatment she dreamed of, and figured it was unobtainable. When he spoke to her again, she hummed and furrowed her brows. "Ah...been having some art block lately...I keep trying to start this piece I have in mind but I can't seem to get it out. It's weird, like I see it in my head but I can't get it on canvas like usual. It's been so frustrating." She sighed, shaking her head. "What about you? What's been going on?" @Dave Fury, Agent of SHIELD

"Ah, art block sucks," he said, leaning back, looking over at her. Something about her tonight, just made him want to keep looking at her. Not that Olivia was hard to look at, it was just... they'd always just been friends. He'd been in a long-term thing when they met, and even after that ended last year, the thought of friendship becoming something else literally hadn't occured to him. He'd had a rebound thing, which ended as it should have, and now... He shook it off. "Did you try just doing some bullshit warmup stuff. Paint a bunch of daises or some shit, then try again? It always worked for me when I was working on screenplays for one of my film classes. Could never get the idea out, so I'd just write some dopey sitcom stuff for an hour or two, then when I got back to what I really wanted to do it was easier to get to," he said. "As for me lately... work has been work. I'm getting out of the 'fetching coffee' phase of being a production assistant and into actually being entrusted with some stuff. It's been a lot of commercials, though. They say we're supposed to be getting a feature to work on soon, but I'm not holding my breath." @lonidalegend

"It does! It kills the vibe, all the time." She laughed, shaking her head. She didn't seem to notice if he looked at her a certain way, or looked longer then he maybe should. Olivia just seemed riled up in being stumped in her art, which...happens more often then she'd like to admit. "Eh, I mean...I doodled a bit. Uhm...that didn't seem to work well. Maybe I could try some random stuff like flowers, yeah." Olivia hummed in thought, shrugging and then looking to him after. Something about him though...maybe it was just her mind messing with her. She needed to...get out of it. But...kinda didn't want to. "...Hey! That's good! That's like, an unofficial promotion. You're moving up!" Olivia grinned, playfully reaching over to ruffle his hair. "Yeah, something like that," he said with a bit of a blush, wondering where that bashful feeling came from. She didn't really compliment him like that that often. He knew she was happy for him when things went well for him, in little ways, but it was rare that she was that overt about it. So it felt good to hear that from her. Which did make him think about how much he actually did the same for her in reverse. He looked over at her, seeing a light in her eyes that he didn't often see. And hadn't ever seen when looking only at him. "I'm sure even your doodles are pretty amazing," he said, looking her in the eye, unconsciously licking his lips a little. He blushed again and looked away. "Your art is really great, and I'm sorry if I don't tell you that enough. It's just, like, usually I figure you just know how good you are, but maybe not." He laughed a bit, and looked back up to her face. "I feel silly saying that." @lonidalegend

Olivia smiled weakly at him and then playfully punched his shoulder. For some reason, this felt awkward but in such a new way...were they coming to their senses about things? Their feelings? She wasn't sure...it was so...different. When he complimented her art, she felt a lump in her throat. Not the kind that you feel when you're about to cry, but the kind when you're nervous to talk. She cleared her throat and took a deep breath before responding. "Thank you...I...I don't really hear that, that much. There's always critique...what to do better, you know?.." Olivia gave him a small smile after that, shrugging. "And it's not silly, you're speaking your truth. Nothing wrong with that..." Her sentence trailed off, like she was cutting herself off almost. When their eyes met she broke it almost immediately. What was she doing? Her brain was scrambled, she couldn't get her thoughts together all of a sudden...and then there was that weird pause in the air. An awkward moment. What now. @Dave Fury, Agent of SHIELD

Indeed, there it was, the awkward pause before... something. What something? The way she responded, it was different than usual. Something in her voice, her posture. He couldn't tell. Things were always so playful-prickly between them, two good friends throwing little jabs, but only because each of them could take it, like sparring partners in a boxing ring or something. Honing their wit, their comebacks, even their...flirting? But now the energy was different. There was no sparring, no quick jabs, not even flirting, as such. Only... care. Concern. Something way more deep and genuine. Tom started to panic a little at the awkwardness. He wasn't used to this. But there was... there was a thing to do, and he couldn't be sure, but... it was the kind of thing you were never sure about, right, you just had to-- He grabbed her by the shoulders, leaned in, and kissed her on the mouth. Not hard, not in a real panicky way, but in a way he wanted to savor. She was gorgeous, and soft, and smelled nice and... he broke the kiss. "Oh my god," he gasped, looking in her eyes, his hands still on her shoulders. "I... I'm sorry... I..." @lonidalegend

Olivia was surprised, a soft exclaim came from her right before they kissed. It was...well, surprising. But...in that kiss, he could likely feel that she kissed him back. It was reciprocated after a moment of shock. Olivia...maybe even liked it? When he broke it, he apologized to her deeply. She could see that he maybe was afraid of the fact that this ruined their friendship. Her eyes gazed into his for a second, a small smile across her lips. Nothing could ruin them. Olivia leaned back in and gently cupped the side of his face, pressing her lips against his in response. He didn't need to be sorry. If anything, she needed that. Especially from him. What it meant, she wasn't sure right now. But it felt right, and that was what mattered the most to her. @Dave Fury, Agent of SHIELD

Tom felt equal surprise at her soft touch on his face, then the press of her lips against his. An instinct that made him tense up quickly washed away, and he relaxed into the kiss. He even maybe sighed a little into it. One hand now cupped Olivia's face, the other slipping around her back, pulling them a little closer together. Past the initial awkwardness, surprise, shock, he found something else. Something good, familiar-but-new, exciting-but-safe, somehow. He leaned more into the kiss, parting his lips, wanting to taste her, even just a little. How had he not noticed this, this attraction, these feelings? They'd always been there, he realized, just... neglected, or misunderstood, or just not properly encouraged and given room to grow. But now it felt like it was growing rapidly to make up for lost time, a feeling in his chest blossoming from simple infatuation into something else. @lonidalegend

Olivia felt her face redden as he pulled them closer. Her heart started to beat faster, her excitement grew. She was seriously kissing her best friend, and it didn't feel terrible whatsoever. The opposite, actually...it felt great. She let him taste her just a little, before she closed it off with a sweet end, and reluctantly pulled back. Olivia caught her breath and looked up at him, her mind that couldn't gather a thought was now racing. "I...ah..." She blinked a few times and gulped, gently letting her hand from his face be removed. But she didn't move away from him. No, being this close was very safe feeling, comfortable even. Olivia liked it. "Ah...should...we talk about it?" She asked with a faint chuckle, raising her hand to tuck some hair behind her ear. Olivia didn't want any awkward air about this between them...that would just create a wedge in their friendship that she wouldn't enjoy. But she knew she felt something deeper...maybe now was time? @Dave Fury, Agent of SHIELD

Tom couldn't hide some disappointment at the end of the kiss, missing her lips against his already. But when she spoke he knew she was right. They couldn't just leap into this without talking about it first. He swallowed hard and nodded, trying to figure out what to say to start. "I, um..." he said, stammered, and started again. "I... I don't know... where these feelings are coming from. But.. I... I've suddenly caught some feelings really hard for you." He swallowed, looking at her, looking into her eyes. How had he not noticed before how pretty they were? Then tell her, dummy! a voice said, his own voice, in the back of his mind. "You... you have really pretty eyes. I know I haven't said it before, but I've always noticed. And you're kind, and creative, and funny, and... and it's weird to say about this, but you're a good friend. And I don't think that would change, if... if we... you know. Started... um... started dating. You'd still be a good friend and I think... I think that's good, right?" he said, then laughed a little at his own awkwardness. This was not how he saw his Friday going and yet... this was so much better. @lonidalegend

Olivia couldn't help but giggle a little at his stammering. She didn't realize that this made him that nervous. But in truth, her giggles was just her being nervous as well. It was so new, and scary. When he admitted feelings, she looked to him with a softly raised brow, surprised almost. She looked back into his eyes with a welcoming smile, admiring his own. At the compliments he dished out, added with the possibility of them dating, she couldn't stop those nerves from before building up. Now she stammered. "I...ah, uhm...well. I- hope that I can still be a good friend, if that happened, yeah..." She looked away, taking a few deep breaths to calm herself. "I just...is that a step we should take? A risk? The closeness, the kiss, the feelings... it all felt so right, and he'd kick himself for the rest of his life if he didn't say something now, expressed how he felt. "I don't think we could ruin it, Olivia," he said, softly, working each word out slowly so as not to stammer. "I think we were always meant to be friends and to be... to be more. At least that's how it feels to me, and how it has felt to me for a while. I just... I just don't think I recognized what those feelings really meant, not until just now." He blushed, brightly, the color reaching his ears. "You're so... special. So amazing. So wonderful," he said. "I'll take it as slow as you want. Olivia then nodded, and looked to Tom again. "Okay. I...I know I've had some feelings in the past, but I thought it was silly. I thought, that...it couldn't be. An infatuation, even. Just going for it after that talk? Olivia looked conflicted, her brows furrowing for a second before she caught herself. Easy, Olivia...don't take this fast. She instead leaned to kiss his cheek. A soft, light peck, before sitting back in her spot. "Thank you, Tom. I appreciate you, seriously. You're a wonderful person, even with all the crap we give each other." "Yeah," he said. "You are too. Wonderful, I mean." He started to lean toward her a little, but then the buzzer rang. He really needed to get one of those remote things, but he didn't have one, so he had to hop up off the couch to go to the door. Not that he'd really expect the pizza guy to bring it right into the room while he and Olivia chilled on the sofa. That would be a little weird. So he waited at the door to the apartment and took the pizza from the guy who delivered it. He set the boxes on his counter, flipping them open and inhaling the savory scent of tomato sauce, mozzarella, garlic, and meat. He dished up some pizza and bread onto paper plates and brought them back to the sofa, settling in beside Olivia. Whatever energy there had been that felt like more kissing was imminent had dissipated, and hunger became the overriding concern for him for a moment. But it still felt good, and different, from any of the other times they'd enjoyed takeout together on his couch. "So what should we watch?" he asked, reminding himself not to talk with his mouth full. He had to make a good impression, after all. @lonidalegend

And digest everything. They really liked each other. She couldn't believe it was real. As Olivia was lost in her thoughts once more, she only really came to when Tom brought the pizza to her. She snapped out of it and accepted the plate, giving him a warm smile. "Thank you. This smells awesome." As he sat down and asked what they could watch, she pulled up a movie. "I was thinking this?" As much as he felt like they had hit on this really sure thing, he still felt like he could mess it up if he put too much pressure on. Even the joke about getting hard he was already starting to regret. But he had to let it slide for now, since the only thing worse would be preemptively over-apologizing for it. So he took a bite of pizza and did his best to smile at her. Without opening his mouth while chewing, because that would be gross. And then he took a moment to just chew and look in another direction, maybe pretending to look at the TV and the movie info displayed there. He needed to pull himself together. He could already feel himself going off the rails, and he'd only just realized how badly he'd caught feelings for Olivia. Just be yourself, dude! @lonidalegend

Olivia let out a laugh at his getting hard comment, and her face reddened. "Yeah yeah, let's watch." She grinned and started the movie before beginning to eat. The movie played on, it was full of laughs and them eating happily until they were full. At one point Olivia had even rested her head on his shoulder. As the movie came to a close, Olivia stood and stretched above herself, sighing after. "I think that was a good pick, did you like it too?" She smiled to him, it seemed like things were...'normal' again right now. @Dave Fury, Agent of SHIELD

"Great pick, as always," he said. "You've got great taste, for sure." He watched her stretch as she spoke, admiring her body, especially in his loose-fitting clothes. He smiled at her with a crooked little smile, eyes softening a little. It had been good, really good. He'd even found that he'd been able to switch off his professional brain for the duration, ignoring or just plain not noticing any goofs or bad camerawork or any of the other stuff he and his film school buddies and the other PAs at work would nitpick a movie to death about. He had just been... there, in the moment, enjoying some laughs with... well, his best friend who he had kissed. He'd leave it there for right now. "So what do you want to do now?" he asked, leaning back a little on the sofa. "Dessert? I think I've got some ice cream in the freezer." @lonidalegend
