"Where did she come from? What was she doing in those woods?"
"I hear she was fighting Tuck's hounds, with her teeth!"
"Is she a fey? I don't see no pointy ears."
"She ain't a fey! Can't be, they ain't real!"
The people gathered around the cage in the center of town part reluctantly as an armed gaurd pushes his way through them.
"Make way, make way! Hey! Get the fuck out the way boy!"
I press myself against the far side of the cage as the man behind the gaurd comes close. He studies me, so I study him. After a while he speaks.
"What is your name?" He asks. I don't say anything.
"Who are you? Where are you from?" He says, a bit louder. I growl low in my chest. His voice hurts my head. I spent most of the night bashing myself against the bars of the cage, trying to escape.
"Has she spoken at all? To anyone?" The man asks. The rest of the people stay silent. Then one voice calls out, one voice I recognise. One that makes me snarl and dart across the cage when I hear it right behind me. I growl the entire time he speaks.
"I recon I heard her speak. Right proper English, too. Thought my hounds had got on a wolf, the noise she was making at first. Couldn't tell what they'd got on, once I caught up. Almost shot her, till she cried out words. First thing she said was, "call them off!", and I called my hounds back. They came quick, and she didn't move from where she was. Then she said, "help me!". So I brought her to my wagon, but I recon she didn't care to be in the wagon. She went a bit...wild on me. Started trying to bite me when I was treating her dog bites, I had to knock her out. Then I figured it was best to put her in the cage, before she could hurt somebody else."
I hear the man's story and snort, then lunge at him, reaching through the bars to try and tear his throat out. The hounds had only tried to kill me, what he had tried to do was worse.
The man with the gaurd watches me for a moment, then turns and speaks to the gaurd. The gaurd nods, and walks away.
"I'll be taking her off your hands, I'm sure there will be much interest in this story at castle Dunbar. Thank you for your troubles, if you speak with the debtor next quarter you'll be compensated for your efforts."
With that, several gaurd came with two long poles and inserted them through the cage to lift and carry it. I quickly climb up on top of the poles, liking the higher vantage point. They deposit me on an open wagon, then throw an oiled tarp over the cage. The dark suits me just fine, it gives me a chance to rest, and eases my head.
(Looking for a male oc, let's hear your ideas! Lots of places someone could fit in, here. All you have to do is gain her trust, find out her story. Win her heart?)
