Mathew Tallin, always thought of himself as unlucky. Not that his luck was bad by any means, in fact he was more fortunate then most, but never excellent at anything. Always on the basketball or football team, but never the star player. He got good grades in school, but never was the person who people thought of as a genius. In other words he was perfectly average. However, one a rainy night, it so happened that his luck or lack there of would be truly tested. What felt like lucid dream of stars falling through the windows of his apartment, rain sprinkling against his face and cool gusts of wind thrusting him in the air. Bright flashing lights blink around him, purples and blue, yellows and orange before white takes over. His bed replaced by a soft field of freshly dewed grass, his blankets instead with the warming comfort of a suns rays and his birthday suit, in which he slept in, now tattered cloth, with leathered armor and a bow next to him. The cool winds brushing against his cheeks slowly waking him to what he would for the time being have to call home. This lucid dream, in fact was reality for Mathew now.
A faint yawn, followed by a few eye rubs, he slowly and softly prepares himself for what he thought we be another perfectly average day. Slowly sitting up and smacking his lips once or twice, he opens his eyes. His eyes go from a sleepy gaze to one of panic in mere seconds.
A glistening green field spread with trees fully grown and immersed in nature. The world waking up for these new arrivals. Squirrels gently walking down the trees in search of food and bunnies thumping their feet against the ground. Early birds chirping, as water from a nearby river flows gently. Peaceful.
As Mathews eyes fully open, he disrupts that peace with a loud scream.
“What- The- Fuck?!?!?”
