Shel yelled and struggled as she was dragged across the concrete floor. Her cries would go unnoticed by her boyfriend who kept a firm grip on Shel and continued to drag her to the other side of the dark basement towards a large white box sitting ominously against the wall. It looked like some sort of high tech Coffin and that’s exactly what it was because anyone who went inside never came out alive. The Coffin was supposed to be the next generation in home entertainment a portal to a virtual world of which had never been seen before. Millions of gamers and tech enthusiasts alike hopped inside of these machines on launch day and thousands came out completely braindead, as if their souls had been snatched from their bodies leaving only an empty shell that was physically alive but was nothing like the people they were before. Four years later only a few hundred are still trapped inside these white boxes of doom with their numbers steadily dropping. When Shel saw the white death machine glaring at her she gasped in horror. She thought all of the remaining Coffins had been seized and scrapped, so how was Brandon able to get one? Shel and Brandon had been together for years and every second was pure torture for Shel. The girl was abused regularly yet with no family and no skills to make a living she believed she had no where else to go. “W-What are you doing?! H-How did you get that?!” Her voice shaking as she stared in horror visibly shaking as she stared at the tall white container. “Shut up!” Brandon yelled as he kicked her. “This is exactly why I got this! You’ve always been such an annoying bitch. I only keep you around cause you’re pretty that and you wouldn’t last a day on your own. With this machine I can keep you forever and I won’t have to deal with your bitchiness. You’ll be my little plaything forever and ever.” Brandon said with an evil smirk as he opened the door to the coffin. The inside glowed a brilliant white and Shel’s face went pale.

“No! Don’t do this! I’m begging you!” Shel pleaded with tears streaming down her face. Her heart was racing and the poor girl was scared for her life. She’d been beaten locked up and even raped but now she was faced with certain death. “Please Brandon I’ll do anything!” She begged between sobs. “Too late Shelly I already spent a fortune on this thing so in you go slut!” Brandon taunted her as he forced Shel into the metal box ignoring her screams and cries for help. After a long struggle the Coffin closed with a loud clank followed by several clicks as the machine sealed its victim inside. Shel began banging on the door begging Brandon to help her as her consciousness began to fade. Shel could feel her movements begin to slow and get weaker and she felt an overwhelming feeling of exhaustion. She tried her hardest to stay awake but eventually her vision went dark and her mind drifted off to sleep. She had no idea what awaited her on the other side, but she prepared herself for the worst. Then there was darkness, Shel lay still awaiting her fate. Was she already dead? Was she just supposed to exist in darkness for the rest of eternity? Is this hell? Her thought were interrupted by an electronic voice that rang through her head. “Scanning” “User Identified” “Shel Granger” “Generating Username” “Shelter” “Transporting to Terminal” The voice finally stopped and Shel once again slipped into unconsciousness. The first thing Shel felt was warmth, the kind that came with a hot summer day, she even felt what felt like sun on her skin. Then she began hearing things, the distant roar of airplanes, the sound of busy city traffic, and footsteps all around her. Slowly the girl opened her eyes and was met the the last thing she expected to see. Shel was standing outside of an airport terminal, needless to say she was thoroughly confused. This was the death game that killed millions?

Shel took a few steps onto the sidewalk and looked around, Everything seemed so real. The summer sky looked beautiful and the traffic and people walking around was very scenic. Granted she knew by just how many people were passing that they were not real, only a few hundred players remained inside the Coffins and she’d seen hundreds of people pass in the few minutes she’d been standing there, therefore these had to be computers or something. Other than being surrounded by people who weren’t real Shel didn’t see anything remotely dangerous as she began walking down the sidewalk. That was until she saw a black figure staring off into the distance. She assumed he was a player because of how differently he was dressed from everyone else, he wore a flannel shirt with a black bulletproof vest and a black tactical helmet, definitely not a computer, only an edgy gamer would wear such a ridiculous outfit. As she stepped closer she saw a nametag appear above his head “xvaes” was an odd name but she continued towards the figure who was facing away from her. Shel opened her mouth and began to say something before she stopped, her eyes darted towards the man’s ankles as she noticed they weren’t there. She wanted to sneak away but the figure had already been made aware of her presence and began turning around to face her. Shel watched in horror as the figure slowly turned around revealing a face covered in burned and blown up flesh. His skull was half exposed and his eyes were completely black. Shel just screamed in terror as the figure began to laugh maniacally, the charred flesh around his mouth shaking as he cackled.

The terrified girl quickly turned and ran away from the disfigured man, sprinting as fast as she could down the sidewalk as the NPCs around her screamed and ran for cover. While her back was turned Shel didn’t see the player reach into his pocket and pull out a rocket launcher, Before she knew it explosions were going off around her and the demonic cackles of the monster behind her could be heard between each earth shattering explosion. Shel just kept running not knowing what else to do, she was completely alone with no way to fight back against this monster. That was until she heard the loud crack of a gun nearby and as she spun around to see what was going on she saw “xvaes” was laying on the ground with a massive hole in his combat helmet and the health bar above his head had shrunk to only a sliver, Shel would have never been able to guess what the monster would do next. The scorched man in front of her suddenly ripped a grenade from his pocket and pulled the pin staring into Shel’s soul with his empty black eyes as his body was engulfed in a fiery explosion.

Ty stepped out of the shadows he was hiding in, The man was dressed in full camo with a combat helmet and plate carrier to match, he realized he must have looked terrifying to the girl he’d just saved seeing as how he looked similar to the player that just tried to kill her minus the emo attire and disfigured face. Slowly Tyrant slipped his rifle back into his pocket and began to remove his helmet as well as his camouflage face covering as he approached the terrified girl still staring in shock and horror at the spot where a monster just attacked her and killed himself in a gruesome explosion. “Are you ok?” Tyrant asked, his nametag and health bar hovering just above his head. The player in front of her showed no signs of being a scorched monster, in fact his face was smooth and his blue eyes were full of life. “Are you hurt?” The man asked again as he looked the girl up and down for injuries. @ShadySkady
