What a day. Claire had been up since 6:30 in the morning, in order to open up the salon she was the assistant manager at. She spent a majority of her day cutting and coloring hair, but there were still some administrative duties that needed to be taken care of. That part bored her the most. Luckily someone else took care of the finances.
The operating hours were 8-4:30.
As soon as the last guest left the building, Claire locked the doors to clean her station. Her tools were sanitized and put away neatly. The bowls from bleach and color were washed and stacked. The towels were fresh, dry, and folded. Perfect. She headed to the back of the building to flip off the main light switch and leave through the employee exit. The door locked automatically behind her. The sun was setting and a cool breeze gave her the chills- it was becoming jacket season.
She climbed into her blue Jeep and threw her purse onto the floor of the passenger seat.
After the wait in rush hour, Claire finally made it home. She hopped down from her vehicle and locked it, grabbing a styrofoam tray. She thought it would be nice to surprise her wife with her favorite coffee drink.
Although life had been busy lately, Claire didn’t want her wife to forget the passion that the two had. Things may have started to slow down for a while, but she just thought that was normal. She knew that they were approaching their five year anniversary and that was indeed a milestone. She would have to start brainstorming a surprise sooner than later.
“I’m home, beautiful!” Claire called out into their home and kicked off her combat boots by the front door. She shuffled into the kitchen with the tray of two drinks and smiled, happy to see the woman.
