No one expected the storm. Especially with the ship loaded down with valuable cargo set to go to Dead Maw Cove. The night made it hard to see his hands as he grabbed ahold of ropes, soaked through from the pounding rain that seemed to have fallen all at once from the thick cloud covering overhead. Shouts of orders from the other crew members were barely heard over the monstrous shrills and roars of the dragons on board. Not to mention the sounds of a Skrill overhead, moving along the lightening as if it was a messenger of Odin himself. Yet, here he was trying to make the best of it. The ship tossed and turned like a doll in a toddlers hands. At the mercy of the sea with waves that rose up and down like the back fins of a Hideous Zippleback. The drastic up and downs made it hard to keep his feet on the slippery deck as he continued to pull harder on the ropes, doing his best to help in tying up the sails. The wind was so aggressive, easily ripping apart the sails that couldn't be pulled up in time. As well as send a cold chill up the whole crew's spines. It was already cold enough in these waters. He quickly finished tying the knot before running to help secure some of the cages that were starting to break from their holdings. The chains were not meant to hold large dragons. Yet here they had on deck a Duskcutter as it was too large to fit the smaller cages below deck. Perhaps it was because they brought that wretched beast on board that they got cursed. It took out three of their own before it was captured. He had suggested to kill the damn beast, but he was told it was more valuable alive. Now here they were, fighting for their lives as another large wave crashed into the side of the ship. The Duskcutter growling and pulling against it's restraints. Making it all the more difficult to get more chains around the shifting cage. The storm was enough of a problem, they didn't need this damn dragon to add to it. "Shut the hell up, you monster!" he yelled at the b

east as he fought to lock the chains in place. The dragon growled at him in protest, and he opened his mouth to reply a little too late. "SKRILL!" He only heard the words for a brief moment before light filled his vision and a jolt of something ran through him. He fell back onto the deck of the ship, or what he thought might be the ship as the light temporarily blinded him. The cracking of the wood, followed by loud thumps beside him told him all he needed. The main mast of the ship was taken down by the Skrill that had been flying overhead. Waiting for it's chance to strike. And among the chaos, the ship and it's crew was an easy target. Blinking a few times, his vision began to come to and his muscles were more in control of himself. He pulled himself together in time to notice the ship was in flames. People desperately trying to put out what they could, while charred bodies laid where the Skrill made it's attack. He did not get to see the bodies for too long as he noticed another danger. A large wave coming port side. Before a word could be uttered, the wave crashed into the ship and caused it to capsize. All he could remember after that was water. Water filling his lungs, making it feel on fire as he started to sink into the depths below. This is it... I hope I make it to Valhalla... An eternity felt like it had passed. A vision of his past replaying over and over in his mind. Was this what death was like? No, this was far from death. He could feel pain in his chest and leg. It was then his eyes shot open and he coughed heavily. He was on some sort of beach laden with sand and rocks. >>

His lungs hurt with each labored breath, and his left leg felt wrong. He tried to move it, but grimaced from the mind shattering pain. It caused him to see black spots, so he decided not to try and move it again. What he did manage to do was roll onto his side, vomiting up the salt water that had decided to invade his body. It was worse coming up than going in. At least when he thought he was drowning, it was a more peaceful experience. Once he got more of the salty water from his body, he dared to look to his right. It was the cusp of sunrise, and he could barely make out the shapes of wood and crates from the wreckage in the dim lighting. His mind still felt woozy from everything that had happened. He even felt a sort of numbness across his head, and wet. He lifted his right hand and gently ran his finger tips over the top right of his head. There was a sizable gash from what he could feel, and moving his hand into eyesight showed the blood he was loosing. "Have the gods abandoned me? Are they torturing me?" he grumbled to himself as he now decided to look to his left. More of the wreckage was scattered among the beach. Including a familiar cage with a large mass inside it. The cage was very bent up, and the dark scaled creature inside was not moving. Did he finally get his wish of that cursed creature being dead? Another wave of pain rushed through him as he gagged. He thought he had expelled all the water from his body, but more of the sea got into him than he had thought. As he threw up more, it made his head spin. He rolled onto his back, his eyelids fluttering as he felt his consciousness starting to slip again. Thor, lend me your strength to live... to see another day.

The island was a quiet one. Soft waves grazed along the black sands, bioluminescence bringing light with each move the water made. The forest inside swayed with each small push from the wind. The land made no sound other than what it was brought to make. Today was different, a storm approached with fair strength for this land to notice. Although it was quiet most of the time, it definitely wasn't barren of life. Birds and sheep lived here, sure, but so did another... A little ways away, black sand started rising from below, and the eyes of a black dragon showed. They were more narrow to be a night fury, but the iconic green and pitch black scales were almost impossible to ignore, especially when said dragon crawled out of the sand. The scales, the body, it was unmistakable. The dragon stalked the body of the injured man, keeping her mouth slightly open to make small echoing sounds. Why wasn't she attacking? Was the dragon merely teasing? The reason started to make more sense, when a woman ran to the scene, armed with a sword, only to find an injured man, along with a caged skrill. "Odin have mercy on me... Iona, grab the skrill and bring it to the cabin, I'll see what I can do with him." She ordered, and that dragon did just as told without a lick of hesitation. The lonely Viking woman lifted the man up by his underarms, and began dragging him out of the black sand and towards her home. He was covered in various types of injuries, wood sticking out of him in some areas, but overall just covered in blood and sand. This felt like such a trick. So many years of hiding, just for this?? What a pain. .
02:26
After a laborious walk back home, dragging a man double his weight there, she hoisted him into the bed inside her cabin, sat down, and began working. Iona, the name of the dragon, brought over her kit, and moaned in curiosity, poking the woman in the shoulder. "I don't like this either, but if I let him die on the shore, I'd have to deal with the smell." She replied, half joking about that situation, pulling out the spikes or splinters of wood from his skin, peeling back some of the blood soaked clothes to reach them. It took a long time to get everything out, cleaned and bandaged, but finally, it was all done. Luckily he was unconscious, or at least too weak to do anything. She wasn't sure which one just yet... Well, there goes a larger dinner. The man was definitely going to need something to eat and drink when he woke up... Luckily she was already cooking a stew off the fish and vegetables she grew. So, she reluctantly filled a bowl up, as well as a cup of water, and sat it on the table beside the bed... Now, she waited.

Svend was barely aware of the movement. Was a beast of these lands carrying him off? Another dragon perhaps? His consciousness was flickering in and out as he barely made out a few words. Human words. Odin... skrill? Did the skrill follow him to the island and that is where his fate laid? Or did they believe the Duskcutter that he assumed dead was a Skrill? They were similar in color, especially humped up in a large mass. Trying to think of what was going on only made his head ache more. Everything else felt like pieces of memories. More movement, more words, and the sand replaced for what felt like the softness of a bed. Did he luck out and find an island inhabited by people?! Thank the gods! His eyes fluttered open for a moment as she pulled out spikes and splinters, a weak groan escaping him as he felt a moment of pain. His vision too unstable to really see who or what was working on him. So he closed his eyes back to get some more rest. The dragon on the other hand that was dragged back growled weakly. As the Nightfury pulled it along, one would see it was similar to a Stormcutter. Four long wings, two legs, but scales dark enough to blend in with the stormy clouds they normally traveled in. The only bits of color was the bright pink spikes that ran down the middle of it's back. Like the man, it did not fight against the other. It was too weak and tired, one wing very obviously broken, as well as the right horn that adorned the top of it's owl-like head. It was not much larger than the dragon dragging it, indicating that it was an adolescence for the species. Hours would pass before either would wake. Svend being the first, his eyes slowly opening to see he was in someone's home. The smell of fish entered his nostrils right away, telling him that someone had made food. Gritting his teeth, he sat up a bit to get a better view of the environment he was in. A bowl of food. A cup of water. Someone had set this out for him? He held a look of pain and confusion

as it took all his strength to keep this slightly upward position. He was not someone who felt weak often. He fought off dragons and giant waves! Yet, here he felt as weak as a babe. Shaking his head a bit, he pushed away the thoughts and scanned his eyes over the room to see what else he could find.

By the center fire, cooking a small cauldron of that same stew, was a woman dressed in many layers for the colder weather, seeming to have a one sided conversation with herself. Although with careful examination, the same jet black dragon could be seen perched on the roof's inner support beams, making those same soft, echoing moans, patterned to mimic the general Nordic vernacular, or at least, the tone. "Quit pouting, it'll be fine. Ten years out here and you think today's gonna be the day by coincidence? How bored can you be, Iona?" Well, the dragon, whom we now know as Iona, didn't make a sound. Instead, she looped her tail around the beam, flipped over to hang like a bat, and tugged on the woman's garments, pulling her back some. That earned a nice pop on the nose. "That was childish! It'll be fine!" She snapped, waving her poking stick around a bit, with the nightfury already back on the post properly. She sighed heavy, now really thinking on what she was talking about, about being found... She didn't think too hard on it, now focusing her attention on her new guest. "Welcome back... I'm sorry if your wounds hurt, or feel uncomfortable, I only have wool for bandages, no cotton... How did you end up here? Or better, his did you find me?" Seemed oddly specific... Well, if anybody kept up with oversea gossip, her story would be well know. Saga Solburg, the daughter of chief Leevi Solburg from the Western lands... The daughter who ran away with the dragons. Her face and body had greatly matured in the ten years she had been in isolation. (edited)

The man was quite perplexed as he saw the woman seemingly talking to himself. Of course he would be the one to land on the island of a crazy one. Never mind, the gods are pulling a cruel joke on me! he thought to himself as he observed her quietly. It wasn't long before he noticed a very peculiar sound from the rafters above. Looking more upwards, he saw the dragon. Was she talking to a dragon?! He had heard rumors about a young lass years ago abandoning her people for the dragons. If he remembered correctly, he heard the chief of that village was very ill currently. But, those were only rumors he heard floating about on his own adventures. The beast has a name... like a damn house cat. This is insanity. The thought was validated as the dragon hung upside down, and the woman hit it's nose. A dragon that could tolerate such a thing was madness in itself. Perhaps the woman was half dragon herself with how well the creature tolerated her. His face must have been priceless to the woman as she looked to him and spoke. One brown furrowed, the other raised with a look of both confusion and disgust at what he just witnessed. "I am unsure of what you mean by finding you... You found me, lass. I have nary a clue where I am." he grumbled, trying not to move too much. He was at the mercy of this crazy woman. He didn't want to say anything that would get him killed here. "The ship I was on got hit by a nasty storm... and even nastier skrill. Put us all under it did. I must have washed ashore with some of the wreckage. The last thing I remember is the ship going capsize and water filling my lungs." He then had another thought as he looked the the nightfury. "What's with the dragon? Pet or something? Never seen a tame dragon before. How is not trying to rip your arm off?" It was bizarre to him that anyone would want to be near a dragon, let alone a Nightfury. Those creatures had a vile reputation. Devils of the night sky, and very elusive ones at that. >
15:55
He never saw one in person until now. Which made him feel all the more nervous about being in the same room as one. As he thought about the dragon, his mind wandered to the one in the cage. He swore that evil beast washed up on shore with him. Maybe his mind had played tricks on him in his delirious state of being? For now he pushed the thought aside. He would ask about the monster later. His vision was limited to what he could see before him anyways as it hurt a lot to move. He looked to the bowl beside him. In this moment he wasn't too hungry. But the water seemed appealing. He reached for the cup and picked it up with a grunt. Every fiber of his being hurt. He took a long drink from the fresh water. The salt of the ocean had felt like it dried him up from the inside. Having something like this to drink was refreshing, and helped with his dry mouth. Letting out a sigh, he put the now empty cup back on the table.

Well, at least she understood his situation. She hadn't been hunted down, just found by coincidence. He just needed to heal, get supplies and a new boat, and go home. WITHOUT an imprisoned skrill. She understood, and didn't press further as though he was some sort of bounty hunter. "Why do you have a skrill? Are you a dragon hunter?... And stop looking at me like I'm unstable." She huffed, poking the fire a little more just to keep the cabin warm. It was frustrating to say the least, but hey, it was understandable. "I was able to put those pieces together. Your skrill seemed pretty stressed out, so Iona put him outside under the trees to stay dry in the rain. Hopefully he's asleep by the time I check on him next." Saga replied, then once eye contact was made with the nightfury above, she immediately snarled. Elusive was definitely the right word. Although they definitely weren't close to extinction, they weren't exactly the most common dragons to see either. If anybody saw them and lived to tell the tale, they were usually viewed as crazy... "Iona? Rip my arm off? Maybe when we first met but we're beyond that. I met her as a youngling. Lots of time to get to know each other." Eventually, the dragon had crawled down the support beam and rested at the back of the woman, her eyes steady on each move the new man made. Unlike most nightfuries, her eyes were more narrow, and her ears more cupped. Her nose was able to close, she posessed a non harmful mutation of a second eyelid like a lizard, her front feet we're more narrow, and all her claws we're slightly wider. Her entire body had adapted to digging... The woman watched him carefully in her side vision, he really wasn't in great shape... Him moving just to get the cup of water was all the more pitiful to watch... She rolled her eyes to herself, standing up and fetching him more water, replacing the cup. "Did you have anybody else? Anybody that would be tracking your path?" (edited)

"A skrill? There was no skrill on our ship... There was one that attacked our ship." he replied with a confused look. Was she talking about the caged dragon? "If you're talking about the caged dragon... it's a Duskcutter. A subspecies of Stormcutter that's adapted for hunting at night and clouded days. Part of the sharp class of dragons, and a mighty beast at that. It was killin' cattle on an island to the North East, and we were hired to take care of the problem." He was careful about the words he used. He felt that a dragon hunter label would surely get him killed by this woman and her strange pet. But, he did feel the need to explain why a caged up dragon washed up on shore with him. It also confirmed that what he had seen was not a pain driven hallucination. The Duskcutter had indeed washed up on shore with him, and that made him feel concerned. "I would be careful with that Duskcutter, Lass. It's very dangerous. Killed a few of the crew before it was put on board. My job on that ship is to do what I'm told, ask questions later. Different villages hire us to take care of a variety of issues that come up. Dire wolves, dragons, bears... whatever it may be. We take the contract, fufill our job, and get paid. Dragon's tend to be the most frequent creatures we handle as most villages are not equipped to handle them." He found it strange that the woman found the company of a dragon normal. Even casually mentioning that at first encounter, the Night fury would have ripped her arm off. That settles it... this woman is a loon. he thought to himself as he continued to watch and listen. He noticed that the night fury looked a bit different from illustrations he saw. Then again, he assumed that maybe the illustrations were probably wrong and that this is what they were supposed to be like. A flying and digging sort of species? He wasn't for sure, but he wasn't exactly going to question the dragon on it's strange appearance. >
10:13
"Tracking me? Lass, I'm a deck hand. If someone like me goes missing, there won't be someone lookin'. It's all apart of the work. High risk, high reward. I don't know if anyone else washed ashore alive. You're guess is as good as mine." He picked up the new glass of water, taking a long drink from it. He emptied half of it before putting it down. Sitting a little more upright, he grimaced. It wasn't a comfortable position, but he didn't want to be laying down so much when speaking to the woman beside him. "I grow tired of calling you Lass... I'm Svend. Do I get to know the name of my dragon talkin' savior?" He figured it would confirm his suspicion of who she was, as well as make things a little less awkward between them. He was a stranger in her home. It was rude to him not to at least give her his name. His name wasn't something well known through the lands. He was a deckhand. Someone who was replaceable if he died at sea.

"Whatever it was, it was entirely too stressed, and it looked just as wounded as you... I couldn't see it in the dark, and my dragon can't speak... I couldn't see what species it was. I heard a Skrill, so I assumed it was a Skrill." She replied, shrugging off her mistake and continuing to feed the fire. A Dusk cutter, that's one she actually hasn't seen in person, amongst, a lot of other dragons. Now she was indeed curious to see what it looked like, and it's tame-ability. "Killing cattle? Are you sure it did that because of a random desire, or out of a form of revenge?" Of course Saga didn't heed his warning, instead, she just laughed. How much danger could she be in? It's not like she hadn't done this before. "I'm sure I'll be fine. Perhaps my arm wasn't ripped off, but a nightfury isn't the easiest creature to tame either. I think I'll be able to handle myself just fine..." She chuckled, shaking her head. By this point, she already knew exactly what his job was. Caged dragon, sailor, hired to capture large game villages can't handle, he gave it away before he could even do it himself. "You're not going to kill him, that's for sure." Although she wasn't making direct eye contact with him initially, she was now, and this time, expressing more frustration. "I mean it, stop looking at me like I'm crazy. Take a big look at the night fury, she's a tamed dragon, okay? I've got her and she's loyal to me. I'm not crazy because I managed to befriend a supposed devil! So wipe that awful expression off your face!" She snapped, the whole time, grabbing Iona by the sides of her face and shaking it around when she emphasizes her sentence. The dragon, enduring this little fit of frustration, did NOT seem happy about her situation. Why couldn't this crazy woman let go of her face? Finally, she huffed once more, letting go and poking the fire again. "You've had that foolish expression on your face ever since you woke up." . (edited)

"At least the risk is lower, I still believe I should move islands... I doubt I will, the risk is too heavy..." She mumbled to herself, before sighing at his request. Her name. "Saga Solburg..." The name itself was enough of a giveaway if anybody's traveled along western lands. The family name of chiefs. She really had given herself away, since she didn't think she was tracked. If this man spoke the truth, nobody was following him. Staying hidden was meaningless. (edited)

Svend could see this woman was more fiery than a Nightmare. She spoke so sharply to him. No wonder she was a speaker to the dragons. She behaved just like one! Wild and vicious, using her voice like claws and fangs against him! I've been sent to my doom... "I don't speak to dragons, so I am unsure. I just get hired to do a job. I figured you would be the one understanding them. You were talking to that one." He motioned to the nightfury, who still seemed to tame in his eyes. It was nothing like the stories he had heard. Nothing like some of the other dragons he had fought. "Do what you will with the Duskcutter. Not like I'm going to get paid. I'd be lucky to even get a job on any ship at this point." he stated, followed by a sigh. He didn't even have the strength to think about killing a dragon, let alone actually doing it right now. Plus, she seemed to have her eyes set on it. Maybe he could use it as a gift? A barter for helping him? Crazed Duskcutter for saving his life. Seemed almost fair. He flinched back a little as she grew frustrated and spoke about her not being crazy. That was something a crazy viking would say, right? His expression did change like she asked. But one more of confusion and concern the more she spoke. Even when she grabbed Iona by the face and shook it, his look didn't much change. It was hard to hide his feelings on this matter. He was taught to be scarier than the dragons. Hunt the one's causing problems for other islands. Never did he expect one could be tamed. He stayed silent for a bit, giving her time to finish her thoughts and statements. He learned a lot about her in that short moment. Her name, her firm beliefs about the dragons, and her paranoia of being found. Why would she care about being found? It was a thought that bought intrigued and perplexed him. It was like she rather be in the company of the dragons than her own. >
09:18
This also told him that perhaps they were the only Vikings on the island, which was both a blessing and a curse to him at this point. On one hand, crazy dragon lady. On the other hand, no one to really bother him as he was healing. It was sort of embarrassing for him to be in such a sorry state of being, even if it was the will of the sea. "I've heard your name before. The one who ran with the dragon. I thought it was just rumors or a crazy legend, but here I am. And here you are." He looked her up and down, and then back to the dragon. "I guess you aren't crazy after all. You're proof that some dragons are... tame? How do you even tame a dragon? Treats and head pets?" He chuckled to the last part, finding the idea amusing. It was like training a dog in his mind. And the thought seemed just as bizarre to him. A dragon dog. Perhaps the rumors of nightfuries being devils of the sky were not as true as he thought. Maybe the rumor was made to protect them? Or someone came up with the wild tale because they were embarrassed to be bested by them. The dragon did look incredibly soft, and it did tolerate some face squishing.

An elongated sigh left her mouth, leaning forward as her dragon leaned on her back. "You don't even need to understand dragons to understand the concept of revenge... Ask the village some questions, you would've figured it out in no time. I mean, try and think about a wee bit." Well, she looked over to him. With more sympathy this time. Lucky to get a job... That seemed like a very unhappy way to live, living day by day by the pay you hope to receive, lumber, sheep, food... It seemed stressful. What could she even say to that? Her old life never felt like that, and even now, she didn't have to rely on any man to sustain her. Only the land and her dragon. There was nothing she could give other than a look of pity. So, she didn't, she turned her head back towards the fire, and nodded in acknowledgement. She didn't remain speechless forever. Hearing a piece of such shit come out of his mouth baffled her. How could the rumor leave out the most important detail? "I didn't run away!" She snapped, turning towards the man once more. Although, she calmed down pretty quick, sighing heavily and returning her gaze. "I was exiled... I found Iona as a youngling, I was only thirteen, and I took care of her. She didn't know how to fly, she was too young, so while I fed her, I also taught her how to fly the best I could. The only thing she knew how to do was dig. She took shelter in tunnels she burned into place underground... My father caught me when I was fourteen, by then she could fly and hunt, and he couldn't save me from such a treacherous thing, even if I tried so hard to show them that she was good. He gave me a boat, some cotton seeds and food, and sent me off... I know he didn't want to, I know that." She leaned her head back to touch Iona's, smiling some to herself. "A lot of fish, yes, and a lot of my time spent talking to her, approaching her like a Viking, to approaching her like an equal... She wasn't exactly this tame when I found her,

and she definitely wouldn't let me lay a finger on her, otherwise she'd eat it. It was just, as much persistence as I could find. It paid off, clearly." She replied, chuckling at his little joke as well. Iona, although she was extremely intelligent, didn't understand what was really going on... Probably because she was also zoned out and half asleep

S: "It isn't my job to ask questions... I do what I'm told, or I don't have a job anymore. The captain is the one who asked the questions." It was a simple concept to him. Just as most jobs were, there was a price and a product. The crew was the price, and the products were the dragons. It didn't get more simple in his mind. Then again, he never met a tame dragon. Nor seen one that was so intrigued by what it's master was doing. This was surely a master and pet sort of relation between Saga and Iona. However, it was hard to see which was which. Dragons were feared by most vikings, so what made this woman think so differently? He got his answer when she snapped at him again. That's it, she's the dragon and the other thing is just a woman in a dragon suit! he thought as he watched her with an unconvinced look. The more she spoke, though, the more things made sense. She was exiled after saving a dragon. Most villages would probably do the same. Why raise what could eventually kill you or your livestock? It was like raising a bear. Bears and dragons alike had instincts they followed, right? His gaze shifted back to the dragon for a few moments. She sacrificed everything for the safety of this ground, burrowing dragon. That was a trait he never heard of before from the species. He knew them as creatures that flew in the night and killed from above, not below. Was this one a subspecies of night fury? Ground fury? That sounded silly in his head. "I see... I can't say I'm surprised. Dragons are not typically kept as pets. Your dragon seems tame for the most part, but if something set it off would you be safe? Would your home be safe?" he inquired, trying to understand more. "I can clearly see that you somehow made a bond with this dragon... I must admit, it is strange to me. I've never seen anything quite like it. You must have gotten lucky, Saga. It is a shame, though, that your village turned it's back on you cause of it." He finally reached for the bowl of soup. > (edited)

His stomach was starting to growl. The more he was awake, the hungrier he had gotten. He lifted the spoon to his mouth, and took a bite. It was more flavorful than he had expected. Made from fresh fish, and whatever else she had grown or foraged. It wasn't bad at all, even if it was much cooler at this time. He tried to move his left leg and winced. Broken or fractured, he was unsure which of the two. He just knew it would take a little while to heal. "Tastes good. Thank you for all of this." Even if she was crazy, she did save his life. He felt he needed to show his gratitude to her. When he was healed, he would find some way to repay her. Maybe with work? It wasn't like he had a way off the island, after all. He was sort of stuck until a boat was made. Stuck at the mercy of a woman and her dragon.

Slowly but surely, the constant pitter patter of rain hitting her roof eventually slowed to a stop. All that was left was the moderate wind constantly blowing at her foundation. It left the cabin closer to peaceful quiet. When the rain stopped, Iona's ears flew up, pointing the open cup wherever the sound she heard was, then ran off outside. Saga didn't panic, not even flinch, just allowed the creature to do whatever she pleased. This was her home after all, she could roam freely... It all made sense once the dragon started "talking" to the dusk cutter. Patterns of moans, pitched perfectly in a language unspeakable to human kind, to attempt to form a bond with a rather unfriendly dragon, seemed so out of the ordinary... At least, with Iona's introverted and reserved first impression. She liked having friends too, just like any human. The woman, now left alone with Svend and his unending questions, took in a deep breath. "Yes, I would... I haven't had a big moment to prove to all the west that my dragon is worthy of respect, and the situation at home was a loss no matter how she reacted, but I know I would be okay, as well as any human willing to restrain themselves from harming her..." Her voice was earnest, and honest. Every word she said seemed to hint at her feeling on edge, but they were genuine. She didn't seem to lie to feel validated. Just, spoke her words. "I didn't get lucky. Lucky would be finding her as an egg... I found her wild, young, but wild. I just, took my time. I think that dusk cutter can be a loyal companion, if you try at least." She continued, poking the fire once more, with dragon conversation and wind to prevent painful silence. .

Saga, once the man winced in pain, stood up and went outside for a brief moment, returning with two moderately long sticks, thick enough to be walking sticks, then gathered some linen fabric. The wrap of linen was of all sorts of colors and patterns, all sewn together, as if they came from all sorts of clothing. It became more useful as a wrap than a nice dress would. Once all the materials were gathered, she sat down by his side, gently moving the leg up to lay straight on the bed, and began working. Placing the sticks on both the left and right side of his leg, and wrapped it tightly, from the ankle, all the way to right below the knee. "It's the least I could do. I might be alone but I'm still human." The brunette replied, much quieter this time. Perhaps she did still feel some conflicted emotions about his honesty. She just, didn't want to be found. She was happy by herself.

Hearing the sounds of the Duskcutter outside, Svend looked toward the doorway. He wasn't exactly comfortable knowing that beast was alive. But, who was he to protest the dragon woman? It was her island. Her home. And, unfortunately, he had to follow her ways at this time. Even if it was quite strange and bizarre to him. She's gonna get us killed... was the thought that ran through his mind as he heard the Duskcutter make grumbles and clicks back at the Nightfury. His gaze shifted back to her as she spoke. Her quest was to prove to the west that her dragon was worthy? It was a strange mission. Everything about this was utterly strange. But, he could respect the cause in a way. Iona had yet to harm him, and he was vulnerable in his injured state. Perhaps some dragons were indeed trainable. Or this is a fever dream... Continuing to stay silent, Svend thought over her answers. He had asked a lot of questions. One couldn't blame a viking for being curious about what was happening here. A myth of a woman flying with a dragon being truth. Two dragons outside conversing in their own tongue, and a Viking woman who acted as though this was as normal as the sun rising every morning. One thing did strike out to him as odd. "A loyal companion? The Duskcutter? Did you miss the part where I said it killed quite a few crew hands before it was captured?" He made that face again. The 'you're crazy' look that glimmered in his eyes. That perked brow, while the other furrowed a bit. Surely she wasn't serious about him trying to work with that beast. Before he could protest more, she was working on his leg. Getting it braced. He gripped onto the bedding and hissed under his breath as she moved it around. "You're just as ruthless as the dragons!" he exclaimed as she tightened the brace tightly. His look was now one of pain, and annoyance. There was no warning when she began to work on him. Even the doc on the ship gave a 'shut the fuck up so we can get this done' as a warning>
10:13
Now that she was finished and spoke of being human, he looked down to his leg. She did do good work on it. "Could also at least warn a Viking before you just man handle their wounds." He leaned forward with a grunt to feel over the brace a moment. It was very much secure. "Looks good though... feels secure... Thank you. Sorry for that outburst." He was not used to any of this. The dragons. The feeling of being alone on this island with a stranger. The thought that everyone on that ship was probably dead, unless they ended up lucky like him. If he considered that lucky. He could hear movement outside, and the Duskcutter being more vocal. It was a dominate species, and he wondered if the Nightfury was fine. What he didn't know was that the Duskcutter was trying to stand. It growled and grumbled, showing Iona is broken wing. Only one of the four was broken, but the others had some rips and tears in the webbing. The creature had wounds from arrows and bruising from being hit by maces and clubs. Even it's tail fin had some damage. It wouldn't be able to fly for some time. But, at least the female dragon was conscious.

"Did you hear yourself? You captured him. If I was being kidnapped, I'd certainly kill whoever was trying to catch me too. You forget dragons are just as sentient as you and me." She replied before working on his leg. Man, he was certainly stubborn. Although, she understood his confusion. Saga knew this life and ideology as normal, the rest of the world didn't... She knew, she knew... The woman quickly grew defensive at such a sudden anger. Just because she was human, doesn't mean she wasn't wild, or at least unmannerly. Once he shouted, she bore her teeth like an animal, gripping whatever was in her hand tightly. Luckily, it wasn't his leg. Her teeth did indeed look a little more like an animal. She had eight canines instead of four, the extras were next to the others, further towards the back of her mouth. "You have no ability to walk unless it is as still as possible, so bear the pain or consider yourself immobile!" She said in a practical snarl, turning her gaze back towards his leg and finishing her wrap. Indeed, all this time she spent in isolation proved she wasn't exactly fitting the standard Viking behavior... Didn't make her insane, it just looked like it by perspective. "I was sure the tools I had in my hand was a warning enough. I don't brace for decoration. And of course it's secure, this isn't the first time I've had to fix a broken bone." She replied, her tone calm now that the man was calm. "You're welcome though." Saga ended in a whisper, returning to the fire and building it's strength back. Just because he presented himself as dominant, or at least, his species had that reputation, didn't mean she'd allow herself to give up superiority. This was her territory, she was in charge... If she had to prove it, she would. . (edited)

Iona was definitely curious, leaning in and taking whatever scent was left on the dragon's body, especially around the wounds. Scent of various Vikings, used weapons to do just this, iron, sea water, tempered wood, and obviously blood. It only made her so much more curious. The cage was small on the dusk cutter, so to climb onto the top of it to get more scents... Once she felt satisfied, she jumped down from the bars, and began to 'speak' to him. Would he want the same medical care on his injuries, like that man wanted? It's not like he could fly... She even hinted at his freedom from the cage, by opening her toothless mouth, which glowed purple in the back of her throat.

It was hard to wrap around the thought that dragons had the same level of intelligence as humans. From his experience, they were anything but. The only thing they did well was hunt and kill. Iona just seemed to be the outlier in this situation. But, he didn't want to anger her more. He was already getting backlash from his outburst. The way she growled and showed her unnatural teeth only confirmed one thought. She's a dragon in human skin... No wonder this is easy for her. I'm a wee bit fucked. Be nice, Svend... The thought played in his mind as he watched her behaviors. So feisty one moment, then reclusive the next. Maybe Iona was the viking and Saga was the dragon? "The dragon outside is moving a lot... It's still in it's cage, right? And of course we had to use a cage. Else we would have been killed ourselves. We did what we were paid to do. Not all of us has the luxury to run with the dragons." It was obvious he didn't see running with dragons a luxury. But, he wondered if she ever had to work a ship or be responsible for the lives of others on an island. She had been here for a long time. Was her humanity replaced with the thoughts and ideals of dragon kind? It did seem she prioritized the dragon. Then again, he was the stranger in this situation. He would respect her rules as this was her territory and her land. He was only a guest here till he found a way off this damn island. Picking back up his bowl of soup from the table, he began to eat it. He felt he should finish eating it. Even if his stomach wasn't exactly pleased. Energy was important, even if his body was protesting it. He finished it off quickly, followed by a loud burp. "Ah, that was a good one." Vikings were not known for their tableside etiquette. He placed the bowl back onto the small table, followed by a content sigh. "I guess I should rest some more. Tomorrow, I'll try to move a bit more. Layin' in bed all day can't be good for anyone." -c-
08:31
Outside, the Duskcutter watched Iona with a confused look. It chirped and grumbled back a response before nodding to the cage. It wanted to be out of it's confines. To be a wild dragon again. However, he had no idea where he was. He looked to his own wounds and gave them a sniff. The offer to have wounds treated was a new thing. How would another dragon tend to wounds? And why did the other dragon smell like humans? With a snort, he agreed to treatment and being released from the cage. He was feeling pretty cramped in here.

"If you didn't cage it, it wouldn't need one. It's just how you approach an animal, you fool." She huffed, poking the fire from time to time now that the strength was back. "All animals, including dragons, react based on instinct and reputation. Men have a reputation of harming dragons or other large animals, so they react accordingly. It's not a luxury, it's common knowledge. Why do you think every land has enemies and allies? Even my old home has enemies." The burp was loud, and definitely disruptive to the type of conversation they were having, but, that's why it made it all the more pleasing. It was funny, and lightened the woman's mood greatly, even if she was still on edge. She couldn't help but giggle a bit and shake her head. "I wouldn't try. You remember your reaction, your leg isn't in great shape. Move around in bed, let it get better, at least enough to walk without screaming." Well, the light hearted and peaceful feeling disappeared the moment the plasma shot outside, melting a hole into the metal cage. What was Iona doing?? What was out there that could be hurting her?? Was the dusk cutter attacking?? Saga quickly stood up and ran outside, grabbing her sword on the way. Although, the sight made her stop. Her dragon broke the lock on the cage on purpose to free him. She immediately dropped her sword on the ground, and looked towards Iona. "What did you do?" She asked in a quiet, but clearly frustrated tone of voice, now looking back towards the bigger problem. Wounds, and a lot of them... There were holes in his wings, broken bones in the wings, blood, things she just didn't see in the darkness of the storm...

"Then I'll move around in bed... I'm going to go stir crazy being in this bed all the time." Svend was a stubborn fellow. He didn't like to be in one spot for too long. It was one of the reasons he took the ship job. A longing for travel and adventure was always in his heart. He just never expected it to come to this point. He always thought he would just die on the sea by fighting or drowning in his later years. A true, honorable death. One that would surely get him to Valhalla. Hearing a loud sound outside, he looked to the doorway. "What the hell was that?" Next thing he saw was that crazy woman running outside. Was someone out there? It was probably nothing, but he decided to sit silently and wait. Listening for shouts or sounds of danger. Little did he know was that the monster was let free. The moment the lock was broken, the Duskcutter pressed his way out of the cage. It stretched out three of the four wings and let out a pleased rumble. Shaking itself out, the pink spikes down it's spine and on it's tail wiggled with the sudden motion. The dragon looked down a bit at Iona, bowing it's head in appreciation. However, the gratitude was gone when it noticed Saga. The dragon's eyes became slits as it lowered itself to the ground and growled. Slowly it started to approach Saga, it's tail flicking back and forth in irritation. It was a wounded animal in this moment. Unpredictable and wild. Not yet trusting of humans. Who could blame him, though? He wasn't exactly treated well by them. Opening it's mouth, it let out a loud roar and bared it's fangs.

Iona smiled, near immediately, shaking her own wings and just getting excited. It had been a while since she interacted with a dragon, much less such a big one like him! She wanted to play now more than ever, but, a new problem came to be. Saga. Perhaps there wasn't a real good or bad time to show up, but it still felt like both the best and worst... It seemed to unfold in slow motion, and the dragon practically froze where she was... Although Saga wished she could've frozen, to do something that stupid would be her demise. So, instead of getting afraid, she went into action. If this dragon didn't understand Nordic, body language was her best option. She bared her own teeth, opened her mouth to hiss, but kept her body as relaxed as she could. Showing 'nervous aggression' like Iona, and most of predatory wild life taught her, was much different than real offensive aggression. Trying new things fast was especially important. Understanding Nordic was slim, but maybe there was a slim chance he'd understand something, even just the tone. The woman opened her mouth to speak, but, was quickly tackled, and thrown a few feet backwards. Yes, I would. I know I would be okay. Iona was entirely aggressive. Her wings were open like a shield for the human woman, ears were flat back, and her own eyes we're just as narrow. When there was a roar, she'd roar back, teeth showing and throat glowing purple. There was no speaking, just a clear warning.

There was a lot of sound outside. One was far too familiar. The Duskcutter. He knew that roar. The roar before someone was killed. Hissing out himself, he pulled himself out of the bed. He had warned that woman not to help that devil. But, it seemed her nor that dragon listened. Hobbling quickly, he made his way to the door and opened it to see what was going on. The Duskcutter was not expecting Iona to knock the human way and shield her. The dragon roared again at Iona, this time sounding confused and unsure. He stretched open one wing, while the broken one hung limp. It's other two legs acted more like front legs. He pounded the ground in front of him, trying to get Iona to back down. These dragons were more than capable of using flames like most others. However, it seemed to weak to make a single spark. Standing his ground, the dragon stared down Iona. He wasn't making a move to go after Saga now. Just more focused on Iona. Both confused and agitated that the dragon that freed him now was trying to protect one of those two legged pests. The webbing around it's head like a mane began to rise as a rock pelted it upside the head. Standing in the rain with all his weight on one leg was Svend. "Leave them alone, you overgrown lizard!" Svend was a great dragon tamer. Got to make himself look tougher than what he was facing. He let out a shout, sounding more like the dragons roar. His whole body ached, protesting every movement. But, he couldn't just let those two face this dragon alone. He didn't exactly have a plan, and it showed when the dragon started to charge at him. "Oh shit."

Another warning, this time, it was a plasma shot right in front of the dragon she challenged. Just because she showed mercy, doesn't mean she intended on letting Saga get hurt. Once again, after the shot, she roared at him, snarling and showing her unwillingness to back down. The night fury turned around to check on her human like a worried puppy, her pupils rounding out and smiling when she saw she was alright, laying on her side sitting up, and trying to stand. Why did inconveniences come time and time again? Didn't she tell Svend how to really approach a dragon?? None the less, his failure brought her enough motivation to get up off the ground and stand in front of him, her hands stretched out in front of her. "Wait! Stop for a wee bit! Nobody's here to hurt you, and this buffoon is just as hurt as you! If you stop trying to kill me, I can fix your wings. That's what you'd want, right? I'm sure that isn't the most pleasant feeling." She shouted, her voice quieting down with each sentence until it was a normal speaking voice. She didn't have any weapons, didn't show her teeth or show aggression, just spoke normally and stood in defense. She was risking both her arms for a chance she wasn't even sure would work, for a man she met in the middle of the night... The night fury was quick to her feet now, springing over to Svend and nudging him at his side with her nose. Her pupils were round, and her entire body was relaxed. His gesture earned the opportunity from her to begin earning her trust.

Holding up his arms to try and protect himself, he braced for impact from the dragon. Yet... it didn't happen. The strange dragon woman was in front of him. Facing the dragon and shouting at it. Was she mad? Did she really think that was going to work?! But... somehow it did. The Duskcutter skid to a halt in front of the woman and roared in her face. More of a tactic to scare than to maul. However, he wasn't expecting the viking to yell back at him. The dragon's head turned almost upside down as he tried to put together what the hell was happening. Why wasn't she moving? Why did she have no weapons? More importantly, why was the night fury that released him protecting both humans? With a grumble, the dragon backed up and growled at them. He had no trust with the two of them. But, it seemed he wasn't going to attack unless provoked. "How the hell did that work?" Svend mumbled as he looked around Saga, staring at the dragon that was now just sitting there growling at them. What was more surprising to the Viking was the night fury nudging him in the side. He looked to the Night fury, it's eyes rounded and relaxed. It was almost cute. Hesitantly, he gave the dragon a light pat on the head. He never would have dreamed of touching a dragon. But this woman somehow had found the key to training them. No, it went beyond training. It was some sort of understanding between them. One that carried on between dragon and person. "At least it's not trying to kill us... How did you do that? Is the trick to just yell at them into submission? Roar at them?" he inquired more as he kept his eyes on the upset looking Duskcutter. There had to be some sort of logical explanation as to why this tactic worked.

"Good boy, thank you." She said in a much calmer tone, taking off her cloak she wore in the rain saving them both and tossing it over to the dusk cutter. "You met that night fury right there, smell that, it smells exactly like her. She and I are friends... I'm sure she blasted a hole through the cage thinking we would get along just fine right off the boat. I can patch your wings up, if you give me a chance. Those holes won't heal right unless they're stiched." Casual talk, keep making calm noise while really speaking through her body. The whole time, she made motions to his injuries with her hand as she spoke, making at least some of her gesture known. This was her land, and she was sure this dragon understood that, and why she would defend what was on her land as well. If he was to be injured on her land, she was the one to make the offer to help or harm. Surely, he knew that as well as any other dragon. He could attack, but at the end of the day, the land belong to her until death. "You want to get out of here? Right? Work with me then." She said, lowering herself to kneel down and remove her jacket... The stress was making her a little hot. "I'll stitch up your wings, give you a few weeks here to heal and play with my dragon, and you can leave without another thought." Iona smiled open, her teeth retracted, at the attention she was receiving. If Saga placed faith in the stranger, of course, she'd treat him like family. That's why she protected him in the first place! "I told you, it's about approach." She replied, standing back up slowly once her coat was removed, keeping her eyes locked on the dusk cutter. "I knew nothing about dragons before Iona, and she taught me all the basics, plus, some behaviors of wolves are like theirs... He knows this is my land, and I'm alpha here. He's at a disadvantage with his injuries. I didn't attack him, I'm defending what's mine. If he knows he's not in danger, he won't attack... unless he's starving."
02:34
The woman, with her attention returning fully to the main problem, moving slightly to the side to show the brace on Svend, as presentation. "I can help you. You have to work with me... Quit trying to kill me and place some faith in me..." (edited)

The more he listened and watched, the more impressed Svend became by this woman. She wasn't getting mauled by the Duskcutter. The creature was more defensive and angry. Did Vikings have it all wrong? No no. He had seen many dragons far more wild than the one before him. Far more wild than the Nightfury that was smiling at him with no teeth. Why did it have no teeth? That was confusing to him. He swore that the Nightfury was supposed to have them. The Duskcutter twisted it's head left and then right, much like an owls with how much rotation it had. He was trying to make sense of the human before him. It was motioning to it's injuries, and then to the weird male standing with the other dragon. He made a grumbling sound as his pupils started to round, calming down because of the calm language from the woman. He lowered himself down, using two wings like arms to be on all fours. He then sniffed the cloak. It smelled like the Nightfury, and the human. Looking unsure, the Duskcutter hesitantly laid down in front of the woman. Watching each of her moves cautiously. His tail flicked side to side, like an apprehensive cat. His whole body tense, even as he laid there. Then finally, he lowered his head onto the ground with a huff. Looking as though he was going to allow her to get closer. "I'll be damned..." Svend mumbled as he continued to observe the two. He never saw a dragon submit to a human like this. A wild, injured dragon. In a way, he felt guilty for what state the dragon was in. He knew some of those injuries were from his own hands. His own weapons from trying to capture the beast. Now he wondered if the Vikings were the beasts? Folding his arms over his chest, he wondered how this was going to play out. "I'm surprised it didn't use it's fire against us... but what you say seems true. We don't threaten them, and they don't threaten us... So what do you do if a dragon does start to attack? We sure as hell didn't do anything to that Skrill that attacked -c-

the ship during the storm." He felt that was a valid argument with all things considered. Perhaps some species were more docile than others? That had to be the case with this one. He had seen Stormcutters and other subspecies far bigger than the Duskcutter before them. He wondered if maybe it wasn't fully grown? Adolescent dragons must be easier to tame. As he stood there, he continued to try to justify what he was seeing.

Saga dropped on her knees, closed her eyes and let out the biggest sigh of relief, almost as if she was going to cry. It worked... She hadn't had to do that in years, her fear was going to get the best of her if one of them didn't give. Now, with a new found confidence, she shuffled over to the dragon's face, gently laying her hand on his forehead, and the other in front of his. "Nobody's here to hurt you... I do things differently..." Well, he definitely had a point. To every rule, there was an exception. Just like some men were just malicious and blood thirsty, some dragons knew and enjoyed nothing more than violence, even if it was just for fun... "There's a saying, 'Cattle know when to go home, and then from grazing cease; but a foolish man never knows his stomach’s measure.' Some men love violence, and can't get enough after the first taste, there are some dragons that are just like that... It's easier to tame a younger dragon, and this boy looks young, but even the oldest can learn new things..." Iona learned into the attention, before dashing off suddenly into the cabin they all originally came from... It only took her five minutes to return with the same lenin rolls and long, thicker sticks for bandaging in between her teeth. She eventually dropped them by her human's side, and trotted right back over to Svend to stand beside, watching everything from the sidelines... "I'm sorry wee thing, I promise I didn't mean to scare you..." She said in a calm tone, giving her own dragon a little rub on the side for gathering what she needed to patch his wings. This might be a little bit of trouble to get around...

Svend slowly sat down onto the ground. It hurt to stand. The adrenaline of what had happened was wearing off. Due to this, he was starting to feel all the damages he had done. Moving around quickly like that was not the smartest decisions. However, he never claimed to be the smartest of vikings. Out of curiosity, he observed how she interacted with the dragon. She was quite wise with what she said. He had seen the cruelty of man and beast alike. He had seen men enslave men, and dragons control dragons. Perhaps she wasn't wrong with dragons and Vikings being one of the same at times. He gave Iona a pat just before she ran back into the cabin. Bringing out bandaging and sticks to tend to the larger dragon. "How young is that one? And is it a male? female? It's the closest I've been to it without it trying to rip my arm off, or roast off my ass." The Duskcutter seemed to rumble as she touched him. He was trying to make sense of these two. A female who spoke calmly, yet firmly... and a male who seemed protective and unsure. He could feel that the two were nervous. But, he himself was nervous about this all too. Laying still, the dragon carefully watched everything unfold. The bandaging and sticks were strange to him. He growled softly when Iona brought them over, as if questioning what they were for. He was used to humans having bindings and cages. Even with the dragon's protest, he continued to lay still. As if accepting his fate. He was tired. No energy to make a spark, let alone a flame. The pain also didn't help his mood as he stared at the woman with those glowing pink eyes. As if protesting with every fiber of his being about her being so close. Humans being close didn't equal good things for this dragon. "Isn't it a wee bit concerning that it's growling at you?" Svend asked, looking unnerved about this situation. He didn't like how close she was to the dragon's face. That's were the teeth were. -c-
08:34
Not to mention the nasty hook-like claws on the ends of the wings. It wouldn't take anytime for the creature to turn and attack. She would be a dead Viking. Yet, the dragon didn't seem to want to move. With Iona at his side, he reluctantly reached out to touch her side. He might as well make the most of it if the dragon was going to let him touch her. It wasn't like he got this opportunity often with a live dragon.

"He's a male, strictly by what I saw... Other than that I don't know much identification without the obvious... Or do you mean Iona? She's female, and around my age." Saga replied, gathering the sticks and linen cloth wrap. Now, she slowly moved towards the dragon's broken wing, pulled it out as gently as she could to create the same type of cast she did for Svend. "Mmm... He has a couple holes in his wings too," she whispered to herself, gazing along his wings while she braced the current one, "I'll need a needle and thread for that... You're so beat up..." Not now, she thought, he needs treatment, I can think while working. The brunette shook her head then and wrapped the brace as best she could with what little crossing room she had... A wing was so much harder than an arm or a leg... She sat back down by his head and rubbed along his scales, smiling in pride. So far, the stubborn thing was doing so well. "Huh? Bah, I'm not worried. He's big and scary but he's just as nervous as you are. I would be too if I couldn't escape. His wings being damaged like this is the equivalent of my legs snapping... He's just frustrated that a human has to help him, probably." She replied, looking down to make eye contact. Her eyes definitely didn't glow, she didn't possess night vision like he probably did, but her eyes were just as uniquely and dominatingly green as her own dragon's. Now, she moved on, heading back inside to gather the needle and wild cotton thread she was using to make an apron. It's new purpose was to close holes. Live tissue holes... Once she got back, with the main wing still out, Saga rubbed the area with her hand, before poking the needle on the top edge of one end, and beginning her work. "A dragon's loyalty is a big prize... I mean, look at her. Besides the clear obvious, I can get Iona's loose, shedding scales right off her back and make some well proofed leather armor out of it. If I had more iron, I'd make a weapon attachment..."

Svend took in all the information with a look of curiosity. She was able to tell so easily? All dragons of the same species looked the same to him. Then again, he didn't exactly sit and study them. As she worked on the dragon, he sat and observed with Iona. He was trying to make sense of this. Vikings shouldn't be able to do this... he thought to himself as he sat in the rain. The cool rain did feel pretty good to him. It also washed anything off of him that shouldn't be there. The duskcutter growled all the more as his wing was moved. It was painful to him. Why was she moving something that was injured?! The duskcutter watched every movement she made. It didn't seem like the human was trying to injure him further. Instead, the brace sort of helped. When she returned with the needle and thread, the frills around his head began to vibrate slightly. He didn't understand what the tool was for, or why she had it. It was strange, and smelled of human. As the needle pierced through the thin membraine of his wing, he grumbled. It didn't hurt him in the least. It was more of an annoyance. One that he decided to show by turning his head and lightly biting onto her leg. Not enough to cause any pain, but enough to show his displeasure of it all. Svend was a bit taken aback by her words, and the dragon's action. He honestly though the dragon was going to rip the woman's leg off. Just one tug, and her leg would be gone! "It seems you and Iona balance each other and benefit from each others company. But I don't know how that dragon will bring balance. Then again, I don't know much about how dragons work. Iron, however, I know how to work... Once I'm healed more, I'm more than happy to help smelt all that down. If you want help. Also, the dragon is biting you, if you haven't noticed. Are you not concerned about that?" He figured that Iona would defend her master if the dragon became violent. It was very obvious that the two had a strong bond. Though, the whole situation -c-
15:16
seemed very dangerous to him. Being close to any dragon would be sending alarm bells inside his mind. This, though, looked normal and natural to the woman with dragon eyes. With a grunt, he stood back up. Putting all his weight on his good leg. He figured he might be best inside. But a part of him also wanted to see how this would play out.

Saga leaned sideways to gaze past the wing and towards her leg for just a brief moment. She found the sight kind of funny. Her boots provided a bit of protection against just a couple of his teeth, but definitely not enough to prevent her from feeling it. He wasn't happy, this hurt and she knew it, but was she going to stop and ultimately render the poor thing incapacitated and handicapped? No. The dusk cutter can bite her to his heart's desire, these holes had to be patched. "Hmm? Oh I don't plan on keeping him, although, if he decides he likes staying with me, or even you, then there's nothing I can really do to stop it. A dragon will lay down their life for the people they deem worthy. If that's you, you don't really have an out." She giggled, breaking the thread and stitching up the significantly smaller hole on the same wing. "The bite? No not at all. If he wanted to hurt me, he had boundless opportunities before this one. It hurts and he's still confused. He's frustrated and biting me this lightly is how he wants to express it..." He smelts iron, perfect! "Thank the Gods, I've been needing iron work for ages, I just can't smelt or forge a thing properly. I hate working with iron or weapons, I just like using them. Everything is leather or wood, the only metal things I have are from either my arrival here or washed up ship wrecks, and that's only happened twice... Well, three times now... I'll need your expertise to help me make a weapon I've been wanting." God, she sure did talk a lot, was there ever a moment where she just took a break? Sometimes Iona wished she could speak just to ask her to shut up... Maybe that's because she was just really tired too... Better news now, Svend was standing, which clearly meant bedtime. So, she forced his hand on top of her head so he can stop walking looking that pathetic, and tried to herd him inside.

At least she wasn't in danger by her standards. "I see...That is different. Didn't know dragons did such a strange thing." Even though he was perplexed by this, he decided not to question it more. Instead, he just listened. He didn't seem to mind her talking. It was sort of nice to have someone willing to talk. He was going to be in bed for a bit. So to have good conversation was a must in his books. "I doubt he will want to be around me. I caused some of those wounds when he was trying to eat me." He couldn't imagine making a bond with a creature that tried to murder him. It seemed like something unnatural to do. Did he feel guilty for it? A little bit, but still felt justified enough not to apologize to the dragon. He didn't make the first strike toward it. Svend looked a little more perplexed when she spoke about him smelting iron. It seemed she needed quite a few things. It was the least he could do for the work she was doing for him. Equivalent exchange for helping him with his wounds, and keeping him fed. "I will do my best to make what you wish. I will also make you some tools to work the island. A metal tool is far better than a wooden... one?" His sentence was cut off thanks to Iona trying to herd him back inside. He was very much confused with his hand on the dragon's head, leaning a little against Iona to go inside. "You're dragon is weird!" he called back as he went through the doorway. The Duskcutter didn't understand these two Vikings at all. The talking, the herding... none of it made sense. He released the woman's leg, head turning 180 degree's to the right. The head movement of this dragon was very much owl-like in nature. Using quick movements to watch carefully for prey and danger. He looked back to Saga as she worked. With a huff, he laid his head back on the ground. His tail flicking back and forth behind him.

She giggled, shaking her head as she cut the thread off the hole she just stitched up, raising a brow at Svend. "And I almost cut your head off with a sword. Bonds can be made, the only thing stopping it is your rubbish attitude." She replied, twisting her leg a little in slight uncomfort... It was getting hard to hold her leg in one position this long without moving it... She nodded, rubbing her hand on the dragon's wing, avoiding the more sensitive parts. What beautiful scales he had, the colors were so beyond her understanding. How dragon's genetics worked to make art like that, she'd never comprehend. "Or stone, I've had plenty of that... It'll help me out quite a bit. Don't worry about a heat source, you're leaning on the best one." "You're just now figuring that out?" She asked with a teasing tone, laughing at her own joke... Afterwards, it only took but ten more minutes to patch up the other two holes on two other wings, before the dragon was free to roam the land. It was relatively small, but for two people and two dragons, it was much more than enough space. "There's a cave South of here on the island if you want to reside there for a bit... Inside is definitely warmer though... There are wild rabbit and sheep here too, eat the rabbit, I need the sheep." The brunette spoke calmly and casually to the dragon, patting his back. Now that her job was finally over, she walked back towards her cabin and inside, laying down on the floor and using her dragon as her pillow. Svend needed her bed more than she did, she stood by that.

Svend continued on to the bed and sat back down on it carefully. He sighed, feeling a bit embarrassed that a dragon herd him inside of the cabin. But, he did need to lay and rest. Even soaking wet. Not wanting to get the bed wet, he took off his wool-spun shirt that was ripped to shreds. He needed to make or get new clothing. Since there was no seamstress on the island that he knew of, he decided he would have to try his hand at fixing what he had. Or seeing if the dragon woman could help with such a thing. He then took off his pants, leaving on the wool undergarments beneath on. He was careful around the splint made for him. By the time she was done, he was already laying in bed under the furs. His clothing a wet heap on the floor beside him. He had fallen asleep, feeling more tired than before. Tomorrow was a new day, and a new adventure. The dragon did not understand a word the woman said. When he was patched up, he stood upright. Two wings acting like arms to keep him on all fours. He watched her go inside the wooden cave. He did feel a bit better, but tired. With a yawn, the dragon made his way to the treeline. He hunkered down beneath a tree not far from the cabin. Curling up into a ball to get rest himself. He was far too exhausted to travel much further than this. Nor was he hungry enough to hunt. Right now, he was like Svend. Needing rest and time to recover from their injuries.

How long has it been? Days? Weeks since when they first met? It took some thinking but it was around twelve days. Time like weeks were hard to keep track of here. A sun clock was only good for measuring the hours in a day, and a person could only keep track of so many days... Well, regardless of the time, the days they spent together weren't meaningless. Svend got plenty of new clothing from the wild cotton and wild sheep wool on the island, and Saga got her new weapons, spring loaded claws in her gloves, plus plenty to replace them... A two handed sword was so much work, these seemed easier and more convenient, not to mention how well it'd go with the leather scale armor she's been working on. An eye guard, and sealed armor too for when Iona digs! A blacksmith was the luckiest score she got in all ten years!! If anyone attacked now, she'd definitely feel unstoppable! Maybe soon she could try working with her night fury's venom... In all twelve days, the holes in the dusk cutter's wings had time to heal completely and get burned off, since he is fireproof, but the broken wing and leg? Not nearly enough time... He could fly, but not for long, and definitely not painlessly... The benefit was, he seemed to start warming up to them both! Definitely Iona, but the humans were the real shock. She spent all day that day gathering plants, hunting fish, sewing clothing, bribing the dragon to interact, ect., but nothing else mattered now other than testing out her refined armor and new weapons, including her bow and new iron tipped arrows. So, once sunset started, she got dressed into her light armor, gathered her weapons and hopped onto Iona's saddle. Guest or not, she often did her own thing... Unfortunately, Svend was stuck on ground, either watching or not.

The time had passed by so quickly for Svend. He became more accustomed to being on the island populated by two humans and two dragons. His leg had been healing wonderfully in the past week or so. He was able to walk on it by this time. Helping with tasks around the cabin. Especially blacksmith work. He adored working at the forge. It wasn't the most advanced thing he had seen, but it was workable. He even made adjustments to the forge so that it would work more efficiently for him. The cage had made for excellent material. He was able to make all that she desired, as well as a sword and dagger for himself. It felt nice in a way. He felt like he was repaying what he owed to her. Besides, she made him such nice clothing. Thick enough to keep out the cold, and resistant to the rain. But when working at the forge, he would keep his top off so not to overheat from the raging flames. Today was no different than the others. The forge became his primary obsession, along with busting up firewood for bot the forge and the hearth. These tasks involved mostly upper body work, so he didn't have to walk too far or hurt his leg more. The splint did most of the work to support his movements. As the sun was setting, he looked toward the cabin to see Saga getting onto Iona's saddle. He knew she loved testing out her new weapons. Smiling, he gave a wave to her as she took off. "She's something else." Shaking his head, he turned as he heard some rustling in the brush. The Duskcutter began to approach him. No doubt wanting a treat for the day. The Duskcutter had grown used to the two humans and other dragon. The humans gave him treats, and were treating his injuries. He made a grumbling sound as he approached Svend, his head twisting back and forth like a curious owl. He looked to the forge, watching the flames as they melted the iron inside. "I'm making bars with the remaining iron. Makes it easier to work with in the future." he explained to the dragon, using some tongs -c-
08:50
to pull out the molds he had made just for this task. He sat the molten iron onto a stone table off to the side to cool some. Satisfied with that, he motioned the dragon to follow as he limped toward the cabin. It took him no time to go inside and get some fish, bringing it out for the dragon. "Alright, just as we practiced. Sit." he stated, staring at the Dusckutter. The dragon sat down before him, it's tail flicking back and forth excitedly. Svend found it amusing how dog-like the dragon was. He tossed the fish to the dragon, watching as it caught it in the air and scarfed it down with a purr-like growl. He then approached the dragon slowly, putting the bowl of fish before him. As the dragon ate, Svend started to pet the creature's neck. To think just 12 days ago he hated the damn thing. "I wonder if we can fly together... like her..." He looked up toward the sky, watching for Saga.

Iona bounced around excitedly when her human laid down on her back, taking off at light speed the moment she said ready. Although her speed wasn't just as fast as a regular nightfury, it was still indeed a member of one of the fastest species of dragon. It was clear just how much she loved to fly, and even more so with the woman helping her. Providing her scales made it all the more fun. Speaking of, the armor was working just as Saga had desired. She could barely feel the wind, and the guards on her eyes made seeing so much easier to see. No more guessing now, they could be faithfully dependent on each other. Each movement was a test practically. Sharp turns, spinning, parachute, anything Iona usually did or might need to do was done and tested for conformation. So far, it was working splendidly. "Alright, one more test!" She shouted through her helmet, standing up on the saddle and pressing a small button on each of her hands. Small, sharp, sturdy iron claws sprung out of her gloves. "Time for target practice!" In a moment, she ran down her dragon's tail, and was flung into the air. She had no safety, no way to catch herself independently, but, that was how a partnership worked, right? Independent skills, dependency on another. Once she shouted "CUT!", Iona flew down to her human, whom grabbed onto the upright handles of the saddle, and dove right into the sand, a tunnel she had already built and burned into place a while ago... .
12:23
It didn't even take her but a moment to dig out of the ground, having the brunette in a squealing fit of excitement. She threw off her helmet, letting her braid fall, and clicking the buttons again to slowly retract them. "It worked!! It actually worked we didn't fall into the ocean!!" She shouted, just in time, since the Night fury tackled her straight onto the ground. "I should carve a staff! Have a handle on the bottom of your saddle! It'll make for easy drop offs!!" The woman squealed, as she was nudged over and over again, licked on occasion. Finally, Saga hugged around Iona's neck, and was hoisted up. "We have more than dull swords and stone tipped arrows now, real weapons. Nobody can threaten us now." She said, sighing in relief as she hugged her pet. It felt as though a great burden was lifted off her shoulders because of it.

He saw the dive down from the sky. It was quite amazing to watch, even at a distance. He heard the dragon starting to growl as he was petting it. His signal to stop as the dragon was now done eating the bowl of fish. He was surprised he was even allowed to touch the dragon at this point in his life. The first few days being on the island, he had little interest in the dragons. He was more interested in the blacksmithing, and watching Iona with Saga. It was only after watching how the two were sometimes one did he decide to give it a shot. These past 9 days he had been putting effort in creating some sort of bond. To see if Saga was right about this dragon actually being tamable. It wasn't easy, though. The dragon would growl when he got close. It wasn't until he started using fish to bribe the dragon that it actually wanted to get closer. Now, he was able to pet on the being. If only for a few moments. He had learned pushing the boundaries of a dragon got himself a wing or tail smack to the ground. Not the most pleasant of things. "I'll need to come up with some sort of name for ya... Can't just call you the beast, and Duskcutter." he mumbled as he limped back to the forge to organize the iron bars he already had finished. A tray full of sand with indentions made a great mold. It wasn't the most uniform of shapes, but it was useful. He walked over to his workbench, taking a seat on a stool so he could work with some leather. He was working on making a new bag for Saga. One that she could use for gathering, but also still attach it to the saddle she had for Iona. "Think she will like it?" he asked, looking over his shoulder at the dragon looming. The Duskcutter edged closer to sniff at the leather. He made a grumbling sound, not understanding what the animal hide was for. He snorted a little, smoke rolling from his nostrils. Enough to make the human start to cough. Not seeming to care he caused the lungs of the human some irritation, he turned to look -c-
11:51
back at where the female dragon and woman had landed. He had been very confused by that relationship. A human and a dragon. This human seemed to be trying to do the same thing. Flicking his tail, he started to walk toward the beach. Flying was easier, but also painful still. Too much effort right now. "Thanks for your opinion, ya brute!" Svend called out to the dragon after clearing his throat.

Now, the woman examined just where this handle would go. It didn't seem like a bad idea at all. The only worry she had is if it would hinder her dragon's ability to dig... No, it shouldn't! A thin iron bar bent to be a handle shouldn't do much at all. "I'll have to think further. It might not be needed at all." She finally said, dusting her armor off from the remaining sand once her focus was finally removed from her sudden idea. It worked like a charm. Sure, there was sand on the outside, but nothing inside. It was sealed just as she had wanted it to be. Iona's attention was quickly taken away somewhere else, however. She quickly hopped towards the dusk cutter she had grown to enjoy, and bounced around with him towards the beach. She even went as far as to jump in one of the holes of her tunnel system and pop out somewhere in front of him, treating their journey like a little game. Perhaps her first impression was misleading, but deep down she just was a bit of a puppy towards people she deemed important. Saga just laughed at her sudden take off, picking up her helmet from the ground and walking towards her cabin. "The 'crazed' thing really seems to be warming up to us a bit." She chuckled, using one of the names Svend called the dusk cutter as a joke to play around with him a bit. "And the claws work wonderfully, as well as the spring contraption. Those handles you made for her saddle too, those are so much better." The brunette kept going on and on about his help, praising him for every little thing he's made. Truly she appreciated his help, she wouldn't have been able to do it without him! She felt much safer now that he helped her where her skills lacked. .
12:35
"I'm almost done building you a decent sized boat. Once I've got it all sealed tight, the sail positioned right, and a hearty amount of supplies, consider yourself a free man. Take what you like from here as well, anything you made, or I made for you. I know you don't exactly want to stay here." She said, while she stripped the armor off her and hung it up accordingly. She wore a simple tee, pants and her leather boots below it.

The Duskcutter looked puzzled as Iona ran at him. He stopped in his tracks, watching her jump into a hole in the ground. Curiously, he went to investigate only for her to pop up out of another hole in front of him. Startled, he bapped the top of her head with a wing. Like a deranged dragon version of whack a mole. He wouldn't hurt Iona in the least, but it did show his surprise. Lifting his wing, he would look to see if Iona was under it. Making grumbles and clicks, as if asking if Iona was ok. Svend only shook his head, giving Saga a strange look. Soot all over his face and torso from working the forge, and the surprise from the Duskcutter. He was not too pleased about inhaling dragons breath mixed with smoke. "Maybe I should call him Crazy Brute at this rate... He's warming up to us. I pet him perhaps a second longer than yesterday." He placed his elbow on the table, propping up his head on his fist. He was glad to hear about the claws working, and that the handles for the saddle were stronger. It made him feel a bit proud about all his work. He never got this kind of recognition on the boat. Sure, they had him repairing weapons and other things. But not once did they actually gave him this kind of praise. It was enough to make the viking blush a little. "Ah, you're too kind. I'm paying you back for saving my ass. I'd be dead if it wasn't for you." he stated, giving her a warm smile. One that turned to shock at her next comment. A boat for him to leave? This caught him offguard. Sure, he didn't like the idea of being on an island with a dragon-crazed woman, and her pet. But now, he got to do what he loved. What he enjoyed most of all. He even had plans to upgrade the forge! Standing up, he said, "Wait a minute. Where have you been hiding a boat? It's a generous offer... but a whole boat for me to leave? What of you and your dragons?" He knew she could very well take care of herself. She had proved that more than thrice over. She was skilled, and that -c-

dragon wasn't something to sneeze at either. He looked to his project on the workbench, and then to the forge. Did he really want to leave this behind? Sure, this didn't make money. But here he didn't need money. He had nothing but time. However, he did have on good idea for the boat. A way to get more supplies. "I also can't leave yet. Your forge is lacking and needs upgraded, or it won't last you another year or two. I can make it better. Not to mention I have projects to finish before I leave." he stated, having that stubborn look about him.

The wing definitely surprised her too, like a blanket masking a good amount of light from her eyes, even if it only lasted a moment. She, instead of responding, dove back into the hole and started digging a new tunnel, so she could pop out at him in a different direction. THAT'S when she responded with a pleased groan. Of course she was alright, digging was what she did! She didn't know how to fly so she had to learn some method of safe travel! "No need to pay me back, you've done plenty as is." She replied, now migrating from her simple armor stand, over to her fireplace. She was definitely hungry after all, why not cook something? Into the cauldron she had since he arrived, she chopped up what she found and grew herself. Green onions, tomatoes and a lot of them, cilantro, salt and various other things she found. To top all of it off, she poured one of the buckets of water she got that morning, and lit the fire. "I haven't been hiding a boat, you just didn't find it." Well, that wasn't untrue. If Svend couldn't find the boat, there was no proof she was hiding it in the first place. "I've been living here for ten years in solitude and I plan to continue living here until it's my time to cross into Valhalla. You don't need to worry about the crazy dragon lady." She replied with a knowing smile, using a carved stick to stir the pot, mashing and grinding until everything started to combine. "I know you think I'm crazy still, staying here might drive you as mad as I. Why would I keep you here? I gave that dusk cutter the option to leave when he's better, I give you that too." .
16:17
Once again, Saga started to belly laugh. He was being so nonsensically stubborn and for what? He was practically bound here by his ankle because of an injury, why wouldn't he want his freedom? "I hardly know how to use the blasted thing, it was practically decoration in my home, if you gave me upgrades it'd be wasted on me, and your projects aren't necessities, so you can pack them up and finish when you return home. You can have your freedom, there's no reason why you can't."

The Duskcutter was confused when he saw the dragon gone from under his wing. But, he could hear her. She made that pleased sound, and he could hear digging! Leaning forward, he looked down the hole to see where she had went. Then she popped up in another direction. He let out a startled yelp, then a grunt. He lifted his tail, spikes tucked inwards to make almost like a club. With almost a smirk, he brought his tail down to try and bop her on the head to get back at her. The dragon was playful with Iona. Curious about how she worked, and why she dug all these weird holes. Svend on the other hand was curious himself about Saga. He followed her over to the fireplace to watch her start cooking something. It smelled nice. It was one of the skills he lacked in severely. He was no cook. The most he could do was roast meat and vegetables on a spit or firepit. As far as the more complex things, Saga had him beat by a landslide. "I couldn't find it? I didn't have the inkling to look for one..." he stated simply, watching her with folded arms. He found her very strange at times like this. She wanted to be in solitude with the dragons? It made no sense to him. As much as he was nonsense to her, she was to him as well. It almost felt like she wanted to get rid of him in his eyes! "I am grateful for the offer. But, I have no way home. My home is the sea, and has been since I was a lad. Not by choice, but by what the gods fate decided." Of course she would not know. It wasn't like he spoke much about himself or his past. He was a forward thinker. Always focused on what could be done in the moment, and what he could make in the future. The past, to him, was a dead one. He pondered over the thought of having a boat of his own. But he would be manning it alone. Where he could go would be endless, but out there he would need money. And a way to make it. He looked toward the doorway. The echo of the dragons playful roars made him feel guilty. -c-
19:46
Could he really return to that life? Hunting down the dragons after what he had seen now? Or would he be a fish monger. No, that didn't seem right either. He didn't find joy in such labors. He looked back to the forge. Perhaps he could become a blacksmiths apprentice? That sounded more appealing, but where would he go? He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck with his right hand. He looked to her with a softer look. "I will have to think about it. For now, I need to keep healing. Then we can talk more of boats and leaving. I am content with things now. I enjoy working this forge of yours."

She almost instantaneously jumped down into her tunnels and dug in another direction, burning the dirt into place while she dug. Once again, popping out of her new hole, and shaking the dirt off her head and onto the dusk cutter, then flapped her plates open and shut to knock out anything left. Indeed, she was having fun, and was more than grateful to have a new friend. Saga was her best friend, but having a dragon around was really nice too. "Well, I can always show you where it is, that way, once you're healed and ready, you can make your journey. I mean, my home island is west of here, maybe a little north too. It's been a while since I've sailed there." She replied, stirring now what began to thicken up into a tomato soup. It didn't have everything, but it was enough to sustain them for a solid meal. "You sound like you truly don't want to leave." Saga wasn't a woman to start drama. Of course, she lost the Viking mannerisms a long time ago, and was more dragon than Viking, but she didn't start anything out of the blue. All she knew was Svend still believed she was a crazy, wild woman, and wouldn't enjoy his life being here. It didn't hurt her, it was just what she believed was the truth. Why he was so adament about staying now?? That's what confused her. "You don't, have to go..." The brunette mumbled in a soft tone, with her eyes locked on her pot. "I just thought, that's what you still wanted. You had that look when you first washed up here." She continued, still speaking quietly. Perhaps it was embarrassing to suggest he could stay, but if that's what he wanted, why stop him? He helped her, and provided a lot of it... It's not like he was wasted air staying around here. .
20:13
"I'll go put this in the boat." Saga said, grabbing a coil of rope and heading straight out of the cabin. The look he gave her before speaking that last sentence made her feel bad for even suggesting such things. Like she really wanted him to stay, PAST his usefulness to her... "Odin, what am I thinking? He's still a dragon hunter, and I know he still thinks I'm crazy and unhinged. Why would I want him to stay??" She spoke to herself, huffing in frustration... Yet, that all went away quickly. Very, quickly. The boat, where's the boat? She only had her dagger on her belt she can't defend herself if there was a Scauldron or a big dragon that ate the canoe! She quickly turned around and whistled for Iona, loudly. Undoubtedly the entire island could here such a strong whistle. Iona chirped up from the newest hole she made in this whack-a-mole game, scrambling out of it and running towards the source, right past the open cabin door. The whistle was an urgent one, something was wrong...

"That would be fair. I'd like to see this boat before considering anything. I don't mind this life. I do not have to fight dragons, and I do not need to worry for coin. However, it would be nice to have a way to get new supplies." The island only had so much. It wouldn't hurt to have the boat for transport to other islands. Even Saga's home island wouldn't be a bad spot to stop and get things. Especially metals for the forge. Trading would be the best way to get supplies. They had enough on the island to make cloths and tools that would be beneficial to any island. As she spoke about him not having to go, he smiled a little. It seemed she might not want him to leave after all. "Aye, go put that on your mystery boat. Tomorrow I'll come look at I know a thing or two about boats. I'll make sure I won't sink if I used it." It was meant to be a tease, as evident by the coy smile and more playful tone. He watched her go, before making his way to the workbench to put away some of the items so they wouldn't get damaged. "I should get cleaned up before eating..." he mumbled to himself as he noticed how dark his hands were from work. He also had a bit of soot on the floor from the forge. Might be better to move the forge into it's own shelter. Something to think about later. As he was about to head out the door, he heard the whistle. That wasn't the usual call for Iona. It sounded more sharp, and alarming. He poked his head out the door and saw the Nightfury already running. That didn't look like play either. Grabbing his sword, he moved as quickly as he could in the direction the dragon went. He didn't know if Saga brought a sword or not with her. Maybe a stray dragon was on the island? Even the Duskcutter was alarmed by this sound. He had been enjoying the whack-a-dragon game more than he thought. But now his partner was running toward the loud sound. He looked toward the cabin and saw the other human moving in the direction. With a huff, he followed after -c-

to see what the hell was happening. Meanwhile, three men were hauling off the vessel. They all looked rough for wear. Clothes tattered, and hair in messy braids. They were dragging the vessel on a makeshift sled away from where they found it. "Cap'n... This boat isn't ready yet. Couldn't we have waited a wee bit longer before we took it?" asked one of the men. "No... It does not need much work. It is untelling when that dragon woman will find us... or one of the dragons will. With the three of us, we can finish it tonight." The captain responded, pulling from the front of the rope. Hearing the whistle, he cursed. "We can't let them take this damn boat. If they come for it, be ready... we can also release... it" They were three survivors from the shipwreck. Living in hiding on the other side of the island. Using caves and the woods to keep cover from the dragon flying around. But they also had another secret weapon. A dragon. The skrill that attacked the boat had washed up with them on the island. They used chains and an old cage that washed up to contain the creature. They had been feeding and watering it. To keep it alive. If they sold it, it would make a lot of money. But if they had to, they would release the feral dragon to fight off their opponents.

Orders were followed, and Iona did as she was told, changing direction and flying over her island. It was so big, and to search it all would be intensely time consuming... It was a job they had to do, but great Odin was it dreadful. The hours felt like years spent flying back and forth in the air, but, something caught Iona's eye, and Saga followed. "I knew it, damn leeches." She hissed, taking her bow out, as well as an arrow lit just then by her dragon, and firing it right at the men. The burning arrow stuck right into the deck of her canoe. "FIGHT YOUR FOES IN THE FIELD, NOR BE BURNT IN YOUR HOUSE!" It was the dragons time now. Iona rushed over to shore as fast as she could, having her human immediately mounting the saddle. "Head towards the cabin!" Saga shouted, the night fury taking off into the air. She tossed the rope down to the male from the air. "Someone stole the boat! Figure out how to ride the dusk cutter and give me air support! If it doesn't work out, I don't know do SOMETHING." With that, they both flew off at high speed towards the cabin, quickly dismounting as soon as she arrived, and buckling on all of her armor. This was new, all of her equipment was brand new, she didn't have enough time to really get a feel for all these contraptions, but it was better now than not having them ready in the first place... Finally, she armed herself with her new sword, and her bow and arrows, jumping back onto her dragon's back. "Ready to fly?" The woman asked with a smile, sliding her helmet on and flipping the guard over her eyes. The nightfury smiled at her words, stepping in place a bit, before she took off into the air with a loud roar. This was HER home, she was going to protect it with everything she had. In the dead of night like this, there wasn't a force on earth that could stop her. Saga jumped onto her feet once the flying became level, standing on all fours, with a hand gripping a handle tightly, as the surrounding ocean was examined... "See anything?" She asked quietly, with her dragon shaking her head. The boat had to have been stolen. There wasn't any other possiblity... Well, besides a massive dragon eating it. "Keep looking, stay hidden... I've got your back." The ocean was barren of anything on the surface. Her boat was indeed gone. But, this was her land, and she wasn't going to give up just because she couldn't find it in one area. "Turn around and search the land top to bottom. Now I'm certain someone's here..." .

Ride the duskcutter?! Svend looked surprised that she would suggest such an act as he caught the rope in his arms. He looked to the dragon who was now paused beside him. He had been working on getting some sort of trust with the damn thing. Maybe... it would work? He threw the rope over a low lying tree limb. He could retrieve it up later. Right now, she needed support. "Alright... let's see what we can do. Easy now." he stated as he moved closer to the beast. He placed both hands at the base of the dragon's neck. Where strong shoulder muscles met with the thick neck of the beast. Applying some pressure, the dragon looked back to him with a soft growl. "You want to help yer dragon friend, right?" he stated, getting a huff in return. Perhaps the dragon did know more words than he thought. Knowing he had to do this quick, he decided now or never. With a push of his arms, he leveraged his body up and over the dragon. His injured leg going over first while his other leg was used as a counter balance to keep himself from following the momentum. No different than mounting an ox or a horse. Then again, he had never tried to ride either of those animals. Now on the dragons back, he placed his hands forward to hold onto one of the spikes jutting from the neck. "Huh... I did it. See that's not so... HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD!" His last word came out in a yell as the dragon suddenly took off into the sky. The four wings made a sound tantamount to that of a rapidly beating heart. Or was it the sound of his own heart racing in his chest. The Duskcutter was challenging the human. Even though his muscles ached from using his injured limbs, the beast was not going to let just any Viking ride him. He roared out and flew in circles rapidly, causing poor Svend to holler obscenities into the sky. By the time Saga was flying by, the dragon was doing corkscrews in quick succession. Svend held on with both his legs and arms. Fighting to stay on top of the crazy flying dragon. -c-

Saga failed to tell him how to ride a dragon. He had seen her do it dozens of time. Especially after getting all that new armor and saddle. But he never really asked her how to do it. It seemed easy enough. Hop on. Hold on. And prey to the gods that the dragons listened to you. So, that's what the human did. After what felt like forever, the dragon finally slowed it's flying and leveled out. Svend felt nauseous. "You damn monster. Why would you do this? We have important gag things to do. This is worse than any boat sickness I've seen." He was dizzy, irritated, and had no idea where Saga had went. He pat the dragon on the side of the neck and said, "Go find Iona and Saga. And no more twists and turns." Surprisingly, the dragon followed the request? Or, somewhat. It didn't twist and turn in the air, but flew around the island. Unknowing to Svend, the Duskcutter was following the patterns that Iona did. Following the scent through the air, making unhappy grumblings about the Viking on it's back. The Duskcutter felt that maybe Iona would know how to get it off. Meanwhile, the three viking-teers had gotten the boat to their hideout. Sitting outside a small cave that had been hidden by brush they had gathered to keep the entrance out of view. But the boat was an eyesore. Hard to keep covered due to the size. One of the men was sitting outside when they heard a thump. He looked over and saw the lit arrow. "Me boat!" he exclaimed as he hopped up, drawing a cutlass from a makeshift holster on his hip. He looked upwards and saw the woman on the dragon, and they looked pissed. "Cap'n! Fjord! We got company! Dragon lady!" he called out as he ran to take cover in the tree's. He figured that the dragon would have issues in the tree's, and he could get a good footing. Another man, Fjord, slipped out of the cave, a spear with a flint tip in hand. He would throw the spear with all his might. It had enough force behind it to get to where the dragon was. If the dragon -c-

did not move, the spear would attempt to rip through the lining of it's wing to down it. If it did dodge the spear, the makeshift weapon would fall down to the ground for the man to retrieve. As this was happening, the Captain stayed inside the cave. Next to the caged skrill. "Those numbskulls... if they fail, you will be our scapegoat. Right my little pet?" he stated, giving the dragon a pet on the head while it growled. He knew the thing was wild. But at least it would attack anything in it's path. For now, he would wait to see if his followers would be able to deal with the annoyance outside.

Saga was still wild, and indeed had a big thing for drama. If she could do it, indeed she would for intimidation. A spear flying at her was just the perfect thing to show off... Instead of dodging it, or telling Iona to grab and bite, instead, she jumped up onto her feet upon her dragon's back, snapped her new claws out, ran onto the base of her wing and flipped right off. With one strong slash, and help from sharpening them, she had cut the spear into five pieces, three being the spots in between her fingers. Iona had no problem taking the sky for herself, she knew that. Her split plates allowed for better maneuverability in tight areas, sure, but she was still a big dragon, she couldn't fly that fast through they much... So, Saga took the ground, with a little help from her winged pet to land. Her feet were planted on the ground, it was showtime now. Claws still drawn, she took her bow back out once more and popped an arrow on the string. The silence was heavy, and brought more anxiety than any battle cry she could ever imagine. Where is that slimy bastard..? Quietly she started walking through the dark forest, guided by the light of the moon, and the only sound to beat in her ears, was the faint noise of the nightfury flying through the air to block the stars. The minutes Saga spent searching were the longest minutes of her life, before she finally found one of the invaders. She didn't hesitate to fire that arrow right into his shoulder, take the bow and clock him right in the side of the head like baseball... Of course, he was fighting his death, and it annoyed her to no end. The woman slid the helmet off with one hand, and hissed right at him like an animal, teeth showing and all. Finally, she just fired and arrow right through the lung for a slow death. She was filled with blind rage now that her home was being raided. .

"Odin is with me!" Her voice bounced from low to high, lifting her bow in the air to celebrate her victory, putting her helmet back on for full coverage. Now she was behaving like the savage Svend thought she was initially. Wild and unhinged, protecting the only home she thought was her permanent refuge. The exiled chieftess moved forward, progressing through the woods with her head set for victory. Now she was continuously looking for anybody else. She heard one voice call at the start, but the man she took down was another voice... Again, she whistled for Iona to come to her aid, and in little time, she burst out from the ground and to her aid. Now the search began. "LEAVE MY LAND IN PEACE, AND MY ARROW WILL SHOW MERCY!"

One down. The body made an audible thump when it hit the ground. Loud enough for the man hidden among the tree's to hear. The man took short, soft breaths. His sword held tightly in his right hand as he waited. Listening for the woman. He could hear the death rattle, even from this distance, of his crew mate dying. We are going to die here. To a dragon woman and her pet! he thought, clenching his eyes shut as he heard the whistle and rumbling of earth. "We are trying to leave you crazy woman! We washed up here!" the man called out before using the brush to move location. He had to get closer. The Nightfury would sell for more than the Skrill. It looked tame... maybe that would be an easy taking? He nearly crawled along the floor as he moved among the brush. Being as silent as possible. Moving ever closer to her location. But she wasn't the target. The dragon was more of a threat to him, and he thought he could possible take it for himself. He saw them in his sights and carefully moved closer behind the dragon. If not spotted, he would place both hands on Iona's back and try to climb on. In his mind, the dragon was friendly to humans and he could just ride it away. Meanwhile, the Captain in the hidden cave was listening to what was happening outside. One of his crew was down. And he heard the shouts of the other. They were going to die if he didn't do something to protect them from the dragon woman. "I'm losing money if I do this..." he grumbled as he looked to the cage. They had to get away from this savage woman. He unlocked the lock and quickly opened the door. He then unlocked the chain bindings from the side of the cage. Now that the skrill was free, the dragon rushed from the cave with a loud shrill. The skrill was confused, hungry, angry, and scared as it looked around the outside. It didn't know where it was at, nor did it want to be there. It turned it's head quickly as it heard voices. With wings outstretched to make itself look bigger, -c-

static bounced around it's body. Opening it's mouth, it would shoot a blast of electricity into the woods. It had stored up electricity from the large storm that sunk the boat. The lightening strike would hit one of the tree's near Iona and Saga, causing it to fall. It's wings began to flap as it took off toward the air to get a better view. That's when it saw Svend and the Duskcutter. "Are you sure you know where you are going?! We've flew around this whole damn island!" Svend exclaimed over the roaring of the wind as the dragon flew around. The dragon grumbled, as if mocking him. He couldn't believe the audacity of this dragon! He had not a clue where Iona and Saga had gone. His thoughts were soon interrupted as a Skrill shot up from the forest, and made eye contact with them. "Ohhh fuck me!" he yelled as the Duskcutter began to dive to avoid an electrical blast from the Skrill. He wasn't sure about this whole flying thing. He didn't know the first thing about aerial combat. He held onto the Duskcutter as it roared out at the Skrill in a challenge. Threatening the Skrill if it did not leave. "Don't just yell at the Skrill! Fight it! Fire... You can use fire!" he said to the Duskcutter. As if the dragon understood him, the dragon's mouth opened and a steady stream of fire erupted from the beast's maw. He could even feel the heat of the flames from where he sat at the base of the neck of the dragon. It was quite fascinating to see, and it did make the Skrill flee down to the forest. "whoa. Alright, that was something. Good job there. Let's go after it. Can't have it mucking up the island. And I think I see Saga and Iona down there!" He only caught a glimpse of the Nightfury through the gaps of the tree. "Go down? Land?" He grunted as the Duskcutter dived down to land in front of the Skrill so it wouldn't go any closer to Iona and Saga. The dragon bared his teeth, the four wings outstretched to make himself look more intimidating to the Skrill. -c-

Taking this opportunity, he slid off the side of the dragon so he could go provide support for Saga and Iona. Not that they needed it from what he was seeing.

Washed up? Is this a part of that crew Svend was with..? NOW her mind was racing... If these men were aggressive, did that mean her so called friend was too? Was he playing innocent? Did he actually successfully have her fooled, and this whole time, she just helped?? As if it wasn't already done, she became angrier just at the thought, drawing an arrow and firing wherever the voice had come from, of course, hitting nothing. Then, she threw her helmet off once more and cried a higher pitched roar, her voice breaking every so often. "LIAR! I'M NO FOOL!" Even this type of wild was starting to worry the offspring of lightning and death itself... Iona pushed Saga at the side, knocking her, not only off balance, but out of this trance of anger. Once that happened, her humanity returned quickly, not to forget the massive lightning bolt cracking through the air above her. "The Skrill... Iona! Take me up there!" Her helmet popped right back on, and she climbed right onto the saddle. As if things couldn't get messier, she hovered right above the second man, that had tried to nab her dragon... Instead of killing him, she just hissed at him in an aggressive posture, before flying out. If one more thing after this went wrong, she might just die. Svend was running around the woods with the little knowledge he had on it, and for what? The dusk cutter was on his side... Her thoughts from before just made her angry once more. So, Iona flew down to meet him, but instead of saying anything, she jumped off Iona mid air, drew her bow and hit him square in the jaw with it. "THESE are your men?? Look at what they're doing! This is my home! Are you on their side?? Was the whole washing up on my shores and becoming my friend just a trick?? Trying to trap me and Iona?? I want ANSWERS, Svend!"

Svend and the Duskcutter stayed facing the Skrill as it roared and sparked. But it didn't seem to be backing down from the Duskcutter's challenge. If the two fought, he worried that they would both be furthered injured. The Skrill didn't look to be in the best of shape. He doubt that however it got here it must have been traumatic. At this point, he had no idea that other humans were on the island. Not until Saga hit him square in the jaw and went on about these men. The random attack did startle him and made him stumble back from her. "What the hell is wrong with you, woman?!" he exclaimed, rubbing the spot with an pissed off look. He was very confused by her words. Their side? Trick? Trap? He was lost by what she was saying. "What answers? I came to help you with your boat problem. I rode this dragon. What do you mean by trick? And what men? I only see a Skrill here. Also, why would you hit me?! Are you going mad?" he exclaimed, his face a little red from anger. No sooner did he hear a voice, "Svend! By the gods, you are alive too!" Svend looked toward the voice and saw a familiar face. "Arne? How are you... Why are you here?" asked Svend, looking all the more confused. "Why are you with that crazy woman! She killed Fjord! Get away from her before she kills you too!" The man, identified as Arne, kept his distance and sword drawn. Glaring at the woman who killed his companion. "She's a savage. Kill her and we can take these dragons to sell." "No. I will not kill her. Are you hearing yourself? These dragons aren't what you think they are. Saga, did... you kill someone with them?" He held a torn and hurt look on his face. He road on the seas with these men. They laughed, sang, and drank booze together. Fought together. His thoughts were interrupted as the Duskcutter and Skrill charged at each other. The two began biting and clawing at the other to prove their worth. This alarmed Svend and he said, "We should move away from them if they -c-

The voice did not do one ounce of good for her mentality. She was already half insane from her fear, hearing the voice of the man she let go didn't make anything better. So, when she heard it, she immediately whipped around with her bow and arrow drawn, but yet again, she didn't fire. She spared his life for a second time. "Yes I killed one of them, he tried to tear Iona's wing when she was flying, he threatened my life, and they're invading my home with violence! Who's side are you on, Svend!? You're lucky I didn't kill this one too!" She snapped her gaze swapping between her so called friend, and the threat in front of her. He was... Torn. He couldn't pick a side, he was indecisive on who to fight with, and such indecisiveness just made her disheartened... She thought he was a friend. "You're not who I thought you were, Svend... Pick a side, I won't fight with you until you do so... You all are invaders." She ended in a calm, low tone, putting her weapons back in their spots, climbing onto her dragon and taking off into the air. Unlike him, she needed to step into the fight. The Skrill needed to be taken down one way or another, and if that be the power of a night fury, so be it. They were both fire proof anyways, and Iona had lightning on her side as well. With her feet buckled down securely, and a sturdy grip on the handles, Iona hadfthe freedom to fight without much worry. So, she bared her claws into the back of the Skrill in mid flight, and threw it away from her friend, roaring in protectiveness to both her territory, and the dragon it was once fighting. "Take him on, bear! Lean over to the dusk cutter, I'm going to help him!" She said, with her designated nickname for her dragon, and indeed, when she got close enough, she ran across Iona's tail and jumped onto the dragon's back. "I know you don't trust me, but you're going to have to now! Svend doesn't know who he trusts... Help me find their leader. Surely it's not just two men... Find him." ---
01:49
--- She whispered, taking hold of whatever was most secure. This dragon was too injured still to be fighting this hard, even if they were almost healed. That broken leg surely couldn't be doing him much good at all...

The man, Arne, lifted his sword in defense as Saga aimed her bow at him. "You fired your arrow first, you wench! Svend, get your shit together. The Captain's going to be pissed if you let those dragons go. You're our best hunter. You know better than this." said the man, keeping his stance. He looked far more confident now that Svend was there. Svend looked between the two. Pick a side? He wanted him to pick a side? He knew Arne was only adding fuel to the fire. He heard the roars of the dragons behind him. Saga joining her own dragon to take on the Skrill. He drew his blade and looked at it. Dragon hunting was very profitable to him... but he had other passions. Passions he couldn't pursue on the ship unless tools or weapons got damaged. It was the only time he was allowed to create with his hands. He looked up and saw a figure seeming sneaking up toward the fight with a bow. He only barely noticed the glimmer of the steel tipped arrow. It was then he realized what Arne had meant. The Captain was here, and didn't seem to think that he was a threat. It was then he made his choice. "Of course. I'm a dragon hunter." He walked over to Arne, which made him lower his guard. He then used the hilt of his blade to hit the man hard in the back of the head, causing him to fall. "Saga! Behind you! My old Captain is here!" he called out, knowing he wouldn't have time to get to the man in the distance before that arrow went flying. He looked down to the unconscious man before him. This man had drank with him, but had also hindered his growth on the ship. He knew they couldn't allow this man to live here. Or let him leave and tell others about the dragon. Meanwhile, the Duskcutter roared at the Skrill once Iona threw it away. He was limping a bit more, but was doing his best to show his strength. He held out his wings to make himself look bigger. Up until the female human got on his back. He looked back to her with a side-eye, a deep growl rumbling in his chest. He -c

shook his whole body and backed away. As if contemplating to follow the orders or not. But he also heard Svend yelling those human words. He sniffed the air and smelled the other man. He moved down to all fours, using two wings like arms as he faced the man in the distance with the arrow. The Captain cursed and decided to let the arrow fly. His aim right at Saga's chest. If it hit, it would no doubt pierce through her armor with that metal tip. If it got through the armor, it would pierce her lung and make it hard for her to breathe. Even if the attack hit or miss, the Captain would move behind the tree just in time to avoid a stream of fire coming at him. "Svend! You're a traitor!" he yelled out.

This battle happened so fast, and unfortunately she was out of practice in this pace ever since she was exiled. A peaceful life had it's cons, after all. Once the arrow came flying at her, she had barely enough time to react, just enough to turn away from it, pierce through her armor and breast, and barely pierced the front of her lung. Her armor was fire proof, not force proof. Saga screamed the moment it did so, stumbling on the unsteady surface she was on and fell straight on her side. Luckily, she had a dusk cutter in front of her, she could count her blessings that her lung wasn't pierced for internal bleeding thanks to her breast, but it didn't make her situation any easier. She was hit, and hit somewhere extremely painful. If she called Iona, the Skrill was free, if she asked for the Dusk cutter's help, the captain was sure to kill them both. This was a situation she had to handle herself. Even though Svend helped her realize danger, she didn't trust him much right now. In her own mind, she was on her own... With every ounce of strength she could muster up, she stood up, and bolted away to find safety. Medical equipment, although limited, was in her cabin, she had to get this arrow out and the wound taken care of so she could continue the fight. This was her home, she had to protect it, otherwise, it was so many possiblities. Returning to her father? Slavery? Death? And her dragon could face worse... .
11:30
The brunette slammed the door shut, barricaded it with a chair, kept all the light out, tore her helmet off and fumbled to get her dagger out, as well as the equipment. Then, she slid to sit down, and started to just breathe. To get to the wound, the arrow had to come out... It was going to be extremely painful, and Saga had to brace for it... So, very very slowly, she started to pry the arrow out of her flesh, whimpering, wincing and even covering her mouth to scream when it got bad, but the arrow with a four edged tip finally came out. The blood started coming, and a rush was really happening. She then started to peel her armor off straight to all the skin, cover the open wound with a clump of cotton cloth, then tightly wrap her entire chest. Although this wasn't the most painful part, this didn't mean it was easy and pain free. She still suffered, and the physical reaction never seemed to stop. Finally, she was "done," well, as best as she could be... The bleeding really wasn't stopping. It slowed down, but it wasn't stopping. So, she slumped back on the wall and sighed. If this be the way she died, at least it was in her own home.

"Saga!" Svend yelled as he saw the arrow hit the woman. No, this can't be happening. I should have acted faster. he thought to himself as he charged at the Captain with his blade drawn. He wasn't going to give the man another chance to hurt the woman or the dragons. Her scream of pain made his heart feel like iron in his chest. Heavy and throbbing from her pain. The Captain drew his own sword and dropped the bow. The two began parrying and dodging each others blows. The Captain was a skilled swordsman on and off the ship. Svend now knew where his loyalties lay. It was with this island, where he was free to make what he wished. And work with the dragons, not against them. As the two humans fought, the Dusckutter let out concerned grunts and squawks as Saga fell off of him. He was confused as to what was happening. He looked to Iona and then to the Skrill that was looking worse for wear. He roared at the Skrill again before taking off after Saga. The human house was secure with the woman inside doing something. He peeked in through the windows, snorting and trying to figure out what the weird woman was doing. At this point, Svend was fighting the Captain still. Each blow more powerful than the last. "Svend, why are you going against your nature? These dragons are not your companions. That woman is not your friend. She kills people, while defending monsters." "The dragons are not monsters... We were. We are the monsters. You came into her territory... her home. You don't know her." Svend replied, and pushed back even harder. He knocked the blade from the Captain's hand before shoving the blade between the surprised man's chest. "I was a fool for hesitating... Now you can't leave and tell them where she is... where we are." he said before pulling back the blade to watch the man fall. By this time, the Skrill was losing to Iona greatly. under the influence of the Captain. It was free to do as it pleased. And it was not about to stay on the island with the two other dragons and humans. Svend felt hurt by the death of his former crew members. He had a few cuts from the other's blade, but he won. They won. He looked back and realized she was not there. Nor was the Duskcutter. "Iona, let's go find your friend before she bleeds to death." His leg ached terribly, but he had to keep going. He made his way over to the dragon and hoped she would let him ride her. He would put his hands on the side of her neck before trying to climb on.

The Nightfury scratched and bit, throwing plasma ball after plasma ball at the Skrill when it got too close to land. The electricity the dragon threw at her was indeed painful, yes, but she wasn't the offspring of lightning and death itself for nothing. Lightning came from the clouds to touch her scales, roaring as she did so, before disappearing into thin air. After a moment, she reappeared away from the Skrill and fired. Although, he was, flying away?? Although Iona was indeed confused, all she did was roar to stay away from here, before she flew back down to help. The deed was already done though, the captain was dead, and Arne was unconscious... Yet, where was Saga? Svend spoke to her now, and luckily she understood Nordic like the she knew the scales on her wings, so, she practically threw him on when he got into position, and started running across the land trying to track her down. She wasn't exactly a tracker dragon, but she had an advantage knowing the land and her human. If she was injured, she'd retreat somewhere safe. Her home. The Nightfury finally approached the door, and slammed right through it head first. And, as predicted, it definitely hurt. She shook her head from the solid impact right on her skull, before looking back to the dusk cutter through the window. His gaze was locked right where Saga was, half conscious and just tired. She wouldn't bleed to death, it would take too long, the blood loss however just made her drained of her energy. To her side was the arrow covered in her blood, and the top half of her armor was displayed unorganized on the ground. Her torso looked no better. Although her breasts were covered, it was obvious which one of them was shot, according to the massive blood stain in the cotton wrap, and which one was going to have a bad scar after this. "You did pick a side. I was worried I'd be shipped back home, or worse."

When he reached for her bandages, the first thing she did was grab his wrists. Loosely, but she still made her attempt to stop him. Now when she thought about it, yes normally, she'd be extremely concerned that he was taking off the only thing covering her breasts, but at this point, if it was nudity versus bleeding out? She'd take nudity. So, she let go of his wrists, and just tried to relax, allowing him to help now. "The leather did some help, and my natural assets are great armor." She replied, giggling weakly a bit to her own comment. Even bleeding out she still was good at making herself laugh. Now, she felt guilty. Saga blamed him for his crew's arrival, when she new better than to assume something that illogical. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been so distrustful of you. I should've known better." At one point, though, the bandaging became a little too painful, causing her to snap her head back and hit the wall, as well as grab his wrist tightly, not stopping his actions though. "No! No I don't have alcohol- I have fruit fermenting but I don't have any!" She said in a little more of a whine, pushing through her pain as best she could. This was extremely painful, after all. Iona looked up to the dusk cutter while she laid beside Svend, and groaned happily when she received a lick. Although, she was just too worried to think about anything else but Saga... She was shot, after all, and was in a lot of pain... Did they both really achieve a peaceful life, or was it coming apart so soon?

Svend chuckled to her words, but remained focus on his work. "I think it might do best to make you a metal breast plate. Thanks to the Captain, we do have some new iron to smelt down." He was glad that she seemed to be in good spirits. All up until he got to the more sensitive packing of the wound. He did not mind her grabbing his wrists tightly. Anything to help her cope with the pain was fine with him. "Almost done. We'll have to change this out every few hours. The packing is just to get the bleedin' to stop... I don't blame you for your distrust. You don't have a reason to trust anyone with all that has happened to you. I've not exactly been here long enough to gain that trust." he stated, moving on to wrap the longer cotton cloth around her chest. Making sure to make it tight enough to slow the bleeding, but loose enough she could breathe well. "That should work for now... Make sure it stays clean, and you'll be right as rain." He put one arm under the bend of her legs, and the other under her arms as he lifted her bridal-style. "In bed you go to rest. You took care of me. It's only right I do the same." If she didn't resist, he would carry her to her bed and gently lay her on it. He knew how to take care of people. He knew how to take care of himself too. Plus, he had the dragons to help. They should... and the duskcutter had a chair in it's mouth and was carrying it outside. "Dragons are just overgrown cats..." The Duskcutter was indeed carrying a wooden chair outside. He placed it down on the ground outside and sniffed it. He had noticed that the fire inside the house was not going, and he wanted to help. Humans needed to be warm in his mind. He broke the chair into pieces and carried it back inside. He threw the wood inside the fire place and caught it aflame. Sitting there with a proud look on his face, he looked to the humans. He did good. Very good. Svend's eye twitched a bit at what he just heard and witnessed. -c-
09:42
"Why? That was one of our chairs... We need chairs." he stated, giving the dragon a scolding look. One that was returned with a huff from the Duskcutter, followed by the dragon leaving the house grumbling. Shaking his head, he said, "I guess one of the thing's I'll be doing later today is make a new chair..." He looked to Saga with a exasperated look. "Sorry my dragon broke your chair."

"Can't it just stay on? The first time was bad enough..." She grumbled in frustration, forcing herself to relax the tension in all of her upper body muscles, including the death grip she had on his wrists... This was probably the most frustrating thing, she was self sufficient enough to take care of herself, at least that's how it's always been, the fact that she needed his help now was extremely annoying... The worst part was, he was doing fantastic. He was great help! She knew she could actually rely on him in the future if she needed more help... She was just too independent not to be angry at her dependency. Maybe in the future she could accept it. "I'll make sure to be as careful as possible to my bandages, it might be hard with my activity." She replied sarcastically, still managing to keep herself in good spirits. Although, she was rather scared for just a moment when she was picked up, quickly wrapping her arms around Svend's neck... How much more pathetic could she get? "I don't need to rest. I could still run with the arrow in my chest, and I'm fine now." Denial was fun, and she was damn good at denying her weakness too. Injury? Tis but a scratch! What a load of crap. Well, whether she liked it or not, she was in bed, and resting. Then, her fireplace was emitting heat and light... With her chair... Although, she wasn't mad. Rather impressed the dragon knew how to do that, and to help her no less! Saga knew he'd come around. "Hmm? That's alright, I'm happy he's trying to help now, instead of inconveniencing us at every turn. It's flattering he was worried about us."

Svend rolled his eyes to her protests. "You will be fine after rest. I think I can manage things while you rest. I have two... helpers?" He looked over his shoulder at Iona, then to the door where the Duskcutter had gone. He knew his leg was still injured, and needed more time to heal. But he could still do enough to ease the burden off of her. Looking back to her, he was pleased to hear she wasn't upset about the lack of chair. However, he was not too happy about having to make a new one thanks to the dragon. "He's coming around. Nearly threw me off his back in the sky when I got on his back. That dragon is as tame as the ocean during a storm." he stated, turning away from her to go to the door. "Stay and rest. I'm going to take care of our last guest... I don't want anyone coming for you, Saga. You don't deserve death or imprisonment for being a voice for dragons." He paused by the nightfury, giving her a gentle pat on the side. "I think I see their charm. A charm I didn't see before. I feel I'm learning here." He looked back to Saga, a gentle, yet charming, smile on his face. "I'll be back in a bit. Iona, can you make sure Saga stays in bed?" He would point to Saga, and then the bed. "That would be a good help." He chuckled, wondering how much this dragon actually understood. It was sort of amusing to think that the dragon could understand his words, and actually follow through with such commands. Whether the dragon listened or not, he would go out the door and toward the forest. He saw the Duskcutter outside, laying out in a sunbeam, seemingly pouting as he did so. Svend watched the dragon for a few moments, observing the behaviors. It seemed the dragon was taking a rest, and the wounds it had were not too concerning. Bites and scratches from fighting it out with the Skrill. "Oi, try not to get a sunburn." he joked before heading on into the forest. The Duskcutter lifted his head to give Svend a look. He snorted, turning his head up and away from -c-

the human as his tail flicked back and forth. The dragon was not very happy that the human scolded him for making a warm place for them. He looked back toward the door, his wings stretching out to absorb the warmth of the sun. He was tired himself from all the flying and fighting. Wanting nothing more than to nap in the sun for the time being.

"Yes, but what about your leg? You'll need help too! And more than Iona and the dusk cutter." She huffed, continuing to protest even when laying down in her bed. She ran this island all by herself for ten years! She didn't want to be bed bound because of an accident, much less see him do everything himself now. Regardless of her previous distrust for him, both when they first met and in the right, she still cared about him. Svend was the first friend she had in so many years, that liked her for her, not because of anything she was. Slowly, though, the brunette was accepting her current situation. Her body was already complete settled into resting, and going on snooze, which is probably the best comparison for her situation. "I'm sorry." She mumbled, pushing loose hairs out of her face from her braid. "I didn't have a great set of options, but I still feel bad for murdering your crew mates. I know they mattered to you. I'll give them a burial when I'm better healed." He sees their charm... That's the first. Saga immediately lit up with a smile, overcome with bliss that finally someone saw what she had been advocating for for so long. So long she was deemed crazy, at least they could be crazy together. Well, she was happy until Svend gave Iona an order. "Wait hold on just a second-" She started, throwing her legs over to the side of the bed to try and stand, but it was too late. The night fury charged and toppled her over the other side of the bed to keep her down, screaming for just a moment from her surprise... Her dragon took a second, but eventually lifted her up from the back and shuffled her onto the bed once more, laying her head on top of the human's legs. "You're so damn reckless. Odin forbid you be the reason I die young." Although the pain never ceased from the hole in her chest, she was beginning to relax more, and even growing tired again. Her body was responding accordingly, and drugging her naturally to get her to sleep. Which, she eventually did.
02:16
Slowly but surely, she fell asleep while he was gone, warm from the fire and secure because of her dragon. Although she realized her home was not as secluded or hidden as she once believed, she had friends, human and animal, at her side. As long as they were there, she had no reason to worry... The reality of her new life kept her at ease while she slept.

As she slept, Svend went to go kill the last crewmate here. As he walked, he felt a sense of dread in his heart. This was the life he had chosen to walk by. To be at peace with nature, the dragons, and the woman who behaved like them. Did he still find her crazy? Yes, but not because of her love of dragons. It was who she was. He could not blame her for her strangeness. How long had it been since she had any other positive human interaction? When he arrived, he found the other human still on the ground. Oblivious at what was about to happen. Drawing his blade, he let out a sigh. He looked up to the sky, wondering if this was the right thing to do? These crewmates were once his friends, but also his obstacle. They prevented him from pursuing his dreams. However, they also kept him fed and paid. He began to feel a little torn. Until he thought of Saga and her dragon. The laughter they brought him, not to mention they were grateful for his skills at the forge. He no longer had to fight what he thought were monsters. He just had to fight the real monsters now. He lifted his blade and brought it down across the back of the man's neck. Cleaving his head clean off. It was a quick death, but it felt wrong in a way. He knew they were only trying to survive the same way he once was. If he had washed up with them instead of Saga finding him with the dragon, would he have ended up the same fate? Would he have killed her and captured her dragon? It was a dark thought to think about. He ran his left hand over the top of his head, feeling over the long braid. He felt the stubble of hair on the sides of his head, telling him he needed to shave it down again. "You three died a warriors death in battle... I hope Odin see's me in the same light when I die." he flicked the blood off his blade before sheathing it. He would have to prepare small boats for a Viking funeral for them. A burial was not enough in his eyes. He also knew he would need the dragons help for this. -c-

While she slept, he would recruit the duskcutter to help him move the bodies to a cave on the island. To keep the bodies cool till he had preparations made for them. Even though they came to disrupt the life on this island, they were also victims themselves. Protecting themselves and their livelihood. He couldn't blame them for their actions. He had no hate toward them. He would have the large dragon push a boulder in front of the opening to keep anything from getting inside for now. By the time he was done, it was nightfall. He knew they had some dried fish preserved, and decided to use that to make a meal along with some mushrooms and greens they had foraged. He threw them into a pot with some water. Preparing his first meal here. He wasn't as elegant at cooking as she was. But the soup would come out decent and edible. He would eat his fill, while also giving the dragons some fish each so they would not go hungry. He knew they could hunt for themselves, but felt rude not giving them anything while he ate. He would pour a bowl for her and put it on the stand beside the bed before going to the couch to sleep on. He made a mental note to make another bed for the house as he drifted off to sleep himself in the home. Tomorrow would be a new day, and a new adventure with his friend.

So many days went by before Saga healed completely and was in full strength again. A gruesome scar was left on her breast, but that just made everything cooler! After all, who didn't love a good scar or several? Especially facing near death, that scar was one of pride, so much so she adapted her armor to have a white mark in that exact area, with the same pattern as her scar. A few more days after her recovery passed, they held the funeral for Svend's deceased crew mates by burning boats, and afterwards, Saga went hunting, a lot. She caught deer after dear, and used every bit of their body for her benefit, but focused mainly on the leather. A day came where not only did she have enough, but the saddle she had been working on for him was FINALLY finished, fitted and customized to perfection. What she had built was a lightweight saddle with small pouches on the side for small storage. On the front, was two handles meant for both hands, and a rope with a belt so he could be secure, both sitting and standing. She rushed out of the cabin, throwing the saddle onto the dusk cutter the moment she found him, and buckled it on. "Be patient! Be patient!" She said, while securing everything on. The fur of the deer had been left on the leather, and on the bottom where the dragon's scaley skin was. It ensured comfort! "There! Does that feel good? I'm so happy you finally came around!" Saga was quite the bubbly person even still, wasn't she? That didn't matter now, she needed to show Svend! She cupped her hands, and called for him using Kulning, which was significantly louder than her scream. With a bit of effort, she incorporated his name into the call, then stopped, and readjusted the dress and waist tied apron she was wearing, then, waited for his eventual arrival.

During this time, Svend's leg had healed even more. Less pain to walk on, making work around the homestead even easier. He chopped down tree's for wood, and tried his hand at carving. He made a new chair to replace the one the duskcutter had destroyed, and a bed frame. He used wool from the sheep's to make bedding, as well as hide from the animals of the island. He put the bed parallel to hers on the wall, the feet end of the bed facing one another. He had no idea that Saga was making him a saddle, nor did Kol. The Duskutter grunted and grumbled as she put on the saddle. Squirming and making hissing-growls at the woman as she put the strange thing on him. When she was finished, he flopped onto his side like a cat wearing something it didn't want. He kicked his back legs, going in a circle on the ground to try and rub it off. The dragon was indeed trusting of the humans, but didn't so much like the weird feeling of the thing on his back. Meanwhile, Svend had finished chopping down another tree. He was chopping it into manageable sized pieces to be used in the fire place as well as the forge. He wished this island had more coal on it. He had only found a few spots when delving into some of the caves that resided on the island. Coal was great for smelting compared to the wood. Hearing Saga's call, he wiped his brow and stood more upright. Was it food time already? He was a little hungry. Making his way back with the large hatchet over his shoulder, he found her. She looked very excited about something. He then looked to Kol, who had something on his back. It took him a moment to realize it was a saddle. Putting the hatchet on the ground to lean against their home, he said, "You have that look about you... What are you wanting me to do?" He had come to realize this bubbly woman had a few quirks. Seemingly growing excited when something involved the dragons, or something she wanted him to make at the forge. It seemed she liked giving him little projects to do. -c

Projects that improved her armor, weapons, or anything else she fancied. He didn't mind it, though. It gave him things to do. Things to work on. He enjoyed it, if he were to be honest. He folded his arms over his chest lazily, watching her and the dragon. Kol got up on his feet, looking back to his saddle with a grunt. It wasn't uncomfortable. It felt weird on the dragon. Looking to Svend, he made little squawks of protest. As if asking the human to take the thing off. It wasn't something he was used to wearing. At least he wasn't trying to bite it off.

Then Svend finally arrived, in her mind, he should've arrived instantly! She was so excited to show off her work! She then huffed, pushing loose hairs out of her face from her braid. "What do you mean 'that look'?" She teased, getting up and personal in his face, before moving over to Kol. "I made you a saddle! And he's being overly dramatic about it, but it's comfortable on him! I want to teach you two how to fly! It's teamwork, after all! The only reason you won't flow together is because you two suck at it, and Kol keeps throwing you off." She said with her usual chipper tone, before rubbing the dusk cutter's head at her final remark. Iona burst out of the ground moments later, inspecting Saga all over thinking it was food. Of course, all she received was her nostrils pinned shut for a moment. "I don't have anything. We're going to fly today! These guys have to learn eventually... Come on! Saddle up! The ocean's big!"

Svend rubbed his neck a little, looking between the woman and the dragon. As she got up in his face, he blinked a few times. This woman was not afraid to get up and personal. Last thing he wanted was to get hit again. She had a mean punch to her, after all. Once she backed off a bit, he looked to the dragon. The dragon was still making grumbles of protest, but had given up on trying to rub off the saddle at this point. He could now see the saddle better since the beast had calmed down a little. "It looks nice... And fly? He tried to kill me last time I rode on his back. Are you sure this is wise, woman?" he stated, looking as unconvinced as Kol. He did not enjoy flying his first time. The dragon flew so wildly, and fast! It wasn't something he wanted to really do. However, he could see she was excited about the prospect. With a sigh, he approached the duskcutter. He pet over the dragon's head and side of the neck, trying to reconcile with him. "Kol, I believe we don't have much of a choice in this. Let's do what she says so we can eat tonight." he stated with a coy smile on his face. His words were meant to tease her. He knew she wouldn't with hold food from them. Kol huffed, even though he was getting pets. He had come to enjoy the pets from the humans. However, he didn't know how to feel about the saddle and the nonsense words they were prattling on about. He looked to Iona and squawked at her, as if asking what these humans were talking about. However, it soon became clear as Svend climbed onto the strange thing on his back. He had seen Iona with something similar, and knew the human rode on it when flying. Grumbling a little, he looked back to Svend. Svend adjusted himself on the saddle, carefully watching the Duskcutter as he did so. He tied one hand onto the handle, so the other could be free if need be. He was surprised Kol had not started flailing yet. "There we go, that's the spirit, Kol. We get to go flying with Iona and Saga." He smiled, -c-

looking hopeful about the whole ordeal. Up until the dragon flopped onto his side again. Svend had just enough time to lift up his leg so it wouldn't be crushed by the dragon. "Dammit, Kol! No! Bad dragon!" he scolded, getting only a growl in response. This was going to be a great lesson.

Immediately she rolled her eyes the MOMENT he finished his first sentence, picking up a pebble and tossing it at his forehead. "Saga. You've been here long enough to know that, you're no fool. I call you by your name." She huffed, taking another pebble and tossing it at the same spot. It shouldn't hurt, just annoy him a bit. After all, it was annoying to be called woman, maybe she should call him sperm holder as revenge... Or maybe that was too far. "Now, hop on! Flying will be easy once you two accept it, and get the hang of it!" She chirped, jumping onto her nightfury's saddle and took off. Of course she's had plenty of time to master a multitude of skills, flying, of course, was one of them. The time they spent growing a relationship and a deep sense of trust allowed them to pull off some of the most reckless moves, seen as such. Iona threw and caught her, Saga stood on her back and kept her balanced, spinning, parachute wings, anything they could practice they did. Especially since most of those things happened in the blink of an eye. Although, things were quiet... Svend still wasn't in the air, and when she set her sighs on him, he was on the ground, struggling to get him up... Was it seriously this hard..? She sighed, and together, they flew back down to the pair and landed next to them. Iona gave her grumbles of frustration, especially to the Dusk cutter... The brunette dismounted, and walked right over to Kol, cupping his face in her hands and huffing. "You've gotta trust him. He had your back then, in sickness and health, in the ground and sky, he'll have it now. Give him a chance, would you?" She said in some frustration, rubbing his head now. She wasn't necessarily sure if he still had trouble understanding him, much less if this would work, and he'd listen, but she might as well give it a shot. Iona listened when she was spoken to like an equal, perhaps Kol was just the same way. .

"Svend, get up!" She huffed yet again, pulling him off the saddle and brushing the dirt off his side. "Speak to him like a peer, maybe it'll do the trick. Don't demand his service, ask him to help, as you would a friend."
