It was an average Wednesday morning, the sounds of families going about their day in the neighborhood of Highland Acres. Large posh houses all looking similar in style and colors all neatly in rows around the cul-de-sac. Once upon a time this had been her dream, the white picket fence, children to call her own and a lovingly doting husband who took care of her wants and needs. Emerald green eyes hiding behind thick black rimmed sunglasses stared at a moving truck as it pulled into the house that had been vacant next to her own for the past year. Plump red lips pursed as two men in similar uniforms denoting they worked for a moving company began to go about their work.
Poppy Mclaughlin had paused at the driver side of her white Jaguar XF. She hadn’t heard through the grapevine that they were getting a new community member, but that was likely due to the fact that the past few months the wife of Johnathan Mclaughlin had been keeping to herself. She clicked her tongue and opened the door to her car before sliding in. After shutting her door, Poppy pulled out her phone and quickly texted the neighborhood gossip to simply ask who her new neighbor was going to be. It didn’t take long after she sent the text and as soon as she had buckled, she received the response.
