Liliana stayed quiet, listening intently to him. It was odd to see this man, nude for the most part of the conversation, discussing with her how he will guard her, the details and terms of the pact they had made as if the ferocity and savage events the evening prior were nothing more than a fever dream. It was an odd jump to go from a relatively normal existence, to the passionate wildfire of the evening, only to snap back to her relatively normal existence again; the only difference being that her shadow now had a physical form and a voice.
She did not struggle or fight him when he pulled her against him, nor when he required her lips during the conversation. Lily was beginning to expect this of him. That he would require this to continue to function properly. The idea of whether this had been a blessing or a curse for her kept toying in the back of her mind. For now, I think I will try to see him as a gift... I'm not confident I can fully trust him but I can trust I think, that he will destroy anything he sees as a threat to his... possessions... Nodding, she accepted the terms he laid out, acknowledging that all she need do is whisper to him and he would hear her, and he would assist her. She wasn't to speak about him to anyone; he was to remain secret. Lily wondered what he might define as a threat and if the definition would line up with the same idea of it that she did, but the woman decided not to ask. It was a question she worried about the answer to.
Her gaze instead was entranced with the way he materialized the armor and clothing from simple smoke. It wasn't the first time she'd seen him do something like this, but she did find it amazing nonetheless. Lily found herself standing to watch him, just for him to announce they were not alone and slip into the shadows. No sooner had he mentioned the maid's presence, did she knock on the door of the suite and make her way in. An older looking woman, clad in a servant's uniform, holding a similar tray of food and tea with a scroll of the day's duties that Lily would be required to complete. The dumpy woman looked confused that Lily was not only awake, bathed and dressed, but also seemed to already have breakfast to enjoy.
"I wake with the sun...I apologize for any trouble you went through on my behalf." Liliana explained, her voice gentle and sweet to the confused servant. She wasn't necessarily lying, she had woken with the dawn's sunlight though truthfully she had no idea how Duevo not only got the food and tea for her but was able to do it so secretively. He truly is magnificent.
The scroll lined out her schedule, the order of appearances she was required to make, who she was to meet and discuss internal matters and affairs with. Where she was to go, even when she would be permitted to eat. If he felt leashed to her, he would soon see how tied she was in this position. The breakfast she ate was from the tray he had procured for her, one part because she feared if she snubbed his kindness by not eating any of it than he might be upset with her, but also because she wanted to show that she did actually appreciate the kind effort he had made.
Sooner than she would have preferred, she was ushered out of her room, and just as he said, he was out of sight to her. Idly the maid fussed about the evening's events that Liliana had missed. There had been a terrible calamity in the palace. There had been some darkness, an unclean spirit of destruction and chaos that had caused mayhem within the palace. It had killed a pair of guards and before it could be apprehended it had escaped without a trace. Liliana feigned ignorance of the events when the maid questioned how she could have slept through such disaster, though she couldn't help the raised eyebrow and disapproving glance she made towards the shadow at her feet. Really now... Such a tantrum all because I couldn't take all of you down my throat? Honestly...
