One dark and foggy night Thing decided to go out and scavenge through nearby gardens. The gardens belonged to homes just outside the main village. There was word that there was already a small creature stealing from the gardens, but Thing didn’t care. He was too busy being the little thief he was. This night was different however, because he was gonna do a lot more than stealing. The only thing, was that he wouldn’t realize what he was stealing. Thing was doing his thing, grabbing plants, ripping the roots right out of the soil as he steadily walked along the paths between plants. Slowly but surely filling the bag that he carried around with him. The plants were in neat rows along a small area of land that had been tilled specifically for crops. Eventually something catches the creatures eye. He turns his head to look at a small plant between a couple onion plants. It was odd looking indeed, but he reaches down to grab it anyway. Right before the creatures hand wraps around the plant there is a slam of a door from the home right beside the garden. Quickly Thing grabs the plant and stuffs it in his bag, taking off not long after. He ducks, quickly scurrying off the property and back towards the woods. He’s moving so fast, and in a hurry that he has no clue what is really going on in his bag. Not until he stops..

Sleeping in the garden was probably one of the safer options, after stealing from the passing gardens collecting baby carrots, broccolis, potatoes, beets, and a giant turnip; for her size, Dia quickly takes refuge in another random garden just a few housings down, hiding in a shed. “Ok, I think I have enough to last the next few weeks,” Dia says to no one, dragging out her small wand and creating a small ice-cicle knife she had seen other taller creatures use, “Now to just.” she hums before cutting the vegetables into small pieces around the size of her torso and freezing them, before hearing a door open… A door she was sitting directly in front of. “WHAT IS THAT?!?” A woman says pointing an accusing finger at Dia a look of confusion and horror on her face before she grabs a broom before swinging the broom at Dia earning a screech from Dia who quickly gathered her frozen foods, stuffing them into her bag, and running around the broom, literally at her heel, trying to crush her. “GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT!” The woman screeched before another door opened and out came a man and another creature, she’s heard being called a dog, who looked worried before the man sicked a dog after Dia, making matters worse, before she runs off the premise jumping through their gardens before escaping through the fence. “Oh mother of Forest, that was terrifying.” she huffs holding her flower, before looking back seeing the household slowly retreating back into their homes, the woman talking animatedly about the creature she saw, loudly.

“Never again” Dia sighs, before walking some more and noticing the sun slowly setting, ‘I need to find a place to lay down at,’ she notes before finding another unsuspecting garden only a few hours later, by now the sky beginning to darken, as more stars come out, the houses around her, lights turn on, ‘This’ll do,’ she thought before walking under their fence and finding a big enough plant where she could sleep under using on of the leafs as a blanket. It wasn’t long before she passed out, listening to the sounds of music the tall creatures were listening to. The next moment she had awoken, she had been in dark, letting out a yelp. Dia tries to grab hold of the plant she believed was next to her, only to find it not there, “WHERE AM I” her tiny voice shouted finding a wall in the unfamiliar place. In a panic Dia quickly clutches the new found wall before pulling out her wand from her bag, making the wand glow in a green hue she could now dimly see inside what she thought looked like what the inside of her bag would look like, ‘Was I kidnapped!?!?’ she thought before looking around some more looking up and seeing small glimpses of the night sky from the roof of the bag, Dia then took a deep breath. Waved her wand and made the ground under her captor's feet muddy…

The next couple steps that the creatures takes suddenly slows down almost immediately. His feet sinking into deep mud before quickly falling face first in a puddle of thick mud. The bag, that had been unbutton throws all the crops on to the now forest floor, including the Seasonal Sprout. Thing strains a bit trying to pick up his head, mud dripping off his face once he does so. At first he doesn’t notice it, and tries quickly to jump to his feet. The mud slowing him tremendously. A bit dazed from the face plant he reaches down to his other hand, acting as if he grabs something. When he lifts his hand a small blade appears out of thin air. All done in one swift motion. He quickly turns back and forth, twisting his body to cover as much ground as he can to find his enemy. Finally slipping his feet out of the mud, the creature takes a few steps back from the thrown crops on the ground. “Guess there isn’t anyone he-“ He finally notices the small sprout on the ground, his head cocking to the side. It was no surprise to him at all. He heard rumors of Sprouts being found. It was certainly a rare occasion, but Thing didn’t seem too surprised. He himself was a thief. He wanted to play it off, make her as comfortable as she can. He didn’t have the full story yet, but he knew what he was gonna do with the poor creature. “How did you get there? Relax, I don’t mean you no harm.” The creature simply states. Thing opens his hand, the conjured weapon disappearing into a cloud of smoke that gets taken by the wind.

Falling forward, “OH WINTER” she shouts before tucking into a small ball protecting her wand, before hitting the squishy mud, “oof-” she wheezes, groaning as she begins to stand mud coating her clothes, ‘Great, now to make it rain’ she thought before turning around and remembering why she was dirtied in the first place. Seeing her captor Dia quickly begins to back up clutching her small bag of food her face contorts to one of worry “Why did you-” She began before being cut off by the taller, “how did you get there? Relax, I don’t mean you no harm” he said, only making her back up a tad bit more. “W…Why did you grab me.” she asks, watching as the weapon he held vanishes, “I see you do magic too…” she observes hands still wrapped around her wand in a sort of defense, the taller didn’t look too threatening, but that could be said about everything around her, hell even ants don’t look threatening but making one angry could be a death sentence.

Thing raises his hands and shakes them. “No, no, no, you don’t understand. I was out gathering some food.. maybe not in the best way, but I saw what looked like an odd looking plant.” He raises his left hand, his right dangling to his side now. With his right hand he scratches the side of his head. “Then you know.. the people came outside so I just put you in my bag and ran. It’s all a big misunderstanding honestly.” Thing didn’t speak much after saying this. He was too busy wondering how to gain the small sprouts trust. It didn’t take long before Thing broke his own silence, answering the statement about magic. “Before anything, I’m Thing. Don’t worry about what I am, or where I come from, because I’m just here living life to the fullest.” Thing gives a genuine smile, and that was because it was true. Though he didn’t sit and ponder on that. Instead he gets back on track with the original statement. “I can do some things. Conjure weapons, wolves, bears and even golems! I can also resurrect the dead to a certain extent.” It was a shame, because Thing had to work really hard to do the bigger things. He isn’t exactly from these lands at all. He’s from down below. His magic is limited, but it always works out for him when he needs it most. Before long, Thing finally decides to show off some of his skills. He quickly reaches out and cups his hand, when he opens it a crow appears. The crow wasn’t normal looking though, it looked like a cloud of smoke shaped like a crow. The crow turns to look at the sprout, cawing one time before taking off out of Things hands into the night sky. Only crying out a couple more times before exploding into a cloud of smoke, quickly being taken away by the wind. A small smile appears on Things face as he looks into the night sky. “Let’s just say I can entertain myself when I need to.” The creature softly says, before chuckling at his own comment. Finally Thing looks back down at the sprout. “What about you?” He speaks, motioning towar

ds the little plant. “I know that mud wasn’t there before. Show me what you can do.” A soft smile on his face as he takes a couple steps back. Preparing for what she can do.

Dia frowns, "You confused me to be a plant?" lowering her wand slightly before her face contorts to one of bewilderment "How do I look like a PlAnT?!?" she throws her hands in the air, her voice cracking, "While I do understand the running away from the tall giants, why would you just grab something at random!?!?" she stomps, before lowering her wand. "So your name is Thing?" she tilts her head, "or are you a "thing"... I'm lost..." she nods to herself before going into her own head, thoughts and questions of what a 'thing was' before being ripped away by Thing showing his power giving a small clap at the cloud like a crow before it caws at her. "haha….. friendly birdy" she says worriedly, taking a small step back before watching the crow flying off and turning into smoke, "That was incredible! uh... Thing!" she claps once more before thinking of a spell she could do that wouldn't tire her, "Umm well.." she waves her wand in a small circle before the ground shook and the mud turned to ice as the air around the section began to freeze and the mud becoming solid and slippery, "Ta-da!" she says pointing to the ice. "I can control the world around us! ... to a degree!" she hums, before switching the focus of the conversation, "Why were you in the giant's domain?" her tone switched to one of suspicion.

“It is not of concern to know what I am, but I can tell you that my name is Thing.” Thing reaches up and scratches underneath his chin. Before long the little sprout would show her own powers to the creature. He had waited patiently for her to do so. Not ready for the sudden change in ground, Thing quickly loses his balance. Slipping, the black creature falls to the ground with an “oof” leaving his lips. Now staring at the sky, Thing chuckles a bit before raising his head slightly to look at the sprout. “Well I must say I was not expecting that!” Thing says, shuffling himself into a position where he could take a knee. Thing rubs his back, groaning under his breath from the pain that now come from his back. “Well..” he says, pausing to stand up. Once up straight he manages to shuffle off the icy surface and on to solid ground. “The whole reason I thought you were a plant was because I was stealing their crops.” Though Thing hadn’t come up with an excuse for this, and if asked why he wouldn’t have a clue what to say. It didn’t take long for something to click in his head, and he immediately sprung into action. “But, they.. destroyed my home!” He spoke, in hopes the innocent little creature would believe him. He takes a couple steps closer, walking past her a bit. “Speaking of home, I think it’s about time for me to head to my cave. I’m too vulnerable like this, and I’ll stand out in the day light.” Just over the horizon behind them the sun began to shine over the hills. The fog had cleared not long ago, and there was just enough sunlight to make the clouds seen. Birds flew in the distance over the homes they had traveled from before they ended up where they were. “You’re welcome to join, it may look a bit spooky at first, but I’m sure you’ll find some useful ingredients for yourself inside!” He tried reassuring. “I’m a scavenger, I grab whatever I think is interesting, and I collect things that catch my eye. So what do you say little one? Perhaps you can tell me

a little more about your ways, and where you come from?”

Dia grinned watching him fall and underestimate her abilities before nodding, "I'm the great and powerful DIA" She sung before being told as to why she was taken. Dias smile dropped once she heard of his home being destroyed, "oh that's Awful!" She flailed her arms, being very expressive in both action and face, obviously showing concern and a bit of remorse, "I'm sorry the giants have done that to you, ugh and now you live in a cave!?! And you must steal to survive" Dia came to the conclusion with a frown, nodding. "Yes I would love to join you! Maybei can even help" She nods before pocketing her wand into her bag and smushing the mude from her dress... or well more like into her leafy dress. She began to make conversation, "Well." She started, "I come from the land of Fae and Sprouts! It's like this world but the weather changes Much faster!" She nods to herself before walking over to Thing, "I was assigned nature sprout at age 100 in giant years, I was just learning to read by then!" She laughed

Thing nods, turning to eye the small creature. “I do live in a cave, and I must say I quite enjoy it. It’s not really a big cave, but.. it’s home.” He acts as if he is sad after this, but in reality he isn’t. He’s lived on his own, in different forms, different places, all the time. Though this wasn’t up to him, it was up to whoever summoned him. He’s been asked to possess people, and do all sorts of other things. He just won’t speak up about it, because then what he is, who he is will be out there. Eventually Thing begins to walk. The little sprout had started conversation, so he started the adventure back to home. He listened as the little one spoke. He grins and shakes his head. “I find it interesting how different species age. It’s crazy how such a small thing like yourself can live so long. Your home does sound like an interesting place though! I just don’t understand why you left.” He says, strolling along at a slow pace so that the sprout could keep up. It didn’t take long for Thing to figure out that this wouldn’t work. He couldn’t even see the small creature out of the corner of his eye, and he really didn’t want to let a prized possession such as Dia to get out of sight. He suddenly stops, turning his gaze to look at the sprout. “Would you.. would it be easier if you just stood on my shoulder or something, and held on to my fur while we walk? You blend in with everything on the ground, and I don’t want to get too far ahead of you.” Not long after this Thing crouches down and holds out his hand. “If you want to of course.” He says with a small smile.

Dia nods, a look of indifference transitioned to her face, "I mean if you like living in the cave there shouldn't be an issue then.." rather she was speaking to herself or him was up in the air. Quietly following Thing as if stuck in thought, though still actively listening, "Our aging takes forever compared to others, but mother says it was because we hold balance over the land and so we have to populate to keep hold..." she responds, before yanking herself out of thought. "Or something like that, I wasn't really listening to mothers lectures, truly.." She gives a grin and an airy laugh, before noting how he abruptly stops, with a tilt she listens to his request before she jumps in excitement, "YES" she shouts, nodding with an aggressive nod, before sprinting to his hand and climbing with a little struggle. Dia was always too trusting, even the sprouts at home had told her, but despite being told, Dia had made little to no effort in changing her ways, always seeing the good, even when beings; like the tall giants were out to kill her or atleast shoo her away, this is how she is and always will be in her humble opinion.
