Thank you!
Way down beneath the crumbled dirt there was a railroad line. One that carried deep into the pits of the Earth. The railroad line had once been lit with gorgeous twinkling lights that would cast a shimmering yellow glow. The lights had since been busted, bulbs popping with little hisses every time the train would roll by. The tracks, once clean and sturdy shook as the wheels sat against the rails. The state of the railroad was only a small tease of what laid at the end, a torturous wasteland. This wasteland had once been Persephone's home, one that she had loved to return to. She would ride the train with excitement in her chest, her fingertips aching to feel the firm chest of her beloved husband once more. But, Hades had grown cruel. Even more cruel than most would assume, taking such joy in the pain and suffering he would inflict. The underworld had celebrated for years, after Persephone took her vow to become Hades wife and to live there for 6 months out of each year. Allowing her beloved Earth to die. It had been 10 years since she had married her husband, and each year was worse than the last. Hades had grown greedy, and lost sight of himself. And his wife. He would keep her quiet with lavish jewels, expensive gifts, often times using his body to exhaust her and make her sleep. If he kept her subdued, she wouldn't have the chance to question his new tactics. He had turned the entire underworld into a necropolis, the River Styx running hotter than it ever had before. Oil machinery, neon signs, walls built so high Persephone feared walking along them. He had turned it into something entirely unrecognizable, and he became bored. He began to care less and less for people, living or dead. He would arrive early, to sweep Persephone down to the underworld, killing the Earth quicker. She could not allow her people to thrive, as she was being kidnapped back down beneath the ground far too often, only spending a total of 3 to 4
months on Earth before he would get impatient again and come to drag her back down. Persephone knew that she would have to make her move, and make it quickly. For this time when the King came for his Queen, nothing would remain the same.
