The beast that Cieran had become walked haltingly towards Aurora, craving her, the scent of her fresh blood wafting towards him, driving his madness. He grabbed her and she wimpered, tears running from her eyes. Cieran looked at her, breathing heavily. "AU...RO....RA...." He stuttered the syllables, trying to wrestle control from the poison in his veins. "I...IM...SOR...RY" Cieran winced, and a single tear flowed down his cheek. He'd tried so hard to resist, he loved Aurora so much and wanted the future he'd always promised her, ruined by this wretched king that lay dead in front of him. Cieran took another breath, inhaling the sweet scent of Aurora's blood, and lost the battle he was fighting.
Cieran sank his teeth into Aurora, draining her. Her blood flushed the poison from his body, restoring him to his non-feral state, but it was too late. Aurora lay unconscious beside him, her blood almost entirely drained, her pulse barely detectable. "Aurora...no...NO!!!" Cieran yelled, shaking her. "No...you have to wake up...you must." Cieran cut his hand, trying to feed her blood to recover, but it was no good. Without being conscious, she could not swallow and process it, and it could not help her.
In that moment, Cieran knew that there was only one choice he had left. He leaned close to Aurora, not sure if she could hear him but wanting to say goodbye to her human form nonetheless. "My love, I am so sorry. If there was any other way....I love you so much. Please forgive me." Cieran sunk his teeth back into her, but this time it was not only his venom that he sent back into Aurora - he also injected blood, the blood he'd just consumed, back into her. Small amounts did have healing effects, but he knew the amount it would take to revive her, combined with the venom, would turn her. He felt her pulse and breath return, and lifted his head up, preparing to see her beautiful blue eyes replaced with the red or gold color that all vampires possessed.
