Odin came to her. It was a brief encounter. She'd spent a thousand years shepherding the souls of dead soldiers to the afterlife. And now, a new task. A new goal. A sorcerer had escaped from the depths of Hel. An old and cunning mind it had gotten into the body of someone, a hedge fund investor. And it was going to threaten Midgard. So, she was sent. And she was instructed to recruit a mortal to be her guide. The human world had changed so much since they had last walked on those lands. The fall was at once violent, chaotic and peaceful. Light and wind whipped at her body. Her spear trailed behind her. The ground rushed before her. But the light also held her tight. There was no sound. A peaceful muted sensation surrounded her as she hurtled down towards the ground. As fate and destiny rushed towards her in the shape of a road junction. A four way stop.
David was driving home from work. The early Autumn sun was just starting to hit the horizon as he pulled up towards the junction. His day had gone well for the most part. He'd been able to close out some deals. And life was looking good. He had a song he enjoyed playing as he tapped away at the steering wheel. He had no idea what was going on. Or how his whole life was about to change completely. That's when he saw what he was sure was a meteor streaming through the sky. He stopped at the lines and leaned forwards, staring ahead, his eyes wide. In his mind Chelyabinsk and the explosion that shattered windows. And now he was going to be under that?
"Oh fuck." He swore whole heartedly. But There wasn't an explosion. Instead the blinding light hit the ground. And suddenly there was patterned burned into the tarmac. The front of his own car was singed. And then there she was. Crouched in the middle of the pattern. He stepped out of the car, and just starred ahead. His eyes wide as he looked at the figure. "Who... what?" Was all he could stammer out. His blue eyes just looking at the figure
