She frowned, her knife pressing deeper into his skin, not quite breaking it yet. “Your threats don’t scare me.” she muttered. “You’ll die and no one will remember you, you’ll just be a faceless killer that was too weak to fend for himself.” the knife pressed deep, the pressure from it lifted slightly before replacing it with a stinging pain and blood running down his neck. She looked down, her smile forming again. “Your facial expressions are the same as his mothers, right before she died.” her eyes drifted back up to his. “Except she screamed, loud.. Lucian really believed me, that a siren was the one who got her.” she laughed, “Now you’ll die just like her.” there was a creaking sound from behind the door, her head swung to turn around.
Standing in the door frame, Lucian. His knife gripped in his hand, his eyes dark but forming tears. His eyes locked on Rose, he’d heard everything.
Rose gripped the knife, spinning over to face Lucian. “This isn’t what it looks like.” her eyes filled with tears, the so obvious faked emotions flooding from her voice. “You have to understand he-“ she paused. “He attacked me! I had to-“ Lucian cut her off, swiftly walking towards her. The blade of the knife disappeared into Roses stomach, blood dripped from it, her knife dropped. Lucian’s eyes filled with tears, his anger evident. The knife came out of her stomach, before going right back in. She fell to the ground, a gasp finally emerging from her throat. The blood fell to the floor, covering Lucian’s shirt and hands. Rose couldn’t breath, she coughed and blood spat out of her mouth. He stayed completely silent, his face unreadable, a mix of deep sadness and anger. He was confused, his mothers death was a lie, she hadn’t been lured by sirens. She’d been killed by Rose to take her spot at captain, and Lucian was going to be next. His very own childhood friend, whom he’d spent his entire life with, betrayed him.
