Jasper sat at the front desk of the libray he owned, he sat in one of the chairs at the main desk, reading a book. He was use to quiet alone days and he was happy for them all. It was a very good and peaceful, and he hoped people would come in soon.

Well, the other place had been a bit of a bust. Hadn't seen anyone there, and hadn't gone inside because it didn't seem like the most interesting place to go wandering about alone. So now he had been wandering for a while, stopping in front of this library. ..Well, he wasn't much of a reader, but it was better to know what this place had in case he needed anything. Besides, maybe someone was around that would be interesting to meet. Once again, he tossed his cigarette onto the ground and stomped it out, pushing the door open, glancing around the area.
Avatar
Jasper hummed softly as he took a sip of his tea, he looked up to see someone entering he smiled widely "goodmorning, is there anything I can do to help you?" He asked quietly, his smile never fading
Avatar
"Oh? I take it you're the librarian, then? No, no, nothing in particular. I'm just new to this town, so i'm doing some exploring. Name's Nic, you?" He walked over to the counter, shoving a hand in his pocket and sticking one out Jasper. "..What kinds of things d'ya got? And let's not have it run too long, i'm not that big into reading. Just lookin' to see what you have to offer for if I end up needin' anything from here."
Avatar
he gently shook the other man's hand "Hello there Nic, I'm Jasper. Yes I own the libray." He agreed before letting go of his hand. "I am also new, the renovations of the library had just finished so I was able to move into the aparment upstairs." He smiled He listened to nic nodding "ah...Alright well. What subjects do you enjoy, fantasy, mystery?" He asked carefully Turing the computer on. "Which one?"
Avatar
"Well, I don't really do much in the way of reading, so what kinds of things are you interested in? I doubt that i'd end up actually reading anything, at least not today, but it's good to know what all's here, no? And who knows, maybe it'll be good to have something to do on a slow night at the bar." With a shrug, he took his hand back and quickly brushed some of his hair back with it, before shoving it into his other pocket.
Avatar
he smiled "well, there's tones of subjects. I for one love to read a good mysterious. But then again I do enjoy reading a good enemies to lovers romance ." He replied softly. He hummed "you seem to be the type who may enjoy a good bit of fantasy." He offered
Avatar
"..I see. Hm.." In all honesty, he didn't know the first thing about a good story. When he was growing up, he never really could get himself to read a book all that often. He preferred to be out and about, not spending all his time sitting inside with a book. "I don't know what all would sound interesting. What kinds of fantasy books would you recommend? Hopefully it'd be something that would make those slower nights at the bar less boring. Or any book in general, actually."
Avatar
Jasper hummed softly. "As a first story, I recommend the Percy Jackson series as a first book." He smiled motioning for Nic to follow him. He walked towards the children's section, carefully getting the first book. "Dont worry let the colorful rook fool you, these books are perfect to help get an adult started on reading again, this is my favorite series." He smiled softly . "Or if you don't want to read, we can get you a audio book." He offered smiling
Avatar
He raised a brow as they walked towards the children's section. "..You're offering me a book from the children's section?" That.. was actually fair, since he hadn't read much since he got out of school, and he didn't read unless he had to there in the first place.. "The physical book would probably be better, since my job requires me to listen to people. How do we go about this?"
Avatar
Jasper gave an embaressed smile. "Well....i read them, still to this day. I don't call them children's books really. anyone can read them." He replied carefully putting the book back on the shelf, cheeks red with embaressment. He cleared his thoughts walking to the front desk again looking up some books for the other. "Sorry, I didn't mean to offend, I just offered."
Avatar
He quickly reached over and grabbed the book, tucking it under his arm as he walked over to the counter. Setting it down, he looked at Jasper. "Don't get the wrong idea, i'll take the book." He shrugged. "I didn't do much reading after I got outta school, so starting with something like this'll help me get back into it, right?" It had seemed like the librarian, Jasper, he said his name was, had been slightly upset by the comment, which Nic hadn't intended in the slightest. "Do I have to sign up for anything, or how exactly do we do this?"
Avatar
Jasper nodded softly, he offered him a soft smile as he nodded. "Yes! Lovely, we need to get you signed up for a libray book!" He smiled happily typed away at his computer, before he grabbed a few papers from his desk. "I also find it helpful when you read with a friend. When I was younger, me and my friend would have put own books and read at our own pace, and each climax in the book we would day our reactions out loud. It was both fun, and amusing ." He smiled getting a pen. "I need your name and adress please ."
Avatar
He started filling out the papers as he listened to the librarian talk. "..Well, my job leans more towards talking with people while they drink, not so much talkin' to them while I read, but I will absolutely keep that in mind, thank you."
Avatar
he nodded softly with a kind smile. "Of course, you know the libray does offer adult programs. We have a wine and dine coming soon, as well as a adult reading program. If you read 100 books by the end of summer, you could win a chance for a three day, two night trip to a local zoo for a safari." He replied "sorry, I'm trying to bring back the love for reading." He explained
Avatar
He blinked a couple of times at Jasper. "I mean.. I can see what you're doin', I just dunno if that's for me. Most of my time's spent at the bar anyway. A hundred books is a lot of books, and I don't even know how long it's going to take me to finish this one."
Avatar
"thats true ." He replied making a note of that, on a note pad. "Im trying, I know people arnt into reading as much as I am. I'm not sure what to offer." He admitted softly looking up at Nic.
Avatar
"I think it's just about finding the right people." He shrugged. "A lot of people have too much going on to really be able to sit down and read all the time, y'know?"
Avatar
"Yeah, I understand that." He agreed softly. "Its hard remembering you know." He admitted softly. "But I supose I may need to observe people to see what they all like and dislike."
Avatar
"That's how you draw people in." He nodded. "You gotta figure out what they're into, what catches the common man's eye, and how to best work with that. That's one reason why I picked up the job at the bar. A lot of people use a drink as a way to unwind after a long day at work. That's something that draws someone in, and then I use that interest to learn more about people and what I can do to make 'em come back. Make sense?"
Avatar
he nodded softly "yeah, that does make sense. Maybe I should put back put the suggestion box." He replied softly carefully getting into his desk getting a small box. "Thank you for explaining mate, I truely appreciate it?"
Avatar
He nodded. "Of course, friend." He took the book and looked between Jasper and the entrance. "Well, it was a pleasure meeting you. You should stop by the bar sometime, come catch a drink. I'll let out know how the book's comin' along."
Avatar
Jasper smiled kindly, he nodded softly. "Thanks mate, I would appreciate that. I hope you will stop by again." He replied happily as he looked up at him. "Um, do you have o positive things, With blood?" He asked couriously
Avatar
He looked at the librarian and tilted his head. "Uh.. I dunno why it matters, but i'm an A negative. Why, is there a blood drive that comes through fairly often?"
Avatar
he laughed softly. "no, no. There is a company we can call that provides o positive and o negative for vampires. I personally like the o positive. But o negative is more universal and everyone can have it " He replied softly "oh, no darling you don't have to give your blood up I promise."
Avatar
"Oh. I see." He shrugged. Man, he was still getting used to how open supernaturals were in some places.. "I dunno how good my blood would taste, anyway. I don't have the healthiest habits, if i'm being honest."
Avatar
he nodded softly. "No need to worry, the blood the shops sell, are processed and cleaned to make sure no sickness or clots are in them. " He smiled "if you need help finding a vendor just let me know, they also sell pastries that are vampire friendly."
Avatar
"..Oh. I think there's a bit of a misunderstanding here. I'm.. not a vampire. I'm human. Honestly, I don't have a lot of experience dealing with vampires and others.. similar to them, if you know what I mean."
Avatar
"o-oh..I kinda figured darling. I meant, for the bar if you are in search of vampire friendly foods. We cannot eat alot of normal foods. So the blood helps." He admitted softly
Avatar
"Ah.. Sorry." He shrugged. "I'll have to talk to boss 'bout it. I'm just the bartender, after all. Who knows, maybe there's already stuff there and I just haven't found it yet." With that, he looked back at the door. "Alright, I should probably head out now. It's been a pleasure." With a nod, he turned and walked out.

Noah would follow behind the little lady who they wanted to train him for the day, he walked softly behind her taking in the immense stature of the building itself. Not a native to the area, he had never seen anything this size when it came to libraries. "And this is your area," she would say as she would let him move behind the desk of the library, "You will help people check out the books and then you will make sure to put them back up according to the system we had, sound good?" "Sounds great," he would say as he would give her a nod, "I got it from here." "Feel free to give me a call if you need help," she said with a smile, "I will always be around." With that she would head out the door, and he would sit down on the comfy chair as he looked around, everything empty in the moment.

She'd been stuck for the last hour staring at the ticking cursor mark on her word document. Her left leg bouncing up and down as she tried to get something, anything to motivate her to get further than she had but nothing was sticking, nothing was inspiring her... As a writer losing the grip on one's muse was a fate worse than death and that meant she needed to get out of her head. She hadn't been out of the house in... "Shit." She lifted her baggy sweater and sniffed at it. Yeah, Leia definitely needed to get out of the house and get some air. After a quick shower and a quick bite to eat she headed into town. There were several places she could have chosen to go but she'd settled on something in her comfort zone. If she couldn't write her book then she would go and peruse the library. Hopeful that if she was surrounded by all those books that she might get some inspiration for herself. Pushing open the door she looked around. It'd surprisingly been the first time since she'd come here but already she was impressed by the massive collection and she'd only just stepped in. The smell brought back memories of her and her grandmother spending every Wednesday in the library back home... "Books." One word and it was filled with joy. She didn't even know where to begin. Seeing a desk with someone behind it she made her way over, her elbows leaning over it that came about up to her waist. "Um, excuse me I could use some...directions."

Noah had been sitting there for about ten minutes or so when his first "customer" of the day had walked in, he was beginning to wonder if anyone still used this old place. It didn't really matter to him, a quiet place to earn a good solid wage while being able to read anything that he wanted from the shelves. This was the closest he was getting to heaven as a job. He would look up at the door as it rang, and wow... was he blown away almost immediately. The dark black eyeliner that she used was almost the first thing that he noticed, the darkness made her blue eyes pop as she walked through the door. Tussling with her blonde hair as she would make her way up to the counter of the library. "Um, excuse me I could use some...directions." "Well, I can definitely maybe help with that," Noah would laugh from behind the counter, "It's my first day, but we will see if we can get you pointed in the right direction. What are you looking for?"

Leia Brooks BOT 15-Dec-22 08:45 AM
"Well..." Leia laughed nervously, looking side to side before tilting her head just a little. Her voice lowering just a bit as if she was about to let him on a secret. "I'm not, um.. exactly sure." She bit her lip and looked at him, her eyebrows rising as if what she said was almost blasphemous. "I need inspiration, motivation and to get lost into something so that I can possibly get out of my own mind."

Noah Grey BOT 15-Dec-22 08:49 AM
As she leaned in, Noah couldn't stop himself, he leaned in as well, looking up at her still as she explained that she needed know what she needed in the moment, she just needed inspiration or to get lost for the moment. He would give her a smile in the moment, "Well, I can definitely help with that. So which one do you want more of? Motivation or losing your self in a fantasy world?" He stood for a moment, the small desk was really hiding his frame as the six foot, three inches of his body would almost spring from out under the desk.

Leia watched as he stood, her eyes going wide as she had to crane her neck a little to look up at him. Quickly recovering, she looked around. "Um, losing myself. I guess. Been staring at my laptop screen for way too long my eyes might just bleed if I somehow find motivation before a good break." She laughed nervously. "You're tall. You know that? Almost like a giant." Noah Grey BOT 15-Dec-22 09:09 AM
He would laugh with a little snort in the middle of it, something had try to break for years, "You know, I have gotten the tall thing before," he said with a smile as he settled down for a moment, "But, never the giant thing. So, you wanna get lost in a series, huh? Well, tell me what is some of your favorite things to read? Maybe I can find you something I would have a recommendation for?"

Leia Brooks BOT 15-Dec-22 09:18 AM
"Oh yeah?" She grinned at him. "Well...uh. Books. I like? There's so many... Tolkien is amazing. Steven King is good. Terry Pratchett. I love romance novels too, but I figure you might not be the type? Or is that stereotyping... sorry." She hopped on the balls of her feet for a moment. "Sci-fi is good too. I read this one book... Strangers in a Strange Land. That's my kinda weird. But um, I'm open to anything really."
Avatar
Noah Grey BOT 15-Dec-22 09:20 AM
"Hey, hey," he would stop her for a moment, "Don't judge a book by its cover, no pun intended..." He would give the little snort laugh again, "I do love me a good romance book, but don't mean to sound any sort of way, but do you like romance books, or spicy romance books...? Because surprisingly, this place has both.
Avatar
Leia Brooks BOT 15-Dec-22 09:23 AM
"All the puns intended." She snorted and shook her head side to side. "T-There are spicy romance books in the Library?" She gave him an incredulous look. "Nu uh. I don't believe you."

Noah Grey BOT 15-Dec-22 09:38 AM
"Oh, there are!" he said with a smile, "I was as shocked as you were, but there is a whole smut section that is hidden as "adult literature" in the back here, come on!" He almost reached out for her hand, but stopped himself in the excitement, although his hand did extend for a second as he waited for her to come along.
Avatar
Jasper sat at the front desk, humming softly as he worked on the computer, ordering new books for the libray, as well as diffrent activities for the kids who came. He noticed a few people sneaking off going toward the adult literature area. He hummed softly going back to his emails hoping they knew what was hidden I that section.

"Oh no no, I don't really want t-to read those. Um, I mean I would but that's like..." She stammered and bit her lip. "Something more tame...should do. Ah, don't wanna get erm, frustrated." She blushed and looked around. "But uh...will definitely keep that section in mind if I ever feel um...bold enough."
Avatar
Noah Grey BOT 15-Dec-22 10:00 AM
"Okay," he said with a smile, "Well, sci-fi it is then, I know a couple of good sci-fi novels..." He smiled as he begin to veer in an opposite direction, "You said you liked Stephen King, right? Have you ever read the book Under The Dome?" He would begin to veer down the aisles for a moment, looking back and forth for a second to see if he remembered where the sci-fi section was...
Avatar
Leia Brooks BOT 15-Dec-22 10:17 AM
"Under the dome..." Leia thought for a moment at the title, her eyebrows scrunching together as her mind pictured each book she'd ever read. "Ah, no...don't think I, I don't think I have. I've read IT, The Shining, Pet Cemetery... and 1408." Her eyebrows released as she came back to the present and she gave him a smile. Seeing him looking back and forth she chuckled. "You uh...know where we're going, Mister Handsome Giant?"
Avatar
Noah Grey BOT 15-Dec-22 09:30 PM
"Oh, that one is wonderful," he would continue to say as he smiled down at her, "So, there is this town right, and all of a sudden this giant dome just suddenly appears over the town, throughout the book they have to figure out how to survive in this dome or try to get out. Its great..." He would trail off for a moment as he began to look around for a moment, "No, I think I got it," he would giggle, "You know, first day and all..." Finally, he would find the section he was looking for, "Sci-fi! Here we go!"

Leia Brooks BOT 15-Dec-22 09:39 PM
"Ah, thatmakes sense...with the title! Kinda on the nose." Leia snickered as he looked around until he made his exclamation. "Too bad I didn't bring my space helmet." Her jest just a bit out there, her humor was always a bit odd. As they made their way through the aisles of book Leia let her fingers lightly trail over the spines of all the books they passed. Her whole body relaxed as she followed him through to the science fiction. His statement truly was right, one should never judge a book by it's cover. She had found a lot of great books once she had let her prejudices go when it came to that very thought. Putting that mindset on people...maybe if people didn't judge her by her cover they'd realize she had brains, not just looks. Leia's eyes looked at his long hair, muscular and tatted arms and wondered if perhaps he felt similar. He had to, right? Were interactions with people as hard for him as it felt for her? Chewing her lip as he looked for the book he'd recommended Leia looked at others on the shelves, taking her time to appreciate the care it went into organizing all these books.

"Yeah, that is the one," he would hand the book over and she would immediately grasp onto it and continue to look through the books, he decided to take the moment to speak up, "I hope I am not bothering you while you look, but do you mind if I ask you a question...?" He would wait for a response and if it was a positive one, he would smile at her as he asked, "I am kinda new in town. Everything here seems so different than back home, do you happen to know where I could get a cup of coffee from...? Not like a Starbucks, but like a real good cup of coffee...?" His body would tense for a moment, not exactly what he wanted to ask this stunningly gorgeous woman in front of him, but maybe if she answered a certain way, he could move it back to the subject he wanted. But, she could also think he was being creepy as he is brand new in town and she first met him all of five minutes ago. He waited for a response to see how he should spin things now.

"Well, there's a cute little bakery just down a ways. They serve coffee but I've never been...they have rave reviews from what I've read online." She glanced up from the books she had been glancing at, the one he'd given her tucked under her arm and against her chest snuggly. "Honestly..." She flushed making that same odd face she had earlier when I though. "I...don't get out much. I moved out here to work on my book so ninety eight percent of the time I'm either sitting on my couch typing away or sleeping." She flushed. "I drink coffee I make at home, but I feel like inviting you there is forward. Right? I mean, we just met." She laughed nervously and pulled another book from the shelf, the title reading The Left Hand of Darkness. Adding it to her other selection. "Mind showing me the uhm, safe romance novel section now?"

When she invited him to her house, his heart almost skipped a beat. Her cute faces that she made with the way that she stammered and moved. It was almost too adorable for him to even stand it. He looked up at her with a smile, "I mean, I don't think it would be too forward," he looked at the ground for a moment, a slight sheen of red crossing his face, "I mean, I think I would rather enjoy the company of a cute girl like yourself. Maybe we could talk more about books and stuff. I am a bit of a writer myself..." He would look up at her with a smile as she asked to go to the safe romance section, he giggled, "Sorry, I know a couple of people in town already and they seemed like the spicy variety. I mean, I wouldn't have asked that if I didn't know you... But, like... uh... Like they say, never judge a book by its cover, uh, nevermind... Normal romance here we come..."
