A light shiver runs through Arthur as they step outside. He has long been accustomed to the cold, but his cat-like nature gave him a preference to warmth. He had spent many nights out in the wilderness beside warm fires, something he finds comfort in, as well as a sense of security. He watches Celeste stop beside the railing. Upon hearing her question, he rolls his shoulders and steps out into the clearing before her. Holding his hands out, palms turned upwards, he explains and demonstrates.
"There are the basic elements, fire, ice, lightning..." From a spark, a small ball of fire forms just above his open right hand. It dissipates before a shard of deep blue ice crystalizes above his left hand. Same as before, it too dissipates before Arthur turns his hands to the side, arcs of lightning jump between his hands. The arcs of magical energy gathering into a volatile orb that holds in the air between his hands for a moment before fading out. "Beyond that, I have more specialized, personal forms of magic."
He lets his arms relax at his sides as he closes his eyes and breathes. The air around him shimmers as a film of golden magic forms around him. "Couriers, Humans, Elves, we are not magical beings naturally. We gain these abilities from exposure to the magical energy of our world when we are born. Some are quick to master it. Others require self discovery to unlock theirs. But once found, that person can manifest the magic within their body to form something uniquely theirs." He looks up at her, wrapped within a protective shell of magic.
"The Elves have a whole philosophy concerning magic. They believe it is a manifestation of one's soul, referring to such magic energy as "mana." As you can imagine, they are highly protective of their teachings and knowledge of magic use. It was no surprise that when word of a defector was found teaching their arts to a neighboring country, to Couriers no less, direct action was necessary to deal with him."
Arthur sighs and look
