Ian was just about to relax for the weekend when he got the call from Mark. He reckoned that it would have been about plans for the weekend since him and Mark hadn't been out for the past weeks but when he got to know that Mark had broken up with his ex and was busy banging another chick he had just met, he wasn't really surprised. He was happy for his friend, but he was kind of bummed out that it would mean another weekend when Mark would be busy. He would be cheerful during the call to support his buddy since they had known each for a long time now..
And it was a long time indeed. They had graduated together almost 5 years ago and whilst they had been inseparable during their uni days, times had changed for the both of them. A lot of things had. They were roommates in the start, they weren't anymore. They had interned together but while Ian was just switching jobs, Mark had done well for himself and gained success. But success is funny, it changes people and it certainly changed Mark.
No longer was their talks just talks anymore, it was outright a one way street where Mark almost expected his wingman to now suddenly be his yes man. And that was starting to grow them apart a little bit. But Ian was still happy since he was doing what he loved and he was working in start ups and learning more than Mark. Or so he had thought and it did surprise him when their common friend had even told him that Mark was jealous of him..
But he knew that was the time when he had to try and bridge the gap and he had been actively trying to be more in touch with Mark and talk to him any chance he got. But this particular call just seemed like Mark was trying to gloat. Ian's love life hadn't been great, he had dated some and that was basically the start and the end of it. Work kept him busy and he hadn't really dated anyone too long. But after the call, he would sink into his couch and just wonder if he should do something.. If he should maybe try going out himself..
