He hadn’t been around here much. Everything was new to him. Every little store and boutique he stumbled upon had probably been there for years, but to him, they were uncharted land. Most of them he didn’t investigate further, but this little coffee shop had seemed intriguing. Even though he enjoyed his coffee mostly plain and black, he was here for a fresh start. So why not try out something new he didn’t really do before?
He had passed the shop window a few times already while he was on his way to his own newly opened flower boutique. Today he had finally found the courage and time to step inside and take in his surroundings. The air smelled sweet with a pungent note of distinct coffee. It wasn’t sickening, but at least something he would need to grow accustomed to. It was unusual, but probably pretty normal for anyone who spent more time here. The people around him didn’t seem to mind. Most of them were occupied with their own beverage or pastry of their choice, quietly talking or scrolling through their phone. He didn’t pay too much attention to them, not when he had to figure out what he wanted. The options seemed endless, some of them pretty cryptic, with names similar to the shop's name. Wordplays on different quotes and the like. He couldn’t really figure them out and didn’t want to spend too much time pondering over them. He already held up the line.
Slowly stepping forward, his brow furrowed with a questioning look on his face. The woman before him smiled towards him, asking for his order. She was beautiful with her bright blue eyes and her round face. She could’ve been a model, and he understood why most of the customers appeared to be male. They probably all tried to get her number. It seemed a bit pathetic, but this should probably not be a thing he spent too much time thinking about. He was asked a question. He should answer and not brood silently any longer.
