Urnium Motto: Ut nunquam genti nostrae — may our nation never fall Anthem: Gentem Magnam — our great nation Capital: The Clouds Area: Unspecified landmass Unspecified body of water Population: 86,758,435 President: President Jacob Longhand Vice President: Vice President Mike Coin ══════════════════════════════════ (edited)
The Clouds (edited)
Capital City: Rex Situated in the southeastern part of the nation, The Clouds was the capital administrative area of Urnium. The President and the Vice President resided in the city of Rex. The people of the Clouds enjoyed a privilege people in the provinces did not; they did not have to transfer provinces to align their line of work and interests with their aptitude. None of the residents of the Clouds have to participate in military service, or participate in government-funded projects such as the immune projects. ══════════════════════════════════ (edited)
Province 1 (edited)
Electricity, power, coal Capital City: Copiam The province was located north of the Clouds. Using coal and hydroelectricity, they produced power for the Clouds. They did not supply power to all other provinces, as provinces far north such as 7 and 8 relied on nuclear power, and the other provinces produced their own electricity with Province 1’s coal supply and power technology. They were the Clouds’ most valued province due to their importance in the Capital, and the children of Province 1 who could prove their strength during their military service were often transferred to the Clouds to work until they retire. Not all provinces have the privilege to do so. There weren’t many wanderers who rebelled from Province 1, mostly due to the Clouds’ bias and treatment towards the province. People who rebelled were mostly ones who realized that the politicians in the Capital were using its people as experiments to eradicate the newly emerging diseases caused by the chemical weapons used during the Great War. ══════════════════════════════════ (edited)
Province 2
Technology, artificial intelligence, medicine Capital city: Ingenii Province 2 was located in the middle of nowhere, separated from other provinces, but landlocked, unlike Province 5 and 6, which was located by the sea. Its location was beneficial due to the fact that they did not have to face abrasions from the raising sea levels, in which a lot of provinces had to deal with. Valuing wit, intelligence, and vanity, the province only accepted children with almost perfect score at their aptitude test. Children of Province 2 also receive great treatment from the Clouds, as they’d be able to transfer and work in the Clouds until they are retired. Most people who live in Province 2 did not transfer to other provinces—they were comfortable with the facilities the Province provided for them. Their healthcare was best after the Clouds, considering the fact that they were the ones to educate doctors and produce drugs and medicine. ══════════════════════════════════
Province 3
Firearms, weaponry Capital city: Ignis Located in the warmer territory of Urnium, Province 3 supplied firearms and weaponry for the guards. It also supplied guards for the nation, training the nation’s best peacekeepers and presidential guards. They were known to be loyal to the Clouds, despite the fact that they were sometimes on the same page as the ‘forgottens’—the provinces that did not get much attention from the Clouds. Valuing physical strength, bravery, and chivalry, the province emphasized its values on physical ability. There was a rumor floating around that old people did not exist in Province 3 due to their ‘experiment policy’—most people surrender as test subjects, commit suicide, or wander outside the walls as a wanderer, waiting for their deaths, as a weak person did not have much use in Province 3. Despite its strict emphasize on strength, quite a lot of teens choose to join the Province, hoping they could be presidential guards or peacekeepers. Most people born into Province 3 did not transfer—if they did, they usually did to Province 1. ══════════════════════════════════
Province 4
Transportation, aerospace Capital city: Vectura Province 4 was located at the southern tip of the continent. The clouds above the province were an ashy grey, a result of the massive foundries that ran 24/7 in the province. Province 4 was bordered by water on two side, and they took advantage of this natural landscape by using the water from the seas to cool down the steel as it was cast. The residents of this province were earnest, hard working people who felt a tinge of resentment, being taken for granted. The trains and planes, sand crawlers and boats were essential to keep the nation moving smoothly; however, working in a foundry was not a glamorous position, and so they were looked down upon by those in the Clouds and the more elite provinces. Province 4 shared a border with province 3, and constant convoys crossed the border, bringing weapons across to be mounted onto attack vehicles. The two provinces were reliant on each others' services, and maintained an uneasy truce to allow their citizens to live in relative peace. ══════════════════════════════════
Province 5
Luxury goods, diamond mining Capital city: Gemmis Located in the west coast the continent, Province 5 was one of the richest out of all provinces. Its main industries were luxury goods and diamond mining; the Clouds valued them the most for their crafts. It was mostly rainy in where they were located, but the artificial magnetic dome protected them from the rain. Valuing vanity and ambition, nothing else mattered to the citizens of Province 5. Being a lonely province, the only one in the area, they stood on their own and did not need other provinces to survive. The living costs in Province 1 was extremely high, almost as expensive as living in the Clouds. Textile from Province 7 were sent to Province 5 to be decorated and made prettier, the same was for vehicles sent from Province 4 to Province 5. They were there to make high-ranking Urnian politicians and the Clouds citizens happy and live comfortable lives, while they also led a more comfortable life. Its teens rarely transferred out of the Province, unless their intelligence was urgently needed in Province 2. ══════════════════════════════════
Province 6
Fisheries, aquaculture Capital City: Limani Province 6 was located on the northeastern tip of the content, in a region that was dotted with lakes and rivers flowing out to the sea. There was more water under the domes of province 6 than there was land, and with good reason - this province was one of the last regions where the fallout had not reached the seas and oceans. Unlike the other provinces, whose domes ended at the sea and were mounted to the earth, the dome of province 6 was more of a sphere - where there was water, the dome dove down into its depths, underwater filters ensuring the water supply was kept clean. The capital city of Limani was a bustling port. Each province grew its own food to subsist on, but seafood only came from Province 6. As a result, seafood had become something of a status symbol, and the marine exports of the province were in high demand. This created a two-tiered system in the province, with wealthy fishery owners at the top and overworked fishermen at the bottom. The result was a province where immigration acted like a revolving door - shrewd teens transferring in, hoping for the opportunity to climb to the top of business, others transferring out or rebelling once they'd fallen on harder times. ══════════════════════════════════
Province 7
Textile Capital City: Textia Situated on the northwestern tip of the continent, it was freezing cold up north. The poorest Province of Urnium, Province 7, was a Province built on selflessness, and humility, providing textile for everyone in Urnium. Textiles were bought by the central government at an extremely low price before they were transported to Province 5 to be tailored by talented tailors and sold at a higher price. It was illegal for citizens of Province 7 to wear glamorous textiles, in contrast to the colorful textiles they produce, the citizens wore dull gray clothings, mostly covering themselves from head to toe due to the fact that it was very cold up north. Due to their geographical location, snowstorms were not uncommon and happened often. Lack of money to fund dome renovations had caused some parts of the dome to collapse, causing buildings to collapse as they could not handle the wind and the snow brought in from the outside. Despite the living conditions, not many people pass the aptitude test; most of them were suffering from stunting and lack of nutritious food, causing them to have lower IQs than most other provinces. Only the brightest could make it out of Province 7. Sharing its borders with Province 8, Province 7 had a good relationship with its neighbor, despite both being two of the poorest provinces in Urnium. ══════════════════════════════════
Province 8
Nuclear Capital city: Regna Bordering Province 7, Province 8 was also one of the poorest provinces in Urnium. Not much was known about their daily life, but rumors said that they were all dying of diseases caused by radiations from unsafe nuclear generators. They were banned from the aptitude test and population transfer due to their sickly population. Built upon a collectivist idea of respect and kindness, it did not bring them anywhere but to their own demise. ══════════════════════════════════
The Wasteland
The wasteland had not always been as it was. For years after the Great War, smaller towns and groups of settlers continued to exist in the spaces between the great cities. However, these pockets of civilization were surviving on borrowed time. As power and resources were consolidated to the provinces, it became harder and harder to maintain a normal life in the outer lands. Slowly, nature began to take its course. In some areas, the trees that could survive used buildings as scaffolds, growing through their windows and on top of their roofs. Elsewhere, the toxic environment began to eat away away at the stone and concrete, covering once great cities in massive sand dunes. And so began the slow transformation into the regions in-between that became the wasteland.
