Reaching down and petting the puppy under the chin, Matthew spoke in a slightly higher tone to make the dog’s tail wag enough that it wiggled its rear end, “Going for a walk are we, Maxxy? I know you would really like that, getting to run with your mommy and chase some leaves. Doesn’t that sound fun Max?”
Chuckling while looking up, Matthew saw the last flicker of her phone disappearing into her pocket as she brought her hand back up. Smiling slightly as he chose not to say anything about it, Matthew could not help the authentic smile that spread across his lips at the mention of coming over to eat with them. Standing up and stepping forward, he grinned before speaking in a soft voice, “With the amount Jeremy has packed away, I’d have to guess that your food is extremely tasty. I swear he is having a harder time putting on his chest rig, and it’s not all from beer. I don’t know, are you trying to fill me up too?”
Winking at her as he stood against his truck, he looked her over a little more casually now, his eyes betraying him as they moved up her body slowly. Looking at the phone as she pulled it out to check it, he shook his head slowly when she spoke, “You have nothing to apologize for, I can understand wanting to check and see where he is or when he is coming home. If you’d like, I can come over and keep you company until he gets home.”
Smiling and looking into the back of his truck slightly, he looked back to her and nodded as she mentioned the lasagna, a growl coming from his stomach as he spoke, “I would love some of your lasagna Aria. I have nothing at home, so I would take anything you have to offer me.” It was only after he spoke that he realized the innuendo in his words, drawing a slight blush to his cheeks. Bringing his hand up to scratch the back of his neck gently, his eyes glanced down the road when he heard Jeremy’s truck clearly.
