Thomas watched as June placed his food in front of him, giving her his typical, gentle smile of appreciation. Turning back to the plate of food, he picked up his utensil and started to eat. The offer from his wife made him pause for a moment, turning his attention back up to her so she could clearly see the knowing smile on his face. “It has been a while, hasn’t it? I would like that,” he said, knowing damn well that only recently he had done something similar with Bonie.
The ding of his phone caught his attention, and for a moment he might’ve let his facade fall. His face paled just a bit, his lips turned down slightly, but his face was pointed towards his plate. He had forgotten to turn his ringer off, and for that minor mistake he kicked himself. He cleared his throat as he fixed the look on his face, trying to look as unbothered as possible. He specifically ignored it, which might’ve been even more suspicious judging by the fact that he rarely ignored messages. He had a business to run, after all.
“Dinner was lovely, June, thank you,” he said, as he chewed the last bite of his food. He stood up, rubbing the back of his neck and allowing his hand to snake up the side of his face before brushing his hair back off of his forehead. “I have to go, but when I get back I would love to have that bath with you.” The back of his neck was hot, knowing that June could very well be on to his adultery. He couldn’t let her find out.
Thomas turned and walked over to the kitchen counter, picking up his phone and making his way up the stairs. Only when he was out of his wife’s sight, did he reply to Bonie. “For a bit. We need to talk.”
Dammit! Why am I fucking everything up tonight!
Thomas cursed at himself under his breath, as he walked into their modernized walk in closet and redressed before making his way back downstairs, forgetting to kiss June goodbye, and leaving the house entirely.
