After a couple of days, the official acceptance letter arrived, packed in a neat red envelope and with a font that could have passed as handwritten. Together with it, exact instructions on how to reach the base. It was a similar journey for everyone. Fly out to Moscow, take a train up north as far as possible. At the station, take a taxi and make them take you to Everdeenova, the nearest town to the station. At the town, there was a pub to get warm and meet the person who would bring you to your destination. Mikhail Krik was a man in his late sixties with little teeth left, long matted hair and a jacket that was way too light for the freezing tundra temperatures. The drive was his snow mobile, a trailer attached to it, and took roughly an hour through the snow storm. At the beginning, he told everyone the same thing, in a broken, nearly unintelligible English. "Get use to rode this, you going need to." Before starting the engine with a near manic laugh. - (edited)
The outside temperature was -33°C, at least according to the digital thermometer at the entrance of the base. Using the key code delivered with your acceptance, you could enter into the base, immediatley taking in the warm air inside. The building was completly heated, you could walk around in shorts and t-shirts. The first room was the huge research area. A round table in the middle, while the other end was decorated with computers, landed equipment, everything you could need to examine feces and fur and blood and whatever else the animals would leave behind. On the table was a note, written in a very fancy and familiar handwriting:
Greetings, I hope you had a pleasant journey to our base. I'm aware Mikhail can be a little hard to handle, but he is the only one willing to drive that route. I'm currently out of town, if any questions arise please consult either Ms. Snow or write me a message through the group chat. Kind regards, Pr. Dr. Kai Cobblepot P.S. please feed my rats Morphy, Fischer and Carlsen.
The kitchen had every type of canned food you could imagine, a stove, oven, microwave, water-boiler and a coffee machine, but was generally very small. There were two unisex bathrooms, one sporting a shower, the other a bathtub. All general sanitary equipment was present. Both had a washing machine inside. The bedrooms were not separated and had bunk beds. Who wants to sleep on top? Everyone had a small wardrobe to place their belongings and clothes in. There was also a workout room for any fan of physical activity. Really, there was just a butterfly press, some dumbbels, some weights to lift and a running mill. The last room was the community room. A tv and dvd player, with a couple of classic movies, some board games, a coffe table and a couch. All in all, pretty cozy.

Chiran Al Shams BOT 30-Oct-21 10:50 AM
Chiran stood outside the building as the freezing winds blew into their faces like a thousand tiny needles flying through the air. He was doubled over, and at his feet lay a pile of vomit which was quickly freezing solid, the result of his ride with Mikhail. The driver extended a hand towards Chiran, an open pack of cigarettes in his grip. "Will help," he said with a toothless smile. Chiran took the offer and cupped his hand around the jet lighter Mikhail produced from his pocket - it was obvious this wasn't his first cigarette in a snowstorm. As the nicotine calmed his nausea and nerves, he flicked the cigarette into the snow, grabbed his bags, and released the latch on the outer airlock. A burst of air and steam emerged as he walked into the entrance chamber where his companions were taking off their coats. "Quite a ride, yes?" he said with a smile, blushing at his lack of intestinal fortitude. "I am Chiran Al Shams, team anthropologist. I think we have all spoken on the group chat?" He looked around at his new team members, eager to get to know them.

"There you go young lady" Mikhail said in his very own well toned voice. Whenever he spoke it felt as if some magical force from hell was speaking up and about to announce a death sentence. Gwen forcefully smiled at him and grabbed her bag or maybe Dragged her huge bag out of the car. She adjusts her long black overcoat moving her really small hands covered up with Gloves to remove dust accumulated on it. "W-wow, some cold huh" She whispered to herself adjust her beanie and trying to walk towards the door which was not so far but the bag she had with her made it look like a miles away. Seeing Gwen struggle Mikhail laughed. Yes, He laughed. He walked over to Gwen from the other side of the Jeep and picked her bag with just one hand without even a grunt. "Impressive I must say" Gwen appreciated Mikhail's help and released the latch outside of the door. Followed by a sound of vaccum bursting open, the door opened and Mikhail just threw her luggage from quite some distance right into the base. Gwen shouted at the top her voice which was the lowest frequency at which Mikhail might normally whisper. "You animal, why did throw it like that. My gadgets are in there and I swear if anything in there breaks I'm gonna write a letter to the one operating this thing out here in nowhere" She completed, still frowning as she watched the door close and Mikhail probably not even listening half of it or maybe it wasn't just audible. Well, when Gwen did settle her anger down she noticed few people around already looking at her in some kind of surprise. "Umm, Hey there team. I'm Gwneneth Reynolds. I'll be part of the tech team here" She introduced herself in the "Gwenish" way possible waving her tiny hands at everyone with a grin on her face. "Ohh, I think they don't like me already" She whispers to herself. "Ummm, Can anyone help me with the luggage? It's too heavy for me to actually handle it properly"

an average hight gentlemen would walk in carrying two large duffle bags and a large backpack strapped tightly to his back. He himself, was covered in almost a ridiculous about of cold weater gear. Ski goggles, a black face covering, a navy blue down coat with furr lining, thick black winter boots and snowpants to match. And this was only what could be seen externally. who knows ehat else he was wearing below in all those layers of clothing. He was covered in snow as he set a bag down and closed the door behind him, with an exasperated grunt. He would then pull down his hood, his goggles and mask, with a slight exasperation. "Boy that mask is stuffy. Anyways, guess I'll make myself at home in the medway. He saitclooking around with his ocean blue eyes, putting the other duffle bag in his hand to brush his blond hair back, shaking off any extra snow.

Chiran noticed Gwen struggling with at least a dozen heavy cases and went over to help. "Let me be of assistance. Chiran Al Shams, a pleasure." The wind blew flecks of snow against Chiran's tan face, covered in stubble from days of travel. He looked around as he went for some of the luggage. Another man was getting out, and by contrast with Gwen's mountain of bags he only carried two simple duffles. Chiran waved at the man as he continued to survey the scene. "I was told there were two more members on the team, isn't that correct? and what about Dr. Snow, is she here already?" Chiran looked around for whoever was in charge and could help them find their way around.

Behind you you suddenly hear a voice: "I am here, Chiran." When you turned around, you saw a woman in her late twenties. She had golden brown skin, brown eyes, and a large pile of curly light brown hair. She wore black-gray skinny jeans that had a few spots on them, a red tank top with very thin shoulder straps over which she wore a jean jacket. She had on a pair of white sneakers whose soles were a little dirty and around her wrist she wore a nice watch. She looked at you with a friendly smile. "Welcome all, to the OS operations base. My name is Danielle Snow and I am a zoologist and biologist here. I hope Mikhail didn't give you guys too difficult a trip?" She laughed quietly at her own joke before continuing. "I assume you have read Professor Cobblepot's bill. Anyway, I came here to give you a brief welcome here and to say that Professor Cobblepot will be joining us at the beginning of next week. Until then, get to know each other and explore the base if you will. If you need me, you can find me in the lab."

Dr. Telarion BOT 07-Nov-21 08:11 AM
Doctor Terlarion was rather exhausted and displeased by his arrival. He didn't want anything to do with this, however, he had to do what he had to do. The higher ups had threatened him quite well to comply. His arrival was somewhat uneventful. He simply arrived and looked for his room, where he was going to live. Unpacked his items and made himself at home. In all his life, he hoped that once he becomes a doctor, that he would be left alone. But alas, it was not the case it seems. He wouldn't just sit in a room and review papers and write scientific thesis. Instead he would actually do some pesky expeditions. This was not something he was found of, but what he had to do, he had to do. In his mind was one thing... if only the coffee machine was in his room, then he would not have to interact with anyone, but alas, it seemed to not be the case. The long drive had him exhausted, therefore he set fourth to com down the stairs, from his room, into the main room, where there were a few people chattering. He tried to not gather any attention, despite him always wearing a scarf, which to him was really important. He was trying to blend in and act as if he was there for a long time, approached the coffee machine, and pressed a button, to make him a hot fresh coffee. 'Just take the coffee and go back.' he thought to himself 'easy.... and nobody will notice you.' However he was a bit clumsy by nature, and knocked off from the table the sugar tray, making it break into pieces and spreading around the sugar on the floor. 'Shit... now everyone's attention is going to be at me... Nice work, Telarion' His eyes filled with frustration and hate to himself. He got himself into big shit.

Dr. Alexander Redscale BOT 08-Nov-21 10:13 AM
Alex was eager to participate in the exhibition, it was his first major job since he got his doctorate in medicine. He had worked in a hospital back home, specializing in trauma and rapid onset illness, after spending a year or so on his on working in the Emergency room back home. However, once he realized there was lack of a medbay, his heart rather sank, what does this mean for him? It's not like they can just build on an addition to the facility. good thing I brought a lit of my medical hiking gear for field work. * He thought to himself. Dr. Redscale would go to one of the bunks, he wasn't too pick about where he slept, but wasted no time dumping his bags onto a bed that was available. *she's its kinda getting warm in here he thought to himself, and decided to change into a more appropriate attire for his job. He put on a white button down, black tie , and black dress pants, but oddly enough put on black tennishoes, followed by his white doctors coat, finishing the outfit by putting his favorite red stethoscope around his neck. Dr. Redscale left the crew quarters and made his way to the day room. He went to look for someone in charge. Perhaps muss Danielle Snow could answer his questions. He entered into the day room looking for her, the saw the individual clumsily drop sugar all over the floor. He smiled a little and approached him. "Hey do you need a hand? Be careful with that glass, 6ou could cut yourself. Should I get the broom?" He said with a sincere tone, offering a hand in aid.

"Geeeh!" He says with rather scared tone. He's not used to interaction quite well, and he often has this understanding that if someone is offering some help, that will lead to no good. Therefore he just quickly picks up the pieces of porcelan and shattered glass, scoops up as much sugar as he can and then right away places them in the recycling bin, leaving a few droplets of the blood on the floor. He really didn't want to be in trouble and felt that this might get him into severe one. He just did the cleaning as fast as he can, ignoring the cuts, took the cup of coffee and just rushed back to his room, leaving a small trace of blood behind

Alex would watch the man with a puzzled look. how strange he said. He bent over carefully sweeping up what had been left behind. As he bent down he noticed the blood droplets on the floor leading out of the room. Alex sighed as he stood upright, dumping what he had in his hand in the trash can. He paused for a moment, sighing once again as he turned around. Looking for Ms Danielle snow. Not seeing her he turned and began to follow the trail of blood. Alex followed the trail to the living quarters. As he walked past individuals, who gave him funny looks as he walked down the hall hunched over. Determine to follow each drop to their destination. Seeing that his quarters were next to the trail of blood, that belonged to the speculativly wounded individual, he entered his quarters grabbing the large backpack. He then returned to the hallway and knocked on the door. "Hello? Is someone in there? I'm Doctor Redscale, there is a trail of blood leafing to these quarters. Are you all right? I'd like to take a look at your injury." He said in a compassionate tone to the closed door in front of him.

Chiran put his hand on the back of his head, brushing the back of his neck as he smiled in the snow, watching Dr. Snow enter the facility. Perfectly comfortable in a tank top, despite freezing temperatures, he thought to himself, chuckling as he picked up his bags and headed inside. Beyond Dr. Snow's brief introduction, it would seem that one was expected to discover things independently on the base - new residents wandered the halls, trying to get their bearings. Chiran grabbed the shoulder strap of his bag, adjusting it on his back before passing through the threshold of the entrance. A strong gust of wind hit him as the air curtain cut off the cold air, and the room instantly became a toasty warm temperature on the other side. The base used a modular construction system, with the other pods connecting to the main research area that sat directly in front of the entrance.

Now inside, Chiran became acutely aware of the smell of tobacco that lingered on his clothes and breath. It was a habit he hated, but also one that he could not drop. In a corner of Chiran's mind, he was already debating how long to wait before venturing out into the cold for another cigarette. He was looking for a distraction when he heard the crashing sound of broken glass over in the kitchen and turned his attention to the scene. Dr. Telarion looked higly panicked at the situation, rushing off to the bunks. Dr. Redscale seemed calmer, but displayed concern at something in the corner. As he trailed off to follow Dr. Telarion, Chiran walked over to the kitchen to inspect the scene. Barebones, but it had the essentials. Chiran walked back out to the research area. In the center was a large rectangular table, large enough for the whole group to sit down and work
on projects together. He was hesitant to join the doctors in the other room, so he dumped his bags on the table and waited for some of the other newcomers to join him. Chiran's eyes darted around looking for Gwen, the only other resident he'd seen so far.

Doctor was actually right now in panic, as people were knocking on his door. He was ashamed of his actions and now the bleeding arm would be a sore thumb in everyone's eyes. He needed to do something really fast. and NOW. "Yes, just a minute!" He picked up some gloves and looked around for any container that he could give as a replacement. There he found his grandmother's sugar container that she had gifted him when he was just becoming a Doctor. A sweet gift. He took it in his arms, wearing black gloves to cover up his bleeding right hand and just opened the door. "I am sorry for breaking the container, please take this and don't worry. I'll ask my superiors to cover the damages." He gave the container to Doctor Redscale and turned around back into the room, locking himself up

Doctor Redscale quickly shoved his foot into the doorframe preventing it from closing. "I could care less about the whatever container. You're injured and I need to take a look at your injury as soon as possible. If we don't treat it you could get an infection! You can keep trying to shut the door in my face but im not leaving until I at least get a look at your injury. Once you get hurt on this base you become my responsibility. Now let me see it!" He said stubbornly pushing back on the door.
