Free to good home- a shifter or anthro rp, something fluffy and slutty for shits and giggles, with non explicit trafficking undertones and master/slave intentions… but I’m not married to that. Get in touch if interested. *It’s not his fault they didn’t know the species requirements. Or that the last house was especially flammable. Or that he simply wasn’t a good pet for kids… Or shouldn’t be around kids really at all. Not that that stopped the last few families. Humans…. Why did it always have to be humans? And why couldn’t they have just ditched him in the woods like they do with the other pets they don’t want? But no, they had to stuff him in a box, and leave him who knows where knowing full well he couldn’t get himself out. Stupid specialty crates. He was a fully sentient creature! He shouldn’t be anyone’s pet. Just because his animal form looks cute and some asshole managed to trap him in it with this stupid collar… * no one has the right! From an outside perspective one would see a violently shaking box as the creature within threw a temper tantrum for the umpteenth time that hour. Puffs of smoke and sparks of flame rising from the air holes in the side and when that cleared a flash of dark iridescent scales, small horns, and one can’t be sure but perhaps a pair of leathery wings. There was a slightly scorched piece of paper taped to the top that read ‘free to a good home.’ (edited)

Regardless of the fact it was already getting late and the sun going down, Dayne was still walking around town. And how lucky for him to have been doing so, as he saw the sudden burst of flames until they dissipated. He slowly walked over, pulling his hair back to somewhat prevent it from burning incase the flame returned. "What do we have here?" His eyes narrowed onto the note, before properly glancing onto the creature within. "Oh~ Well hello there, little guy. Do you need a new home?" @Baz (edited)

Toothless growled at the new voice, not a very menacing sound with him stuck being so small, but he growled nonetheless to show his displeasure. Who was this voice? What did they want? He wanted freedom, his home, not to be caged. This mortal and all mortals were ridiculous to think otherwise. He turned in his cage towards the sound of the voice and placed his head against the wall to peer out at the newcomer. He looked like a hippy. This should be interesting. @𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐳𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬

"Well aren't you fussy?" He laughed at the creature before carefully opening the cage, and offering a hand. "I'm not sure if you know English, let alone any human language.. But if you're nice, I'll make sure you get all the fancy... food of your choice, and a warm home." With being the owner of a casino, he had a decent income, and would be more than able to take care of this creature. Not to mention how small it was, it couldn't possibly need all that much. @Baz

As soon as the cage was open he flared his wings spit fire and attempted to take flight. Attempted being the key word here. His collar had been attached by a small chain to the interior of the cage and when he took off it essentially clotheslined him and he fell hard on his back, scraping up his wings. He turned over and breathed fire on the chain attempting to melt it to get away but the heat of his fire in this form wasn’t enough. He wouldn’t be surprised if the chain had been enchanted to hold him too. When he realized his efforts were fruitless he looked up at the human, regarding him with a snarl. @𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐳𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬

"Well look at that. Either you can be nice.. Or I can leave you here in this. It's your choice." He shrugged, before offering his hand again. "Let me pet you and I'll take that as 'I would like to be in a comfortable home' and otherwise.. Enjoy this metal crate. I hope no one's really craving dragon pelt.." He had a bit of a cruel smile, he knew he was in power, and he loved it. @Baz

Pet him? He was not a pet. He was not meant to be pet. He didn’t want to be pet. But he did want to be free. He considered the human for a moment backing away as far as the chain would allow. He didn’t like the look of this one’s smile but what choice did he have? Looking around there were no other humans around and he had already been in the cage for hours. This was his first and potentially only chance at freedom. He didn’t have a choice. No good ones anyway, so he sat still straining against the chain and wrapped his wings around himself protectively offering only his head to be pet as he grumbled unhappily at his predicament. @𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐳𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬

Dayne gently pet the creature, before leaving it be. "Now, I'm going to take you with me, and you can find somewhere comfortable to rest at my home, I'll even make you some food, I can only imagine how hungry you must be." He used both hands to lift the crate, thankful for the more open and lightweight design as he started carrying it the block or so left until his home. "I do hope you'll like it where I live. If you can find some way to show me things that you like I can do my best to get more for you." @Baz (edited)

Not wanting to be hanged the dragon begrudgingly climbed back into the cage for the ride to this man’s residence, grumbling all the way. And if he took some pleasure in knowing that he weighed a significant amount for such a small creature and this man now carried both him and the cage, well that was his business. He doubted he’d like the place, considering he was going there as a pet. He also doubted this human would appreciate his antics within his home. But he supposed he could make do if there was a fireplace. He craved the warmth after being stuck in a cold metal cage for so long. @𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐳𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬

After a couple minutes of lugging the other around and tiring out his arms, they arrived at a modest home, as he unlocked and walked in. "Now, I have one request. Don't burn anything. If you absolutely need to get it out, go to the basement. It's all stone so nothing should catch fire." He spoke softly, and did his best to be careful with the other as he undid the chain, and lifted him out. "Oh dear your wings.. Are you alright? Would you like anything right now?" @Baz

He shook off the human’s touch once he was safely free of the cage and looked around the place. Almost everything he could see was burnable which posed a problem. He couldn’t always avoid spitting out here and there, especially when he sneezed. That’s what got him kicked out of the last place. Looks like he needed to figure out where the basement was then. But first the human made a good point. He had managed to scrape a few scales off his wings when he bit the dust earlier and the exposed skin was irritated now. A bath usually helped when he shed, he supposed he could try that now, but he couldn’t exactly communicate in this form. Slowly he backed away from the human, once he was sure the man wasn’t going to pounce on him for walking away he turned his back on him and began exploring the place. He followed the scent of food to the kitchen and flew up to the counter to investigate the sink. He figured he was small enough to fit inside and began preparing himself a bath. Clearing the sink and plugging the hole in the bottom with the stopper. When he was satisfied he turned on the tap to the hottest it would go and plopped himself down under the running water, producing some smoke with his contented sigh at the heat. It wasn’t fire but it was better than nothing. @𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐳𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬

The man slowly followed the small dragon, watching it with curiosity as he watched it manage to put in the stopper and even turn the water on. "Well you're a smart one aren't you?" He walked to the fridge and thought for a moment. "Give me a growl if you want.. Bacon. Or ham." He kept searching the small fridge as he listened for either silence or a growl. After picking out whatever the little dragon decided sounded alright, he proceeded to sit and watch the thing in the sink, before offering a hand. "I can help wash you, if that's ok. I can only assume it's a bit tricky to do it yourself..." @Baz

Of course I’m smart. I’m a dragon. What is it with humans thinking they are the smartest things on the planet? Toothless rolled his eyes at the remark. When the human started offering meats he perked up. He was starving. He pulled himself partway out of the sink to try to see inside the humans cold box of foods, dripping water all over the counter and floor. It all sounded good, he was a fan of pork in general and gave a soft growl for both the bacon and the ham hoping for both and any other pork products the man had to offer. But when the human offered to help him bathe he sunk back into the water completely submerging himself and abandoning his food that he had yet to eat, he didn’t want to dirty his bath water by eating so close to it. He didn’t want to bathe so much as he just wanted to soak, but the human was right. He didn’t have enough room in the sink to do anything other than soak. Out in the wild he would swim through kelp or other water plants to scrub away the grime. When he reemerged from the water it was to cautiously grab the sponge in his mouth to place it on the front edge of the sink for the man to use. When he released the sponge he smacked his lips in distain of the taste of soap still on the sponge, and gurgled some of his water to rinse away the taste before submerging himself again, still unsure of the human.

"What a big appetite! Well alright, as soon as you're all clean!" He watched the dragon offer him the sponge, and laughed at the others reaction to the taste. Dayne grabbed the sponge and gently started scrubbing the other, he would've used a washcloth, but if the other was fine with just a sponge, it meant he didn't have to grab one from the bathroom cabinet. "Is this alright? Would you like me to scrub softer? I don't want to make you uncomfortable little guy." The man paused before smiling. "Since I'm not sure what you must have for a name, until you have a way of telling me, I'll call you Drake. Like the creature! I hope.. that makes sense." @Baz

The dragon offered a wing stretching it out for the man to scrub off any other loose scales to speed up the healing and regrowth of new scales. When he was satisfied with the progress he stretched out the other wing, and once both were done he took the sponge back with his hands this time and put it back where he found it, signaling that the man’s help was no longer needed. When the human said he’d be called Drake until they could better communicate a name the collar around the dragons neck took the statement seriously, momentarily tightening to signal new ownership as the letters on the nameplate rearranged to spell out Drake. When he could breathe again the dragon huffed in resignation letting out a small puff of smoke through his nostrils. Here we go again. He kicked the stopper out of the hole in the sink and went for the meat leaving a trail of water in his wake. @𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐳𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬

There was a moment where Dayne was panicked, but after the collar relaxed again he mellowed out, but the panic came back as he pulled off his shirt, wrapping the other in it to dry off. "Nope. Absolutely not. You're making a mess. Dry off for a second while you eat, and then... We can.. watch a movie? I guess? I'm not quite sure what you might enjoy." He felt somewhat bad. Clearly the other understood things to a human degree, but the vocals of his body didn't quite make it easy to communicate. At this rate he'd started seriously considering morse code with barks or growls. @Baz

Toothless BOT 27-Aug-22 05:33 PM
The collar restricted his use of his own magic, otherwise he would quite literally spell everything out in the air in smoke or fire, but he couldn’t. And he couldn’t speak until his dumb new owner figured out how to change his form with the collar. Which all things considered was probably best not to do indoors, lest the man accidentally choose his true form from the options. He squawked in indignation when the shirt came crashing down on him and he was manhandled into drying off. He could feel the loops of fabric catch on his scales and it was an uncomfortable feeling to say the least. But instead of struggling and worming his way free and risk hitting the floor as a result he just breathed a few sparks into the now wet shirt setting it to smolder. As soon as he had a hole big enough he popped his head through and growled at the man. He didn’t care that he broke the no fire rule, he’d rather not be smothered in dirty clothes. @𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐳𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬

The blonde chuckled at the others reaction to the shirt, however he didn't quite mind it as he watched the other, finding his small antics incredibly endearing. He was even daring enough to gently rub along the dragons back as he ate, however he was ready to stop if he was shown it was the appreciated to even the slightest degree. "How do you.. take care of dragons..." He muttered to himself, before turning to the dragon again. "You, stay here please. I'll be back in a minute, I'm gonna get a new shirt." And with that being said he walked off, using his phone to look for any and all information on dragons. @Baz

When the man reached to pet him he wriggled around placing himself between the human and his food. He allowed the touch but he wasn’t about to let the man take the food he had given away from him, that was just poor manners. When the human wondered aloud about how to care for dragons the dragon huffed and thumped his head down onto the counter. Of course the stupid human knew nothing. Of course he didn’t. Why would any human? Let’s just pick a random lethal magically handicapped dragon off the street and see what happens. What could go wrong? By the time the human returned the dragon had eaten all the offered food and further ruined the shirt he had been trapped in. It lay in a smoldering heap in the sink but the dragon otherwise hadn’t moved from his spot. @𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐳𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬

The man returned with an emused chuckle, as he held his arms out. "Come on, I'm gonna show you around, try and bond about, that kinda stuff." Dayne was a bit of an idiot, he hardly thought before making a decision and even when he did he was usually entirely focusing on the upsides and disregarding what could negatively affect. If there was ever proof of that, it'd be the dragon he now owned. "Hmm.. Oh! If you can understand the alphabet, I can try and map out something for you to type with! Wouldn't that be great, Drake?" @Baz

When the man beckoned him over the dragon jumped and flew from the counter top to perch on his shoulder, wrapping his tail around the man’s neck for stability. He didn’t think anything the man had to show him was going to change his opinion on how all of this was going to go but he didn’t really have a choice in the matter, even with his best effort to be good humans had always been either ill prepared or tyrannical and he always ended up getting put out again. And he was over it now. He just wanted food in his belly a hot place to sleep and if possible he wouldn’t turn his nose up at the opportunity to keep a hoard. The dragon nodded along with the human’s suggestion. He knew how to read and write, he could do that if the human could make it happen. @𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐳𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬

Well then. That was easy. The tail was a bit unexpected but he could still breathe fine so he didn't react much to it. "Now Drake.. I want you to have a nice room, and lucky for you, I have a small office connected to mine! You'd be safe and sound more so than you already are with the whole.. dragon thing! And then it's easy for me to make sure you're doing alright, like you don't need food or anything! Isn't that gonna be nice?" He offered a genuine smile to the small creature. "And- and, I know.. I know it's nothing compared to what you might want to live with or in.. But I like to think this is a good substitute for now! You're fed and bathed, and you won't have to be cold for a long long time!" @Baz

Being a tiny dragon offers less protection than you think, human. The dragon studied the room from his human perch but he didn’t get down to explore his new room. He didn’t know how he felt about the close proximity and easy access to bother him… but such is the life of a pet he supposed. The room certainly didn’t look very inviting to him but maybe that would change as the human learned more about his needs. He knew from past experience that anything the human found online about dragon care is mostly bullshit and loosely veiled methods of control, the sooner this human could set up a communication method the better and sooner he could set any false notions straight for his own sake. @𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐳𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬

Dayne didn't know what the little dragon was thinking, but he did hope it was positive. "I'm sorry I don't have a better bed for you yet, but I'll get you one as soon as I have the whole talking thing figured out." Dayne sat down on the edge of his bed, deep in thought at the potential means of communication. "Who woulda known impromptu dragon care isn't that easy?" He laughed a bit as he sighed, he felt bad. He wanted to offer the dragon shelter and somewhere safe, but he couldn't even communicate with it. Would he even be able to meet all of its needs? Dayne would certainly try! He'd do his best to offer the dragon a safe place to live, fresh food, a way to clean, and everything else it might need to be happy and healthy. It just might take a decent bit of trial and error. "So, wanna watch a movie while I do some looking for a way to talk?" @Baz

The dragon smacked the man with his wing in a mocking ‘well who would’ve thought-dumbass’ sort of way and leaped from his shoulders. The human had an office, which meant he had a computer with a keyboard and hopefully a word document application for it. That would do. He was small enough to use the keyboard in this form without destroying anything. Humans really were dumber than rocks. But he got it done and pulled up a writing app then moved to the keyboard to type ‘Cold blooded need heat Dark space like cave Raw meet but any pork good’ He looked up at the human to ensure he was understanding what was being typed then continued ‘ignore internet full of tyrannical bullshit and control tactics@𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐳𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬

Hearing that the human intended to be a good owner along side his apparent willingness to listen to his instruction have him a small spark of hope that this one might be different. He still rolled his eyes at the last comment and typed out a little something for the man to think on dragons not meant to be owned Of course some power hungry, probably human, fucked that up somewhere down the line and that lead them all to this. your name? Once the move to the couch was made the dragon made himself comfortable on the back of it, perching on the back of it like a cat. He kept glancing at the human as he settled to make sure he was ok in the place he chose, in his experience it was rare for him to be allowed on the furniture so he was a little paranoid about it. After turning on a recently made animated film about the powers of sisters and not trusting new people instantaneously, Dayne got settled down. He rested his head on an armrest and a single hand gently rested by Drake, offering it in both to pet him as he'd grown personally fond of, and to give him an easy means of getting his attention, whether with a claw or nudge, both seemed to work in his mind. The dragon had no reason other than past experience to not take this man for his word, so far he’s been kind to him if impulsive in his decision to take on the care of a dragon. Still the little dragon didn’t want to put the man’s words to the test just yet. If he needed something he could find a way to get it himself, he might not be able to be quite about it, but he could get it done. He kept to himself on the back of the couch, starring blankly at the tv screen as his eyes got heavier and heavier. It wasn’t long before the small dragon was quietly snoring. At some point he stretched out in his sleep and a wing brushed against Dayne’s hand. Feeling the heat radiating from it he inched his way closer until he had completely wrapped himself around the hand hugging the warm appendage to his chest. @𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐳𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬

The man was getting quite tired as he watched the movie, however, even with his half sleeping brain, he still managed to notice the dragon around his hand. And of course he used his free hand to take a picture! He found this quite adorable and a necessary image for his lockscreen. He would've tried to carry the dragon onto his own chest, but he knew he'd likely wake the small dragon, and as such decided to give him peace, deciding he'd finally gotten time to relax from the harsh world and people outside of this small little home. And then he promptly fell asleep with his phones new lockscreen proudly displayed on his chest. @Baz

When the dragon woke a few hours later he found himself wedged between the humans side and the back of the couch in a little burrow he made for himself in the cushions. He panicked a moment making sure he didn’t claw holes into anything and not seeing any he relaxed slightly into the warmth he found himself in. He must have followed the feeling of heat from the human in his sleep. He popped his head out of the hole he had made for himself and eyed the human’s face seeing he had also fallen asleep. How long had they been like this? Did he know? Should he try to move? Dayne seemed nice enough. He probably wouldn’t mind. When the dragon turned his attention to the tv he spotted the man’s phone and on the screen a picture of him. Gingerly he moved to get a closer look, conforming to himself he had in fact followed the man’s body heat. After a beat he had the realization that nature was calling him to relieve himself but they hadn’t covered that topic yet, of where he could go for that. Carefully he pulled himself out and onto the man’s chest to get a better look at the space. Was there a back yard? He couldn’t remember. @𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐳𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬

If Dayne were awake he'd happily help the teeny dragon, but until then, the dragon had to fend for itself in the oversized house compared to itself. @Baz

Bathrooms! Humans had bathrooms in their houses now. Maybe he could figure out how to use the toilet. the dragon carefully jumped to the ground trying not to disturb the human and sniffed around for the bathroom but he found that that door was also closed and it’s handle was not one he could he could easily manage. He supposed he could go in the kitchen sink… with his previous masters he wouldn’t have thought about it twice but this one… seemed like he might actually, eventually, be a reasonable human to live with and he didn’t think that would bode well for whatever this relationship was becoming. With a sigh he went back to the couch. With a loud trill he jumped onto the arm of the couch to trill again in the human’s ear. @𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐳𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬

Sadly, Dayne didn't quite understand the small dragons needs, he didn't quite understand dragon body language yet. "Cmon, just lead the way." He gave the dragon a gentle rub with his index finger as he stood up, stretching briefly. The soft waves of his almost golden hair shone hazily with the dim sunlight peering through the windows. His eyes shone too, if merely from still not entirely being awake.

The man watched him before standing up to chase, after he went behind a corner. "Ohh you need out! Alright, here you go. I'll leave the door open so you can come back in when your done. And I'll even make some bacon for your breakfast!" He did as stated, opening the door for the little dragon before heading to the fridge, getting a pack of his favorite Canadian bacon out as he started cooking the humble breakfast. @Baz

The dragon darted out the door once it was open and ran for some nearby bushes for cover and privacy. He didn’t like being this small out in the open and on his own. Once business was taken care of he had the thought that he could just… fly away, but the weight of the collar reminded him that’s not really an option. When he was done he bounced back inside and flew up onto the counter to watch Dayne finish cooking. @𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐳𝐲𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬
