WARNING: THE FOLLOWING STORY WILL CONTAIN BAD LANGUAGE, VIOLENCE, GORE, SUBSTANCE ABUSE, SEX, AND EXTREME ADULT SITUATIONS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO SEXUAL ASSAULT AND GENERAL ABUSE, READER DISCRETION IS ADVISED It is said that many great wonders and horrors existed in the time of the Olde World, of which we possess only the smallest scraps. It was one such horror that would nearly end the world as we knew it. It began when only two mighty empires existed in the entirety of the world: Merigo and Shankai. Every corner of the world fell under one banner or the other, and both fought over the lands and resources that could be gathered. trading tensions would grow into skirmishes, which sparked the fire of total war. The Final War would last for decades, with neither side claiming victory and using what precious little resources remained to fuel their respective war machines. Potent spells of disease and destruction would ravage the front lines, and new alchemy and artifice would be developed on a regular basis in a mad scramble to have the upper hand. Eventually, the war would come to a devastating conclusion; which each side fearing loss, Megaspell warheads would be lauched at one another, causing annihilation on an incalculable scale. The few remaining people would survive however they could, with many in the Merigo Empire being fortunate enough to have a place within massive Shelters built deep underground. Others in the Shankai Empire would find safety in the otherworldly Haven, a magical pocket dimension. More still among the wealthy and powerful would escape the ravages of the world via the Ark, a staggeringly massive Spelljammer vessel. Regardless of how they survived, survive they did. Now, in this new dark age, the world struggles to heal; but tyrants and predators are many, and the world has a long way to go before it returns to it's former glory...if it returns at all. (edited)

Derrikh walked into the tavern, meeting the casual stares of the patrons within, who then promply went back to their drinks or conversations. If the weathered leather outfit and kevlar vest weren't enough to convey that he was not a man to be trifled with, the .500 revolver and machete strapped to his sides implied the message just fine. The Drow/Vedalken half-breed's pointed ears perked as he caught the snippets of conversations, none of them holding interest for him. His blue skin glistened ever-so-slightly from the heat of the chapparal environment outside, his short white hair moving from the breeze of the fans overhead. Finally, his blue eyes narrowed on the one whom he was looking for: A goliath with a large belly, but also large muscles to match. The goliath, Rombo, was presently devouring an entire roasted chicken when he grinned at Derrikh's approach. "Back already, my friend? You do fast work!" He motioned to the seat before him. "Please, sit! Have a drink on me!" Derrikh sat adjacent from Rombo, placing something wrapped in cloth in front of him. "So, where is the bastard?" Rombo asked, ripping a bite from a chicken leg, "Got him strapped up in your car, as usual?" "Not this time." Derrikh replied, looking to the server who approached. "Coffee with a shot of bourbon." He ordered. Rombo raised an eybrow. "Didn't go quietly, then? Sounds about right, ol' Grik never did know when to give up. So where is he?"

Derrikh unwrapped the cloth, revealing a severed finger with a ring on it. "The rest of him is back at Sunriver Canyon; I didn't want to collect all the pieces, so I brought the one that mattered. Sorry to spoil your dinner, by the way." Rombo scoffed, chewing another piece of meat. "Please, I've seen worse back in the day. Ordinarily, I wouldn't accept this as proof of demise...but because it's you, my friend, I'll make an acception." Wiping his hands with a napkin, he reached into a satchel nearby and procured a few weathered gold coins, placing the small stack in front of him. "I have more jobs for you, if you like?" "Absolutely." The half-breed replied, pocketing the stack of coins before taking a sip of his coffee. "That's what I like to hear." The fat goliath grinned, setting down a few paper leaflets, each one with an artist rendition of a target along with the offered bounty on each. "Pleasure doing business, as always." He spoke, tearing back into what was left of his meal. Derrikh drained his coffee, taking the leaflets before getting up to leave...

Despite the Final War being started by both countries, neither decided to just simply make a truce when the world fell entirely. Both Merigo and Shankai let their citizens suffer and neither allowed those who were completely rich to survive without struggle. And struggle the citizens of Merigo and Shankai did... ~~ "Get back here, you little cunt!" A roar of an angry orc rang through the market streets of Havbar, a small farming community with only two large mansions within and a tavern. A large orc male with deep green skin, a bald head, and standing at least eight feet tall, was hauling his large body through the market. His eyes were red with anger as his nostrils flared.
15:57
What had caused this orc to become so angry? Well, a five foot tall tan skinned tiefling covered in a dark black cloak was running just as fast if not a little faster than the massive beast behind her, tufts of auburn red hair peeking out of the cloak's hood. Despite her running for her life, the tiefling was laughing as she ran. She turned back, "Catch me if you can, you dumb bastard!" She laughed. She took a sudden right turn down a long alley way, then running through the alley, she threw her hands out and made all the doors behind her fly open. She laughed as the orc slammed them shut, but was delayed in the process. "I'm going to rip your fucking head off when I catch you!" "If you catch me that is!" Lycera was one of the most infamous thieves around. Standing at five feet tall with hip length back length hair and two large horns that curled back towards her head, and a long tail that flew out behind her. What made her so infamous? She stole from anyone who made more money than she did. Granted, she had a personal vow to never steal from the needy, but those who had plenty, could spare a thing or two, in her opinion. She had struggled all her life due to the Final War, and now, she was getting her time back through her fun.
15:57
She stole gold, jewels, clothes, artifacts, jewelry, trinkets, whatever she could find value in. She had decided she was going to swipe this orc's coin purse and a large pendent that he had tied to his belt, but unfortunately, she had snagged the belt, and alerted him. A common mistake that she normally didn't make, but thinks happen. So now she was running through the streets of Havbar. She took another turn and dove into a tavern that was available. She untied her cloak and she tossed it onto the coat rack and scooted to sit down at a table with a blue skinned Drow looking male. "Hi, Hi, Hi. You don't know me, but pretend you do. I've been here all day. I'll give you ten gold. Just here, kiss me." She said quickly, leaning forward and pressing her lips to his quickly. The orc stormed into the tavern and immediately looked around, his eyes narrowing at each patron. Fortunately, He hadn't seen Lycera's face, but he had seen the cloak. Which was blended in with the other cloaks on the rack. All he saw was a couple making out, the tavern owner glaring at him from the bar, and several patrons staring at him like he was insane. He growled angrily and he left the tavern, kicking a stool over before he left. Lycera pulled away and licked her lower lip. She smirked and patted the Drow's cheek. "Thank you sweetheart. I appreciate you." She cooed. She stood up and placed ten gold coins on the table. "As promised. Have a good one." She purred, her tail slinking around his leg before she went to grab her cloak. She slid it back on and she covered her head and she exited the tavern. @Iron Indigo

Derrikh BOT 03-Apr-23 09:43 AM
Just as he was about to get up, he found himself pushed back into his seat by a 5 foot tall tiefling woman...an impressive feat in and of itself, as Derrikh stood at a muscular 6 feet 4 inches. After a hurried request to act natural and pretend he knew her, he suddenly found his lips against hers. He'd been kissed many times in his life for different reasons, but this was a first for him. Instinct took over briefly, and against all better judgement, he found himself kissing her back. He could hear the angry Orc somewhere in the tavern making a scene, clearly this woman's pursuer. She broke the kiss eventually with a smirk on her face, thanking him for his cooperation in a soft, teasing tone; leaving a small stack of coins next to him as promised in her hasty dealing. Derrikh came to his senses quickly, noting an amused grin on Rombo's face. "Hot damn, you're good, the bounties are literally falling in your lap!" The fat Goliath guffawed, slapping the table. Derrikh looked back at Lycera's tail slipping around the corner, then narrowed his gaze at Rombo. "What?" Rombo pointed at the bounty papers, indicating that Derrikh read them. The Drow/Vedalken quickly leafed through the bounties one by one, finding an image of a familiar Tiefling woman. "Shit." He muttered, quickly getting out of his seat to pursue her. He could hear Rombo laughing more, "Go get 'er, loverboy!" Derrikh scowled. Assaulted once more by the heat when he went outside the tavern, he quickly scanned the area. Past the slow-moving throngs of people and vehicles, he caught sight of someone moving more quickly down an alleyway of one of the many nearby buildings of scrap metal and wood that made up the Town of Havbar..a tan-skinned tiefling woman with horns and auburn hair... Derrikh ran towards her, intent on catching her. @Super Sonic Vava

Lycera hummed to herself as she walked down the alleyways. She wasn't stupid and she could hear the man she had left at the tavern running towards her. She chuckled to herself, knowing that she had probably won his heart and now he was going to chase after her to beg her for her name. However, as she turned, she saw his eyes, and instantly, she knew that he was not after her for anything pleasant. She yelped and booked it down the alley. "Shit, shit, shit, shit!" She turned down a sharp alleyway, running full speed down the dirt path. "God, dammit!" She looked back to the man and saw him more clearly. He looked angry! "I-Is this about the amount of money? I have more coins!" She said, running faster. She threw her hands out to send several boxes tumbling behind her. Who the hell was this guy?! (edited)

Derrikh leapt against the wall and then cleanly over the boxes toppled into his way, landing on his feet and back into a run, quickly returning to his previous stride. "Stop where you are and surrender, now!" He shouted. She was assuredly fast, but he was determined to either be faster, or wear her out in a long chase; it wouldn't have been the first time the bounty hunter had to do that. He wished he'd had his stunner or his baton with him, or at the very least, his grappling hook; alas, he didn't know he'd be dealing with his next quarry so soon. He recognized where she was going: The Angles, a well-known slum in Havbar, named thus for it's particularly haphazard construction and building placement, the many alleyways like a maze. If she made it there, she could easily disappear! With a growl, He put everything he had into sprinting full bore, with the intention of tackling her once he got close enough. @Super Sonic Vava
