Emily had grown up in a loving family, never in her life had she been left wanting. As a single child to her parents, they had made sure that her life was filled with love and happiness. She had finished her high school and went on to go to a great college where she majored in science. Her life had seemed so rose colored. But that was when disaster struck.. Her mother got sick. Advanced breast cancer. Her world had turned upside down when they got the news. Her parents had told her to keep focusing on her studies, but she had soon started to fall behind. Her mother fought the disease best she could. Going through chemo and radiation. Slowly but surely they fought the cancer, fought against that terrible disease that was wrecking her mother’s body. But health care was not free. Even with the insurance of her mother, not all costs got paid. Soon her family was wrecked with debt. Her schooling could no longer be paid and she was forced to drop out. Her father had almost a full time job in taking care of her mother and was no longer able to bring in the income that he once had. That is when Emily decided that she was not going to sit still and watch her parents wither away. She had to help, she could help! Her search for a job had began. At first she had taken every single job she could find, even if they were odd one off jobs. Every free hour was spend working for her cash. That was when a friend of hers had gotten in contact with her. He had given her a number to call, saying that he knew a job that could pay her more then she was making now. Even if it had sounded shady, she had called that number. A few calls later they had given her an address to meet them. Going there had been terrifying. The place they wanted to see her was deep in the woods. Once she parked her car there she found a mansion hidden among the trees. It felt like a scary place, but the money that was promised pulled her in. And that is how she had landed the job that she now worked. A b

ar and lounge hidden away in a place that nobody would seek out unless they knew it existed. The types or people who visited it were rich and dark. Their conversations had soon made it clear what kind of people they were. They were mobs, thieves, con artist.. The type of people that belonged behind bars. No wonder the job paid as much as it did.. it was meant to make her keep her mouth shut. Yet the job itself was not bad. Even if they were bad people, they mostly left her lone. Aside from some simple flirting that she could laugh of she had gotten off well so far. Just bringing them drinks with a smile on her face and giving them small comments back seemed to work in her favor. She had just started her shift that night when her manager walked up to her. “Emily?” She looked up at him as he called her name. “What’s up Eric?” She asked him, curious what had gotten him all flustered. “I need you to serve table one. Don’t worry about anyone else. Just keep them happy.” She couldn’t help but frown her eyebrows together. She turned her head to look at table one. It was one of the booths and from where she was she could see three people sitting around it. “Sure..?” She said, still not understand what the big deal was. “I can do that.” Without much more discussion she would pick up the notepad they used to place orders and walk over to that table. At first she still did not see why that table was such a big deal. But that changed when the one in front of her suddenly raised his eyes and met hers. She felt a shiver run along her spine, stopping her in her steps. What was that..? She forced herself to continue and would force a smile on her face as she finally made it to that table. “Good evening! Welcome! Can I get you something to drink?” @Modern Joker

What had lead him to be here exactly? In a place full of thugs, legal criminals, con artists, and mob heads. Simple... Life was boring, and he had a service to provide. Multiple, his range grew the more he added to his 'Family'. Services that added a certain spice to California. Services that could make him sought after, an urban legend of sorts for years to come. Above all it was just something to keep him busy since he was immortal. His services? Bodyguard services, bounty hunting, sex work, IT, even acting as a loan shark. He had it all at his fingertips, and a lot of people owed him too. So money was always coming, especially now that he had established himself as the Jack of all trades in the underworld. Ah... But this always included meetings, and where else but 'CNTR Andromeda'. A peek-a-boo club and bar that had a lounge for the 'Warlords' so to speak. There he was sitting at the table making business with rising hitmen. 'The Dragons' their employers called them. Earning the nickname because of their intense pyromancy skills. Leon just so happen to be discussing ways for their name grow even higher. Being paid to give them such advice as well as manage their funds for them. He turned his head in the middle of the conversation to the woman who had approached them. Those ghastly and void-like purple eyes shot through hers. Frightening, but also intriguing, the way they glowed, and how the iris slipped into the pupil like an infinite waterfall. They sucked in every bit of confidence from a person.

The two hitmen also looked over to the waitress, even with their thug like getups, somehow they were fiercely over shadowed by the Egyptian. "Ah... good evening sweetheart." He spoked in a low tone, it was his natural voice of course. However, his accent, for lack of better words, sounded confused. Like his origin couldn't be pinned down by listening to him. "Yes, could I just get a glass of Weller 12 year bourbon on the rocks? Please use the distilled ice cubes." He began to turn his head back to the two men that sat across from him, before going back to the waitress. "Oh! Tell Adam to make that wonderful heart shaped ice I love too if you wouldn't mind. Anything for you boys?" He then turned his head back to the other figures, both of which shook their heads. They seemed, shook, frightened somehow. Not in the 'spine tingling everything might fall apart right now' manner. Something more akin of a kid being caught red handed stealing cookies from the jar. @Kitten Naka

The atmosphere around that table was killing. Something about it just made it feel like the temperature was at least five degrees lower then the rest of the lounge that night. Her eyes went from him to his business associates and even she could not fail to notice how they seemed like beaten puppies in the corner of that table. Who was this guy? Why had she never seen him before? Why was her manager so terrified of him that he would assign her a single table while the evening was so busy. As her eyes pulled back to him though she could not help but feel that chill running through her again. She quickly brushed it off her again though, taking a deep breath. You are in the middle of a bar, there is nothing he can do to you. She reminded herself. “One Weller bourbon on the rocks, distilled ice cubes.” She said as she wrote it down on her notepad. She would turn to the other two males just as the male was asking them what they wanted, but they quickly shook their head. Something that made Emily raise an eyebrow. “Alright then. I will make sure Adam knows.” She smiled at them. “I will be right back!” With that she would walk off and again she noticed how her shoulders seemed to relax the moment she was out of their range. She went to the bar and got the order in, making sure that Adam melted the cubes into heart shapes and also serving it in a crystal glass. She thanked Adam for it kindly and then swiftly made her way back towards the table. She made a quick detour to the kitchen and got some table appetizers for them as well. She soon made it back and would make sure that she was not interrupting any conversation before she approached and placed the glass down. “One Weller Bourbon, 12 years aged as requested.” She spoke as she put it before him. “I have also got you gentlemen something to snack on.” She placed down the two bowl of bread dips as well as a small basket of crunchy toasted bread with herbs. There was a small knife with it as well to spread the dip

s instead of they wished to do that. “And with that I will leave you guys to it.” She said with a smile. “My name is Emily and if there is anything you need I will be around. Those two men in front of Leon, hitmen as established. Guns for hire, killers for anyone who had enough cash. They were sitting there, afraid of their financial advisor. Of which looked back to the waitress, he stopped for a moment, thinking. You're rather calm... Must be new... Hmmmm... Let's have some fun, these two are starting to bore me. "Would you mind staying for a moment? I have some questions that'd like to ask, just as soon as I'm done with these two." Leon politely asked the woman, Emily, was her name. The other men looked slightly annoyed when he made the request. Quickly mellowing out when Leon took notice. Until one of them spoke up. "I don't believe there is much more to discuss Dr. Nepherites..." Their accent was a lot more clear, Asian, possibly Japanese origins. Leon responded with a light smile. "Oh but you two don't understand the gravity of your... situation... I can't cover that kind of slip up on a job... And if you two don't find a way to fix it, well you won't bet able to pay up for this month. Say, Emily..." Leon looked back toward the waitress with the same smile, propping his chin up into his palm, with his elbow to the table. "Consider this, you have a wonderful place to live and a maid to clean it for you, both of which need to be paid off-" "This is bullshit Doc-" Leon's gaze shot over to the hitmen again as he was interrupted. "You can stay quiet until I am finished speaking to this fine young lady... Anyway..." He continued and the man immediately shut his mouth, leaning back into his booth. "Big house, people to clean it for you, electricity, water, and every other luxury at your disposal... And you just got a particularly big bonus on your paycheck..." Leon stopped to take a drink from his glass. "You want to celebrate the occasion, go drinking with some friends, no problem right? Of course not..." He then looked over to the men again.

The request to stay in place was an odd one, yet her instructions had been clear. She was to serve table one to the best of her ability. If that meant standing near the side of it like a dolled up mannequin then so be it. She got paid enough for this job to let herself be ordered around in such a way. She did not mind it that much. “Of course, Sir.” She simply said as she took her position near the cubical, making sure that she was not in the way for anyone else trying to pass them by. She tried her best to not listen in on the conversation that was taking place right beside her. She had learned the hard way that the people who came here usually didn’t take kindly to being eavesdropped on. Yet this was a different situation wasn’t it? She had bee requested to stay there in place, he knew that she would be able to hear him. So her curiosity did not allow her to just let that conversation go by unnoticed as they talked. And perhaps that was a good thing as the men, who was apparantly called Dr. Nepherites, called out to her pretty soon. She would turn her head towards him to make sure he knew that she was paying attention. His stare instantly burying into her once more and not allowing her to look away from him. Even her lips parted slightly as her body seemed to have decided that it was not getting enough air without it. She tried to listen to what was being said, but even she couldn’t keep the flinch away when he suddenly snapped at the hitmen before him. One thing became clear quickly. This man was not to be messed with.. and that was probably why she had been told to keep him happy. She would lie if that didn’t make her slightly nervous. She quickly forced a smile again to take away from the fact she appeared nervous. The question that was posed before her was one that made her nervous. There was a clear right answer to it. Yet when the choice was given to her she could not help but fear that she would choose wrong. Dr. Nepherites didn’t seem to be the men

who would take kindly to the wrong answer. “No Sir.” She eventually managed to force past her lips. “I think it would be wiser to pay your bills first.” @Modern Joker

Leon popped a triumphant smile before looking back at the two men who's faces scrunched up in irritation. "Blessings" Leon said mockingly to the hitmen, trying to prove a point. "See? look at that, Emily, a waitress figured it out before you two did. What's better? She's human and just a regular civilian. Doesn't take being a super to figure this shit out nitwits." He then directly insulted them, with a disappointed tone of voice, he was clearly displeased with the two. Stopping for another moment, he once again took a sip from his glass. Sighing he went back to Emily, with a much less perky voice. "Another question, say your boss who provides you so graciously with funds, shits the bed in such a glorious way and is unable to pay you anymore, what do you think the best option would be?" Leon said this in a more sarcastic and rhetorical tone before looking back the hitmen. "I'll answer for you, you either put him in debt, or you leave. This is what I've been explaining to you two for the past half hour up until we got here. Are we starting to grasp our situation?" At the same time the two hitmen, nodded their heads, their foreheads glistening with sweat. "Now, I'll tell you what, you two bring me two months worth of payment by July, and I leave you alone, if you somehow manage to impress me and bring me twice that amount. I'll consider advising you two again. As of now, if I have to look at you two for even a second longer I might start chopping off limbs. Now leave." Without hesitation they got up and left, making it a point to GTFO as fast as possible. Leon sat in thought for a moment before looking back up to Emily. "Ah apologies... Boys right? They just can't control themselves..." He took another sip of his whiskey. "Thankfully, I have some other clients that won't be coming for another ten minutes or so..."

He turned in his seat to face the waitress showing the dark purple suit he wore. The color matched his cutting and glowing eyes perfectly, even more perfect was the dimensions. "Would you care to entertain me a while longer? Tell me some things about yourself, Emily..." @Kitten Naka

She didn't like how she was being used as an example for the two men before her. She might have kept Dr. Nepherites happy, but what about the other two? She had learned that it was best to just be friends with everyone, stay out of arguments if she could. But how had she been able to avoid this one? It just seemed impossible to stay polite and also avoid the question that had been about to be asked of her. So she just bit clenched her jaw as she listen to him making a fool of the two males before him that obvious had a killcount under their belt. That second question came and she was glad when this time he didn't seem to need his assistance and just answered it for herself. Yet that didn't take away the part of her that was shouting that she should get out of there and get out of that conversation. She now was starting to understand why perhaps she, as a newbie, had been put at this table. All the other waitresses seemed to be avoiding it like the plague. She once more flinched as the two men suddenly gathered themselves and their stuff and left like they had just been told that their parents had died. She was left alone with the seeming overlord who had just made two grown men run off with their tails between their legs. She could feel her heart beating quick in her chest, but she refused to show it. It was the good part of having a mother that had been sick for a long time. You learned to put up a poker face even if your emotions were high. You learned to bite your tongue and do what you needed to do. "Seems like they have a lot to think about." she simply told him with a gentle smile across her lips, trying to win favor with the man before her. Yet she couldn't help but wince inwardly as he seemed to wish for her to be the one to entertain him till his next clients came in. "I am afraid there is not that much interesting to tell about me, Sir." she smiled at him kindly. She did not want to share her personal information in this setting. You never knew wha

Leon chuckled a little bit hearing the last bit from her. "Ha I see! That explains how you've been so calm, the others neglect to even come over here. Well, aside from Adam of course, but he's been working here since I helped open the establishment." The man tapped the now empty spot in the booth that was across from him. "Please, Emily, I'm sure you've got a good story in you or two, please. Sit." He requested politely, trying to find a good distraction until his clients arrived. He stopped for a moment, once again, another sip from his glass before continuing. "Now, I know there may have been some things you heard about me from the others-" He stopped again, sighing to himself, forgetting his manners. "Oh my I'm sorry. Where have my manners flown off to? My name is Leon Nepherites. Some here call me Dr. Nepherites as you may have just heard. To be honest, I don't really know where the Dr. title came to be, but we all earn our nicknames soon enough right?" He'd give a soft chuckle, being quite friendly toward the woman. It could've been easily overshadowed by his stature and strange aura though... Let's also not forget the previous conversation. "Why don't you tell me how you even came to getting this job? Very few end up holding a gig like this in the penthouse. There must be some reason you made it up here." He made his inquiry, trying to pick her apart very slowly. Something about this woman... Intrigued him. It might've been because of her looks, or her ability to act so calm in front of men like himself. He couldn't help but wanting to learn just a little bit about her. @Kitten Naka

So there was a reason to not feel calm around him. She was not the only one who found his presence disturbing. Yet she knew that for at least tonight she had no choice but to endure it. She was not about to tell her manager that she would not do the one job that he gave her. This job was more important to her then a bit of discomfort. Yet when he motioned for her to sit across from her she could not help but look over her shoulders for a moment. “We are not really supposed to..” she started to say, but something about the look he gave her told her that saying no would not go well for her. So reluctantly she placed herself across from him, sitting at the very edge of the seat so she could get up at a moments notice if she needed to. She sat across from him when he introduced himself. So his name was Leon.. She had already known his surname, but now she had the full thing. She wondered what she would find if she put that name through google. Perhaps when she night was over she would give it a shot. She didn’t interrupt him as he talked, just sat there and listened. But eventually the conversation circled back to her again and it seemed that he was not willing to accept the usual answer she gave. I am just a waitress, there is nothing interesting about me. Neither did he seem the type to allow her to just turn it around and make it about him instead. He did not seem to have the ego that some of them had. “A friend helped me get in.” She simply said, not willing to tell him who that friend was. She had figured out eventually that the only way to land a job in this establishment was to get recommended by someone who was trusted by the staff. She did not know how her friend had been able to get her in.. and she had decided that she did not wish to know. He had seemed like such a simple person. “And I guess they like me.” She chuckled with him. “I do my job well Sir. I take it very seriously. Which is perhaps why they entrusted me with your patronage tonight.” Sh

Leon looked to his glass seeing it was slowly going down, he had taken more sips than he noticed. He needed to slow down. "Ah no, don't worry about it. Between me and you I'm not even supposed to be drinking right now... But those two... They got into my nerves just a little, but you know what... I trust them to make the right choice." He slowly reached into the pocket in his jacket to the suit he was wearing. Pulling a small gold case, with an Egyptian symbol on it; the eye of Ra. He then shed the suit jacket, folding it neatly beside him, exposing a light purple vest underneath. "Do you smoke Emily?" He asked, opening the case, showing a row of thin cigars neatly tucked under a red velvet band. Slowly and gingerly he plucked one from the row, then held it up to his nose, taking in the fragrance. "Now, Emily, I will say your smart to tell me so little about your life before this job. However, I've been around for awhile and people don't take jobs like this unless they absolutely need the cash. Or just like danger so much that they want to make their life constant gamble." Leon the pulled a small scissor like tool, though the blades were more cleaver looking. He'd used the tool to cut the tip of the cigar, exposing the bare tobacco. "And you don't strike me as the type to be risking your life because you think it's fun. So I'll ask again, and I suggest to answer with something a little more interesting or I'll be leaving a bad review..." He made, what was to him, a light hearted joke at the end. Non-threatening to him, but then again, he held all power in this situation. So a 'bad review' may sound a little more harsh. Oh well. @Kitten Naka

“No Sir, I do not.” She said. She could not afford to smoke. Spending money on cigarettes seemed like a complete waste when that money could be used to aid her family financially. Neither did she drink and most of her clothes were bought on sale. She lived off discounts and sales, because every single dollar she could safe was worth it for her. Her mothers comfort came close and if their debts became to great, they would no longer get the insurance and help that they needed. Yet she would watch as he took out that small golden case with the cigars inside. Normally they did not allow people to smoke inside of the place, but something told her that this guy was allowed to do anything he wanted. So she choose to not say anything about it as he cut off the tip of it. His compliment about her behavior surprised her and made her eyes go up to meet his. He was seeing through her game, seeing through that small trick that most customers would accept. She also did not miss the way that he spoke to her after that. He might have meant the last part of his sentence as a joke, but she could not help but feel the shiver run down her spine as he said it with his eyes looking straight at her. This man was dangerous.. and her body was trying to tell her as much. She swallowed once as she tried to come to an answer that could satisfy him. She took perhaps a moment more then he had liked her to do. In the end she decided that she would be alright with him knowing about her struggle as long as she left her family out of it. “You are correct.” She said then. “I do need the money. Due to some unfortunate circumstances I have found myself in quite a bit of debt.” She explained to him as she tried to keep her gaze steady. “But I am not a dumb girl. I know the kind of people that walk around in this club. I know the risk that I am putting myself in by simply being here. So please excuse me.. but I would highly prefer it if you would not ask about my personal life any further

Leon chuckled a little bit at her confession, then stopping when he heard that she accrued some debt herself. Then he began thinking for a moment, putting the cigar to his lips, holding it there for the time. She is cute, smart enough. On the brink of giving up it seems to me... Hmmm... "Let me tell you something Emily..." He then pulled a lighter from his box as well as a very small ashtray for the cigar. "As you can tell, I am not like these other simpletons that walk around here... I've been a slave, a worker, a killer, a scholar, and a teacher..." He lit his cigar, taking dry pulls from it to fully ignite it. Finally taking a full draw, inhaling the smoke and then blowing it up into the air to avoid getting it in the woman's face. "And I've learned a lot from the long time I've spent on this earth. Going to the far ends of it and learning all there is to know... One of the most important things I learned was from Buddhist monks." He lowered his hand, knocking some of the ash off into his little dish. Then elevating the lit cigar up into the air hoping to keep the smoke away from Emily. "What they taught me was to have the hand of a demon, but have the heart of Buddha. In essence, have the ability to do harm to others, but become conscious of it, understand you do not have the right to toil in somebody else's life without good reason." He'd take another, smaller sip from his glass of whiskey, taking time to enjoy it's flavor. "A lot of these other people want to play God and carelessly dance on the lives of people that are struggling to exist... I do not care for it... It's hasn't been in my best interest in a very long time..." Leon took another draw from his cigar, once again blowing the smoke into the air.
15:37
"Now, I know what you might say to me after hearing something like that... And while yes I do support actual killers... I have people that I love dearly to look after... Seeing what I've seen of you and using the clues I've gathered... You don't live for yourself, your far too close to the brink of bringing yourself as close to suicide as possible... I know the look because I've been at that point too." Leon then set the cigar down, putting it out. His weight would then shift forward looking deep into Emily's icy eyes. "So I have an offer to make to you Emily... If my assumption is correct, and your situation is as dire as I think it is... Tell me exactly what it is... Depending on what it is, I invite you to come work at my manor instead, and I will pay off every penny of debt you have over the course of three months." He'd then finish his drink, setting it down onto the table. "Just three months and you're free to come and go from my manor as much as you'd like... If you don't believe it, don't take my words, take Adam's." Leon pointed to the bartender in question. A shorter, black haired man with a sturdy build, blind in one eye. "He was born into this life with nothing to live for from the very start. Conceived by a woman that was raped, whom later hung herself when he turned fourteen and lived in poverty before and after. Scraping by with barely enough to go to school. Once he turned twenty-one he had the opportunity to work for me as a chauffeur. Now he's working a steady job at thirty-two with a loving wife and a little boy, who by the way is adorable... Of course your responsibilities will be a lot different than what his were, but I can promise a future much better than what the present has for you now." @Kitten Naka

She paid attention to him as he spoke back to her. The truth was that she did not care for what he had been or who he had been. He was here, he was feared by the whole staff.. something was off here. Even if he was justifying his actions behind some kind of philosophy, that did not mean that she was just going to trust him like that. She had no reason to trust him. He was a client, and she planned to keep it that way. So when suddenly his ‘offer’ came on the table she could not help her eye shooting up to him. He was assuming a lot about her. He was assuming that her debt was able to be paid by him that easily. Perhaps that meant he really had a lot of money and no amount could really care. He also assumed that he could ‘fix’ her problem. Which.. with her mother being ill by such a complicated disease was not entirely true. And sure, he wanted her to tell him what her situation was first, but it still seemed that he was not expecting her to say no. She looked over her shoulder to Adam when he was mentioned. She had not known this about the bartender. Just like most staff here, they did not talk about their personal life. They simply accepted from one another that they would share what they wished to share and nothing else. She was not the only one here who appreciated their privacy. Once he was done she looked back towards him. Perhaps he would have had her interest for a small bit, something she would explore. But something about the way that he spoke of her responsibilities being different made her skin crawl. “That is very kind of you, but I am not interested.” She said with a forced smile on her face even when her whole body was screaming at her for detesting the man before her. She figured shooting him down quickly was going to be the best thing to do before she brought up his hopes. “I am more then happy with my employment here.” A complete lie. It was a rough work space, but it was a good place for the pay she got. As she finished her sentence she wou
