Angela Pierce BOT 21-Oct-22 06:09 AM
Studio 16 was a fairly new establishment on the east side of Manchester. It had only been open for business for about a year and half of that time, Angela had been working there. Ever since her 18th birthday she had been ‘on the run’ from her family. She lived, worked and loitered in places she knew they would never accidentally run into them. They had her entire life planned out for her and that’s not what she wanted. She still visited on holidays and attended the events they requested her to, but other than that, she was a ghost in the wind. She had been doing well at Studio 16, making a name for herself as one of the best artists around and it was something she prided herself on. Luckily, all her business cards, checks and promotional adverts said: ‘Angie Pierce’ and allowed her to freely advertise her services as she wished without fear of her parents trying to put a stop to it. On this particular Monday she had a few clients lined up, all of which getting their first tattoos which was almost always a hassle. She had set her booth up for the image that had been pre-decided, the inks all lined up and the stencil ready to go as she made her way into the lobby. Walking up to the counter, she started to speak with the front desk attendant, a woman named Gracie, when she heard the bell ding to alert the shop that someone had entered. “I’m all ready for the 2pm. Just let me know when they arrive, yeah?” @Deleted User

Sophia Lane BOT 25-Oct-22 04:05 PM
Sophia was new to the Manchester area. She had just moved into an apartment that wasn’t exactly spacious, but it would have to make do for now. She had one bedroom and a living room with a small kitchen attached. Everything had deep brown wooden floors except for the bathroom, which had white tile. It was the fresh start she needed. Cardboard boxes and miscellaneous pieces of bubble wrap were scattered across her floor by her couch. Nothing was decorated yet and it felt empty. She had her purple laptop in hand and began searching for job openings near her. Sophia dug through her unpacked box of clothing for something professional. She hadn’t gotten the chance to display everything neatly in her closet yet. She needed to pick up shirt hangers from the store. She pulled out a sleek pair of black pants and a red peplum top with long sleeves. She clasped a simple gold chain necklace on with a pair of small stud earrings to match. The final touch was a plain pair of black ankle boots with a heel. Sophia clicked ‘print’ on the screen of her computer and pulled out the paper that was her resume. Perfect. She was prepared to drop off the document. Sophia stood on the sidewalk outside of the business labeled Studio 16. A woman who appeared to be around Sophia’s age walked in, and went straight to the front desk. She took a deep breath and followed. She waited patiently for the conversation between the stranger and receptionist to finish before taking a step forward. It appeared that the stranger was ready for their tattoo appointment. Sophia smiled at the receptionist and held out the piece of paper. “Hi, I’d like to apply for a job here.” @💙ShayBae💙

Angela smiled at the receptionist who happily nodded at the woman and her request. The stranger who has walked in pulled her attention from the tattoo artist, but as luck would have it, it was exactly who Angela had been waiting on. Grace cheekily looked over to the artist and smiled again, marking off the customer in her books.Oh, Miss Pierce. Your 2pm is here. The words were sarcastically playful and it was instantly well received as Angela looked down at her from below her brow. Turning to the customer, Angela waved her behind the counter and was about to lead her back into her stall when she heard a voice from the person in line behind her.Hi, I’d like to apply for a job here. She stopped in her tracks and slowly turned to face the woman in red and Grace, who turned back to share a look with her. It was Angela’s business and while they had had a few applications turned in over the years, it was never from a stranger. They always knew someone in the shop or had some sort of connection before they asked and from the looks of it, neither woman knew the stranger with the resume. Angela turned to her client and instructed them to head on into the back and she would be right with them before making her way back to the front desk. She took the resume from the woman and scanned over her past experiences, making sure to note her name before she spoke. “What has you interested in applying here.. Sophia Lane?” Her dark blue eyes shot up to look at the girl, her dark red lipstick causing her features to stand out more sharply and her midnight hair to make the colors on her face pop. She eyed the woman up and down as she awaited her answer, leaning against the counter to get a good look at her as she tried to figure out a job for her. @Deleted User

Sophia swallowed nervously but did her best to compose herself and keep a smile on her face. She waited patiently for the woman to assist the guest to the back for her appointment. That question always got her. What has you interested in applying here? The room was quiet for a moment while she thought about a good response. “Well, I’m new to the area. I saw that your business had great reviews and atmosphere, so I thought I would see if there was an opportunity.” Sophia preferred to provide her resume online, anonymously. But unfortunately for her, sometimes it made a good impression to make an appearance and show interest. Her resume had a few listings on there from her old hometown. Bartender, 2 years. Hotel concierge, 2 years. Restaurant waitress, 11 months. A list of skills relevant to those particular positions were listed in the paragraph below, along with a brief memo including references. The references were managers from her previous jobs that she had kept in touch with. Sophia had considered herself to be an extrovert but there were moments that she hit the limit to her social battery. She wasn’t quite sure how she had managed to be a bartender for so long. Some days, she definitely missed it. Other days it consisted of rowdy drunk men who ultimately tried their best to take her home, which never happened. The pay had been decent enough to live off of, and she saved enough to find a new place here. She wanted somewhere to start fresh. @💙ShayBae💙

'great reviews and atmosphere' Angela turned to Grace, pulling the corners of her lips down and bringing her lips up a bit while her eyebrows peaked. She almost looked impressed before she turned back to Sophia and back to her resume. The positions she had previously held made her excellent for the job Grace was already doing, but that position was clearly filled. Angela chewed on her lip for a moment before turning towards the back where the customers sat. Humming to herself for a moment, she drug her eyes back to Sophia and let out a soft sigh. "Honestly, you seem qualified for the front desk, but that is Graces job and she does exceptionally well..." She contemplated her options for a moment before she slid the resume towards Grace to file away. "I don't have anything for you that relates to what you're used to, however, if you really want to work here... I could use someone to clean and prep my station for me... Pull out the colors I'll need, stock may gloves, cloth, alcohol and aquafor, sanitize the equipment and make sure it's all shining before my next customer comes in... Does that sound like something you can handle?" Angela's bright blue eyes pierced into Sophia's as she leaned against the counter. An assistant would cut her prep time in half and to have someone there clean up after her--she couldn't stop the smile that formed against her features at the thought. If there was any amount of hesitation on the girls part, she would speak up again, finding herself a bit shocked about how eager she sounded. "I'll pay you $13 an hour, you come in when I come in and you can have weekends off." Honestly, it was the dream offer. There were not too many places around them that would pay that much in wages for the minimal amount of work Angela was asking for. All she could do was hope Sophia took her up on it and teach her what she needed to do as quickly as she could. @Deleted User
