At the end of the day, Olivia had wiped down countertops, restocked cups and lids, and sprayed the glass entry doors with a strong, pine-tree scented window cleaner. They were now less grubby from fingerprints that occurred throughout the day. The last kitchen employee had left. She locks the back and front door to the building and heads out to her car to drive home. The sun was set to go down in the next hour. What a day.
At home, Olivia was lonely. It was still and soundless, the faint glow of a television coming from the TV as her roommate was asleep on the couch but the audio had been muted. Her roommate was her best friend, but had more of a social life than Olivia did. She hadn't gone out much lately, but not that clubbing or such nonsense was her thing anyway.

For the first few minutes of her shift, Liv was requested to help out with the long line of customers at the front of the house before she would make her way into the kitchen. She rolled her eyes at this without anyone noticing and pushed open the heavy 'Employee Only' door to clock in for the day. She slipped out and behind the guest service counter, setting a hot tray of fresh Banana Chocolate Chip muffins into a clear glass container, ready to be served. She dusts off her hands and pulls on a pair of gloves. She smiled at the elderly man in line who requested an iced green tea with honey, and started to prepare that for the kind man right away. She fills the plastic cup with ice and squeezes the bottle of honey to line the cup with perfect, sweet golden spirals before pouring in the earthy green brew. She pops the lid on tightly and plucks a paper-wrapped straw from the stack and passes it along to him.
Olivia paused when she saw the familiar
It was finally the weekend. Olivia's alarm went off, and it played a quiet jingle. She pulled up her plush blanket a little higher and reached to her phone to mute the alarm, and check the typical notifications. Sat upon the surface of her desk across the room was a crumpled white napkin next to her flame-crested gecko's habitat. The phone number napkin. It had sat in that same spot for three days now, and every time she saw it she tried to avoid it. She sighed and sat up out of bed and walked across the room, just to pick it up and sit in a pink bean bag chair that was on the floor. It's about time.
'Hi.' The text message was plain and simple, but he would certainly know who it was, right? She pressed the blue send arrow and then looked up at her gecko. "Too bad you can't give me any advice." She said to him, and looked back at the message that she had just sent.

Olivia poured cream and a teaspoon of vanilla syrup into her coffee and strolled to the comfortable, plush couch where she could enjoy her morning with a good television show. Thankfully it was Saturday, her day off. She was lucky enough to not work weekends, thanks to her parents. She dug her arm wrist deep into the cushion to her left and pulled out the TV remote. Typical that it always seemed to get stuck under there. Light footsteps pattered from upstairs and Liv's roommate, Jane, was finally awake. The blonde haired woman casually walked down the carpeted steps and joined Liv in watching a show.
