Eight years since Formosa came into Imperial Japanese hands back in 1895, many Japanese soldiers being stationed on the island, such as Private Chikao Itoh.
He was stationed near an army barracks within the city of Taihoku on guard duty, watching everyday life he saw both Japanese and native Formosans go about their day.
