Okay, just need to figure out how and where to start. Do we want to focus on Mara or on David?

Hmmm, part of me thinks we should focus on David? But if we open with Mara, then we can set up the story easier?

So, maybe start with Mara then shift to David as some big magic thing happens near him and Mara is summoned?

David dropped the stack of exam papers down on the couch in his home and walked up to the fridge. He was middle aged. A physics teacher for a local high school and just taking things one day at a time. A recent divorcee who found himself on his own after his wife cheated on him then as they tried to patch up she ran off out of the country. Being British living in America had given him a few legs up in the flirting department. But... well, he still felt fragile. He wasn't ready to put hismelf out there. He pulled his tie off first, then the jacket. His fingers numbly undoing the top button of his shirt. He fought the yawn that eventually forced his mouth open. Finally settling down. That's when he poured out the sparkling wine into the tall glass. Once it was done he picked it up and walked into his living room. He had a comfortable bachelor pad. He sold the house and split the money with his ex. And now he owned this apartment nearer the school. He settled into a beanbag chair and pulled out his phone. He started to flick through some things. Just trying to unwind. That's when he heard the thunder. He blinked and looked up, surprised by it. THere was nothing on the weather reports about a storm. But there was also no rain. He took a sip and stood up to look out of the window. That thunder was close. To those in the know, the gods were weaving magic. Working with the potentiality of fate to weave destinies together. But... well, for small fates it was a small thing. But when you're helping destiny choose someone, and weaving him with the soul and love of a half angel, the power that releases causes thunder. And Mara knew what was happening soon as the first bolt of thunder reverberated through her home.
